    No working parties in a multiplayer game in 2021. Laughable.
    Day 1 patch delayed two months, and it broke more that it fixed.
    How come it is acceptable to release a beta product, and call it a "full release" nowadays...
    Don't buy, refund if you did.

    Great ideas, good base, but badly needs content. Not nearly enough content for a full release. But the biggest issue is the lack of support from torn banner. PC users are unable to group effectively or even play the game with their friends - more than 2 months have passed and this issue has not been addressed.     The game is great, but there are a lot of problems in it. The developers may not play it. There is no other explanation for such problems. They released patches, so what? The balance has been flawed. The saddest thing is that Canadian developers have been frustrating for years... Hope you fix the game.

    Made an account on MC specifically to review this game. Quite frankly, don't buy this game due to several reasons:

    1.) Party invite system is broken. If you plan to play with friends, forget about it. 2 months on, devs finally released a much delayed patch that should have fixed the issue.     2.) Devs falsely advertised crossplay. Technically there is crossplay but no crossparties which defeats the purpose. Devs have continued to advertised their game as crossplay knowing full well that this is not the case. Devs say they will "possibly" add this in the future but no ETA again.

    3.) Very few maps. Normally the amount of maps don't bother me as much but with only 7 maps, 3 of which are small team deathmatch maps, 1 which is a broken map, and the remaining being good maps, it does not look good for this game. Coupled with not being able to play with friends makes the game become stale real fast.

    4.) No competitive mode. There is only team deathmatch, FFA, and team objective. In other words, not much variety in objectives or something to improve for.

    5.) Epic game exclusive for 1 year.

    6.) Terrible devs. The devs hotfixed a money issue on day 1 but refuses to hotfix the party issues in this game. They have constantly missed their deadlines as well as delivering patches that don't address the core problems of this game. Devs have gone more or less radio silent the past few days since the patch.    … Expand

    Do not get fleeced into to buying this game. It's not even close to release ready. It's a phase two beta with a price tag attached. So many missing qualitfy of life features / standard best practices for multiplayer games. At the current rate it might be a full release in 2/3 years, but at that point the server population is guarenteed to be 0.     The good:
    >The combat mechanics are fun and smooth 10/10 (well they were before the post release patch and now hits occasionally phase through people and lag and its not as tight as it was at all 7/10)
    >The tutorial is really solid at explaining the combat mechanics / giving players practice

    The bad:
    >only 6 objective maps (quite boring and limited), one of them (coxwell) still has an exploit from the beta that allows the defenders to cheat and prevent the attackers from ever winning
    >only 3 ffa maps (again quite boring and limited)
    >party doesnt work properly on PC, and cross platform parties arent even supported
    >the 'objective maps' servers keep rotating to FFA/TDM maps (another unexplained, artibitary and stupid decision)
    >server population gets padded by useless bots (that just stand there half the time) despite apparently being fixed in the patch
    >the 'matchmaking' will occasionally send you to a server on the other side of the planet (despite active servers in your region) and you have to requeue
    >the matchmaking has no MMR or ELO, so why does it take 60 seconds for an algorithm to find me a server?
    >server browser doesn't even show the matchmaking servers
    >console version doesn't even have server browser
    >you can't see what server your friends are already playing on / try to join them
    >every other spawn you get stuck in a 'forced run' for 5 and can't turn or anything (another sick bug introduced in the post release patch)
    >no competitive game mode
    >no duel game mode
    >no mute feature so get ready to enjoy endless unfiltered racism and abuse in the all chat
    >vote kick doesn't work so get ready for your server to be full of 200+ ping players lagging out combat
    >the 'cosmetics' menu is broken frequently shows 'fake unlock notifications' and occasionally shows incorrect models for unlocks / player classes
    >there is no way ingame to see what level the next cosmetic unlock is, you have to quit server and check cosmetics menu
    >the devs just delete feedback and bug reports silently from the discord and give users no response or acknowledgement    … Expand

    This game had potential to be great. It's not worth where it's at now. It has "cross-play" but no "cross-parties". It is advertised falsely and the developers are slow and not doing a good job. The game is in a really bad state and the servers are not good.

    Core gameplay though is really fun, I would wait for it to go on sale or get to the Steam store next year.

    I have like 50 hours into this game with all classes and it's been an absolute nightmare of a game for every reason other than how cool the maps and weapons are. Extremely disappointing as all games are becoming nowadays.

