Still the best video game ever. All times favorite. Epic story, epic movies, epic atmosphere, great unit and world design, lots of unique very clever RTS ideas.

I then took a break from it for years and still go back to play this game from time to time, though I don't really remember who's on it now, and since WW is gone the online part is brought back by some people that took over the servers(can't recall the name as I'm at work), but it's still a great game, especially if you get some friends on and you play together. Maps like Terrace, Forest Fires are two of your best maps. This is an all time great game and after posting this I may just go install it when I get home. Expand

Forget about the hype- if you played this game - gave a decent go and played in a lan arrangement with others you would have found this the best multiplayer around. A solid stategic patient grind. Still have a soft spot for it.
Can still play others via cnc net etc

    BUT.
This game is PIECE OF ART and HISTORY. The creators' love is put in every pixel and every sound of this game. Thanks to Frank Klepacki and Jarrid Mendelson for their wonderful soundtrack. Only 'Gloom' is a standalone masterpiece! Despite the lack of balance, lack of some units and techniques it makes your heart pounding when three rockets launching to "Philadelphia" Station.

Two decades later it looks as old lamp RTS, much more warmer then Red Alert 2, though the second looks more finished and released as product.

I know that as product it got out raw but I CANNOT put score below 10 'cause as creation it is perfect.

Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun, the highly anticipated sequel in the popular real-time strategy franchise, delivered an immersive and nostalgic experience that took me back to a time of carefree gaming. While the game holds a special place in the hearts of many, it fell short of meeting the lofty expectations set by its predecessor. While the game holds a special place in the hearts of many, it fell short of meeting the lofty expectations set by its predecessor. Unit balance issues and fleeting moments of leaderboard glory were notable drawbacks. Nonetheless, Tiberian Sun remains a treasured part of gaming history, evoking fond memories for its dedicated fanbase.

One of the standout aspects of Tiberian Sun is its ability to transport me to a bygone era. Nostalgia runs deep as I reminisce about carefree nights spent playing multiplayer, competing against friends or online opponents until the early hours of the morning. The game holds a special place in the hearts of those who experienced the excitement of climbing the leaderboards, even if those moments of rank-one glory proved ephemeral.

While the multiplayer experience and the rush of achieving top leaderboard ranks were undoubtedly highlights, Tiberian Sun struggled with unit balance issues. Certain units often proved overpowered or underwhelming, affecting the strategic depth of gameplay. This imbalance could lead to frustrating encounters, where victory or defeat hinged on exploiting or countering specific units rather than showcasing skillful tactics.

Despite its gameplay drawbacks, Tiberian Sun's atmosphere and aesthetics were commendable. The game presented a dark and gritty vision of a post-apocalyptic world, with detailed environments and impressive visuals for its time. The immersive sound design and memorable soundtrack further contributed to the game's engaging atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience.

The single-player campaign of Tiberian Sun featured an intriguing storyline that continued the saga of the Tiberium conflict. While it may not have reached the heights of its predecessor's narrative, it still provided an engaging experience with memorable characters and plot twists. The inclusion of full-motion video cutscenes added an extra layer of immersion to the game's storyline, capturing the attention of players.

Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun is undeniably a game that left an indelible mark on the memories of those who played it. Despite its unit balance issues and unfulfilled hype, it stands as a cherished relic of a time when gaming was a source of carefree joy. The multiplayer battles, leaderboard ambitions, and late-night gaming sessions evoke a sense of nostalgia and hold a special place in the hearts of players who experienced its unique charm.

In conclusion, Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun may not have lived up to the immense hype it generated, with unit balance issues hindering its strategic depth. However, its nostalgic appeal and immersive atmosphere make it a game that remains close to the hearts of fans who recall the thrill of multiplayer battles and leaderboard pursuits. Tiberian Sun serves as a reminder of a time and place when gaming was a carefree adventure, and the memories of those experiences will always hold a special place in the gaming community.

The storyline is pretty good for an RTS game and it feature cinematic cutscenes which move the story along. Unlike C&C1 and RA, the soundtrack isn't all that impressive, but its more sombre and dreary tone does suit the Tiberium-ravaged world. The new unit types are pretty cool though (flying infantry, tunneling tanks, mechs, etc.) and new mechanics such as dynamic lighting and ion storms further help to set an intriguing mood. Overall, this game is a worthy successor to Tiberian Dawn; it's just a shame that they didn't put a bit more work into it and include some of the neater features. Expand

To be honest, this was game is a shining example of how hype can ruin a game.

So much hype and such high expectations, when it was finally released it did not satisfy.

Don't get me wrong I still think it was allot of fun and is a solid entry into the franchise, but I had expected so much more.

    Overall:
A decent addition to franchise, but not what it should have been.

I had to upgrade my PC to play this game and back then, I didn't know what the concept of upgrading a PC was. What's this thing called RAM? What's a graphics card? I JUST WANT TO PLAY! В детстве очень сильно ждал и много играл, в меру своих сил (на момент релиза мне было 12 лет). У меня даже подробный мануал от Страны Игр был. Отдельный номер чисто про Tiberian Sun.

The GDI campaign is laughably bad but the Nod videos are just fantastic. Kane is fantastic and is easily the standout character of this whole franchise. the RTS gameplay (campaigns) is really tight (be sure to play on Hard for the real experience), and I can't believe this game came out in 1999. It plays better than Age of Empires IV imo. This game really needs a remaster and so does Red Alert 2 and perhaps even CNC3. This game is 100% worth playing just for the bizarre entertainment that comes from playing the Nod campaign. It's a classic, and it's in the top 5 best RTS of all time.

One of the biggest perks of this game is the atmosphere. They really nailed the vibes. The soundtrack is great, although not as good as the original game. Frank Klepacki is fantastic as always, tho.
For 1999, the game also revolutionized ai-pathing, making this one of the tightest old school RTS experiences you can have as long as you're okay with single-player (I never played this online).

So, I really like it, but it certainly has a few flaws.

    1) I constantly have to change my speed, and I can't figure out the hotkey to do this...game speed needs to be adjusted constantly between gathering resources (Fast,Faster, or Fastest) and combat (you will want to change to anywhere from Slowest-Medium in order to react to everything going on).
    2) Speed again, it feels like Slowest-Fast is okay but even medium and fast feels too slow sometimes. Faster is like really fast but doable, but combat tactics are hard. Fastest is just a joke setting when you need resources fast, it's unplayable and dangerous.
    3) no multiplayer scene that I'm aware of in 2023, and I'm not even sure it works at all.
    4) Kane/Nod, while being vastly entertaining, ultimately amount to little more than cartoonish villains. I still revere Kane as one of the most iconic video game characters, but his motive changes in each game, and the overall plot/storyline makes no sense lol.
    5) If you're playing the GDI campaign, it's almost impossible to avoid the subterranean units. The concrete is basically an annoying deterrent as they will *always* find a way in your base. You just need to prepare your defenses for this. It happens also in the Nod campaign vs other Nod so the subterranean units are just annoying, but it's part of the gameplay I guess.
    6) 100% requires a fan-made patch for it to even run at all on Windows 10. It's kind of ridiculous that EA released this game as part of their super command and conquer pack and then didn't even bother patching it to make sure it works. It says a lot about EA as a company that they release broken products like this.

If you want this game, I recommend to find it for free online since it's technically freeware - don't bother with the official version. And make sure you patch it (you can google for the fan tiberian sun patch).

Anyway, this game is a work of art and it's arguably the best of all the command and conquer games, although less flashy and popular than red alert 2. It has aged very well, much better than 3D RTS.
