Oh my... what a nice rpg! I've played BL1 and I found it so cool. BL2 tho... The classes are all useful, graphics are beautiful, no less and the storyline exceptional. You should however play this game with at least one friend and have a pretty good computer to have the best graphics possible.

Borderlands 2 is hours of fun. Some minor details have been improved from the first installment to make playing smoother and more enjoyable. I've almost finished my second play through and enjoyed it equally both times. The story is entertaining and the side missions never fail to amuse me. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is into this style of games.

While I don't think this was as good as BL1, I still think this is a very solid game overall. The overall vault hunters, excluding the Mechromancer and the Psycho, aren't as strong as the ones before them in BL1. What made BL1 great is present in this game, but its largely much of the same as it was before, except it took more time for this game to build steam. The game felt very meh up until somewhere past half way through. Past that point, the game got REALLY good, and I couldn't put it down until the ending. Again, very solid game, but don't let the hype get to you, or you WILL be disappointed. Expand

My biggest issue with the first game was the multiplayer connection. Games were often impossible to get into. I have no problem stepping into a co-op game in Borderlands 2. That's a big plus. The game is a bit repetitive, but fun looking for that next weapon. The DLC keeps it fresh and the many in-game items you can get from other games helps you stand out.

Just getting into the Borderlands genre I have to say it can be a VERY fun game. But it is good to play this game in chunks. After four hours the game can get really boring. Also having soooooo much to do it's easy to get side track. I also wish the level up system was faster. But all in all I say it's a 7.5.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All in all it is a very good game, but if you are a fan of the first Borderlands and played it through and through you will find some unsettling differences,. in BL2 they put a lot of focus on the story and to tell you the truth it was kind of corny and the weapon system is inferior to bl1 because it lacks the weapon proficiency upgrading and the random attributes system always leaves one or more thing that lacks to make those perfect weapons you could find in bl1. the gameplay is a little more changeling in that I noticed you die a lot more in bl2 than bl1. But I will say the did a good job making this game because it is addictive and you do find yourself compelled to keep playing and keep improving your characters. I love the borderlands franchise and I hope there is more to come. Expand

Who doesn't find Tiny Tina adorable as she has you find her main squeeeeeze's badonkadonks, so she can help you burn all the babies on the train??? (Not literally although you never see who 'was' in the train)

Beyond that the weapon porn you came to expect in B1 shines and then some in B2. I've only delved into one DLC so far and reportedly it's the best (by others, I can only judge what I've played). Tiny Tina as a Dungeon Master in Sanctuary is almost as good as her wanting to 'shank a b***h'.. :)

I'd give it a 10 if they replaced Gaige with TT, or at least added her with a DLC..

Now that I have more free time I thought it would be a great time to get back into video games. After playing some amazing indie games, I read some amazing reviews on Borderlands and decided to try it out. First of all the art direction and character design is fantastic. The cell shading is possibly the best I've ever seen in a video game other than Jet Set Radio. Everything isn't cell shaded, yet there is a good balance of black outline. Sometimes I'll be walking through a vista and be struck by the beauty (only then be interrupted by an annoying character's voice).

The story and personality they try to push isn't so much immersive as it is trying to be comedic, video gamey, and "extreme". The story is barely held together. Even though there are four different characters to choose from your character has no effect on the story. It's like the story is happening around you instead of involving you. Your character has no character. All of the others characters are obnoxious! I can accpet the bad guy being an egotistical villain, but everyone I met deserved a grenade lobbed at their face. Claptrap is one of the most horribly talkative characters I've encountered in a video game. Sometimes the character dialogue can be humorous and witty yet they overdo it. Throughout the game characters will talk to you via radio. It's so annoying! I went to settings and lowered the voice chatter down to a two. It feels like the writer was too self indulgent with the script. THERE'S NO FILTER.

I was intrigued by the gameplay at first. After playing it for 10+ hours it just feels like a combination of games cut up and sewn back together. Most notably: Halo, Zelda, Timesplitters, Serious Sam, and Banjo Kazooie. Borderlands borrows heavily from others yet it doesn't excel in any single area. In the end Borderlands 2 doesn't feel very original or fresh. It actually feels like a game that was made in 2000. The idea that there's millions of guns to collect is at first fun. That's until you realize that most of the guns are crap. Testing out guns and trying to decide which ones are good is very tedious. I loved the inventory in Baldur's Gate and Diablo, but Borderlands 2 inventory needs an overhaul. Just swapping guns for use is difficult, plus it breaks up the action. Additionally there are certain guns that do better against certain enemies so you'll have to constantly change which gun you're using. You can only use two guns at a time and carry about 8 guns in your backpack. Broken!

