Dec 12, 2025A delicious puzzle-roguelike charms, but suffers from lack of save options.
-
Oct 14, 2025Blue Prince blends puzzles and roguelike exploration into something refreshingly original, clever, calm, and unlike anything else you’ve played.
-
May 6, 2025This is worth your time more than anything if you enjoy puzzles. Please please please don’t sit on Blue Prince (and bring a note pad, you’ll absolutely need it.)
-
Apr 22, 2025Even now, I want to go start another run of Blue Prince. I have ideas floating around in my head and if I just draft the right room I’ll be on my way to unlocking more of the mysteries of this mansion. I’ve had more than a few late nights since starting this title, telling myself that I was on my last run but then instantly starting another once it ended. That’s what a great roguelike does to players and Blue Prince is certainly that, as well as a great puzzle game. Blue Prince constantly forced me to learn new things and work towards a wide variety of goals in a way which forced me to change my entire way of thinking about similar titles, even changing how I think about progression. It’s a masterpiece that players should run to play.

Apr 14, 2025Blue Prince is a brilliantly designed, atmospheric puzzle game that masterfully blends exploration, strategy, and storytelling, making it a strong contender for Game of the Year.
-
Apr 14, 2025Blue Prince from developer Dogubomb and publisher Raw Fury is everything it is cracked up to be. It’s easy to pick up and play, thick with strategy and play-driven decisions, and simple to come back to repeatedly in the face of failure thanks to some amazing gameplay elements that were methodically built for its design.
-
Apr 13, 2025Blue Prince’s fantastic puzzle design, roguelike room-laying mechanics, and intriguing mysteries create an experience that’s utterly captivating. You’re encouraged to ponder every clue and remember every detail, all while striving to find the next big discovery.
-
Apr 11, 2025And then there’s the fact that Blue Prince has the best titular homophone in video games (sorry Fortnite). It’s a game about the blueprints of the Mount Holly Estate, and naturally a magical mansion like this has a story; it’s this, the family behind it, and the fantastical wider world in which they live, that will draw you to the 46th room and far, far beyond.
-
Apr 10, 2025Blue Prince made me feel like a genius. It also made me feel like an idiot. The two experiences are intrinsically linked; the stumbling bewilderment making the moments of breakthrough all the more brilliant. If you’ve even a passing interest in puzzles, play Blue Prince. And do so resisting the urge to look up any of its answers. Because provided you’re willing to take notes, your perseverance will, tile by tile, piece together the solutions to one of the finest puzzle games I’ve ever played.
-
Apr 10, 2025There’s a lot of bottled magic in Blue Prince, and it reminds me of the best reasons why fantasy still captures hearts today.
-
Apr 10, 2025Blue Prince took my breath away more times than I could count. Its brilliant mix of genres, intricate puzzles, addictive loop, emotional story, and fascinating setting all work together in harmony to create an absolute classic.
-
Apr 8, 2025A skillful blend of gameplay and compelling storytelling make for an adventure/puzzle game that's not to be missed.
-
Apr 7, 2025I cannot overstate how much Blue Prince blew me away. With an addicting gameplay loop and an expansive mystery that appears bottomless, it’s the kind of game that makes you want to nuke your memory of playing it so that you can experience it all over again. Every time you think you’ve surely seen it all, it will prove you wrong with a new challenge that’ll test your powers of observation like never before. The sense of discovery you’ll feel time and time again is nothing short of phenomenal, making this debut game from Dogubomb something truly special.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince stands as a puzzle adventure that balances trust in the player’s intuition with just enough guidance to prevent total disarray. Every discovered shortcut, every triumphant puzzle solution, and every unexpected twist makes your journey through the mansion feel incredibly personal. Gliding through these rooms with a mixture of awe and trepidation is a testament to the developer’s confidence in both the design and the player’s curiosity. If you’re looking for a game that thrives on your imagination and resourcefulness, Blue Prince is bound to leave a lasting impression.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is a superb puzzler that joyfully challenges and deceives with every layer of its design and execution. You've not played anything quite like this before.
-
Apr 7, 2025I wanted more strange possibilities from the spaces I lived around. With Blue Prince I get that. What an extraordinary game this is.