    I love the game, only ruined by teammates purposely trying to kill you (not accidentally once or twice, actually trying).

    the game has a LOT of issues with server disconnects, crashes, lag, freezing, hitboxes which has been around for a long time with no real fix. it's sometimes hard to play 1 game from start to finish without these happening.

    Great game but awful and frustrating party system. It's been two months and still can't join with friends. Any publisher that releases garbage like this needs to offer refunds.

    Lazy developers that don't care about the game nor about the community, the most toxic community ever, balance doesn't exist so if you are a new player this game doesn't want you to progress, no full crossplay, no anti-cheat, lots of bugs, very bad hit boxes, hits not registering most of the time. Don't buy this game, if you did then refund. Not worth your time.

First impressions are important after all; you wouldn't turn up to a black tie event in shorts and a T-shirt and explain to the other guests that you'll change into your fancy suit later. -----

    The developers have done a great job of making a balanced and fun game with some very innovative and intelligent features. For instance, if you are killed, you won't spawn on your own you'll instead be released into the battle with other teammates as a group thus ensuring you'll not get picked-off as you approach the fight. Brilliant! And whilst some weapons and classes are stronger than others, you will find yourself in such a range of battle situations that there is no one-size-fits-all. So you'll find yourself constantly mixing up your classes and fighting a range of opponents keeping the game fun and varied. But on the other hand, some of the mechanisms seem bizarre. The same amount of damage appears to be dealt no matter when in the swing it makes contact; walking into range of an opponent when the weapon appears to have almost come to a stop will still lop your head off. -----

    The main concern that everyone has right now is the number of bugs present in the game, especially in relation to the servers and the party system. Whilst I have no doubt these will be fixed in time, it is still disappointing that these kind of errors weren't discovered and fixed before launch. This is why we have Betas after all. For anyone that is getting frustrated that patches aren't being released quickly enough, we need to remember that the team working on this game are smaller than the likes of the team working on Call of Duty, so it may take a while. Have some patience; this game will be brilliant when fixed. -----

    One last thing that is worth noting, if you are playing on PC with a controller, this game does not support PlayStation controller prompts i.e. you can still play with a Sony controller but you will only see Xbox controller icons everywhere. It would be nice to see this addition made at some point in the future. -----

    This has the potential to be an excellent game and I am excited to play that fixed version. If you can ignore the bugs, then you will enjoy this game even now, but if you want a smoother and less frustrating experience without the bugs, we just need to have some patience; the patch is coming for sure.    … Expand

I would list the bugs and missing features, but I might as well write a novel. I'll just say it a is a melee team game where the melee is broken and you can't make a team. We had 3 months of no vote kicks so there was constant team kill farming then it was followed by an update that broke the server browser.     I really enjoyed this game...but. Since they added horses which are alone badly programmed, glitchy and hard to control. they dont run fast, doenst act like real ones. So since they added them theres more glitches like hitting through block if you got bad enemy got bad ping, duke/heir no respawn glitches and random problem with respawn (no count) so for now like 2022 i wouldnt recommendI really enjoyed this game...but.     textures are bad, you stuck all the time. in stairs, in roofs, in stones, cant jump on a 20 centimeters at the river.
    parry frames are stupid, it feels like they just covers the character fully. doesnt matter if i target foots or head guy with active parry is invincible. sometimes i even got blocked when hitting from behind...
    i also took i point from the score for the new map, its pure trash, the worst map in rotation

    so all those factors really negates all the enjoyment and longevity. im playing for about 25 hours now and im not sure a will for much longer. still i give this guys my money for the game and i hope that in future they will make next part better    … Expand

    Game is fun when it's working, however there are flaws even after launch for a long time on EGS. No rebinds for controller, team switching and stacking, while maps with low player counts is still not balanced. I believe I'm playing an early access game before it eventually launch on steam.

It's just hit ps plus and thought I'd finally give it a whirl and boy am I glad I saved myself some money. Don't get me wrong there's potential fun to be had with this game but the hit boxes are atrocious, the gameplay is simple (literally run forward try smack someone getI've wanted this game for so long but didn't want to pay the price they're askin for what is essentially a beta. Worst of it all is: you risk a Anti cheat ban coming out of the blue.. (even without cheats, or any suspecious programs running in the background.) Good luck contacting an admin if it happens .. As there are no way of contacting them unless you use discord, and give up personal information. They check your IP adress too.