Missions are horribly repetitive. There are a lot of side quests except all of the missions are just disguised versions of "turn on the switch" and return a lost item. There's no escort mission, racing mission, time sensitive mission, or anything else interesting. You kill, turn on switch, return. It's so boring.

The combat is very repetitive. The easier bad guys aren't that fun to fight because somehow they have godlike aim, move fast, and have the health of an ox. When you finally level up and learn how to effectively kill them the designer thought that it'd be great idea to respawn all the characters when you return to an area. I don't really mind this in games like Zelda. Borderlands 2 on the other hand respawns entire hordes of enemies you just killed. Instead of respawning perhaps 2 characters per area, they respawn about 5-12 enemies whom you cannot avoid or run away from. I think the designers did this because they realized they built too large of an empty world. Therefore they have to populate it with something. This doesn't really work. The world feels big, empty, and monotonous. The world is so hard to navigate through while trying to remember what boring objective you're trying to fulfill. There are little to no visual landmarks. And if there are some, they've decided to put it everywhere. Yeah they've added a mini map, but it's close to useless when point A looks exactly like point B.

There's a great game buried in here somewhere. Some of the guns can be fun and the gunplay can be satisfying. Nonetheless, simple things are broken. Like why do I have to constantly press a button to pick up ammo and cash from a box that I just opened. There are thousands of boxes that I have to open and yet I have to press more buttons to pick up each individual piece of ammo and cash in a box. Just pick it up automatically. There are many more problems just like this. Instead of intelligently designing solutions into the game, the game designers decided to focus on adding more the low burning fire. Quantity over quality.

Graphically its a step up. It is definitely a lot brighter and varied than the Pandora we first knew. To be honest I preferred my old, dusty, wild-west meets mad-max Pandora, but hey that's not for everyone I guess and 'more variety' was needed.
Gameplay wise, it's taken a step back. I know it was developed with the co-op mode being the main focus, but you sometimes get the feeling that certain areas in single player are completely unbalanced, needing the whole team to be there to tackle it without 50 respawns and running out of ammo constantly. Some boss battles were ridiculously hard, where others were 'blink and you'll miss it'.
I didn't have any problems with the interface and to be honest, I'm not entirely sure why so many do.
They also tried to add extra longevity sans DLC with the huge number of challenges. Kinda works, although some of them particularly the Vault Symbols hunts are incredibly frustrating.
On the whole, I did really enjoy the game and still play it. I give it an 8, as even though it isn't as good as the first game, I still think it's more enjoyable than the current 'Call of Honor: Black Ops Battlefield' games.

This game sounds nice to start of with, lvling and loot combined with a first person shooter.
There are however some major mistakes in this game which make me give this game a 4/10.

First of all there is the engine, im not talking about the graphics and the style of it im talking about the numerous bugs in the engine almost a year after release.
Constantly getting stuck behind small ledges of 1cm or 1 inch high and also mobs sticking through objects.
Lets not forget loot being stuck under mobs.

Then there is the game balance which is far from balanced, if you cant even balance out a single player game like this you have some serious problems with your development team.

The time i played this game i played this game as zero and with this you have 3 tree's you can spec into.
I mostly tried the sniping and the melee tree's and those 2 are just so unbalanced compared to eachother.
With the sniping tree you can easily one shot any same lvl normal mob from a save distance and kill the difficult ones with a few more before they get near you.
If you have some luck the mobs bug and you basicly shoot them while they dont shoot back.

Then there is the melee tree which is like it says based around melee, however after you one shot a normal mob you get one shot yourself by the elite mob because you cant get somewhere save.
Simply because you dont have any survivability after you destealth.

When a game as simple as this already shows those kind of major flaws in game design and character balancing it doesnt deserve a high score.

Right now its 40 euro's on steam which is if you ask me overpriced, if the game is like 20 or less you could buy it and see for yourself im right.

You will however be lured into buying the dlc which are basicly just content patches trying to milk out the franchise without giving any service after you buy it.

