Jan 9, 2021Graphically it's good enough, but mechanically doesn't feel good or responsive. The story is simple, too simple yet still unclear. If you are thinking of checking this out, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is similar but superior in every way.

Jul 20, 2017Five Word Review: Short adventure game about loss.
Favorite Thing: The art style for the characters.
Least Favorite Thing: The movement feels very floaty and unresponsive.
Date Completed: 2017-07-19
Playtime: ~ 2h
Enjoyment: 6/10
Recommendation: It's a short and (mostly) enjoyable experience. Just don't expect to be blown away.

Jul 5, 2017A forgettable game with a simplistic story and primitive puzzles. As soon as you leave the game, they quickly fade away like memories of a seemingly fun dream.

Jun 27, 2017The microproject about family misery prefers the idea before gameplay. A good scenario forces you to think about life and death, but the perfect story-based adventure must offer more.

Jun 9, 2017Provided you're not short on empathy, Blackwood Crossing has a good tale to tell. The various forms of loss and growing up are dealt with quite well, while the fanciful setting gives you the impetus to keep going even if you know exactly how the tale will end. It does need some work on the puzzle mechanics, as a fiddly detection system and slow walking can be frustrating once the solution is known. Overall, this is a good first effort from the development team, and it's worth a look if you're a genre fan.
