Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 relies on established features. Ultimately, the simulation lacks innovations.

There are some minor improvements here and there, but there’s no new big feature that screams – that’s where 3 years of development went. The only one reason to get CMS2021 for the full price is if you somehow missed the 2018 version. [Issue#256, p.56]

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 is, more than anything else, a light remaster of the previous instalment. It’s really pretty and its minigames are fun, but if you’re looking for anything significantly new, you’ll be disappointed. If you own CMS2018 with all its DLCs, there’s little reason to switch to the new one.

Developers from the Polish studio Red Dot Games have chosen the path of slow evolution of their brand – I'm still waiting for a revolution. I wanted a shiny new car straight from the factory – instead I got a decent used car, which, albeit pretty and working, isn't that spectacular.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 is a solid upgrade to the CMS series. All of the updated items and graphics will be a welcome addition to past players and a perfect place to start for new ones. It certainly isn't a game anyone would want to binge over a weekend, but any car repair fan will enjoy this one for years to come - or until the next instalment in the series, if it continues to evolve and adapt towards more detail-oriented play.

A software that passes itselfI believe that many editors of specialized magazines do not have the knowledge to review a title of this type. A software that passes itself off as a "simulator" and instead is a simple 3D reproduction of car parts, more or less official. Many disassembly of parts in reality are not absolutely necessary for disassembly.
For example, to disassemble the ABS, the shock absorber or the brake disc does not need to open them in their sub-components, while the game forces you to do so. Indeed, it is practically always possible to disassemble the entire suspension (shock absorber, brake disc, brake caliper, stub axle with hub, drive shaft and swinging arm) keeping the pieces all together. On the other hand, if you want to remove the brake booster, which in in-game cars can always be reached without difficulty, you often have to remove the engine and gearbox in order to access it. Furthermore, very often, you can remove the engine and gearbox by keeping them together, while in the game to remove the engine you have to remove the cylinder head first, which makes no sense. The engine can be removed from cars with its electrical components still attached, i.e. alternator, starter and ABS. The game forces you to disassemble even the smallest details, which is useless in most of the practical cases. I have also seen players who first remove the rear window to remove the rear hatch. But know what it takes then to reassemble it? Removing the rear window and then removing the door just for to work on a vehicle with mechanics in the rear is simply insane, but if the game removes the door only if you remove the rear window first, the gamer is forced to follow this crazy procedure.
You could find dozens of inaccuracies of this type, which for a title that wants to be a "simulator" are not good.
The only positive side is that, for those who are totally lacking in knowledge in the car mechanic sector, you learn how the pieces generally look and how they are called, but it is absolutely not a mechanics simulation, so I hope that from the next episode remove that "simulator" from the title.

IsThe thing is, in terms of complexity at the time of managing the technical aspect of a car, the game is great. But it lacks satisfaction. Is not relaxing but more like a chore to play. Instead of a nice puzzle to complete feels more like a task. And at the end, you fix the car, check the "complete contract" button and the car disappears. Not a reward screen, not a money balance to see how much you spend against how much you won. The car is just gone and now go for the next contract... Full Review »

The drag racing dlc also gives you another avenue to make money + actually use your cars instead of fixing and selling/storing them. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 10 is some missing features that would wrap it all together like driving the cars around your lot or more uses for the warehouse. Full Review »