The characters have quite a bit of story and with the including of the old 4 vault hunters was something that really made me squeal a bit. The main villain is very hated, and actually gives me a hard and strong reason to hate him, ESPECIALLY near the end (which I won't spoil). The main villain also is given TONS of back story and really drives the plot forward so by the end you'll want to mash his face in so hard and rip the grin off his face. He also likes to point out that he is the good guy and sometimes makes me think about if I'm actually the good guy. Although if you haven't played the first one you won't get the full experience.

    GUNS:
They control very much like the last game, with more special guns and with a bit more comfort to them. Although I feel like they could have added more balanced guns and made them better and better more often, as I'm getting bad guns who either couldn't hit Moxxi's vagina from 2 feet or couldn't strike through a pair of jeans. They did however make gun companies more distinct with the throwing exploding guns or the stabilizers. They did also add much more guns but at the cost of having to constantly check guns and compare them to yours, bringing me to the next topic.

    USER INTERFACE:
My god did they screw up on this. The fact that i have trouble scrolling down to view a gun I just picked up so I can compare just enrages me. You have no idea how many times you will have to have to exit the UI then try to do it again, only fail. It looks charming and all but the inventory tab just ruins the entire experience. The other tabs work fine though but you'll spend most of your time in the inventory so they really messed up.

    CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION:
I really think they improved on this. The addition of more character colors and the jumping onto the glorious golden bandwagon of hats in gaming really made me happy. They added tons of skins so that you will be actually having quite a bit of decisions and the fact that they drop now adds a bit of excitement when a skin drops. The hats also add quite a bit of flavor to the game, so that every character is different, they also added a hat for the people who played the first game, which was a nice touch. There are also quite a bit of vehicle skins, which brings me to the vehicles.

    VEHICLES:
They control horribly and they should have been improved upon. The addition of Bandit Technicals doesn't make up for this flaw and I wished they would've improved the vehicles.

    CHARACTERS:
They are actually very good, with the better voice acting and more humor. Their backstory is still a bit shallow but other then that they were very well made.

    REPLAYABILITY:
Despite what other people say I'm actually quite neutral on this topic. Once you played all 4 characters the game loses most of it's story and it gets quite repetitive. Although the badass tokens manage to encourage me to play it a lot more then without it.

    OVERALL:
The game is very good and I recommend it, even though it's very similar to the first it managed to reel me in to playing it for a good 80 hours. Although it missed a lot of potential and the fact the UI sucked balls made me give it an 8/10. I think if you didn't hate nor like the last one you should give this a try, you might end up really liking it like me!

In stark contrast to the first Borderlands, the story is actually compelling and the superb voice acting makes it hard not to be drawn in. The humor plays a big part as well and never feels out of place in the abstract Borderlands universe.
The graphics look great on both high AND mid range systems, offering highly stylized graphics that still have a touch of realism.
In closing I must commend Gearbox Software for their love-letter to the PC community. Literally every gripe I had with the shoddy console-port that was BL1 is gone. This game truly deserved Game of the Year.

UI is very poorly designed. Simply things such as inventory control is archaic and frustrating. Character movement such as crouching is hard to control. The environment, even though creative, is very repetitive and becomes boring soon. There is a good selection of guns, but most of them are similarly ineffective and it is hard to judge the power of the weapon just by quickly looking at it, you have to read all the stats that are presented in a confusing way.
As many report, the game is funny. But again, this becomes annoying soon. You are in the middle of a battle nearly death while your friendly AI, instead of helping, tells you jokes all the time.

The characters in BL2 are hilarious, the main villain is such an outrageous, self-centered jerk that you'll be dying to slay him by midway through the game. I wont even get into some of the phrases the various bad guys yell at you, but whoever did the writing here has a great sense of humor.

The guns look great, and they have such varied combinations of stat bonuses and drawbacks that you'll really have to do some experimenting with them to see which ones work best for you, (it may not be immediately apparent in most cases). This is the case with grenade mods, shields, and other equipment too; you'll really have to look at the stats and experiment a bit in different scenarios, there isn't always an obvious "best" choice. The equipment "drop rates" seem about right to me; while leveling up I would find something amazing about every 7 levels, which would really give my character a significant boost in power for the next few levels.

In addition to the weapons and armor, the skill trees in BL2 give it a real rpg feel. Each class has 3 specialization trees, as you level you'll get skill points to assign and build your character's spec. There are also dozens upon dozens of outfit skins and character faces, (some are very rare), so you can alter your character's appearance in many different ways. There's vehicle combat in BL2, and you can even change the way your vehicle looks and it's weapons.

