    This is the only game I ever saw where you play multiple characters at once. It's a unique experience with an amazing story and good graphics. Only thing I asked myself is why there is no support for local multiplayer...

You solve -not too hard but intuitive - puzzles in a beautiful designed linear world and are quite restricted in where you can go.

    I actually found controlling both annoying. Maybe it would have clicked some time, but after 3 hours I finished the game, so there never was enough time for that.

    That all said, the last part of the game was brilliant. At a key moment in the story it became intense and I had moments which made me think back at all that happened in the last 3 hours and how clear everything felt. Not only storywise it was a WOW moment but also gameplay related.

    Good art style, but is not that good graphics for 2013. But this game bright on criativity, the "2 player" (but you play alone, and that is sad for the game) mechanics are good, simple puzzles, but works. Good and emotional history, the interactivity with the scenery is cool, the two caracthers are different and does different things,
    according to their personalities.

    Wow. This game blew me away. It is short but extremely well done. Story - excellent Gameplay - excellent Graphics - excellent One of the few games that made me cry :-( P.S.     A very short but beautifully told story about two brothers on a quest to save their dad. The controls of this game aren't anything phenomenal but it's how it all ties together that make it a one of a kind experience that's definetely worth your time.

    It is a fabulous co-op game with a beautiful storyline and gameplay. The game is about 3 hrs short and I played it alone but if you have a sibling, I would definitely recommend playing it with them. The story revolves around 2 brothers on a journey to find the cure for their sick father. The game has some beautiful moments and the music shines throughout the game. Original gameplay, good storytelling with intense / beautiful moments , great level design, given you like the genre and didn't pay full price for it (3 € for me). Graphics are quite good still in 2020 (auto HDR on XSX may help). Why isn't it a 9-10 ? Well, the story lack a bit of thickness from my point of view, which is due to it being very short (3-4A gem like others said before me.     Great "coop" game, where you can play with yourself only. It was really interesting idea and mechanics and I would recommend it to anyone willing to try something new. The game is also short enough to not get boring.

    The most beautiful game I've ever played--not just visually, but also in terms of the tale it tells and how the game tells it. One of the absolute best examples of mechanic- as-narrative that I've ever seen, making this a story which can *only* be told by a video game. Simply a work of art.

    A story of two brothers on an adventure. The main mechanic in this game is you play both brothers with one controlled by each thumbstick and each trigger. It makes for some good light puzzling.

    There is no dialog but the world and actions of the brothers speak for themselves. The environments are gorgeous. It is definitely worth the 2-3 hours it takes to complete.

    Трудно передать свои эмоции от этого шедевра, не прибегая к спойлерам. Важно сказать главное: Brothers держится на двух огромных китах - на уникальном геймплее и на мощном сюжете, который вместе с эмоциональным саундтреком штатного композитора студии Густава Грефберга делает эту историю невероятной и запоминающейся. Завершенная история с потрясающим финалом - это то, чего так зачастую не хватает многим хорошим играм для того, чтобы быть идеальными.
    Игроку предстоит управлять двумя братьями одновременно, каждая рука отвечает за определенного брата. Первые 10-15 минут такой опыт кажется весьма непростым и непривычным, но затем ты начинаешь осваиваться и понимать, как работает эта уникальная система управления. Это трудно описать, так как подобные вещи нужно именно что ощущать, поэтому я призываю каждого попробовать сыграть в эту игру, хронометраж которой к тому же не превысит 4 часов даже для тех, кто никогда в принципе не играл в компьютерные игры. Каждая из ваших двух рук (если они у вас имеются) привыкнут к каждому из персонажей, и вы поймёте, насколько оба ваших персонажа связаны между собой. Они по сути не имеют возможности существовать друг без друга, и в этом, как и во многих других элементах этой игры, есть определенный философский смысл, который будет возникать в вашей голове, так как осознавать его вы будете ещё и физически, а не только метафорически.
    Это тот редкий случай (напоминающий мне прежде всего игры обожаемого Дженовы Чена, особенно Journey и Flower), когда геймплейная эмпирика, полученная игроком, в сочетании с потрясающим сторителлингом создают незабываемые эмоции, которые сравнимы даже с эмоциями от самых ярких приключенческих книг или фильмов. Из таких маленьких и простых деталей, как потрясающий и оригинальный (действительно оригинальный) и сюжет получаются настоящие маленькие, но вечные шедевры.    … Expand

