With 8 varied and worthwhile titles to check out from several of Capcom's best series, this is a proper celebration of a bygone but ever-lasting era of fighting games.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is by far the best and most well-rounded compilation of fighting games the studio has put out so far. There’s truly something for everyone here, from the ocean-deep mechanics of Capcom vs. SNK 2 to the madcap party fun of the Power Stone games. Capcom Fighting Evolution is still a dud and could’ve been replaced with literally anything else, but this is an otherwise unmissable collection for both local and online play.

Despite a couple of duds in Capcom Fighting Collection 2, there is so much good stuff on offer here and a couple of legit all-timers.

While not every game in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is equally balanced or polished, the variety and care taken in preservation make it a standout retro bundle that’s definitely worth the price.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a journey back in time to an era of transition, where video games evolved to clearer graphics, finer presentations, and much more stable experiences. Each title represents a generation of fans who enjoyed the great graphics of the time and the excellent gameplay of fighting games.

While the extras don't add much to the package, the collection of often unreleased 3D fighters with online support makes this an easy recommend. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has a lot of fun fighters with depth and energy, offering a myriad of unique experiences.

Capcom's new compilation is a great collection that will please many fighting game fans, although it would deserve more significant graphical improvements.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 fulfills a very important role by preserving another brilliant part of Capcom's history, but it also shows that the company has little interest in changing the formula of its collections. The lack of cross-play is very regrettable, while some interface problems, present in previous releases, are also present here.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is an easy recommendation for any fighting game fan. Even though Capcom Fighting Evolution isn't that great, the rest of the lineup ranges from solid to stone cold classics. The online performance is quite good, and each individual game is deep enough that they'll keep anyone busy for a long time. Unless you only like a specific type of fighting game or dislike Capcom's output, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a must-have title.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a collection of obvious historical value, shining the spotlight on a selection of lesser-known but significant titles within the long tradition of Capcom fighting games. Technically well realised, with netcode rollback and unlocked content right out of the box, it represents an excellent rediscovery opportunity for fans and the curious alike. However, some controversial choices - such as a Capcom Fighting Jam that no one asked for, or the requirement of the EO version of Capcom vs. SNK 2 in ranked matches - reduce its competitive potential and risk alienating veterans. At the moment, it feels more like a collection for nostalgics and collectors than a platform on which to build a new online scene, but Capcom has shown it knows how to listen to fans' complaints and who knows, maybe Capcom vs SNK 2 could break free of the shackles of that unfortunate revision very soon.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a respectable collection. Even with the absence of console modes in some games and the lack of crossplay, the package delivers quality fights, plenty of behind-the-scenes content, a packed museum, and competent netcode. If you're a fan of fighting games or want to get to know titles that marked an era, this is an unmissable opportunity.

Although the Marvel vs Capcom collection just about edges this one for the quality of games on offer, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a close second place, with the two Power Stone games and CVS2 in particular being excellent fighting games still worth checking out. Capcom are really onto something with these back catalogue reissues as of late and I feel it is something worth supporting, because there’s still plenty more in their archives that would benefit greatly from being part of a collection like this, with all the features you could want from a modern fighting game in one easily accessible package.

As a piece of history, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a must-play for anyone who missed out on the late '90s/early '00s era of fighting games and especially those who lived through it. It combines so many kinds of games together within a single genre that its breadth is impressive even if its scope is "just fighting games." The archival images and soundtracks are also fascinating and having access to so much high-quality artwork is a treat for the eyes and makes this another must-buy for fans of that aspect of the industry. Not every game here is going to be to everyone's liking, and it's a shame console-exclusive modes weren't put in for everything, but it's still an incredible collection of titles executed very well.

Technically sound and quite varied collection of eight classics, most of them aged gracefully. Could do with a bit more meaningful curation, but offers a lot of options to be enjoyed even by today's standards.

All told, this is another great compendium of some of Capcom's best fighting games in their history. How many more Capcom can put together, however, remains to be seen.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is another great work for the preservation of classic videogames. There are no major changes in this "second installment" compared to the previous collection, however, the work done remains valid and the titles chosen are very solid. Sure, the predecessors of Plasma Sword and Project Justice could have been included and some additional surprises added, but it is difficult to have serious complaints for the whole package, outside of the lack of crossplay. The company clearly cares about many of its old classics... who knows if we'll see other big names back in the future.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is great for many reasons, ranging from being a means of preserving fantastic games, easily play Power Stone, and reminding people the Rival Schools series existed. The roster of games available is sound, though I’m not a fan of Capcom Fighting Evolution. The online component seemed stable under the conditions I tested it and like a boon for accessibility. Not only that, but the actual accessibility features that make it more inviting for beginners and allow us insights into development via the Museum are lovely. I suppose it’d be appropriate to call this a sensible collection that fills missing gaps when it comes to accessing Capcom’s library.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is one of the more impressive entries in Capcom's growing series of compilation titles precisely because it unearths and preserves an eclectic selection of titles that often get overshadowed by larger series like Street Fighter or Darkstalkers. Each of the included titles' arcade modes is still incredibly fun while they last, and bringing underrated classics like Power Stone to a modern audience brings hope that Capcom might revive the series someday. Casual fans will quickly run out of reasons to regularly return to each of the included games unless they decide to dabble in online multiplayer, but as another entry in the Capcom Fighting Collection series, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is just as essential as its two predecessors and a must-have for fans of Dreamcast-era fighting games.

Seeing these long-forgotten classics rise from the dead warms my Dreamcast lovin' heart. The Capcom vs SNK and Power Stone titles are worth the price of admission alone.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 seems to be aimed at a smaller audience than the first collection, but most of the titles are good enough to warrant a purchase on their own.

If you're into fighting games, this compilation should satisfy you. It's clear that Capcom is making every effort to appeal to new players as well. This includes options to facilitate learning without forgetting veterans who will be able to rediscover the ultimate versions of their fighting games, now playable online against real opponents remotely. But despite these efforts, it's hard to deny that these titles won't appeal to everyone for several reasons: the gameplay is sometimes dated, the graphics are from another era, even if the overall package hasn't aged so badly. Furthermore, they all require a significant investment to really get the most out of them...

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 does great work in finally bringing both the Capcom vs. SNK games and the Power Stone games to modern platforms. While some of these games are an important part of Capcom's history, they don't stand the test of time. Regardless, it's hard to argue that Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is an excellent treatment of some forgotten classics in the Capcom canon.

Between the unlocked artwork, dev notes, and over 300 original bangers in the music player, this is a celebration of retro fighting games. A celebration that proves these games will never not be legendary.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a solid collection of mostly good fighters. Capcom did a great job of modernizing certain aspects, like having rollback netcode in all of the games, and allowing you to save at any point. With the resurgence of Capcom over the last few years, this is a great way to continue that upward trajectory and set themselves up for the future, should they recognize that there is a certain series in there that we want back. [Highly Recommended]