-
Apr 7, 2025It’s an endlessly captivating labyrinth of twists and turns, with a world that will crawl inside your head and refuse to leave until you’ve finally wrestled its final secrets into submission. And believe me: it’ll take you a while to do that.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is a special game full of mysteries, secrets and mind-blowing moments with an addictive gameplay loop. It's so good that labelling this as one of the best puzzle games of all time feels like a disservice. Instead, it's possibly the most memorable experience I've ever had playing a game and I can't stop thinking about it.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is a strategic masterpiece with much more to it than meets the eye. Each playthrough feels unique thanks to the draft system, while permanent upgrades preserve your progress. Without a doubt, this is one of the best games of the year.
-
May 7, 2025Blue Prince takes the roguelike formula, throws in DIY architecture, and manages to combine them to form a pretty impressive tale of intrigue and a very fun puzzler. The simple mechanics make a complex whole with great puzzles and reason to play run after run!
-
Apr 21, 2025Blue Prince is an exceptional puzzle game, and one that we didn’t necessarily ask for in its roguelike form. While the game provides you with a clear objective at the start, it quickly becomes apparent that there is a lot more than one final objective to keep you coming back to Blue Prince, even after finding the 46th room. Once in a while, a game comes along and changes the gaming landscape for the foreseeable future. With the arrival of Blue Prince, I expect to see more games coming in a similar mold over the next few years. While some will hit and some will miss, I doubt many will have the same lasting impact as Blue Prince.
-
Apr 17, 2025Blue Prince is everything I want in an indie game: a unique, creative idea brought to life with expert execution. Its combination of roguelikes and puzzle games feels effortless, with each aspect boosting my enjoyment of the other. Like the best puzzle games, it makes the player feel smart, and like the best roguelikes, it makes the player infinitely hungry for another run. Ultimately, Blue Prince is about mysteries. It harnesses the innate, burning curiosity one feels when seeing a closed door at the end of a hallway and crafts it into an unforgettable experience.
-
Apr 14, 2025What could possibly be so amazing about this game that everyone’s raving about it? But even the skeptic in me quickly fell in love. No exaggeration - if you love playing games, or especially if you make them, you’d be missing out big time by skipping this one. The game design is just that ridiculously good.
-
May 7, 2025Blue Prince is a unique fusion of puzzle adventure and roguelike mechanics. With deep replayability, layered mysteries, and a progression system that rewards patience and methodical thinking, Blue Prince is a deeply original experience that blends cerebral challenge with roguelike persistence. It’s not for everyone—but those who dive in will find one of the most rewarding puzzle games in years.
-
Apr 7, 2025I love Blue Prince so much I'm going to spend the next 1,500 words or so telling you as little about it as possible. Unraveling its many mysteries and solving its multitude of puzzles—several of which I'm still working on even after finishing the game—is best done if you go in with nearly no information. Don't watch videos. Don't Google solutions. Don't even finish reading this review. Just go play it.
-
Aug 9, 2025Blue Prince is a game that you can easily get yourself engrossed with. What appeared to be a simple game turned out to be one full of surprises around the corner, making it a must-play game for puzzle and roguelike fans alike.
-
May 9, 2025Blue Prince is a unique blend of genres and inspirations, offering exceptional puzzle gameplay and dozens of hours of investigation and deduction. The game does not provide answers directly, you need to uncover them yourself through observation, logic, and ideally a stack of handwritten notes. Without those, you may get lost unless you have an excellent memory. For patient players, this is one of the best puzzle adventures in decades. Minor flaws are easily outweighed by the satisfaction of discovery. If you dislike getting lost, find note-taking absurd, and expect instant clarity, this is definitely not the game for you.
-
Apr 22, 2025With its rare intelligence, Blue Prince is a title with a unique concept that clearly won't appeal to everyone. Demanding a great deal of patience on the part of the player, its roguelite structure also adds randomness to the mansion's various mysteries, which is likely to cause some frustration. But if you can hang in there, you'll discover one of the most innovative and enjoyable puzzle games of recent years.
-
Apr 17, 2025Like its sprawling mansion, Blue Prince is loaded with secrets, beautifully organic puzzles and hidden emotional depth, making each run a mysterious treat.
-
Apr 17, 2025Blue Prince is not just a game — it’s an invitation to engage in a layered, active process of interpretation. It defies conventions, rewards patience, and values the player’s critical intelligence. It won’t appeal to everyone, but those who accept its challenge will come out changed. A rare, bold, and necessary experiment.
