Mix of adventure and platformer game excels especially with beautiful environment and clever puzzles. Controls and storytelling style unfortunately failed. [Issue #271]

Candle’s got a lot going for it – beautiful visuals, varied puzzles and a decent level of difficulty. On the other hand controls can be annoying and distinct artistic style resembling living paintings sometimes makes it hard to distinguish elements on screen. [01/2017, p.61]

Despite the immense annoyance at the decision to include hidden platforms as a requirement for progression, I loved Candle. Introducing point-and-click adventure game elements into platformers is sure to benefit both genres and as a point-and-click adventure geek, I have rarely enjoyed a platformer more than I did this one. It’s by no means perfect, but I can’t wait for the sequel. Please, Teku Studios, just make sure I can see where I’m going.

What an astonishing debut for Teku Studios! “Candle” is a terrific, gorgeous yet challenging game, that one must be either mentally short or emotionally inadequate in order not to acknowledge its high value and love it.

Developers Teku Studios clearly poured a lot of love and effort into Candle and it shows. From the breathtaking scenery and artwork to the terrific puzzle designs and unique worlds to discover and characters to interact with, Teku’s journey is easily one that deserves to have a light shone on it as well, as a showcase of a terrific platformer and adventure game.

The successful combination of an adventure and a platformer has it all – almost. If you decide to go with Teke for an approximately eight-hour journey, you will certainly not regret any minute of this journey.

Teku Studios has needed four years of development to finish Candle. Every day has been worth it. Candle is one of the most beautiful adventure of the year and a very complex one.

Candle is a videogame that does not stay in its artistic beauty, but also has deep gameplay mechanics and a world full of details. One of the best surprises of the year.

Candle is not just a pretty face. It is difficult, uses a powerful visual narrative and is, in a few words, charming. If you are lovers of puzzles and platforms games, Candle is a must have.

Sometimes I wanted to kill the designers, but I remember having that same feeling playing Monkey Island and I still love Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer :-D

Nice game. Loved the story and the ending.

It has challenging puzzles, an interesting story (with an awesome narrator voice!), and the best 2D art I've ever seen in my entire life. I did some research and it seems that these guys made it entirely handmade, using watercolours! That is quite a feat on their side.

Also, the music is superb and the characters are lovely. And, for an indie title, it is surprisingly long! It took me 16h to complete this game, and a bit more to get all its Achievements.

To sum it up: get this game!!
