The game’s story is pretty forgettable. Its only been a day since I completed the campaign and I’ve already forgotten most of what happened. I remember your characters name is “Soap” and an atomic bomb gets dropped at one point. Other than that, this story was in one ear and out the other.

The gameplay itself is the appeal of this game. It’s a tight, well made first person shooter. My biggest complaint about the combat is, it’s not the run and gun style that I enjoy out of a first-person shooter. It’s going for a more “realistic” feel and that’s okay but its never going to get me to love the game.

I never played the original but my impression of this remaster is that its a very well done port. The shooting feels good and its a nice short campaign. I enjoyed it enough that I went online and ordered Modern Warfare 2 and 3 for my Xbox 360. I probably won’t play them anytime too soon but I will play both by the end of the year.

Probably the best game remaster I have ever seen. I am truly enjoying the graphics and the game that hasn't yet turned into a futuristic nano-crap. This game brought back the old memories from the times COD was actually a great FPS and not only the hype it is today

This is review of the remaster, not the actual game. I'm rating how good the developers reflected original game, not how good the plot is etc.

It's a great choice for people that never played MW and consider it's graphics to old to handle and for people that played MW and want to refresh their memory of it. It's multiplayer is a great way to show how CoD multiplayer changed since 9 years ago. The biggest disadvantage is very low amount of players making most of multiplayer modes unplayable (because it's impossible to find anybody playing them).

This is more like an actual Remake, rather than a remaster. It has a great scenery, good sounds and optics and a great single Player Campaign.

Though the sprawling level design and pacing are definitely dated, the core of Modern Warfare’s combat has aged remarkably well, and that foundation keeps its action movie-style campaign and its multiplayer fun even nine years later. However, outside of its impressive face lift it offers only a few additions to make it feel new to returning players. Expand

First of all I was shocked how low the rating for this game is. Then I found out it is mainly because of the multiplayer issues about which I don't care about since I was interested only in the campaign and dear God it delivered.

First of all I was shocked how low the rating for this game is. Then I found out it is mainly because of the multiplayer issues about which I don't care about since I was interested only in the campaign and dear God it delivered.

A little bit of my background: the only CoD game I played before was World at War which I can't say I loved much (7/10). I can't say I disliked WaW but there certainly are some aspects I would rather like to see be improved and enhanced - that's exactly what happened in CoD:Modern Warfare Remastered. I didn't like how scarce the range of weapons to use was in WaW? MW has at least doubled that amount. I wasn't impressed with how the guns felt? MW made everything possible to make you feel the weight of the weapon you carry. I didn't like how NOT tactical World ar War was. It felt like it didn't matter that much where do I hide or what weapon I use - as long as I am a good shooter and move my aim quickly and precisely I am going to dominate the battlefield. It is not the case for this game. I doesn't matter how good your shooting skills are, how fast and precise your moves are if you don't choose the right tactics, the right weapon, the right cover - you aren't going to last long (of course if you play on Hard difficulty which I always recommend you to choose no matter what game you play).

Graphics. Should I really say much about the graphics? For my taste they are gorgeous, though the animation and physics of dead bodies are definitely exaggerated (though the settings have the option to turn off ragdoll physics but it doesn't help much). The optimisation is okay I guess because I managed to get stable 1080@60 on Highest settings and x2 Multisampling with my GTX 1660.

Story. Let's be honest: the story is kind of "just there". It is not bad in any way - maybe it even is as good as a story in a FPS can get I just didn't care about it that much. I don't even think it is the game's fault - a storyline isn't just what people come to a FPS for and I am not an exception. Though the characters could be given much more attention and development - it certainly wouldn't hurt ( I only remember that Price has funny moustache and English accent or something and that Gaz is a good looking fella with a nice cap. Oh, and Griggs is black and we saved his life.)

Overall it is a fantastic game and a good remaster. In terms of gameplay I can't even imagine what could be improved - the pure shooting is already fun by itself so maybe if MW 2 is at least as good as this one in terms of "story" and mission structure I can't wait to play it ASAP.

It’s nice to see old friends again and relive fond memories, but if Modern Warfare somehow failed to enrapture you back in the day, it most likely won’t do it now. [13/2016, p.40]

Ultimately, Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered might be the best remaster I’ve ever played. Everything is updated and beautiful, without losing a single thing long-time fans loved about the original. If you’ve ever wanted to see where the online multiplayer craze started, this is it – and it holds up amazingly well.

An exemplary remaster of a classic shooter which is still a milestrone of the genre as far as gameplay is concerned.