The combat and controls are great, on the PC this doesn't feel like a console port to me at all. The battles in this game are huge, and hard. You're going to have to learn how to make use of cover, retreat, and effectively use your arsenal of various guns and grenades. The enemies come with various strengths and weaknesses, so figuring out which tactic works best against which provides a lot of depth and strategy for a shooter game.

I love the Borderlands look and art work, and the game runs great on my computer. The only reason I'm not giving this game a 10 is because some parts of it, especially on the second play through, seem like they were designed with multiplayer in mind. Not that it's impossible to do solo, just potentially extremely frustrating at times. As someone who prefers to solo in games that have single and multiplayer options, I have to deduct a point there.

The only flaw I can really find in this game is that the menus are unnecessarily clunky. Namely, the inability to use WASD to navigate menus (Skyrim, anyone?). But really, this is a wonderful game so far, and a much better piece of software than the terrible PC version of the first game was. :D Expand

Boring, mindless shooter. Has the same qualities as BL1 but brings nothing new. I bought it on Steam sale for $13 and think it a waste of money. Got 4 hours out of before getting totally bored.

Borderlands 2 is an incredible, breathtaking game. The storyline is engaging and hilarious, and the game features some of the best voice acting i've ever heard in a game. The combat is addictive, especially when you're playing co-op, and there is nothing more rewarding then defeating the baddies and going to retrieve your new gun. The best shoot and loot of all time.

    Pretty Meh game.

I played for about an hour and unfortunately just couldn't take any more.
The game feels flat and empty.
Really weak humour. (I didn't even chuckle, its more annoying than funny)
Good idea with the graphics but badly executed.
Not really sure what all the hype was about, its probably the worst FPS I have played in quite a few years.

I found myself becoming bored with Borderlands 2 far to quickly. I've avoided it for ages (finally picked it up on a Steam sale) because I didn't like the artistic direction, funnily enough once I started playing it I then thought the graphics were awesome.

The issue I had is that every fight is the same or at least similar enough that I lost the urge to see what's over the next hill.

I'm not exactly sure where it went wrong because on the surface it should be very similar to Fallout 3; and I've probably spent more time in that wasteland than is healthy.

The quests don't quite keep me entertained, exploring turns up obvious but samey stages, the enemies look different but fight very similarly. They fall on the wrong side of the line between challenge though smart AI and challenge though soaking up bullets.

Lastly the sound and music lacks impact. Not a broken game by any means but not one I found entertaining.

I would definately advise borderlands 2. While initially put off by what others said about boring gameplay, I got on its wavelength pretty fast and really enjoyed. The quirky characters are fun too, with some excellent lines. While the campaign is boring to begin with it picks up later in the game. Stick with it, it's worth it.

Thoroughly enjoy the sequel to Borderlands 1. The game was once again well thought through with a good and in some ways "quirky" storyline. The graphics were much better, still maintaining that style that they had adopted in the first game. The guns look better along with character models.

-Re-playability is lacking. Once you finish the main storyline, the new game modes are just repeats of the same content, but harder.
-Sorting through junk for the first 10-15 levels of the game is pretty frustrating. This gets better as the game goes on, but it's still tedious.

I'd recommend this game to anybody looking for a good co-op shooter experience, for a solid 30-40 hours of entertainment more if you plan on replaying the game with different characters.

Borderlands 2 has crushed its prequel with modified gameplay, gorgeous graphics, hectic music and an interesting story. While the sequel improved in every department, its story took me by surprise. The strong, unique, and diverse personalities you’ll meet through the well-paced story improves the entire experience. Most importantly, this gives life and excitement to the planet of Pandora, which was just a boring hunk of rock in the original game. The “Bazzilion” guns that Gearbox claimed Borderlands 2 will have was no joke, and it’s more than just a few minor tweaks in damage and accuracy. The guns will sometimes have a huge bayonet, a wacky reload animation, a crazy looking scope, and may not even have any recoil. When the critics can only complain about an imperfect user-interface, we can conclude that the gameplay is as addicting as we all hoped it would be. Its well-deserved popularity certainly earns a nomination for Game of the Year 2012. For fans of the original Borderlands, this is a no-brainer, but for those who are skeptical about the unique gaming experience that Borderlands 2 has to offer, it’s time to come to your senses and get in on the fun that you’ve been missing out on. The single-player isn't balanced at all. With no help or ways to revive yourself (other than one way that's quite annoying), you become quickly overpowered. There also isn't a difficulty setting, so no cheats if you get stuck somewhere and can't get out.

