The game is not enclosed soul, the game is made to extort money. I truly loved the game. I sincerely defended MW3, but after BO2 I can not play it. I honestly cried when killed ghost, but now I hate this game. It is absolutely identical to the first MW.

It is clear that Treyarch are the lead developers in the CoD franchise and not the new-look Infinity Ward who still cannot deliver an experience that is fluid and consistent. The campaign is characterless, shallow and short and at 4 hours of completion; it is hardly worth including such a feature.

The multiplayer is a combination of what we've seen before from both development houses but doesn't take the series any further as promised. The games doesn't run very smoothly and is blighted by annoying niggles when the action gets chaotic. The maps seem bigger but very poorly designed and often messy. This makes the spawns terrible and sometimes you can wonder around for long periods way away from the firefights and enemies and other occasions you can spawn right in front of the opposition. This is frustrating as the action becomes favourable and unblalanced which leads to scrappy matches fought on large areas in condensed spaces with players then being planted on the outskirts, desperate to find a way back into the mix.

Theatre mode has been omitted which is a major backwards step and doesn't help identifying hackers. You either need a capture card or have to accept your highlights will be living long in your memory. The general presentation seems watered down with minimal stats and features these elements have been replaced by waves of confusing menus that mean little to casual players who just want to pick up and play. The HUD presentation and general in-game graphics look dated to the extent; parodies and fan-made material has looked more impressive.

The modes are a redeeming aspect along with the new create a soldier function but ultimately everything is a spin on the existing format but just adds a twist. The new modes to the playlist are interesting but SnD and Hardpoint along with Demo have been removed which may upset some gamers particularly on console. Even though I personally don't opt for such gametypes; I feel the dissatisfaction amongst those who do and it highlights along with other features that have been removed.

Extinction is something on the side IW's attempt at zombies but with Aliens;- can't see that kicking off entirely but at least they've tried something other than the dreadful Spec Ops as seen in MW3.

Overall Ghosts is a step back but does retain the typical positives that has made the game so popular. The omissions of theatre mode and the in-depth stats in a major blow and in some instances is unforgiveable. IW, Neversoft and Raven who have churned this title out clearly don't have the desire to match Treyarch's approach to the games. The quality and general execution is not of the same professionalism and it's all set-up for possibly Black Ops 3 to get the series back on track. I think Ghosts is decent for a CoD but after BO2; it doesn't enhance the franchise as much as we expected.

While most people are focusing the review score on the multiplayer component of the game, the singleplayer was absolutely brilliant. The story line is absolutely stunning with a rather emotional ending, along with various new game mechanics that were not included in previous call of duty campaigns. I personally believe the singleplayer campaign in Ghost is by far the best in the entire COD franchise up to date. The graphics and visuals has also been drastically improved when the game runs on max settings than previous COD games.

    THE BAD:
Unfortunately it seems like IW spend most of their budget into the SP component, while MP is still rather dull and similar to its predecessor. While the graphics in SP is great, it is rather inferior in MP when compared to its other competing games. The game is also extremely awfully optimized for PC as very few people are able to get a solid frame rate in multiplayer. SLI does not work properly with the game as the graphics are very glitchy and flickers a lot. The game had great potentials, but the MP component was a huge letdown.

The series is showing its age. COD is dated and just doesn't stack up well to other PC FPS games. It lacks the eye candy of BF, the teamplay and innovation of Natural Selection 2, the classic and balanced feel of Counter Strike:GO, the sheer fun of Hawken, and worst off all Blacklight retribution is for all purposes a better COD then Ghosts.

A step backwards in my opinion. I loved Mw2, Mw3, BO, and BO2. Great multiplayer and it felt so much fun! However, the mechanics in this game feel really wierd. I'm still beasting people in lobbies, but its just not fun really. The streaks are not that great. Almost every just gets satcom and dogs cause their easy to pick up. Also dogs are a little overpowered in terms of health.

That being said, my score for this game is based on the single player only, and I have to say that the campaign its not that bad at all. It has some nice scripted sequences with intense action and explosions as you would expect from a COD game but unfortunately the story is kind of predictable and it lacks memorable characters like soap or captain price. I don't think there was ever a Call of Duty game that had a bad campaign. Still I can understand some of the frustration around here regarding the fact that this game is basically the same every year, but the single player is still a good way to kill 5-6 hours but not enough to spend 60 dollars on this. Probably the worst CoD since CoD3 and Modern Warfare 3.

