    An almost perfect remake of an almost perfect game. It was great to play the good old Half Life again with some sweet new HD graphics and some awesome new music. I'd recommend this game not only to the ones that played the old Half Life, but also to other gamers that enjoy a good story and some awesome first-person shooter action.

A masterfully forged love letter to one of the best games of all time, expanded so incredibly far that it partially surpasses even the sequel to the original.     As someone who never played the original Half-Life, but did Play Half-Life 2, Black Mesa felt like a mix between old school game design with a modern coat of paint. It certainly feels like an older title, but a good one.

Нельзя стрелять между некоторыми объектами на карте, просто пули врезаются в невидимую стенку, хотя там пустое пространство. Даже как в скайримчике, нельзя одеть мусорное ведро наголову какому-то nps.
    Мир Зен тоже изначально    Хорошо сделанный и не совсем равномерный ремейк.

    Хорошая игра, но ремейк должны делать сами Valve и с достаточным бюджетом, что бы первая часть смогла удивить, как и в прежние времена.

    As a person who never played hl1 i think this one is more playable for sure just by the look of it i can tell... but the enemy Ai just feels unfair they can see you through a pin hole and shoot their reaction time is unmatched they don't miss too like what are we sposed to do... took me 19 hours to finish on normal difficulty.

    I've never been a fan of the Half-Life series, it's probably one of the most overrated game series in the world. The reason I don't like Black Mesa is the horrible level design. The game doesn't guide the player in any way and acts as if you've played the game before. I lost what little interest I had in the story within the first few hours with these terrible gameplay mechanics.     A faithful remake of Half-life. Almost everything in the original has been improved upon. However there are some bugs that arent in the original game. Not sure when they'll get fixed but hopefully soon.

    Unlike the original REAL Half-Life you have no choice but be lead by the neck by dumbass devs.
    Only one who actually did their job was the art guy. Everyone else from the movement to the level design is a complete idiot unfortunately.

    I finished Half Life (and all its successors) tens of times. My expectations with Black Mesa were super high. I didn't get disappointed. My God this game is good. So faithful, rich and overall a much more modern and appealing experience in 2022. A full 10/10.

    It's a very nice production. I had a very nice experience. It's one of the most beautiful works I've ever seen and thank you for playing this game. By the way, the music is very nice.

    Amazing remake, super fun gunplay. The world stays true to the original Half-Life but adds more details where needed and makes the overall experience feel less claustrophobic. Plus xen is fun this time and looks gorgeous!

    Graphics is very consistent, quality of models sometimes vary, but still its somehow original and some places are top even without todays technologies. Just sometimes I stopped to watch enviroment and said to myself: damn, those guys has good imagination..

    Its fast paced, you can quickload, quicksave. You have control over your character all time, cutscenes are simply happenign no matter if you watch them or move forward and you dont loose control over your character. its similar to Dead Space - you are simply there.

    There was some things I didnt like, but game do not make habit of repeating itself so once you go through it, you wont see it again in another form. Also imo some parts of Xen was a bit too long like its a bit different game then previous parts and from time time changed pace of game, nevertheless it was still great but a little bit unbalanced in how you feel about it. ...and I dont like jumping parts in whatever fps game .).

    Its one of rare games I am considering give it 10. Its almost there.

    For everyone who like to enjoy atmospheric world, fps and enjoy games which do not waste your time I would recommend it.

    The 1st time I tried the MOD was in 2013 I believe, it was a blast! I remember writing an email to the guys at crowbar collective to thank them for the hard work, I really appreciated their effort. Then I bought the game when it was released on the Steam platform as a stand-alone game around 2017. Man, that was an awesome experience! What a great way to relieve the story that started my deep connection and passion for the games and their lore.

    But after completing the Lambda Core chapter, when I jumped into the portal instead of taking me into the alien world, I was told that the game was not completed yet. I would have to wait for the final chapter to be released! They did not have the XEN chapters ready yet. OMG, I didn't like that at all, I was frustrated, felt history repeating itself, felt the same way I felt when it was becoming evident that Episode III was never going to be released. A few years went by, and then I saw the Black Mesa definitive edition including the XEN chapters, it was beautiful. You could see the passion, the love, and the hard work these guys put their back into it. I felt the lure, calling me back to complete the story, become the freeman once again and kick the nihilant ass.

    It was beautiful, I enjoyed it. Man what a Masterpiece. Wish we could see Half-life III someday.    … Expand

    Hard to even contemplate how much work went into this game, based on all the detail and long, long gameplay. What an absolute treat to play this if you liked or loved Halflife!

    Very good FPS with light puzzle and platformer elements that is worthy of the Half-Life name. The FPS mechanics and game engine are a bit antiquated by today's standards, but the excellent level design makes up for it. The alien world of Xen in particular in spectacular.

    A lot of levels in Black Mesa go on a little too long. That could be a good thing depending on your point of view though.

    It has been decades since I played the original HL so it is hard to remember how much of Black Mesa is true to the original and how much is extra. It is also limited by the Source engine it is using so some issues may be tied to either of these but overall I think I'd rather play the original with updated HD graphics. I do admire and give credit for the team building this game out.     The biggest complaint i have is that the chapters are really, really long. I don't remember them being anywhere near this long in the original and honestly almost every level overstays its welcome about halfway through. Whole sections are devoid of anything so it really just seems like a slog to get through.

    The second issue I have is the updated Xen and later areas. They are just so different than any of the previous levels and honestly just don't seem to fit the HL flow to me. They are really, really long as well and the jumping sections are just bad. The original Xen level was bad too but I don't think this version is an upgrade. I really couldn't wait for it to end and then...the next set of levels are the same.

    Another issue I had was the finicky jumping. If you happen to jump while near something then you tended to bounce off in a random direction. Could be a bug or could be by design. I personally disliked the jumping sections altogether. The original had jumping too so I expected some of this but this just seems off.

    I also don't understand why bringing up the menu provides a quick link to save which you can click that then takes you to the save screen where you have to click save again and then confirm that you want to overwrite the save that you just clicked to save twice already.

    Overall I think this was a well done port but as for gameplay and mechanics I think it is mediocre. Again, I cannot remember all the parts of the original HL to know what was added and what wasn't but it just seemed overly extended rather than short and sweet.    … Expand

Compare it to Xen's fungi which look similar. big difference.)

El apartado gráfico y sonoro es excepcional, y la jugabilidad perfecta. Tan solo adolece de algunos bugs, si bien no entorpecen demasiado, y de que la traducción ha quedado un poco incompleta.

    Black Mesa is the definitive way to play Half-Life 1. While it does not hold up as much as Half-Life 2 due to its more grounded story, overall harder difficulty and lacking reach within the community, it is most definitely a worthwhile purchase for the experience of playing its campaign.

    Imagine Half-Life but better, that's how impressive this game is. It takes what make Half-Life good, like it's storytelling and combat, and turn it to 11. There's almost no reason to pick up the original if you are new to Half-Life, that's how good the game is.

    Black Mesa is incredible game. All things are wonderfull. This is not just a remake. This game is very different from the original half-life. The last 2 episode are iittle bit long and ı am bored but still this game is a masterpiece.
