Oct 22, 2012As polished and appealing as this game is, it still fails to distinguish itself from the countless other free medieval warfare mods besides a small bump in graphics at the cost of 23 euro which will plague this game with a lack of players in the coming weeks.

Feb 5, 2014Seriously, if you're going to make a game this glitchy and buggy, maybe you shouldn't have ads you can't skip every time you boot the game after it crashes.
Fun game, but poor coding kills it. -

Jul 22, 2018The combat was super fun, but the mechanics are broken, you can do some really weird stuff if you pan your camera quickly etc.

Feb 26, 2018The game is pleasing, but it gets tired quickly. There are also ping problems.

Apr 29, 2018Some servers are very unfriendly after leaving the low level servers. You can be bullied out of servers which could completely ruin your experience. Fun game, but play at your own risk.

Jan 24, 2013Very very buggy, couldn't complete tutorial because the keys it told me to use, were NOT the keys I actually had to use. Upon trying to fix this, I ended up deleting the keybinding entirely with no way to reset it.

Jan 24, 2013The idea of the game is very good. But graphics are just average (they would be cool back in 2000's) and combat gameplay is bad...laggy...the controls sucks... hitting the target is a question of lucky...many bugs...well..this game is only for those who are really fans of this kind of stuff..Too bad, the idea of Medieval First Person Game is very cool and there is not many games. Could be better.

Jan 2, 2013I want to give this game a higher score but it would need more content or better game modes. I love the combat even if I get a bit frustrated at my sword passing through someone without dealing damage because, when you chop the whole arm off, you will laughing like a mad (wo)man. The combat could be worse though. So, I do give the developer some credit. This game is worth buying and playing.

Oct 30, 2012I bought this game hoping for a good slasher similar to die by the sword (1998), and while the hit detection is ok, the mechanics are poor and the game itself is a complete bore. I'm glad to be supporting indie developers, but this game needs a lot of work before it could be considered fun.

Nov 15, 2012+ Very meaty combat, Fun gameplay, gritty graphics suits the setting, Chopping heads is satisfying
- Not enough content, lack of maps, lack of customizing, Awful server browser and matchmaking, My recommendation: Wait after the first big patch which hopefully gives some extra content and resolve the online issues. -

Jan 2, 2013It has some good gamemodes, like objective, however the game is just a low skilled noob version of mount and blade, no manual blocking etc. I just spam lmb and come top of the scoreboards nigh on every game. In mount and blade you require teamwork, tactics, practise, skill, reflexes, in chivalry you only need a working index finger and a left mouse button.

Dec 2, 2013While it has the potential to be a great game it's plagued (for the better part of a year) by poor frame rate and lag, even on high end machines and the developer's apparent disinterest to remedy the situation is all the more reason to buy this game only when its on sale.
-
Dec 20, 2012At first I thought this game was not that great, I wasn't a fan of the strange pov and it seemed like combat was random, but after playing it a bit I have come to appreciate it and it is actually a lot of fun.

Aug 17, 2013The game is great! yes there are a few bugs and certain weapons seem to be overpowered but I feel that a few updates from now this game should be pitch perfect, what amazed me the most is how fluent and fast the combat is! One moment I'm on my feet the next moment I'm trying to find my head which is rolling on the floor due to the everyday man-at-arms halberd.

Jun 6, 2013This game isn't perfect but gives a nice combat system that's unlike most and the game is a great way to kill time. I recommend giving it a try and for how cheap you can get the game it's worth the investment. Just prepare to die A LOT!

Jul 13, 2013Its a good game, not great still needs some work. Amazing visuals for an indie game, but game-play is not smooth. I would say try the half life 2 mod first before you buy this (the mod is better) but if not, this is a good replacement if you are tired of shooting bullets.
-
Dec 24, 2015A game in which you take the combat system of Elder Scrolls and beat up other people with it. A very fun game. Muliplayer exclusive. The player is also able to customize your play style with multiple weapons and appearances, many different game types too.
-
Sep 18, 2013Get it on sale and it's worth it. Combat is kind of clunky and the controls aren't great but it is fun and has a lot of moves you can try to pull off. I prefer the archery/crossbows myself. It's entirely possible to one-shot people with well placed attacks.
-
Aug 23, 2013Would be much higher if it wasn't for all the bugs, exploits, low quantity of maps, weapons. Still no mod tools. It is very fun and addicting for what it is but has too many bugs to get a higher score.
-
Jul 17, 2013a frustrating rageing hard game were classes and weapons are over powered but get a bit fun when you learn to play more however its pretty original considering all people play usual are fps theses days

Jun 5, 2014It's really fun, but very hard. It also doesn't seem like it, but it's very demanding, I had to turn all of my settings to low to play it, and even then it lagged or glitched pretty often, getting me killed. During a free weekend I recommend playing it as much as you can, because that's when all the newbies are playing, and it's not nearly as frustrating. This game isn't for everyone.

Apr 29, 20226/10. The weapons don't feel responsive. Fighting isn't intuitive. There is far too much weapon variety. The game is too competitive to have such sloppy gameplay.

Feb 26, 2013A multiplayer experience that offers a realistic point of view of the Medieval melee battles. It's not fit for everyone, but if you get past the glitches and the high difficulty curve, you'll find an enjoyable and addictive game.

PC Master (Greece)Feb 4, 2013Chivalry is slightly… bipolar. The spectacle of a duel (especially if the two opponents are seasoned veterans) can be spectacularly breath-taking, a complex choreography that one can only marvel at. Blocks, feints, slashes, back-steps, side-hits: despite initial impressions, this can be a truly intellectual game of tactics, requiring high skills, observation and deviousness. On the other hand, the spectacle of a massive battle of fifty warriors can be ridiculously chaotic: especially if the players are inexperienced and go for blind “hack and slash” tactics, it’s more like a metal concert mosh pit than a battle for glory and honor. [February 2013]

PC GamerFeb 1, 2013Chivalry is Quake to War of the Roses' Battlefield, and those seeking a faster-paced bloodier experience will undoubtedly prefer Chivalry's type of steel. [March 2013, p.65]