Also, this is IWnet fiasco all over again. Server crash, laggy hosts, half empty servers and the worst thing is that they removed the ping bars/numbers so you are completely clueless about the latency in this game.

The storyline was quite meh, not even close to MW and or even Black Ops series.
Now that i finished it, this will return to ''Not Installed'' games and i'll go back to Black Ops 2 MP.

And to think i was insanely hyped about this. What a disappointment.
Verdict: Do not waste your hard earned money in this trash. Avoid at all cost.

Maps are fun, and seem larger than average. I run constant fps, but still get stutters at the most inopportune time, which needs to be patched quickly. Mouse lag is fixable, just google the fix (its one line in your config, r_autopriority "0"). I give it a 6 because there's nothing new except different weapons and maps, with good graphics for beast rigs, but for your average gamer with a mid-range rig and not a lot of time to spare, might want to stick with CS:GO for your valuable FPS gaming time. It works OK on my laptop but i'm getting FPS drops as well. IW has sent out the random tweet telling people they're working on fixes.
I can't recommend anyone to buy this game, Call of Duty is on it's last legs, this cow has been milked to death and IW doesn't care about the pc community in general, otherwise they wouldn't release the game in this state

Although the space combat makes NO sense, although, it's in space, so that doesn't matter. FIIIIIIIIISH are there, they move about. Sharks eat you, beware, they don't move away. You're in a attack chopper once, which gives out lots of explosions and stuff. You're also a dog sometimes, but really not that much, doesn't matter. The ending is weird, confusing, wat. Hey, lets not forget, they should've EASILY seen him or even heard him.

Overall thoughts of singleplayer; Over average CoD style.

Lets not forget the other stuff as well. Extinction is quite fun and can be expanded a bit if they want to. Other than that it's more or less taken inspirations from almost everything. The challenges you get are solid and not exactly easy from what I've seen. The artstyle of the aliens is surprisingly good, unexpected by someone that has copied and pasted stuff for the last 6 years. Credit to IW for that, unless that's also copied, then credit to those who made it originally. The mode becomes chaotic on singleplayer and I assume it becomes a lot better co-op. At least, it's a new fresh thing and will hopefully not be cursed by the easter egg thing that has zombies up completely.

Now to multiplayer. You get your 5 soldiers off the start, they don't cost that much, then you could spend a lot of time on the others. The new unlock system is nice, it removes the need of being at a specific level (but still requires you to play to unlock stuff). The operations is also a nice twist to the regular challenges from the last 6 or so games. I would still wish that you could unlock attachments and weapons and other stuff by using the specific weapon, instead of being forced to use the squad points. The customization of soldiers is all a waste of time, because REMEMBER WHAT YOU ACTUALLY SEE WHEN PLAYING. Yes, you remembered it, only your arms, not even your legs. The only "major" difference is you can be a fake or a real Which would make a minor difference in shoutouts and stuff.

Now over to gameplay. Since this is PC we're talking about, we also have to talk about PC related issues. As everyone knows, their engine is pretty much based on the terrible IW5 engine. Should've been based on the lovely IW4 engine, which actually worked properly. And with the IW5 engine comes IW5 related issues, at least for me and probably a few others. Being picky on this kind of stuff so "bear" with me. The difference between 50FPS and 90FPS is close to none. 1% of the time you actually have a smooth running game, but the rest of it, it will just have laggy animations. No matter what FPS, resolution or other settings. Needs some quick and good optimization, BO2 didn't need any extra optimization when it launched. Mouse stutter/jumping/lag is still a major issue every 10 seconds or so. The netcode seems to be affecting the FPS a lot more than what it did, which is not good.