The jokes you hear in Borderlands 2 are fairly amusing, but also get old. Well, some of it anyway. *Snort bonerfarts snort*

If you like playing first person shooters such as Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or even Counter Strike, and you’re an even bigger nerd if you like comic books and everything that has to do with comics.. You’re in for a big treat with Borderlands 2!

As for the game play, it feels the same as in any other FPS game. Playing solo is fully doable in Borderlands 2 but playing with friends is certainly more fun. There are several ways you can go, either just run in and try to trash it all although I do prefer to run in with tactics beforehand or just discuss the tactics together and see if that works. Loot-wise, when you’re alone it’s all yours. If you’re playing with friends, the loot will be shared but don’t fear! Your friend, that found the awesome Sniper Rifle, can easily trade the weapon to you only if you ask it nicely!

You can choose to play between four different characters, or you can play and level them all in the long run, but you can only play one character at once. Each of these characters, or better yet classes, have their own special powers and gun preferences. Firstly you have Axton, the Commando class which has the special power called ‘Scorpio Turret 2.0′. It simply deploys a scorpio turret that will automatically fire at enemies. Next you have Zero, the Assassin class which I’m absolutely in love with that has ‘Deception’ where you create a holographic decoy and can vanish for a few seconds. Usually this is enough to help you stay alive. The third character you can pick is Salvador, better known as the Gunzerker class. Big guy. Big guns. And that’s what his special power really does, ‘Gunzerking’ will give you a second gun so you can go nuts! The last one is Maya, the Siren class, which has ‘Phaselock’ where she will lockdown an enemy by phasing them into other dimensions. The Siren class somehow reminds me of Wizards or Mages in general, especially when you see her ability.

One down side that I have noticed in the game is that if you make a new character and go through the quests once more or do quests once more with the same character even you will know where to point your gun at. Surely, it could be just me because I store stupid memories in my head but the enemies spawn at the same places over and over again. Adding a few different spawn points could have given you slightly more diversity in the game.

As for the graphics, they combined the play style of First Person Shooters with an entire comic book style-based graphics which is refreshing and totally awesome from my point of view. As for the environments, they’re well cooked. Not only do you have the big city, there’s also the artic tundra to shiver upon or the dangerous grasslands where enemies are hiding in the least expected corners.

Instead of dying, the enemy keeps stuck at one place. You can try everything, nothing happens. You check the internet, people have reported this error back in october 2012 and now it's march 2013 and no fix was made.
Save the game and quit. It locks down your computer. You hard-reboot the computer and turn on the game. Great, now you have to restart the whole phase (about an our gameplay before getting to the same enemy), it locks up again.
In this same phase, it constantly turns off sound, probably a bad instruction. Only comes back after rebooting the computer.
I don't know why people sometimes compare this game with Fallout 3 totally different game. Not bad, but seems much better at teaser videos.

