Best multiplayer RTS game I played so far. The Singleplayer part gets boring after a while but the multiplayer part entertained me for many years. It is a shame EA stopped the support for this game and never released another good C&C game after Zero Hour

This is a game that is begging for a remaster. A modern version would be the best thing that can happen to RTS and EA in general.

The AI is just ridiculous and nowhere near human-like playing style. I've tried playing against Medium (Balanced) difficulty level and it's just consistently relentless at sending units to attack my base. Even if I manage to defend I eventually run out of tiberium.

I wonder if the developers ever bothered to play against the AI to see what it's like. Also looking at the post-game stats

I wonder if the developers ever bothered to play against the AI to see what it's like. Also looking at the post-game stats there is just no way that any normal player would be able to build units and structures and attack in such a short period of time. Really, because of this I'd say it's border-line unplayable.

It was a good game until i reached the 4th USA Campaign mission, guess what ... you need to build a base and an army, but you have no credits, the only way to get them is by capturing oil rigs, that the enemy will destroy. I give it a 4, learn to make a campaign that is challenging instead of unfair and frustrating. Expand

C&C shines because of it's simple game mechanics that anyone can pick up on and start having fun. C&C Generals and Zero Hour combines the original Generals game with another game Zero Hour both are fun to experiment with the factions and units. There is a lot of strategy involved in the games as you are allowed with cash to command an entire army much like the actual U.S the U.S army is strong and has tones of money and units but the GLA terrorist faction has less money and weaker units but if the player is patient they can also create many units for GLA, US or China all though their are only three factions they differ from one other quite well. A classic and instantly recognizable RTS games C&C having good audio and sounds as well as low system requirements making it runnable on almost all modern computers. It's fun and not as complicated or serious as some of the bigger RTS's so it is a great game to open up and invade Iraq as the U.S or try and defend your power as the GLA or even in the games skirmish mode start a new cold war with China. The cut scenes are weird but they don't ruin the experience. Expand

Zero added quite a lot to a slick RTS- the challenge system keeps you coming back for more. The with effectively nine factions avaialble its hard to question value here. If you do not like westwoods way of doing RTS then move on as this still Westwood in all its glory

units, spaces and everything was gratefully on 2003 . zero - hour expansion is famous on game nets on that year.

Ah, the good old days when you can have fun with the base game and expansions were just icing on the cake. Zero Hour is an example. You get more units, and a new feature: generals challenge, where you select a general with his/her own unique units and battle another AI general. They haven't fix the bugs from the last game, which is disappointing but the game is still fun. Like the base game, ZH is only available with the C&C Collection.

I know you're reading this EA: if you want to return C&C to its former glory, look at Generals, do the exact thing, clean out the bugs and when you release DLC, it should be a fresh coat of paint like ZH. I want to see what you intend to do with C&C now. I'm glad you didn't release that Pay-2-Win crap as a C&C title last year.

Best expansion ever made. It adds so many new things to the base game that it is probably worth just as much. It is also one of the few games to have 3 singleplayer modes that are all very fun; campaign, generals challenges and skirmish give you plenty of options for replayability.

I played it first on Mac and then Windows and didn't encounter any game changing bugs as other people have

However, the game is crippled by bugs that EA has never bothered to fix. Some bugs are minor graphical glitches which are easy to dismiss, but others are major. Quite frequently the game will crash giving an error message that my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements of the game (which is completely false), sometimes all my units and buildings will blow up, and some maps just don't work. Also, USA AI dozers will frequently sit doing nothing for a while before building structures. Theres also issues with multiplayer, with opponents sometimes quitting the game admitting defeat but somehow the game gives them the win??? The game's balance is also way out, with some units clearly being overpowered (I'm looking at you GLA rocket soldiers and USA humvees/ambulances) When an opponent "Air Force" General gets nothing but humvees, you know something is wrong with the game's balance. A 1.05 community patch has been released for those inclined but it says a lot of EA when its the community that has to patch a game and not the developers themselves. Its such as shame really. Zero Hour has made some fantastic additions to the game but the game breaking bugs and poor balance tarnish the experience. Expand

I wouldn't trust the critics and users on this one, but I do agree on what PC Gamer said. This C&C game just got much buggier than Generals and is much worse on balanced gameplay when it comes to a dozen factions. EA never fixed the major AI bugs. A fun game, with many flaws. With it's Blizzard-style interface and "modern" setting, it's only remaining C&C trait is its ridiculous weapons. 1. Given the little over a week that it took me to run through it all, I feel that this expansion pack is about average. It contains a few little tweaks that improve the game mechanics noticeably, though some of the more basic problems with C&C:G continue to shine through.
  2. 90
The addition of the specialized generals, however, pushes this expansion set over the top. If you've already got Generals, you cannot go wrong with getting Zero Hour.
  3. Finally, an expansion that is a must have for every fan of the game. Quite simply, if you don't pick this up, you are definitely missing out!