    It's okay but it seriously needs some work on the interface. The customisation menu is terrible and doesn't show any of the subclasses. It's impossible to know just from this menu what weapons you can even use. Don't think I can be bothered playing this game anymore unless it gets fixed.

However, my honeymoon period is now over with this game and its myriad of mechanical issues is becoming more and more apparent. All this coupled with the fact that the game just doesn't have that much content ( 8 maps for a 40 dollar multiplayer only game? Really guys??) Has just lead to this game falling off pretty quickly for me, and I can already tell much of the community is feeling the same. I think this game has a lot of potential and I'm super happy there's a melee slasher that's more casual then Mordhau allowing for more casual players to enjoy the genre. Content wise though the game honestly reminds me of a early access title and I think it just needs quite a bit of polishing. I know no devs will read this but if for some reason one does I'd offer this extremely unsolicited advice. Focus on smaller patches and drop them more frequently, people know not everything is going to get fixed at once. It'd just be nice to thing some things getting done. Hopefully after a few patches I can safely recommend this game; unlike some of the other negative reivews on here I don't think the games **** I just don't think it was ready for a full release and its taking wayyy to long to start giving it the polish it deserves.… Expand

    A game that looks promising. If you want to play it solo - GO AHEAD. If you want to play it with your friend. Be ready that 'invite' feature doesn't work properly. Yep, multiplayer game focused on playing with others have the most important feature not working.

You can NOT disable post processing, disable blood or on screen blood and mud splatter. You can not even disable post processing antialiasing. FXAA or MLAA are also forced on.     Too many bugs, can't join up with friends, timing is off, collision models for small weapons is way off.

    Fix your game, or for now till then, at least let me play with my friends ffs.

    I played this game in the alpha and beta tests. I fell in love with it instantly. It felt very good for alpha and beta versions. I had high hopes the existing issues would be fixed, since, duh, it was alpha and beta tests.

    But no. That didnt happen. - The netcode is still horrible. No matter if 64p or 40p servers. It felt very good for alpha and beta versions. I had high hopes the existing issues would be fixed, since, duh, it was alpha and beta tests.

    But no. That didnt happen.

    - The netcode is still horrible. No matter if 64p or 40p servers. No matter if matchmaking servers and server browser servers (why make a difference anyway?). Often times you hit someone but it wont register. Often times you hit someones back, but they block that attack (!). Often times you see someone frontally swing at you (without dragging) and before that swing even hits you/completes the animation, you take damage. Arrows/bolts often fly through your target without doing damage (the flightpath is shown). Servers seem to degrade over time and restart unannounced, making you lose all progress you made during the game.

    - The spawn timer and game duration timer are way off. Sometimes you have 10 seconds left on the respawn timer, but you suddenly respawn and the other way around. Sometimes the game ends 30 seconds before the timer runs out and makes you lose/win very closely/unfairly.

    - The balance of most of the TO maps is very bad. That has become even more obvious after the players skills have increased since release. There are even exploits that have been there since the alpha an beta that havent been fixed.

    - Custom keymapping has many bugs and wont work properly in some cases. Also some keys do 2 things, even though they shouldnt and it poses a problem in combat, like jump and dodge on the same key.

    - Sometimes when the game starts, many players will be invisible for 30+ seconds and only load in very slowly and they will suddenly pop up being visible. So you will often hit their ghosts (teammates and enemies) or get killed by invisible players and will have no idea whats going on. Probably another issue with the horrible netcode. This also rarely happens in the middle of the game (newly joined players?)

    - The better the player skill gets, the more of a problem archers become. You already have to worry more about them than the guy in front of you swinging his axe at you. A lot have become very audacious because of that already, by going very close to the front line without having to fear anything, while picking up people one by one, with every single arrow/bolt hitting. Imagine what happens in a few weeks, when headshots become more common. There needs to be a hard counter to them. Maybe a new class, like a rogue. Or add servers that exclude them.

    - Customization is still very bugged. If you wear a helmet and it gets knocked off, your chosen hairstyle and beard wont display. You also cant choose some hair colors.

    - The existing servers are not what was hoped. There should be TO servers only, but there are only mixed servers for people who want to play only TO.

    - Bots need to be removed. They do nothing to improve the game. They mess up your combat, because they can ignore your riposte and counters and hit and turn very fast. They often get stuck, while the other teams bots wont and thus create a huge balance issue.
    Plus on matchmaking servers, for whatever reason, there will always be 6 bots on each side, even if there are already 40 or 64 human players on the server.

