The game had a bad launch, but it was fixed pretty fast (for me atleast). I think that is the reason for the low user score. 2.7 out of 10 is absolutely too low. Game is alot of fun.

My first COD game. I have over 150 hours played now. Well worth the money.

This game is mirror picture of advanced warfare, there is nothing new, perhaps swimming :D
People don't play any other modes, than tdm, or free for all, so you get bored fast.
Also there is very big input lag and game is terrible optimized.
Save your money, don't give free money developers, which are spamming same **** over and over.

Another year, another crappy Call of Duty console port. It's pretty sad how far this game has strayed from it's origin on the PC platform. The lag compensation is always against me, seems impossible to kill anyone most of the time unless catching them off guard. I had major lag compensation problems since MW3 and it was never fixed, just little less noticable in BO2 and AW. All maps feel bland and very small (no use for LMG or sniper rifles). Graphics aren't that great, yet I had to disable or lower many settings to run game smooth.

Also don't like the fact all weapons are imitations/hybrids of real ones with stupid names. I guess Activision don't want to pay royalties to weapon manufacturers anymore.

I do not like multiplayer. I bought the game for the single player experience. I thought the graphics and game play were very good. It also had some interesting weapons. I do not think a game has to reinvent itself every time it comes out. This game is a solid FPS and if you like call of duty then you will enjoy this game.

Worst COD ever! where's the epic story? awful control, awful graphics, it feels like i'm playing ultimate spiderman! are you kidding me? this is not what we expected after COD Ghost and COD Advanced Warefare.... Seriously? why all developers intend to fail after huge success? to end this review i'd like to say that COD Black Ops 3 is like a bad marriage between counter strike and Borderlands

This is one of the worst call of duty ever. I don't understand how the critics rate it 8/10? The franchise is going backward, gone are the days when $1b sales were expected. Now the company probably doesn't even make $100m, thus sales figures are not public anymore. It's sad how the game is going down the drain.

As you can see from the user score, a lot of people don't seem to like this game. Mostly due to the bad PC port (which they have since fixed) and the graphics (they wanted to create a game that could run on 2gb cards so everyone could play). I'm here to tell you that the game isn't that bad. It's not a game I'd call "legendary" by any means, but it's not another Ride to Hell: RetributionAs you can see from the user score, a lot of people don't seem to like this game. I'm here to tell you that the game isn't that bad. It's not a game I'd call "legendary" by any means, but it's not another Ride to Hell: Retribution like everyone is calling it.

    -Graphics and port job-
I will admit, at release, this game ran like a slideshow on high end pc's. Now after NUMEROUS patches, the game runs flawlessly. I always ran above 60+ fps maxed out 1080p on a lower end pc (AMD FX-6300 and Radeon 7970). They clearly took the time to fix their mistakes and create a good running game now.

    -Story-
The story is... ok at best. It's another one of those "robots kill humans" and "terrorist" plots that you see every other game. It's not really worth the play if you want to play campaign. It's clear that the focus was on the other gamemodes and NOT the story.
One thing that I do like is the fact that it is multiplayer. If you want, you can go through the whole campaign with your friends. It'll get a few laughs out of you and your friends playing, even if it is cheesy.

    -Zombies-
One. Map. ONE. MAP. Seriously, GimmieMoneyArch? Yup. There's only one map. Unless you buy the $50 season pass to fuel their Lamborghinis as they swim in money, you only get one map. The season pass isn't even that good right now, it just comes with The Giant from World at War with some updated graphics. Lazy.
They did make a lot of changes to the gamemode though. It's a lot for someone who just touched zombies previously to have all of this information shoved in their face at once. It's quite a bit to absorb. Nonetheless, it's fun and got a few hours out of me, but it's nothing to throw $60 at for.

    -Nightmare mode-
This was a lazy attempt for people to play the campaign again, but with zombies thrown in. They don't even change the cutscenes! They just mute the audio from them and slap a narration bit up! It's so lazy to see that they did this. When the game said "zombie campaign", I expected a whole campaign about zombies taking over the world and complex character development (like The Walking Dead or other zombie stories), but I got WAY to ahead of myself. It's also boring and repetitive to just kill nothing but the same zombie over levels you already played.