I personally think it's from bribing their players with their special shift codes for golden keys and whatnot. Anyhow, the game, again, is good, but it's not the best. The majority of the main characters, specifically the old vault hunters, lack character and isn't even saved by the better performances by Handsome Jack and CL4PTP. The reason why I've given this game a 7 is because it's chock-full of half-assed ideas. For example, there're too many types of currency, all of which are essentially worthless. Money SHOULD be the most mainstream and valued, but in the end you'll learn after awhile that its only real use is to buy ammo. Eridian is a rarer currency of which you can hold only 99 at any time and is used at the Black Market where you buy ammo/grenade pool upgrades as well as inventory space and vault space of which there is a limit meaning this currency becomes useless as well as its only other use is to enter raid boss areas to fight raid bosses. Seraph Crystals are a "hard-to-get" currency which can only be earned by killing raid bosses from the DLCs and can be used at seraph vendors, which look almost precisely like the black market and where you can buy allegedly ultra rare weapons that are weaker than the rarest weapon type in the normal game... uh... why didn't they just use a new black market system? Finally are torgue tokens, only usable in the 2nd DLC to buy weapons from specific torgue weapon machines wherein the item-of-the-day is always a legendary torgue weapon... these too become useless after you've collected one of each legendary torgue weapon or when you learn the legendary torgue weapons are the worst of the legendary weapons. What other half-baked ideas plague this game you ask? Well the skill trees for the characters are somewhat strange as there are some melee enhancing skill and the assassin character, Zer0, even has a skill tree dedicated to melee... you know... in a FPS game where there are NO melee weapons. Did I also mention that the programmers have also programmed this game so poorly that it's rather hard to patch it? Oh and that they meant this game to be kind of like an MMORPG... except you can only have 4 players at most at time? And that the game is rampant with exploits and easy ways to cheat, but while the programmers know, they only care enough to nerf a weapon and a shield pair that were allegedly overpowered? See the programmers have NO clue what they want this game to be and their priorities must be straightened out. There are tons of references and easter eggs in this game, awesome, but not when you have 4 types of currency that have no use or a whole skill tree that makes no sense and makes the player who uses said skill tree practically useless. While the ideas do have potential to be beyond great if fully realized, the programmers clearly are too busy being fanboys of other games, comics, and tv shows to work on their own original ideas. While the head developer claimed borderlands to be a limitless world where things didn't need to make sense, I find it funny that the only patch they really came out was to NERF something. Their DLCs are half-baked as well and the latter ones become less enjoyable than the prior, which i find rather sad. While this game has the potential to be very well one of the best and unique games out there, it falls short, by a lot due to thew laziness of its programmers and developers. It's sad too because there're so many good examples out there of simple game systems like currency that they failed to follow. Expand

Aside from a few minor complaints, there is nothing holding it back from a major award. The opening mission really pulled me in, as Claptrap's hilarious first dialouge sets up the start for the game. Claptrap's dialouge in it of itself is very hilarous and at times moves the plot forward. Seaking of plot, this is an area where Borderlands 2 excells. Handsome Jack is hands down one of the best villians I have ever faced. The returning cast of characters from the first game are all given something to do and a role to play. Moving on, the variety is insane, with more weapons than I can attempt to count, and the customization for your characters is equally as impressive. The side quests in this game are massive in number and you will never find yourself running low on them. And the side quests play a role too, because you cannot JUST DO THE MAIN QUESTS. That is highly inadvisable, as the teeming hordes of enemies that Handsome Jack throughs at you towards the end will show no mercy when they cut you down. The drop in, drop out co-op is very impressive, and in my opinion, the only way to play. My friend and I(HUGE thanks to him) played through the game together from level 1 up to our current level of 29 and we have only scratched the surface of the multitude of quests this game has to offer. My only complaints are that the npc's in Sanctuary and the other non-enemy controlled towns are very bland and seem to use the same character model. The memes in this game are everywhere to be found and NEVER go away. Memes only tell us that your too lazy to write an actual joke so you have to take someone else's content. DLC, in order of how I would rate them... 1) Pirates 2) Torgue 3) Hammerlock. Pirates was fun, new enemies, new vehicle (and the best one in the game, I think) Torgue was hilarious, and Hammerlock? Hammerlock was crap. If you bought the seasons pass, sorry. You could have spent the same amount of cash on the other 3 (1 not released yet) and saved yourself some trouble. I played this game for about 55 hours. That includes one play through and beating about 95% of all side missions (included in the vanilla game, no DLC). I can tell you this, that was the quickest and most fun, 55 hours I've spent in a shooter in a long time. They say time flies when your having fun, and I say...time flies when you shoot and loot...

Lets start with...the guns...holy crap is there an insane amount of weapons in this game. Chances of you finding the same gun twice are slim to none. Every gun has its own unique stats with its own unique look (plus some weapons have elemental damage to). Come for the fun, stay for the guns ;)

This game is a genius mash of a fast paced shooter with the loot mechanics of a top notch RPG. Mix in a hilarious script, likeable characters and an RPG style levelling system and you have a "AAA" game on your hands. This a prime example of how to mix genres together. If you like shooters, play it. If you like action RPG's, play it. If you like both, your in for a real treat.

The Characters are also what made this game very entertaining. You just don't know what they are going to say or do next. The stories main antagonist, Jack, is a guy you love to hate. I honestly have not had this many laughs in a video game since Conkers Bad Fur Day. Another big plus? 4 player COOP! Although, on the PC version it can be a little buggy and you may get the occasional disconnect, it's so much more fun with your friends and a very welcome feature in any game.

