It’s great to see this game getting a second life. Who would have believed it possible for this game to be playable on consoles? The mood is still great, and the game is very replayable because of the randomization of who is human or replicant. I very much enjoyed this retro-future trip back to 2019.

The best thing about this edition is that it will reach some people the original didn’t. Apart from that, it feels like a step back in pretty much every aspect.

To be clear: the vote is on the work done with the Enhanced Edition, not on Blade Runner itself, which remains an excellent adventure, full of interesting ideas.

A pointless re-release. If you really want to play this game, despite all its shortcomings, you should pick up the superior ScummVM version.

    TLDR; Refund requested.

Back in 1997, Westwood (RIP) released Bladerunner, a game based on the universe of the movie of the same name.
    TLDR; Refund requested.

Back in 1997, Westwood (RIP) released Bladerunner, a game based on the universe of the movie of the same name.

The sound and graphics at the time we’re perfect for the game, and was highly engaging and had a lot of references to the original movie which made it seem part of the movie even more.

So when I read that an “Enhanced” version was being released, I was excited, thought “cool, long as its the same game but with better graphics, then it will be excellent”.

Some videos appeared online, showing some of the in-game videos side by side showing the cleanup that had been done to those – and it seemed impressive.
I left it at that and thought I’d wait for its release.

    I should’ve kept waiting.

Sound – exactly as the original

Graphics – although supposedly touched up, I could not see any difference

Video – seeing the videos on their own and not side by side, could not tell any difference, and they’re suppose to be running at 60fps rather than the original 30fps – doubling the framerate does not fill in the gaps for a 30fps video, so what was the point ?

Gameplay – the same as the original although apparently they have REMOVED certain actions as the story goes along.

Its a pity. Considering most of the scenes in the game are fixed backgrounds, it would not have taken long to have re-done them in nice HD at least, but no, it was an extremely lazy effort.

Even the game screen is running 4:3 as the original did (which was normal back in 97), with these big borders down the sides.

Stick to the original via ScummVM or if like me, the original 4CD version.