    -Multiplayer-
This was where the game shines. The shining crown. I put over 200+ hours into this game after about a month of playing. It's a TON of fun and probably the only reason I bought this game.
There are now classes or "specialists" as the game calls them, that now diversify play a bit. Each specialist can choose 2 abilities to use that can give them either a weapon or a small advantage for a short period. The classes don't have any personality though. All of them are serious and not funny. Nothing like Team Fortress 2, where each class had a different fun personality. It would've been nice to give the characters some kind of personality besides "Nomad, KIA" and "Ruin, KIA". They had so much potential to put tons of funny character quotes or quips that would've made me remember the characters apart from what they occasionally do every 2 minutes.
As for balance of weapons, they need to fix them. Some of the weapons are straight up overpowered. The P-06, Sheiva, pretty much all smgs, Haymaker, and the Brecci, just to name a few.
There are only 12 maps (not including the Nuketown for pre-orders only). Most of them are good and have a lot of ramps and walls for jetpacks. Also, I noticed a lot less camping by allowing almost every part of the map to have 2 entrances to eliminate camping. Sure there were still campers, but rarely any.
Speaking of the jetpack, it's a really nice feature I'm glad they carried over from Advanced Warfare. I didn't play AW, but from what I've seen and heard from others, it was nice to have a lot more mobility so combat is a lot more diverse.

    -Final verdict-
I kept playing. I don't know why, but despite all of these flaws, I kept playing. I put over 200+ hours in alone and that for me is enough to justify a $60 purchase.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This will be a bit of a rant about the multiplayer component of BO3. It is not a review as such but is still all from experience, which I feel will you will encounter should you purchase this game. The multiplayer is probably the worst I have experienced. It's as if they blended Advanced Warfare and Destiny and tried to sell it as COD. The specialist classes are interesting at first, until you realize that everyone plays as the two most powerful ones. Kill-streaks require more kills to acquire and can be shot down almost instantly by rockets. Some specialist skins require kills with their specialty weapon; this wouldn't be so difficult if the multiplayer wasn't abysmally unbalanced. 5 minutes of play-testing would have made it obvious to the developers that the first-unlocked weapons should swap places with the higher-rank weapons. There are about 5-7 of the most powerful weapons that are used by everyone. The addition of wall-running removes the sense of map control entirely, you get shot from every side except the front by some grasshopper with an SMG. Maps are so similar to BO2 I confuse the layout. I question the mental capability of those who defend this game. Do not purchase. Expand

I don't know why people hate this game so much. It is another Call Of Duty tittle so not much has changed but it is still way better that Advanced Warfare and it can't be compared to the absolute disater Ghosts. The game offers a lot of content, from guns to perks to specialists. I would give it a third spot in the franchise ,right after Black Ops 2 and COD 4: MW.

Let me start by saying that the game deserves a solid 5/10 considering the server issues. But assuming they're fixed...

    Multiplayer:

Gunplay: It's yet more of Advanced Warfare except now horribly mutilated. The maps are small and full of obstacles deliberately placed to promote close range SMG shootouts over long range shots. Moreover, maps went from 3D to 3Lane, introducing lots of obstructions, headglitch spots and long corridors lined by invisible walls. Adding to that, all the weapons have been made a lot more precise and most SMGs are quite effective at 50 metres, rendering proper sniping moot. The FMJ attachment is supposed to improve penetration but any given obstacle being penetratable at all is wildly inconsistent. The movement mechanics, again, are, in a sense, more limited than in AW but with the shrunken maps they are more than enough.

Scorestreaks: Instead of customizable scorestreaks from AW (a great improvement) there are now lots of one-trick vehicles which can be easily shot down with a few launcher missiles. No more map-specific scorestreaks either. Overall this feels like a great step back.

Special abilities: Specialist abilities are just different from Exo-abilities. You no longer start with a full charge each life but rather charge it over time and score. On the other hand, specialist weapons tend to be a lot more destructive than anything else and some abilities are great for clutch plays.

Overall: I would say that Black Ops 3 feels very forced. The borderline synthetic map design and weapon equalization waste the potential gained from what was fixed. And the whole "More like the classics" design idea doesn't work well with the futuristic wall running and explosive bows.

Single Player: The campaign is not good. There are lots of fan theories explaining it all and creating a sensible timeline and plot but actually playing the campaign is not enjoyable. It's a disjointed experience devoid of really great moments or a global plot arc. More than anything, it's full of frustratingly stupid decisions made by every character without any player agency (since it's not an RPG, obviously).

