Mostly a copy/paste to the new engine. Performance is pretty bad, with reasonable settings (high-max) there is a lot of hitching and big frame drops. This is with a GTX 1080 and i7 3770k @4.3ghz.
On top of this, it has no dedicated servers, nothing is really improved besides the graphics, and it's hidden behind Infinite Warfare.

Remasterception : Remastering a game with the same old engine.

+Some new gun sounds are great
+Original (same) voices of all characters

COD games are already remastered edition of each other (even DLCs of each other), so no one needs a remaster of a COD game. Cheap moves from the big AAA companies these days, seriously...

frame drops are frequent, and settings have no effect on fps. R9 290 Maxed gives 30 - 90 fps, R9 290 min gives 30 - 90 fps. n1 raven.

The game’s story is pretty forgettable. Its only been a day since I completed the campaign and I’ve already forgotten most of what happened. I remember your characters name is “Soap” and an atomic bomb gets dropped at one point. Other than that, this story was in one ear and out the other.

The gameplay itself is the appeal of this game. It’s a tight, well made first person shooter. My biggest complaint about the combat is, it’s not the run and gun style that I enjoy out of a first-person shooter. It’s going for a more “realistic” feel and that’s okay but its never going to get me to love the game.

I never played the original but my impression of this remaster is that its a very well done port. The shooting feels good and its a nice short campaign. I enjoyed it enough that I went online and ordered Modern Warfare 2 and 3 for my Xbox 360. I probably won’t play them anytime too soon but I will play both by the end of the year.

Dated and hasn't aged well one bit to be honest, boring singleplayer campaign and a shallow multiplayer mode with loads of exploits. Cheating is very frequent and items and weapons are unbalanced. On top of all that it runs like hot garbage on PC. i7, 16GB ram and a 1080GTX will often stutter, lag and drop under 60 fps on 1440P and even 1080P. The game does not justify the drops whatsoeverDated and hasn't aged well one bit to be honest, boring singleplayer campaign and a shallow multiplayer mode with loads of exploits. For every occasional fun moment there is 30 unpleasant experiences making it not worth the pain.

TL:DR: A sluggish and old shooter that pretty much bases it's survival on nostalgia rather than it's actual gameplay. Oh and that also runs like a dead slug...

It's a great choice for people that never played MW and consider it's graphics to old to handle and for people that played MW and want to refresh their memory of it. It's multiplayer is a great way to show how CoD multiplayer changed since 9 years ago. The biggest disadvantage is very low amount of players making most of multiplayer modes unplayable (because it's impossible to find anybody playing them).

    Multiplayer review?

On launch day; only 134 players in the past 11 minutes, in the last 24 hours there was 451 players, all time was 6,075 players (stats from SteamCharts).

You WILL be spending most of your time in lobbies. At this point, someone should create a Discord server so that people that want to play the game can get into lobbies quick and easy with players that also want to play this game. Mostly everyone is playing either TDM or HC TDM, all I want to play is HC SnD.

I personally only bought it because the original COD 4 on PC never had a workable lobby like on Xbox 360/PS3, only a server browser. So Infinity Ward never gave and/or stopped supporting Official servers like what MWR has. I searched for a lobby in HC SnD, we had 5 players and we needed 1 more player to play. A guy in our lobby stated "this might be the first time I might actually play HC SnD." Believe it or not, we didn't play, we found no one. He told us to switch to normal SnD to see if we can find a match there, nope, same results.

What Activision should do is give a chunky discount to users who have COD 4 in their Steam library.

    Pros;
    - The game itself, oh my... The memories.
    - Graphics
    - Game lobbies
    - Some of the guns got improved sounds, some should have just been left alone.
    - Better animations

    Cons;
-- The price, I paid $49.59 (from its standard $80, during the MWR standalone launch sale) for the deluxe edition to have both IW and MWR. The MWR price, then with the expectations to buy the DLC (I didn't) also to play on all the maps, the standard price point of MWR is stupidly high for a remastered game that has a dead community.
    - MWR is filled with Activision’s greed. Microtransactions up the bum hole.
    - New weapons, are they really needed? Including melee weapons, really? Can you just leave that for other crap CoD titles?
    - No dedicated servers, all peer to peer host connections like normal CoD.
    - Game modes show a % size, instead of an actual number. This means you don't know actually how many players are in a game mode.
    - Small community = only x amount of game modes can actually be played. Everything else is a ghost town. Most, if not all game modes have "< 5%" of people playing/searching for that game mode. In reality, it's probably like 0.5%. Get into a lobby and it says 'No Match Found.'
    - The snipers. You were able to quick scope easily in the COD 4. In this? It's slow and horrible.
    - It has 0 Steam integration whats so ever in-game. When I click on a player names, it should have the option to go to that users Steam profile (like how Xbox and PlayStation has one to go to a users 'gamercard/profile).'

    Bugs/Glitches:
    - At times when people are talking during the process of the match being over and goes back to the main lobby. The game freezes for a few seconds and the players voices just repeat.
    - Even with extra video memory available the game can easily lag and hiccup when loading into a match. It will then lag and hiccup again once you get into a match, but after awhile it doesn't do it anymore.