    If you don't like 'Brothers', then you simply don't like video games at all. Well, okay, maybe that's not entirely true and I may be a bit melodramatic when saying that, but I really can't figure out a reason why someone would dislike this game, other than the fact that it's pretty short.     I only started the game and will update my review later but besides a touching beginning cutscene there is nothing that is too impressive. The environment is picturesque but the two characters mannerisms are not that likable. The gameplay has some Prince of Persia in it and some elements of puzzle games where you help the other computer player to solve obstacles.     I was delightfully wrong. I must admit there is a lot of variety in the puzzles but they seemed more like a chore and work than fun. Thus, I did not finish the game but rather just watch a youtube video of someone else finishing the game. If this was a short film, I would think it would be a 9/10 and that is where it really shines in the graphics style and the storytelling. The game itself is a 7. Some puzzles are cool while others are tedious work. Overall 8.5, but I'll round it up to 9.    … Expand

    The simple yet impactful story was, again, told expertly, being surprised with how much I was told by visuals, mechanics and controls as opposed to dialogue. The fact that the purposeful gibberish language the characters speak was generally understandable is a true testament to how tailored and emotionally organised the experience is. The cherry of beautiful art and music direction just brings the cake all together. It would have been nice if the puzzles were just slightly more complex, however I understand why they are simplistic so it is half a problem and barely retracts from the experience. All elements of Brothers work in unison to provide a memorable and impactful experience.    … Expand

    In short, amazing game. It has real emotions, beautiful graphics, smart puzzles and a sense of adventure. Only problem I had is that if playing on PC you sometimes need to break your fingers playing both brothers alone :). This is made as a co-op game and you should really find someone and play together. I know, duh :).

    The gameplay is not that bad: You control both brothers with your keyboard or better with your controller and use a trigger key. So sometimes it gets complicated to control them in different directions and use the trigger key. The riddles are not that difficult, but the controlling of 2 persons in the same time. Nice idea also.

    - Historia: (No creo que sean spoilers, pero aviso por si acaso) La película de Pixar W.A.L.L.E. consiguió conmover a mucha gente sin necesidad de diálogos. Pues este juego también lo hizo. No hay necesidad de largos y tediosos diálogos para entender el valor que nos surge cuando se trata de salvar a nuestros seres queridos; tampoco se necesitarán diálogos para entender como un personaje siente culpabilidad de la muerte de un ser cercano a él y como eso le persigue durante la aventura; tampoco para ver lo entrañables que son los personajes que conoceremos durante el juego; tampoco para sentir empatía por la la fauna que nos encontraremos nuestro paso...Para esto y muchas otras cosas no se necesitará entender el idioma inventado en el que hablan.

    - Gráficos: Sublime. Preciosos los escenarios, los paisajes, el diseño de los animales... Se nota el poderoso motor gráfico Unreal Engine 3 que, a pesar de tener ya cinco años (creo), sigue sin quedarse desfasado. Posiblemente los modelados de los personajes podían estar mejor, pero vamos, tampoco lo he echado especialmente de menos.

    - Banda Sonora: Simplemente con escuchar unos minutos del tema del menú principal ya tendréis una ligera idea de como irá la cosa. MUY BUEN NIVEL.

    Yo no sé como estará el The Last Guardian. Pero, por lo que he visto (Youtube) y oído, este A Tale Of Two Sons es sin duda nuestro particular The Last Guardian para PC. Salvo que creo que este es incluso mejor. Aquí el sentido de cooperación y solidaridad es igual significativo, solo que además, el control simultáneo de dos personajes hace que la jugabilidad sea mucho más dinámica, ahorrándote los problemas que tiene el otro de estar intentando llamar al bicho durante media hora (o esa es la sensación que me da).

