    The game is like Slay The Spire but with an actual well writen and voiced plot and minus the rogue-like elements. The story is good and the game contains lots of real Russian folklore. There are several original and interesting game mechanics such as "demon managing" (you must choose if you will send your demons to harass other people or suffer their debuffs or find ways to mitigate their penalties) and puzzle combat. There is lots of room for roleplaying choices to become a good or bad witch. And there are many options for build/deck customization. The only cons of the game are minimalistic graphics (this didnt stop Slay The Spire from being a great game) and that the difficulty is rather easy even on the "extreme" setting. I would also love if the "sin" system had more interactions with the game play than simply affecting some dialogue and the endings. Maybe some item or card interactions would be great. Or maybe i havent gotten that far.… Expand

    Such an amazing game about Russian fairytales and mythology . Devs created amazing living world with great story ! Loved playing it ! Finally good game based on Russian myths.

    This is definitely not my favourite tipe of games, but this is perfect. Story, setting, gameplay- everything 10/10.

    When at the end of the game they started talking about the Communists, the game immediately received 1 point from me. What for? /// Когда в конце игры начали рассказывать про коммунистов - игра сразу получила от меня 1 балл. Зачем?

    I wonder if it is possible to underestimate the absence of the Russian language, is it possible to underestimate the absence of any other language in their games?
    If it's possible to **** a game over LGBT references, can it be turned against them?

    Great game with Slavic folklore. Familiar card game gameplay. Great visual. Hope to see more games with similar folklore.

    Incredible game, I've walked it through in one breath. Love how it brings Russian folklore to a wider international audience. A great thing is you can get different endings according to your choices in the game.

    To me this is a game that falls between 7.5-8 range. Not a big fan of the art style, but I love the deckbuilding and card combat. The lores and plots are also pretty different and interesting.

A very beautiful Russian-Orthodox-pagan setting, the music is very good and there are a lot of pleasant gameplay features for the interaction with which the game encourages sooner or later. Very good voice acting of the characters is just 100 percent immersion in the history and world of Cherdyn county. Well, a veryYou don't need to talk much about this game, you have to play this game.     Finally someone try to show east Slavic folklore and did it really great. Visual (7/10): great arts, music, deep atmosphere feeling, great card design, buut 3D is ugly. it's an indie game, so just be prepared to see square faces.     Gameplay (9/10): game play is really interesting, because you change you cards in deck after each chapter of adventure, and play a different play style. Very entertaining "magic durak" game to relax after main adventures and card puzzles to get some new items.
    In game you have some balancing buf(items and herbs) and debuff(own demons and humanity) mechanics.

    Story (9/10): All game I was really exited maybe not for the story but for the lore and how authors connected everything so logical in one story. Characters are also great, especially Proshka(black cat).

    All in all, you have to play this game because it so unique, to miss such opportunity to try something fresh and new in industry.    … Expand

    It's an average card-game style rpg, but the voice acting is good. There are some bugs and translation issues here and there, but nothing major. The pace of the game is a little bit slow if you decide to follow the story/lore.

    A great way to dive into the folklore of the Russian North. The setting is remarkably fresh, the story is well-written, and while the card battles are rather mediocre, the game doesn’t penalize the player for skipping them. [Issue#255, p.50]

    Black Book holds a lot of promise… not as a game, but rather an interactive guide to local myths and legends. In all other aspects it’s an exercise in mediocrity.

    This game is low budget, sure, but that doesn’t hold it back in the slightest. It’s a very good card game, especially attractive for Eastern European players due to the captivating way in which it deals with Slavic mythology.