My only gripes with the game are the lack of shared loot or reserved loot. Its kind of a free for all when playing COOP (you do get way better loot playing coop). If your playing with friends you guys can verbally figure out who gets what but when your playing with strangers, In my experiences anyway, it's a free for all. You could be wiping out the entire town of Lynchwood by yourself, then some random guy joins you, shoots two guys and takes the ultra rare weapon that dropped from the last guy. Not a huge deal but that could of been easily addressed. You can trade with other players but more often then not, they are going to keep any rare weapons they find.

The other gripe? The lack of side missions. Now some people would say 55 hours is a decent amount of time spent playing a game (my friend beat it in 30). Well..I figure for every hour spent playing I should get 1 dollar's worth (1 dollar=1 hour). This game could of used more side quests to add a bit more value. You can play through a second time on a harder difficulty with better loot. It's called Vault Hunter mode, and its literally the same game over again. Nothing changes other then better loot (which is not a bad thing, just tacked on).

If I was to suggest ideas to help the next Borderlands game dominate even more...I think there should be a pvp multiplayer mode (with match making of course). Not the duelling system they have now, but a 4v4 or 6v6 kind of thing. That would be lots of fun. With a chance for the winner to get rare loot. I think they should include more vehicles and more open levels. Also (last thing I promise), more character creation options. There's a serious lack of character diversity in this game. Bottom Line- Do not skip this game if you enjoy shooters. Do not skip if you enjoy action RPG's. Definitely do not skip if you enjoy both. IMO, grab this game on a sale. At full price I was expecting a little more content.

They put quite a bit of work into adapting the game for PCs, which I very much appreciate with all the bad console ports around these days. I shouldn't even need to point this out, but it's really something special nowadays... I also applaud the developers for not using extra copy protection besides Steam, which is acceptable in my book. The graphics style and voice acting work really well. The game is advertised as having a bazillion weapons and while that's true, few of these bazillion weapons are actually fun to use. First of all, the weapon design is generally too bulky and also doesn't make sense, even for a computer game. All of the weapons have some annoying weakness. One manufacturer's weapons can only shoot fire, others explode when reloaded, others are very unaccurate when you start shooting... there are no guns that are plain and simply fun to use and that's obviously bad for a shooter. I also wish they'd taken a more realistic approach when designing the weapons, because they are over the top, even for a steam punk scenario. Also, the weapon sway is too much and it's hard to shoot precisely. The main villain is a little too simple-minded, which takes any element of surprise out of the story. Two more annoying things are the vehicle controls (you always drive where you look, no way to rotate the cam while driving) and the "toggle sights" option, actually intended to make things easier. It goes back to using the weapon sights after reloading, but at that point the situation has often changed, because enemies are running towards you, so that you'd rather fire from the hip. The worst thing though, is the multiplayer. To make it short: It's impossible to play online without running into cheaters, which makes for a terrible multiplayer experience. Some people cheat subtly by generating lots of golden keys or hacking the game data to always win at the slot machine, other games are totally hacked (infinite ammo, changed physics... the whole show). I unknowingly joined a cheater's game and now my money is at 99,999,999, I got a ton of golden keys and about 50 badass points. Totally takes any feeling of legit achievement away. P2P is a bad idea for multiplayer and they should offer a game mode where characters are stored online to prevent tampering with the data, especially because the saves are only 20-30kB. Expand

My main issue is eventually you are given the ability to fight one or more 'raid bosses' that require 4 people to play. In a game where you can play all the way through solo, or with just one friend this is disappointing to suddenly have to play with strangers to progress. This is especially hard to do in a game where weapon drops can be picked up by whoever is closest and it is up to them to share or not. This is the only item keeping me from scoring this as a 10.

The main villain, Handsome Jack, was excellently voiced and much of the game had good writing, but the game is simply boring. At certain points of the game, the story feels like it can actually progress somewhere, but half the time you would simply be going through a repetitive and obnoxious shooting gallery full of dumb NPCs, only to get to a generic boss battle where the only strategy to defeat the boss is to continuously shoot its weak spot for massive damage. The story is simply too thin for me to care about half the events that happen. The concepts in this game have been used over and over again. Not to mention the guns are EXTREMELY lacking in a game which boasts so much about the variety of guns available. Only one out of every thousand generic gun you pick up will be anything interesting, but sadly it will be useless in only an hour, as all the enemies will become much stronger, rendering that gun completely useless. Game stability on PC is also questionable, as it can easily decide to crash or freeze on you, and then screw you over when the checkpoint save system does not save your progression correctly. Movement is sloppy and either Pandora's gravity is ridiculously low, or all the characters hover in the air when they jump. Playing cooperatively is a kick in the balls when you fight all the way through an area only to have your teammates take all the loot. Expand

With that said, I had my reservations about Borderlands 2, but I got it anyway - and I must say, I'm disappointed. There are some good ideas in there - badass tokens are a cool concept - and some of the plot development and writing are pretty good. But the devil is in the details, and that's where this sequel falls short.