    En definitiva, un juego muy especial que se merece muchísimo más reconocomiento que el que tiene. Pero bueno, que se le va a hacer, por ello es un juego indie, ya quisieran los desarrolladores haber tenido más presupuesto para una mejor campaña de marketing. I won't spoil, I'll just never commend enough the imagination of the authors. I loved the made up language, and all the little things to do and explore. I wasn't moved by the drama, but my only gripe is possibly an unusual one : I wished I had more control on the camera.     2 – GAMEPLAY

    Most of the narrative driven games do not have a proper gameplay to go along, but Brothers is built upon some interesting mechanics. This game is actually a single player co-op! To words for that GE-NIOUS!

    We control both brothers at the same time with the dual analog sticks of the controller. At the beginning it feels a bit strange and we fail most of the moves. The game is very short so we never get the full hang of that, but soon enough we are perfectly able to do it almost without mistakes.

    The puzzles are quite simple and not very challenging. TBH the main challenge of the game is controlling the brothers, and not to cry here and there...

    It's also fun to interact with NPCs and find out the different reactions from each brother.

    Despite all this the game is very short and has no replay value whatsoever.

    3 – CONCLUSION

    So pointing that, is it worth buying? For sure! More than a game it's a very powerful experience, and I clearly suggest anyone to try this one out!    … Expand

    I'm convinced that this game should be played by everyone. You'll experience a great story with such a sad ending, awesome soundtrack/art, and, of course, gameplay which is pretty interesting: you will take control of two brothers. I played the game a year ago, but still remember those feelings. Just try it out.

    Gorgeous looking indie game with a rich story and intriguing puzzle/adventure gameplay. On the shorter side (3-4hrs), but definitely worth the $3 I paid during a Steam summer sale. Not your typical adventure/platform game, but very rewarding for those willing to give it a try. I played through by myself, but I imagine it would be a blast with a 2nd player (a brother even)!

    A game working with just an analog stick and only one use button (OK, two sticks, two buttons). The controls are uncommon but that's nice. Although there are no dialogues, no quests and no inventory, the game is definitely a must-play because of it's very emotional and fine made story.

    I'm a little disappointed in the simple level design. It feels like there was so much more potential for complex puzzles and platforming sequences using the two brothers to their fullest, but instead everything's pretty simple and obvious. You won't die much, no matter how much you suck at the controls.

    Speaking of, some might disagree, but I'd say a controller is 100% required to enjoy this one right.

    And for those who beat it, that's probably the most emotional I've ever felt over pressing the left shoulder button to progress.    … Expand

    This game more than deserves the amount of praise that it has been given and I hope to see more video games that utilize this control concept.     This game is unique thanks to its absence of dialogues, you can only guess what the characters are trying to say from their nonverbal communication. It doesn't hurt the story though, instead of listening to cliche phrases you can imagine your own conversations.
    The Two brothers complement each other in order to overcome obstacles and puzzles. The puzzles are not particularly challenging,    This game is unique thanks to its absence of dialogues, you can only guess what the characters are trying to say from their nonverbal communication. It doesn't hurt the story though, instead of listening to cliche phrases you can imagine your own conversations.
    The Two brothers complement each other in order to overcome obstacles and puzzles. The puzzles are not particularly challenging, but that keeps the story flowing and frustration at bay. Instead of trying hard and being mad at the game, you can admire the beautiful environment, scenery and music. Also this game convinced me to buy a gamepad. You can play it with keyboard too, but the controls are much more intuitive and immersive with a gamepad.
    Game is fairly short but i think the length is just right to keep the story intense. Also the game mechanics are not complex enough to keep you interested for longer period.
    Although the game seems peaceful, you will get your share of adrenaline and fighting.
    In my opinion the main strength of the game is it's streamlined and polished feel, that lets you fully embrace the emotions this game stirs up.
    All of the above makes a very immersive game that now holds a special place in my heart.    … Expand

    Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a small Adventure game based on two brothers, who after losing their mother, must go on a quest to retrieve something to help their sick father. A usually simple premise.

    However, the gameplay is unique in that it's co-op... with yourself. You control both brothers; with a controller, the analogue sticks and triggers are dedicated to each brother, while if playing via keyboard, the WASD keys control one and the arrow keys control the other. There is very much a sense of trying to pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time, using these controls. At first, while travelling the world is relatively easy, you may struggle but soon you get used to it.

