Overall Bleach: Rebirth of Souls is exactly what people might expect. A 3D arena fighter with over 30 of Tite Kubo's iconic characters. With an engaging style of combat as well as a great adaptation of the art style into 3D, the only negatives can be some feelings of repetitiveness, and that the game can be a bit resource intensive even for a modern release. If you're a fan of Bleach, of shonen in general, or even just of 3D arena fighters with a ranged cast, then Rebirth of Souls is a fantastic pick-up.

Bleach Rebirth of Souls manages to be a stylish 3D fighting game that interprets the original work well and is able to explore in great detail the main arcs of its plot before what is currently being adapted into an anime. Its main bottleneck is the lack of diversity of modes and a more robust online that encourages players to remain active, but for those who want to relive the nostalgia of Tite Kubo's creation, the game hits the nail on the head with its story mode and the mechanical construction of its combat.

Though a performance patch is definitely needed, BLEACH: Rebirth of Souls, at its core, is a phenomenal BLEACH game, capturing the style and substance of the series’ explosive battles and bringing its characters to life.

If we had to describe Bleach Rebirth of Souls in a few words, it would surely be a solid foundation for the sequel, because yes, even if it does have its flaws, it's still a pleasure to discover if you're a fan of the license, and above all a source of hope if other opuses ever see the light of day. Its story mode is very complete, even if we would have preferred it to be more balanced. The gameplay is fun to play once you've mastered it, despite the slowness of the movements, and the roster is adequate, even if there are a few absentees.

For non-fans, those not familiar with the anime series, Bleach: Rebirth of Souls is an extremely controversial purchase. For fans of fighting, it is simply okay once you overcome the entry threshold.

Bleach Rebirth of Souls delivers a mechanically solid combat system and a faithful visual homage to the source material. Its deep mechanics and stylish presentation will please longtime fans, but persistent technical shortcomings and a lackluster story mode prevent it from reaching its full potential. Engaging, yet ultimately held back by missed opportunities.

Bleach Rebirth of Souls is reminiscent of the cel-shaded fighting games that were all the rage in the early 2000s. While the sometimes redundant and somewhat complex approach to combat may be surprising at first, the game quickly reveals the depth of its content with a roster of 32 characters and a Campaign mode that retraces a large part of the manga. The technical aspect, on the other hand, is behind, and we should therefore not expect a title that meets current visual codes. Thirty years after Toshinden, Tamsoft is giving the Bleach license a boost in video games, and that can only please fans.

For Bleach fans, Rebirth of Souls is a fun little treat – and while it’s not the most polished experience, there’s still a lot to love about how it shoots for the moon.