Away from PC related issues over to gameplay related issues. The maps are terrible, overly complex. You can get killed from any direction at any point in every map. There's no linear way of playing the maps. Feels also like every time I run/walk around, I either get killed from behind or the 2 other directions that I can't keep control over at the same time, or I run into some enemy 5 feet away from me, which results in whoever got the better ping or the most FPS or the least stutter lag, gets the kill. The sniper "multilayered" scope would actually be nice if it actually did a smooth transition every time, or that it didn't half my FPS every time I used it. They've realized that the crosshair on a sniper is useless, so they've removed it, which seems to have revoked my horrible skills at quickscoping, but if someone puts the crosshair back in some or other way, it's actually worse than before. The snipers are ridiculously powerful and accurate. All the guns seems balanced enough, or rather, overpowered enough, haven't seen anything ridiculously overpowered yet, other than the snipers. Also, when you kill someone or you get killed, you won't get the playercard popping up, which is annoying because i want to clearly see who i killed or who killed you. You have to wait for the killcam, which I always skip.

Tl;dr, good singleplayer game, not a good multiplayer game, really laggy, lots of reoccurring issues from MW3, a game that had big potential to compete with MW2.

All the controls and mechanics are there from previous versions of COD, but if you select any single mechanic I can list for you the COD game like that did it better and IW shows with Ghosts to have severely lost a step in the Multi-player experience (which, let's be honest, Treyarch has historically done better).

This all being said I'll leave you with a final question: Is COD: Ghosts a bad game? Well, no. Not exactly. Get the stability issues resolved and it will be fine, which sums it up on the whole. The more-enjoyable-than-average campaign gives it an extra point (if only for the AWESOME space sections), and the fact that I was able to get it for 30€ just two months after release make the one last point in my score. On the other hand, this 'different' failed to impress a fair number of people. Just like Black Ops II, many people were not satisfied with Ghosts, despite the impressive graphics and the improvements in the gameplay mechanic. But seriously..... 1.6? That's WAYYY too underrated. I'm sure there are ppl out there who've been hating the franchise (and Activision is to be blamed), but Ghosts deserves at least a 6.

When looking at these scores, its hard to imagine that Activision actually DARED to challenge Rockstar Games to break the GTA V sales record. Sure, Ghosts made a $1 billion in one day head start, but that was just retail, not even the actual consumer purchase. And when consumers come here to see THIS, I doubt their sales would reach 5 million in a week.

Unplayable mess, the game looks like sh*t and isn't optimised for PC: stuttering, low framerates, constant crashes, poor controls and all this from a company that's supposed to be at the top of their field and rakes in a billion dollars per title. I feel like I've been scammed and want a refund. This is the last one I buy.

Well executed single-player and a well executed multi-player. There are few games out there that offer these kinds of thrills and spills. Only reason its not a 9 is the lack of optimisation for the PC version and bugs which persist 10 days post release; that said the PC version is the best looking of all of the versions (of course). Suspect the negative reviews don't reflect reality for PCWell executed single-player and a well executed multi-player. There are few games out there that offer these kinds of thrills and spills. The graphics definitely became better than previous CoDs. Some missions are purely amazing (especially underwater one), but some of them are absolutely boring. Bottom line, single-player campaign is more interesting than in BF4 for sure.

For me my day is ruined for waiting for another COD game that is ruined and does not achieve it's greatest potential, and I am here to give my opinion because there was a large on the negative that I can only give you the positive things that claim my mind. The game itself was still a large disappointment of multiplayer and in the same core. But the positive things itself is that the game was full of creativity that it has Extinction, Squads and so many that the player can do, but itself is not finished. Unlike Battlefield they spent their time wisely other than making more and more and more. But gladly this game has a large creativity that can't also let the game a large down. A game must have a lot of choices that the player can do which was COD: Ghosts. But they really need to have more time rather than making more and more and more. The game was rather unfinished and unpolished, but it was a good experience to do and try more rather than just a ordinary shooting game. It almost change my mind into a mix score, but rather that, I have no choice but to give this a positive because too much choose a Negative. Expand

Single Player game is a good story. Excellent play through. Weapons aren't any better than previous titles with little imagination. Multiplayer maps are very well done. Everyone has stealth for the most part. More weapon add ons and perks makes this game have more bonuses for the player than previous titles. Makes game too easy.

It's exactly what fans of the franchise have grown to expect. No surprises here, folks. [Jan 2014, p.90]

Nothing to see here in terms of innovation: the campaign is dull, the multiplayer fun. But this time, the air of sameness is a little bit too much. [Issue#236]

An utterly horrible PC port mars an otherwise very, very average Call of Duty game. Nothing to see here.