    The world itself is beautiful to wander around. It looks like an oil painting come to life, with many inhabitants and objects available to interact with in both humerus and very moving ways. They breathe a certain kind of life in this game that only few games actually achieve. The landscapes become more and more epic as you progress. One certain area (and how you manoeuvre this area) left my mouth agape for it's entirety. You'll know which one this is.

    Although it starts out almost child-like, the themes become very dark, quite quickly. You'll stumble across some helpless individuals, which require assistance. The story-telling of these, even though the dialogue is not a known language, can be an emotional experience.

    And emotions run very high in this game. I completed this in one 3 hour setting (recommended), and 3 days later, it is still sitting with me. Towards the end, you might even find it hard to continue due to it's emotionally draining circumstances.

    Wow. What an amazing experience. The premise that you control each brothers with a thumbstick is genius. It makes your connection to them (through gameplay) even larger. The story itself isn't really something we haven't seen before, but the presentation of the story is so engrossing with it's minimalistic approach. Quite frankly, a very unique and spectacular game.     A journey that captures the heart and soul. It's difficult to put it into words but everything about this is just wonderful. The simplicity in everything is overwhelming and combining it with the graphics and story-- it's just magical. To some extent, this reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus--- maybe its because it tells so much without a single understandable word. As a fan of tragedy,A journey that captures the heart and soul.     As a kind of interactive storybook, this game is a great success. Even though there is no dialogue (the characters speak in gibberish) there is a lot of drama in the story. The scenery is extremely well done, and there are a lot of extra touches to give the brothers personality.

    As a game there are hits and misses. The dual-character-control idea is quite clever, and there are some cool things that you can do with this scheme. The potential of this concept is not fully realized, some of the same kinds of puzzles appear multiple times. There are a lot of puzzles, but most only take a minute or so of contemplation to see the answer. This is good for keeping the story moving, but it made the game somewhat easy and short.

    If you are into a game that is a kind of work of art, and is cleverly designed, this is the game for you. If you are looking for a hard-core challenge, this game may disappoint you.    … Expand

    This game is superb for what it is designed to be - an interactive adventure story. It is not too challenging, and not very long, but it is a beautiful piece of art and has a very unique feel. Very pleased with the experience overall.

    A Tale of Two Sons is a video game as art and music. The puzzles are easy and short, and the game starts out feeling like something intended for children, but the story gets some adult themes half way through.

    Very short (as expected) even if playing very slowly. It is a deep adventure full of feelings, it is a poem. I am not really familiar with the nordic culture, but it is a wonderful adventure worth to be played more than one time (achievements are also not easy to find, and no description will be given). Stunning scenery, wonderful graphics, and it looks amazing in 3D if you like 3D. 90/100

    I just beat this game a couple of hours ago and man was it good! I see a lot of reviews that this game was too short but I thought it was just right. the story was excellent!! I feel like this game will resonate with me for a good while. excellent game!! 12/10

    This is a truly Powerful Adventure Story Driven Game. It is a Masterpiece it deeply affected me Art Style is Gorgeous, The Narrative is Powerful, and the Gameplay is Unique. If you haven't played this your doing yourself an INJUSTICE I hope they make sequel to continue the Story I want more of this and I wish we had more games like this.

Also the puzzles kept varying constantly, so it never got repetitive. However, the best part about the game is the story. It starts with a very simple plot: save sick dad by traveling to some distant place to get a cure. Perfect little plot for a little game, I figured. For a long time it didn't seem to be any more than that, but the game has a big trick up it's sleeve and it's innocent appearance is part of it.… Expand

    Everything about this game is made to perfection, or at least close to perfection.
    The sounds are great, the aesthetics are great, the use of the control is amazing.
    The characters represent emotion perfectly.

    have to say though, the gameplay is potentially boring.

    Brothers, unlike many recent indie hits, is very down to earth. It is not rife with intellectual puzzles like Braid, it is not as open to interpretations as Journey. It just makes you think about simple human values.