The classes you choose are a rehash of the original 4 classes, with class techniques that are meh, at best. The worst thing for me is the voice acting overall - the class voices have no 'oomph' compared to the first game, and the Angel AI in particular was disappointing since she is no longer enigmatic in the slightest.

A good idea for a sequel with some improvements over the original, which nonetheless fails to live up to the potential of the premise.

It improves the original in almost all aspects, but the most notable and important (IMO) it's history and characters. Now we have a good plot with superb dialogue (most of the time) and excelent characters. I love to hate Handsome Jack, one of the best vilains of this generation of games.

I haven't finished the game completely yet, though enough to get a good grasp of how Borderlands 2 works. First thing is that Borderlands 2 is very similar to the first Borderlands gameplay wise, so if you disliked the first one, you'd probably better skip this one until it goes on sale or something. Aside from that, I can see some significant improvements in the story and graphics. TheI haven't finished the game completely yet, though enough to get a good grasp of how Borderlands 2 works. Aside from that, I can see some significant improvements in the story and graphics. The story in the first Borderlands was pretty much non-existent. Borderlands 2 changes this as a solid story is put in place in addition to some character development. In terms of visuals, Borderlands 2 maintains the original's art style while making improvements on textures, graphics options and such. The inclusion of PhysX is also really nice if your PC can handle it. Though even with all these niceties, there are some flaws. The beginning was very slow and I believe the side quests could've been more engaging. Borderlands 2 is a good game but I don't think it deserves as much praise as the critics are giving it. Expand

Very silly game. Really (like, really) enjoyed the first version, this one though, makes being killed multiple times a part of the game. Not much fun really. Obviously, one dies, but here, it seems like it's designed to do that, as opposed to you feeling like you could have actually done it without your character dying.
    Very disappointing, spent $120 on copies for my daughter and I;

Very disappointing, spent $120 on copies for my daughter and I; really, really wish I'd tested it out from torrent first, as it's just not a very fun game at all, and we totally wasted our money.

Best graphics I've ever seen in my entire life!! If you got a **** graphic card, you should get your hands on this game quickly. This game got soo "f*cked up" graphics that it shouldn't bother you at all. But after all a very good game. Run and buy!

9/10. Easiest score I ever gave. Game is great with lots of action and explosions. The maps are well laid out and I am loving the tongue in cheek humor. Love Jack and his voice overs. I deducted a point because the character weapon / backpack interface that worked so well in Borderlands was tweaked to become less usable. Hard to see weapon stats without selecting the actual weapon. Select9/10. Easiest score I ever gave. Game is great with lots of action and explosions. Hard to see weapon stats without selecting the actual weapon. Select backpack and you cannot see stats on equipped things. You can by selecting "Compare", but it is not easy to run through many items at once. Have to select each in turn. It's a minor niggle, but it bugs me every time I access it. Also, you cannot throw grenades when trying for a Second Wind. You CAN move slowly when down which is nice for getting around boxes and better than the original. Expand

It’s addicting, full of creative gags and amazing battles (especially in co-op mode) and it keeps dangling that loot-carrot in front of your face. Add that crazy humor on top and you have a synonymous for the world ‘entertainment’. [November 2012]

If you're looking for something with a ponderous story full of morality and contemplation – one best savored alone – then you'll need to look elsewhere. Borderlands 2 delivers tons of lighthearted, occasionally juvenile fun with immense replayability, and is best approached with a few buddies in tow. It doesn't revolutionize the concept pioneered by its forebear, but it refines it to a razor-sharp edge and offers some of the most fun you can have in a cooperative action RPG this side of Diablo II. And if nothing else, it's got lots of Claptrap.

The moment at which my endearingly annoying robot companion Claptrap fashioned himself a Mohawk out of some animal fur I collected he earned a spot on my all-time favorite robot list.