    - There are too many metas already. Axes and one-hand weapon loadouts are simply too strong, for example, and thus a lot of experienced people use them only. The footman is so weak that almost nobody uses him anymore. He was actually better in earlier versions.

    - There is no 5.1/surround sound support!!! Also there are many random battle sounds around you that make you think theres fights happening to your sides, but there isnt anything!

    Ans many other issues and weird choices, that can be very nerve wracking and unfair. Most of them very obvious and Im sure very easy to fix. But to me it seems the devs have never played their own game because they are that obvious. But they also didnt listen to the alpha and beta testers, because all those mentioned issues here have been reported multiple times and were ignored. In fact they really never asked for real bug reports. Only made some polls. And then they promised that bugs would be fixed with the final version, yet they werent or were made worse.

    Instead they now add a useless stats feature, that shows your K/D, which doesnt tell anything in this game, unless youre a 1 vs 1 duel player only.

    I am still waiting for the first patch and what it fixes to see where they are heading. But its taking too long already.

    Chivalry is a great game. I'd give it a 10 just for being absolutely metal as all **** then -1 for the clunky controls, and -2 because this is pretty much a carbon copy of the first Chivalry with absolutely nothing added or changed. You can make a fully informed decision on whether to buy this game by watching a gameplay video for like 3 minutes.

    This is battlefield meets ancient England. I love it! The combat may look boring in video but its very complex and nuanced. Non stop laughs and its engaging. I don't get why no major reviews are out for it yet. This is a must have IMO

    The game is amazing, lots of fun. The party system is horrendous. I could a bar of drunks into a straight line better than these guys can make a party / invite system.
    If you have no friends, play the game.
    If you have friends to play with, go play literally any other game and avoid Epic.

    It's just feels like a dumbed down mordhau that wasn't ready for release. Animations on characters turn to 1fps at around 40m. Arrows go straight through people, arrows miss people completely only to kill them seconds later. Combat feels janky as all round.

    A few complaints from an otherwise great game. A couple of the maps don't feel fully balanced. The javelin feels like utter trash; it doesn't do enough damage while it can be blocked by any weapon instead of just a shield. Also late stage auto balance literally feels like a slap in the face; after spending in some matches a good twenty minutes fighting and helping push your team forward only to be switched to the other side is just plain bull (doesn't matter if it puts me onto the winning or losing team). This autobalance is the main reason I give this game an 8 instead of a 9; it has happened too many times already.    … Expand

It's cross-platform so you can enjoy it with all of your friends. As a new player you can do well, but as you play more you understand how theChivalry 1 created a brand new genre. Runs well on my laptop even though i only have a 1050ti. great work by the dev team! 10/10 cant stop playing

    It's very fun, and the reviews from more than 4 months ago are now wrong, because of the numerous patches. It is often on sale, so that helps. The sheer amount of archers killing you isn't that hard to avoid, especially if you have a shield.

    First Time I play a game in this genre, never played the first one. It has a few bugs and things that can be improved but graphics are great, gameplay is fun, gore, a great game to chill out for some time. It it had a single player mode it would be better. Crossplay is going to be implemented soon so thats good. No lag, nice combat mechanics.

Overall more combat moves, bigger maps, more players, more limbs flying and stuff blowing up to the clamor of raucous laughter.

    -The controls are clunky : The game feels responsive to me. There are occasional glitches where the hitbox can feel a bit off but those are not common and are obviously internet hiccup. All action online games can have those. Plenty of people playing so you can pick a server with low ping and if your internet is good you should have a fine time.

    The combat is bad: I completely disagree. The combat is rich with different moves and counters. You can also throw pretty much anything, which is super fun. The controls and combat rotation can be complex or simple depending on your play style. Some play styles are easier which makes the game more accessible to new or casual players. And this is a good thing. If you are good you can jump into the fray with a short sword and dance around the blows and be a legend. Or.. You can stand behind with a bow. I like the two-handed spear. Pretty easy to play phalanx style. Just stand next to your comrades, slightly behind as you have more reach and stab in the openings. You can 1v1 decently by once again keeping out of reach of the enemy but you are very vulnerable against multiple enemies where a weapon that you can swing in an arc would serve you better. Each class and weapons have strength and weaknesses.

