These games really are the pinnacle of strategic warfare, and anybody of this bent who hasn’t already visited really should give the Combat Mission Anthology a shot. Sure, the complexity will be too much for many, but persevere and there’s a wealth of intelligent fun to be had here.
-
Overall Combat Mission Anthology is a great buy, if you’re looking to explore the deeper end of the World War II tactical combat pool.
-
The whole gambit of interesting locations from Normandy to an entire Russian campaign offers the strat player a real mind throbbing treat as you can play and assume a number of sides.
-
Moving about the map and changing views quickly to cover all your troops during the movement turn isn’t easy and the path-finding ability of some of the units leaves a bit to be desired but on the whole Combat Mission Anthology can be highly recommended to all the armchair generals out there.
-
The Combat Mission games are not for the faint-hearted or action RTS fan. If the prospect of flipping back and forth between the game and Acrobat for a few hours doesn't phase you, then Combat Mission could be right up your alley.