    Tips:
    - Upon starting the game, be sure to pre-cache the shadows. If you don't you will receive server timeout messages when entering a match due to all the shadows that you need to load.

At this point in time, they should just do cross-platform with Xbox/PlayStation so that we can play with them.

MWR multiplayer is not worth it right now. But, if you have the extra cash lying around get it. It's not that bad if you just close your eyes when you see the paid DLC and microtransactions.

This now 10 year old game has been polished and looks and feels like it fits in with modern games today.
This game features of course a multiplayer mode that is easily the most fun mode of this game, featuring your standard call of duty competitive modes as well as a mode I haven’t seen in a call of duty game before prop hunt where you switch sides being a prop and hiding and being the team searching for the props
though this online multiplayer does add in a loot box system for the modern day to unlock items such as skins
I didn’t find maps to be anything special, but as of right now this is the purest form of simple gunplay offered from a call of duty on current gen consoles, so if that’s what youre searching for you wont be disappointed as shooting is just as smooth and fun as its always been
Speaking of not special though, I havnt played every call of duty game to date, but out of the 6 I have played.. this 6 hours campaign is easily the dullest ive played through…
    its generic and uneventful throughout..
you play through the perspective of 6 different characters, though if I didn’t tell you this you would have no clue, as every character and mission feels and looks nearly identical throughout
This campaign takes place in the middle east and Russia as youre dealing with both a civil war as well as taking out targets responsible for the execution of a middle eastern president..
The level design here is boring
I didn’t play the original call of duty 4 but I had so much dejavu playing this game like ive played it 1 million times before
that’s how uninspired this games design is
everything was so predictable, no cool set pieces or cool moments like call of duty is known for today..
    just your typical linear
go forward and shoot things, and search houses that you know your target isn’t in but do it any way just cause… until you get to the end and climb in a helicopter
ive never been so bored playing through a first person shooter campaign in my life…
    theres just nothing special here….
    its mediocre
For its time Call of Duty 4 may have been a great and innovative game…
But today Modern Warfare Remastered is a collection of a mediocre shooter campaign and an okay competitive mode…
youre better off just waiting down the line for call of duty world war 2 for whats sure to be a much more complete package
I give Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered

Infinity Ward does a pretty solid job at remastering one of Call of Duty's most iconic games in the franchise, however the game never got to succeed as the company forced players to purchase Infinite Warfare in order to play it and the multiplayer quickly died as a result. If you buy this game you are only going to be able to play the campaign, however it is still a decent game regardless.

First of all I was shocked how low the rating for this game is. Then I found out it is mainly because of the multiplayer issues about which I don't care about since I was interested only in the campaign and dear God it delivered.

A little bit of my background: the only CoD game I played before was World at War which I can't say I loved much (7/10). I can't say I disliked WaW but there certainly are some aspects I would rather like to see be improved and enhanced - that's exactly what happened in CoD:Modern Warfare Remastered. I didn't like how scarce the range of weapons to use was in WaW? MW has at least doubled that amount. I wasn't impressed with how the guns felt? MW made everything possible to make you feel the weight of the weapon you carry. I didn't like how NOT tactical World ar War was. It felt like it didn't matter that much where do I hide or what weapon I use - as long as I am a good shooter and move my aim quickly and precisely I am going to dominate the battlefield. It is not the case for this game. I doesn't matter how good your shooting skills are, how fast and precise your moves are if you don't choose the right tactics, the right weapon, the right cover - you aren't going to last long (of course if you play on Hard difficulty which I always recommend you to choose no matter what game you play).

Graphics. Should I really say much about the graphics? For my taste they are gorgeous, though the animation and physics of dead bodies are definitely exaggerated (though the settings have the option to turn off ragdoll physics but it doesn't help much). The optimisation is okay I guess because I managed to get stable 1080@60 on Highest settings and x2 Multisampling with my GTX 1660.

Story. Let's be honest: the story is kind of "just there". It is not bad in any way - maybe it even is as good as a story in a FPS can get I just didn't care about it that much. I don't even think it is the game's fault - a storyline isn't just what people come to a FPS for and I am not an exception. Though the characters could be given much more attention and development - it certainly wouldn't hurt ( I only remember that Price has funny moustache and English accent or something and that Gaz is a good looking fella with a nice cap. Oh, and Griggs is black and we saved his life.)

Overall it is a fantastic game and a good remaster. In terms of gameplay I can't even imagine what could be improved - the pure shooting is already fun by itself so maybe if MW 2 is at least as good as this one in terms of "story" and mission structure I can't wait to play it ASAP.

It’s nice to see old friends again and relive fond memories, but if Modern Warfare somehow failed to enrapture you back in the day, it most likely won’t do it now. [13/2016, p.40]

Ultimately, Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered might be the best remaster I’ve ever played. Everything is updated and beautiful, without losing a single thing long-time fans loved about the original. If you’ve ever wanted to see where the online multiplayer craze started, this is it – and it holds up amazingly well.

An exemplary remaster of a classic shooter which is still a milestrone of the genre as far as gameplay is concerned.