Zombies: Instead of a typical horde mode Zombies becomes an obscure adventure-like experience where you have to collect artifacts, perform rituals and do all sorts of songs and dances that have nothing to do with actual shooting. The biggest indicator of this is the "have one player kite the last zombie around while the other three are doing the item collection/beast transformation/easter egg completion" tradition. Is it fun? Maybe. Is it in line with the rest of the game? Not so much.

And last but not the least, PC-specific issues: At the moment of writing several weapons are downright imbalanced, like Drakon, the semi-auto sniper rifle that is a 2-hit kill at any range, has very little recoil and can be shot repeatedly for quite some time due to a 28-round magazine. The server quality, at least in EU (and, I think, Australia too) is downright unacceptable with random disconnects and horrible lag and rubberbanding issues a lot of the time. Many bugs and absent features too, like mouse inversion when aiming scorestreaks by tablet, lack of separate control for ADS mouse sensitivity and the like. The matchmaking is somewhat questionable, mixing good players with all sorts of other players.

Although Treyarch/Activision might get a solid B for effort, the post-release support and communication are almost absent. If it stays this way, the game might not hold its own on PC for very long.

I'm not going to lie, this game is not worth the hype. Every COD I pick up I do well in, and have a good time. And each time my experience is a little bit different, THAT'S why I like it. They introduce little things here and there that make the game fun. COD4 had some of the best hit detection, guns, mechanics and sounds/gun feel for its time and holds true today. The modern Warfare series all had a special feel to them, 2 and 3 really had something working for them and I can't quite lay a finger on it. Black ops 1, people didnt seem to like but I enjoyed it. This is when I went from an average player to exceptional player, always top of the leaderboard. Black ops 2 comes around and knocks it out of the park, despite a crappy beginning release. Now I don't know if I can say I have high hopes for BO3, because the launch issues BO2 had were pretty minor in game mechanics, like spawns and whatnot. BO3 has good spawns, I won't lie. At least I havent been dogged by em too hard. But the issues at launch for BO3 are so scattererd I can't even really offer advice. Playing this series so long, BO3 felt like the down syndrome brother to BO2. Improved graphics, wall running and insanely obnoxious specialists all sum up a pretty bad game. ("did we mention we added water play??") I always played the COD series for the multiplayer experience. Each game offered me something I enjoyed. Even Ghosts, the most hated game of all. At least ghosts had immaculate hit detection and unique, fun to use guns. Shots fired. BO3 is so uncharismatic it HURTS. The guns are lame, the gun sounds are lame (exception: snipers) and gun feel is lame. When you pick up a gun, it should feel unique. In bo3, there are maybe 3 guns that really feel different. And that's just minute. This feels like a copy pasted edition of the series, and really was disgusting. I played the beta, had a bad time. Picked up the game for whatever reason, hated it every day. I played BO3 hard, I mean really hard. Because I wanted to see if it was just me. It is a harder game, sure. But my learning curve time is quick, every game until now I have bested in the first week. Its been nearly a month, and I still hate it. TTK is egregious, the guns are egregious, the new abilities are egregious, and this game is egregious. I have never felt more taken advantage of from a developer, as this game was so highly hyped. Why? no idea. I was SO skeptical when AW came out, because of all the changes made. But it turns out AW is my favourite COD now, I have more hours in that game than all the others. Not combined, but definitely a lot. And that game is only a year old. After AW I was excited for a slower, more conventional cod. they messed it up. Its not slower, in that you can play it casually. If you want to do even decently, you have to lean forward and tough it out. Its unbalanced in the guns, if its a big map I'm screwed. if its a small map Im screwed. You need to make like 50 classes just to cope with the unbalanced guns. The guns that are good for long range, die at close. The guns that are good for close, die at range. Thats normal for the series, yeah. But its NOT normal how badly the gap counters your efforts. Usually when there is an OP gun in a COD its actually a sign of balancing. Believe it or not, it means that a select few guns are consistent. BO3 is nothing but inconsistent guns. I never noticed a SINGLE trend. No one using one gun, no one sticking to one gun. Its all over, and no one is consistent. The fact that my K/D is over 1 right now baffles me. I feel like this game punishes you with its lack of care, and the Vonderhaar and his buddies felt like this was just another one for the bank. Sure, its playable, sure, it's manageable. But its not enjoyable at all. Really, it isn't. I have never played a game for a month straight and said to myself, "Why are you still playing this trash?" Even ghosts I was having a blast. I feel like BO3 is just a poorly edited conglomeration of a million COD's worst qualities mashed into one. It's painful. I would rate this game a 2. Worst COD I have ever played. Expand