    It is not on steam : The fact that it is an epic store exclusive for 1 year on PC can be contentious. The reason for that is obviously money. The game uses Unreal engine. Sales made on the epic have the unreal engine royalties waived and the devs get like 88% of the money from the sale. On steam they only get 65%. Torn banner did not have a commercial success since chivalry 1. I think they just need to get their finance back in good health so they can continue to develop and support their games. They probably threw all they had on Chivalry 2. They gambled they would get a better return by selling on epic store even if it meant losing some sales and getting bad comments from the Steam-or-nothing folks. You can agree with this or not but it does not change to fact that I think the game is amazing.

    A few negatives to keep things balanced :
    -I think the menus ( especially the armory ) are a bit unintuitive and clunky. I find them annoying to navigate. But they are just menus. You can still get around and you get used to them.
    -I wish there was more in game music. I am very partial to games with rich and interesting music. In this regard Chivalry 2 is nothing to write home about. The music is not bad, it is professionally made. But it is generic orchestral stuff you have hear everywhere already and you only get it in game when the timer is about to expire.
    -I wish you could see weapon stats in the armory.
    -Sometimes the team objectives games behave weirdly in regards to the deserting mechanic. Can glitch and tell you that you are deserting but you are right where you are supposed to be. Or sometimes the action is simply not happening where the game thinks it should be and it will tag you with "deserting" and you die after 20 sec of "deserting" . Extremely frustrating but fortunately not often a problem.    … Expand

And in the fury of the moment I swing wide again and slash all three before getting hacked to pieces in their next barrage of attacks. And that's only ONE moment of the match in this f**king masterclass of a multiplayer game - only one point off for not having crossplay lobbies implemented.

    The combat here is very deep like that of for honnor, so if you dont like for honor, youre not gonna like this game.. .. its not very casual friendly.. you have to learn how to block and parry, time your attcks… this is a game that demands you master it to have any amount of fun…
    to be able to pick off other players as they surround you like sharks.. this is where Chivalry shines and youll be getting most of your enjoyment from.. testing yourself.
    My biggest complaint with Chivalry is that I feel like there is no rhyme or reason to anything.. no team strategy.. it really does just feel like run into battle and kill everyone while trying not to get killed, defend these positions or take these positons before time runs out… I did enjoy doing goofy bttle cries, running right to my death, but this joy wore off on me pretty quickly..
    Where Chivalry 2 got some of my joy back was in its free for all mode.. I felt like a god among knights in this mode, just slicing through everyone like warm butter as we all raced to be the first to 35 kills in an arena.. at least that’s what the game says.. but the matches definitely go beyong the first to 35…
    Overal Chivalry 2 cant quite get its hooks in me the way for Honor did… maybe the lack of modes… the lack of feeling like im doing anyything to contribute to my teams victories or losses…
    But I can appreciate the care put into this game and I can see the role players out there losing months to this game.

    300 hours on chivalry and around 200 on Mordhau here. I truly believe Chivalry 2 is the best of the bunch. Its casual enough for new players to quickly get it and with enough complexity for vets to enjoy. I ve been on it non stop since release and have yet to see the ridiculous drags of mordhau or the spinning shenanigans of chiv 1. 10/10 needs more maps

    This game features a tutorial worth playing which leads to a game which is hilariously fun to play.

    None of the few and far between bug or glitches truly spoil the experience of slashing your foes or headshotting knives into your allies heads by mistake. I only wish there were more game modes, more maps and formal duel arenas etc. Get it while it's hot, the servers are pumping

    The game has humor that actually fits to the game. You can war cry like a mad man any time you want and the game has this “voice wheel” where you can say things like: Yes, no, thanks etc and your character may say something funny. You can even taunt your enemies and yes they will hear everything your character says. The character customization is pretty good. There are 4 classes you can customize and they have their own armors and weapons. You can choose a face, beard, hair and even the voice of your character but you cant customize the faces and the voices fully. They are just presets. There is even armor customization but it’s also very limited. There are different armors but you need to unlock them with in game money you earn by playing the game. Or if you are a whale there is in game currency you can buy. There is also weapon skins but they are mostly just silver and goldish look for your weapons.

    The game modes are 32 vs 32 with random modes where you need to defend or attack depending what team you go to. There is also objectives what the teams need to do.