-
Edge MagazineApr 17, 2025As paradoxical as the thing itself, this single-storey mansion is a towering achievement. [Issue#410, p.106]
-
Apr 15, 2025Blue Prince is a handcrafted contraption meticulously crafted with the kind of attention to detail that is typical of obsession, an excellent puzzle-roguelite that falls just a pinch short of the magical dust that made the giants of the genre what they are.
-
Apr 9, 2025Blue Prince is a rare gem in the puzzle and exploration genre. With an original approach, it challenges the player's logic while instigating curiosity through a mysterious, beautiful world full of secrets. The constant feeling of discovery, combined with mechanics that transform each new game into a different experience, makes the game stand out.
-
Apr 9, 2025Wildly inventive, tantalisingly mysterious, and ethereally beautiful, Blue Prince is easily one of the best puzzle games I've ever played.
-
Apr 8, 2025With a simple premise that iterates on roguelike and puzzle solving, Blue Prince offers a unique and satisfying experience where every step and every door brings us a little closer to unraveling a fascinating mystery.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince's ever-shifting halls and rich web of enticing mysteries easily secure its place as an all-time puzzle great.
-
Apr 7, 2025Unlike any other game you've played before, Blue Prince is something very special indeed. An exploration roguelike game filled with puzzles and intrigue, it's all about making your way around an ever-changing house in order to discover its secrets. This is a seriously clever game, and its layered puzzles and narrative will constantly surprise and delight you. You won't be able to pull yourself away until you've uncovered all the mysteries that Blue Prince holds.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince’s mysterious manor is just begging to be explored, providing a puzzling experience unlike anything else in the gaming space.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is astonishing, refreshing, and its rabbit hole goes so deep I haven’t been able to find the bottom yet — despite rolling credits weeks ago.
-
Apr 7, 2025A brilliant puzzle and strategy game that constantly surprises with new challenges and revelations.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince was the most fun I had playing a puzzle game thanks to the variety of challenges and freedom, but it suffered from the chance of RNG ruining the run.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is one of the most memorable video game experiences I have ever had. It is at once accessible and impenetrable, frustrating and euphoric. Like each of my dozens of permutations of the Mount Holly manor house itself, it is truly one of a kind.
-
Apr 7, 2025All told, for a game that wasn’t even on my radar until recently, Blue Prince is a truly wonderful surprise, serving as a new benchmark for both adventure games and roguelikes moving forward. It can be equal parts rewarding as it can be frustrating, depending on how you approach it and how the dice may roll. Yet, despite those frustrations, there’s still just so much to love about Blue Prince that I can’t ever stay mad at it.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince defies genre, and it defies the gamer instinct to min-max. It is contemplative, a journey that can’t be rushed, though you might be tempted to try. It will delight you, thrill you, and probably make you run crying to the internet for answers you can’t seem to tease out on your own. I’ve never played anything like it, but I won’t be surprised if we see more takes on the roguelike puzzler in the future because of it.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is the kind of engrossing puzzle game that will change your brain chemistry.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is a puzzle gaming experience like no other. It's a roguelike that tests the player's ability to progress in their own mind as much as through whatever's in the game itself. It's deliberate with its pacing, which isn't always a good thing. It'd be nice to be able to move at a faster speed than walking speed, but I guess there's no running inside the house (or outside the house, for that matter). Despite that and an ambient soundtrack that can feel dull, Blue Prince's formula and its abundance of secrets are undeniably engaging. Even if it takes over 100 days to get to the fortune in the 46th room, this is a game that will have players feeling rich regardless.
-
Apr 7, 2025Perhaps the highest praise that can be bestowed upon Blue Prince, and a validation of the near-decade that Ros has spent working on it, is the way in which the game successfully inspires players to follow the advice of the protagonist’s great-uncle: “Abandon the path and go where you want it to lead.” In the end, that’s not Room 46, but rather deeper into a game that you will want to make your new home, or at least a full-on obsession.
-
May 4, 2025The most intricate, most frustrating, most satisfying, and most mysterious puzzle game I've played recently.
-
Apr 18, 2025Blue Prince surprises and captivates even those who dislike roguelites and puzzle games, proving that curiosity and great design can sometimes shatter any gaming prejudice.
-
Apr 13, 2025Despite frustrations with the random elements of gameplay, Blue Prince presents an experience that is unique, memorable, and as ever-shifting as the rooms of Mt. Holly. It throws you into a mystery full of mysteries and will ask you to take enough notes to create your own conspiracy board.