    There is also 20 vs 20 with the same modes

    And free for all

    There will probably be more stuff in the future i hope so. Just no pink weapon skins and anime armors please god no! This game might get boring to you really quick but it depends on you.     I'm 20 hours in on PC, and honestly can't see what others are complaining about. The netcode seems fine to me, combat is smooth and satisfying, hilarious moments are all over the place with the random items being used as weapons and environmental hazards. The only thing I would say it could do with more of is maps, though what we have are great already.

    The game is good, but there are many problems such as not being able to retrieve my gun when I drop it on the ground, not burning when I throw a firebomb somewhere, or not showing the gun in someone's hand. I think this game should still be in beta, they brought more bugs with the update.

    Chivalry 2 is a PERFECT GAME, it is 10/10 it is better than Mordhau easialy, and mordhau is amazing. Chivalry 2 is a masterpiece I love it.

    The game is amazing! It puts you in the adrenaline all the time. It makes you feel inside a medieval battlefield. It's bloody, gross and messy.... it's just perfect. Train the combos and the moves. Adapt yourself to the weapon that suits you better. Buy plenty of skins to custom your character. Last but not least, give your warcry and have fun!

    Chivalry 2 is an excellent game and a beautiful re-envision of it's predecessor. From satisfying swordplay to goofy roleplaying, Chivalry 2 is considered one of it's kind and whenever will always be a good time to play.

Poor matchmaking (recently fixed to actually back-fill but still frequently places people in the wrong region), seemingly broken server browser (can't find any populated servers in the browser, only through matchmaking).

    Your first couple of hours will probably be positive due to how Chaotic and unique the concept is, but after that you will hit a lack of depth and maps that will make playing very boring. It's also probably why the game reviews so well with critics who mostly base their scores on their early impressions.

    This game was released far too early and the devs very strongly give the impression they have no intention of fixing anything but major bugs, not perform polish (which is what the game badly needs) as well as release cosmetic content and maps which don't present any better balance than the current ones, which feels like a cash grab oriented strategy (the new cosmetics take so long to earn in game that presumably people will purchase them).

    I don't recommend this game, or the developer, in fact, they claimed to be turning over a new leaf and communicating better, but they have rapidly begun behaving much the same as they always have - uncommunicative and insular.    … Expand

    Ignore the crybabies. Yes, this game is difficult. You will need to learn the combat system and work with your team in order to do well. This is a thinking man's fighting game, so if you want mindless hack & slash then you should probably just stick to Assassin's Creed.

    performance issues. no team balancing, causes one team to lose by far. combat and overall gameplay is buggy and feels not finished(after 2 years of release btw). no chat of any kind if you didnt purchase the game from epic or steam(xbox users and console players cant chat). the only good thing about this game is how it looks and chopping people's head off(only if the game feels like it).

    Chiv 2 is a good game for CASUAL players who aren't looking for much of a challenge and aren't looking to invest much time into getting good at the game; it is great for people who just want to sit down and play a    For ease of comparison I will be using Mordhau as a reference, but even without it I believe it shouldn't be hard to understand this games weak points, and its strong points.

    Chiv 2 is a good game for CASUAL players who aren't looking for much of a challenge and aren't looking to invest much time into getting good at the game; it is great for people who just want to sit down and play a game or two then get back to life. This is due to its ridiculously low skill cap, which is a result of its heavily watered down combat system.

    While Chiv 1 and Mordhau, which many consider to be a successor to Chiv 1, offer a more in-depth and complex system, Chiv 2 offers are completely dumbed down, easier system which revolves around a couple buttons and easy to understand and pull off mechanics. While this may sound enticing to some people, I want to make it abundantly clear. Easier. Is. Not. Better.

    Due to it being so easy, fights often boil down to swing, block, swing, block. And while more advanced, or as advanced as you can get, players might spice it up a bit, there isn't much else they can do.

    In comparison, Mordhau has quite the more intimate system, allowing for skill to prevail while also allocating space for beginners to learn and devise their own ways of beating better players; whether that be flanking them or by simply throwing themselves into fights until they become good. Mordhau also offers enough variety that a fight can be entertaining and also challenging.

    But while the combat system may be bad, the game also has other aspects that do make it good. Because even I know that comparing it to Mordhau is not entirely fair.

    Chivalry 2 is a game meant for casual play, it is a game meant to be played by anyone and everyone. And while they may have taken that too far, that is really one of the only downsides. Another would be lack of customisation but I do not care for that much, so you will have to read other reviews for an honest review on that.

    So, what does Chivalry 2 do right? Well it does medieval scenes... somewhat right. It may not be historically accurate but it does put you in a pretty good atmosphere, and while some things like painful attempts to have funny voicelines may ruin it a bit, it overall does a good job at providing a medieval battle experience.

    It also does well in providing entertainment, because while a core mechanic like the combat may not be good, it is still enough for it to be fun as a casual game where your actions don't matter too much. I personally love charging in headfirst and tackling or skewering my enemies and then running back, and it is because this game is so casual that I am able to pull that off.

    Overall, the game isn't bad but it also isn't what most people expected and can become quite boring at times when all the action you get is swinging your blade at someone holding the block button. I think if they decided to emphasise the more casual side a bit more, and perhaps if it wasn't called Chiv 2 in the first place it would've been better received, but for now I think I won't be touching it much more.    … Expand

This makes the game far less skillful, and more LMB-spam based. It also means you're going to die essentially if you get ganked, which you will since the player limits are massive and the maps are small
    - Automatic death when out of bounds. Sounds reasonable, but the in-bounds area is way too small, and out of bounds areas are for different teams. I've had it where there are tons of archers perched on a wall as Mason, and if you attack them as Agatha you will be told you're abandoning the battle, meaning you have to leave or your character commits suicide within 20 seconds.
    - The game is extremely buggy. Black screen bug on respawn forcing you to commit suicide, desyncs every other game, fire pots not doing anything, losing side inexplicably winning TDM despite having less kills
    - Variety is nuked to oblivion in this installment. In Chivalry 1, every class had unique abilities and was distinct from one another. Archers were light and mobile, knights had lots of health, vanguards had sprint attack, MAA had dodge. Chivalry 2 decides to go the casual route, as with blocking, instead giving all these abilities to every single class. Now there is nothing unique but health, some weapon choices, and cosmetics, speaking of which...
    - Microtransactions. I don't care. I don't wanna hear the justifications. It's bad and should be removed.
    - Unintuitive menu which makes it difficult to find some of the game modes and server browser. Causes only FFA and 64 Team matches to have players. Duel is dead on arrival.
    - Throwables, like javelins are able to be blocked simply by holding RMB. Makes using javelins, an excellent class in Chivalry 1 virtually useless in this installment. Not to mention their damage output is downgraded.
    - Far less variety in weapon choices
    - Epic Games exclusive for 1 year

    Positives:
    - Good sound design, the maps feel very immersive
    - Good graphics overall.
    - Lag seems to have less effect on hit registration than Chivalry 1.
    - Map design is good

    Overall, I wanted this game to be good. I adored Chivalry 1 and only quit playing because the population declined until it was dead. It's not an inherently bad game at all. In fact, I'd probably consider it a quality game, if it weren't the successor to Chivalry 1. It feels like a cheap game with a much lower skill ceiling, that appeals to casuals who whined about being rightfully killed by better players in the first installments (AoC and Chiv 1). The game has devolved into spamming LMB to win, rather than parrying, chambering, riposting, feinting, and all the other unique aspects of the classes that made the first one great.

    For these reasons, despite it's qualities, it only gets 3/10 from me.    … Expand

    помимо обычной игры на реакцию с финтами, блоками и доводками, слегка поменялась игра на выносливость. только лёгкий удар и особый при промахе сулят потерей стамины, что вынуждает контр атаковать сильнее чем в первой части. а дальше мне лень писать, короче графон красивый, но кривой, баланс сил очень редко работает, меня только в бете меняло командой, или на релизе, хз, статы оружия непонятно как написаны , кастомизация есть, но мало если сравнивать с главным конкурентом, mordhau. хорошо что разработчики понимают какие у них режимы игры и какая боевка, простая боевка для массовых заруб и пару трюков для 1в1 боев, в mordhau боевка сложная для всех    … Expand

    Somehow, this irreverent hilarity and overwhelming brutality is a match made in heaven. Medieval warfare is terrifying, but it’s also inherently absurd. Bring us more of it.

    As is, Chivalry 2 features an immersive Team Objective mode that highlights all the best parts of this online multiplayer. The other two modes are okay in moderation and require you to do more button mashing than the precise motions you thought the game wanted you to perform all along. If you can get past some of its blander parts and focus on the joys of mastering swordplay, Chivalry 2 can be a lot of fun despite its weak spots.