-
Apr 9, 2025Blue Prince is a unique and refreshing puzzle game that breaks away from the conventional, featuring complex challenges and solutions that constantly evolve.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is a fascinating game. The premise is enticing for those who like card-based board games, and the bits of randomization help the game feel difficult without being outright unfair about it. The slow trickle of story information might seem frustrating at first, but it helps give one motivation to keep going, especially when you solve a puzzle and everything starts to fall into place. Those who love environmental puzzle titles will get some real joy out of Blue Prince.
-
Apr 16, 2025While the roguelike elements can cause frustration, Blue Prince still manages to be a fantastic experience. It nails the sense of discovery and leverages the randomness to keep it going much longer than a traditional puzzle game does, all while constantly motivating you towards a grand objective that’s satisfying to solve.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is a subtle yet deeply satisfying puzzle game that invites you to slow down, think carefully, and unravel its mysteries one thoughtful step at a time, guiding you through a beautiful, tangled labyrinth of your own creation.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince feels truly unique in how it takes a simple premise and fills it with multiple threads of mystery to pull at. This exploration roguelike is like nothing else I've played, and became a puzzle obsession I just couldn't shake across multiple runs where I always felt like I was discovering something new. Even after credits, the mysteries of Mt. Holly continue to surprise me.
-
Apr 23, 2025If the mix of puzzle game and rogue-lite works up to a certain point, it is mainly because Blue Prince makes no concessions on its random nature. Whether you’re 2 or 200 hours into the game, it will continue to be the number one obstacle in your quest for knowledge and puzzles. Despite that, it’s a game that remains fascinating, one that easily obsesses the person who is ready to dive in to make it one of the most striking video game experiences of recent years. For others, it will be far too heavy and uncertain an investment.
-
Apr 20, 2025Blue Prince is quite an interesting game that brings innovations to a stagnant genre, but at the same time suffers from a whole set of shortcomings.

May 27, 2025Blue Prince is one of those games that demonstrates a depth and excellence that we rarely see in the world of video games. [Recommended]
-
Apr 7, 2025The Blue Prince isn't for everyone. While most of the puzzles can be solved with whatever's in the room, there are some intricate solutions afoot that could elude casual players. The mansion's shifting layout and unpredictable room choices can make progress uneven -- or even bring it to a halt if luck isn't on your side. But it's by far one of the most unique games I've played in years, and a true treat for puzzle fiends and mystery fans.
-
Apr 7, 2025A mystery-packed mansion that will crank open your mind.
-
Apr 7, 2025If you hadn't gotten the message by now, Blue Prince is a marvel. [RPS Bestest Bests]

Apr 18, 2025I’ll be 100 percent honest and say that it’s not a game I’m especially jazzed to play. (And while I’m drawing parallels, I’ll note that Lorelei had this same irritation baked into it: Intrusions meant to break up the puzzles, except I really like the puzzles, guys, I swear.) The key breaking point came the last time I stumbled onto some clue that gave context to a different puzzle in a different room of the house—and the broken sigh I let out when I realized the game would force me to jump through its various hoops before letting me test that newfound knowledge out. I know I’ll revisit the game at some point, crack back open that insane and rambling email draft, and start teasing out new mysteries again. But I also know I won’t be able to stop myself from asking: Dang, what if this was just the parts of the video game that I liked?
-
Apr 14, 2025There is a story in Blue Prince but from what I’ve seen so far, it has little bearing on the puzzles and isn’t all that interesting. There’s a mystery involving members of your family’s political leanings, a missing author, and a disgruntled employee, but I’m so hungry to figure out how to open the door to the basement that I don’t pay it much mind. I’m about 27 hours in, which feels pretty hefty for a puzzle game. And I feel with all that I’ve uncovered and all I think I have left to uncover, I could go 30 hours more and it would pass in the blink of an eye.
-
Apr 7, 2025Blue Prince is, hands down, one of the best games I’ve ever played. And that’s indie or AAA. It’s a triumph in environmental storytelling, as well as game and puzzle design. It’s a game that you need to play. The only thing it asks of you is to truly engage with its world. I still can’t say enough about what Tonda Ros and his team have put together. There is nothing like this game. Blue Prince should be front and center in contention for 2025’s Game of the Year award. [Class Of Its Own]
