DylanB.Jan 8, 2008Overall, the game was excellent. One of the best games I have played in a long time. Graphics are exceptional, gameplay and storyline are extremely good. But, the one thing I found lacking was finding the Little Sisters. There were parts where I looked everywhere and could not find the Little Sister even though there was supposed to be one on the level. Definately worth the money.

MattW.Jan 4, 2008One of the most facinating FPS I have ever played. For your second (or first for that matter) turn off the music and enjoy the unique and subtle enivornment that is Rapture. Listen to the denzions of the city share their stories. Lose yourself to the song of the whales as they swim near the glass. An experience you won't ever forget.
-
-
JoeF.Jan 4, 2008Even after completion i feel touched by the game, like i really was and am now in rapture the way the game tells it's story delivers it's "WOW" by far better than anything i have ever played. If you miss this you wont get the oppertunity again for a long time.

RayP.Jan 2, 2008Great game with a wonderfull environment and soundtrack. Very processor intensive. Only application that I had to re-tune my overclock down to play.
-
-
darthmaulskywalkerJan 1, 2008The haunting musical score, amazing graphics, and innovative gameplay sets a new bar for the FPS genre. The storytelling also immerses you in the game as you fight Big Daddies and collect EVE. There's also little chance you'll take it out before playing again to see the 2nd ending.

-
MattB.Dec 31, 2007The art of deception smoothly polished on to the storyline of Bioshock enhances the real sense of immersion.
-
-
SebG.Dec 30, 2007Clumsy and plain, hidden behind a dull ('innovative') setting. Repetitive and utterly non-immersive, the 10-rating reviews read as if they are meant to be sarcastic. Criminally overrated. I wouldn't bother.

MikeP.Dec 27, 2007A dark and magnificent artwork which makes other games look like children's toys. The combat is a fusion of RPG style spells and gritty FPS combat, and the storyline is (apart from its miserably bad ending) mature, stylish and thought-provoking.
-
-
EdiDec 23, 2007Great atmosphere, decent story, somewhat predictable, no character choice (ie: not really an RPG) as by the end, every character will have nearly every upgrade, thus being nearly identical. "Crafting ammo" is not a real selling point, as you simply pick up crap and it makes ammo based on a few forced ammo choices. Also, ending choice is more black and white than... black and white?

MarkH.Dec 17, 2007This is a well made game will little or no replayability. You play though it once or maybe twice and then leave in on the shelf. Multiplayer could have made this a real classic.

JamesR.Dec 15, 2007Finally a FPS that isn't just killing the same old monsters in different rooms. This is a game that allows you to think and make discisions that actually effect the outcome of the game. Count one copy sold of BioShock 2.

CodyS.Dec 8, 2007I liked the game a lot. It had a great amount of atmosphere and the story telling was top notch. I wasn't particualrly happy with the 30 second FMV endings. Nevertheless, probably my favorite game of the year so far. If you liked Deus Ex, you will like this.

KieferM.Dec 6, 2007A Freakishly beautiful and twisted game with a sinister story. Theres a couple of glitches, but seeing how good this game is, i will over-look them.

TomV.Nov 22, 2007I haven't played many FPS games [since Quake 2]. But the awesome visual and audio experience new games offer got me intrigued with this one. The story line is unique and compelling and the game play is fun. If offers just enough handholding to get those new [or renewed] to FPS games up to speed. I am really having fun with this game.
-
-
TonyW.Nov 19, 2007By far the most engrossing way of storytelling in a game to date. The audio diaries are a stroke of genius. They not only deliver the story but they also make you think about the story - try to piece together all the snippets and fragments you find. Hands down the best FPS of 2007.

BrianK.Nov 18, 2007I am a huge fan of System Shock 2 and figured that BioShock was the underwater version. After playing through this (somewhat easy) game I found that the story compelled me to move on. I was very impressed with the visuals, voice acting and story line twists. I gave it a 9 because once you beat it a couple times you just feel finished. I hope for a franchise.

JoshuaMarksNov 17, 2007When i first played it i thought maybe it will get better, but it didn't. i swear i must have been playing a different game to everyone who gave it above a 4. it was just like your average FPS. It does not even have online capabilities, so compared to games like COD4 and even the only Unreal games its not worth playing at all.

SteveH.Nov 16, 2007I dont understand why this got such a high score, too much hype, too many people copying other peoples opinions. Its a good game, nice story, graphics ok, feature wise its not that great. No MP, not much into replaying this. This score needs to readjusted.

PhilH.Nov 11, 2007The console version might be all well and good, because it's practically unique for an X360 title, but on the PC Bioshock is relatively poor. Combat is slow and boring and the RPG elements are almost non-existent, so all you get is basically a very poor FPS dripping with pretension. The much vaunted characters and story are also a serious disappointment.

JamesO.Nov 5, 2007Bioshock puts many of my favourite FPS's to shame in its story, strategy and atmosphere. Its pure brilliance. The only reason I haven't given it 10 is because I believe that no game is perfect. Bioshock is as close to perfect as you can get but not quite there.

GigidiGigidiGooOct 29, 2007Well it was sorta like a new idea. . . ?? I don't know the story line, it's very, inconsistent. Enemies aren't exactly bright, and well the whole game was just, . OK. Not worth the money, .. sorry.
-
-
JamesM.Oct 28, 2007While this game is visually stunning (if you have the rig to handle high detail graphics), the gameplay is just good, not great. It is not in the same league as the Half-Life 2 series and should be metascored around 92. I gave it an 8 because no one deserves a 10 and Half-Life 2 is 9. The user rating of 8.5 is perfect in my opinion.

-
J.C.Oct 28, 2007Bioshock is one of those rare gems in the FPS world. Rich graphics and superb weapon selection/modification is bench mark for most FPSs now a days but what BioShock brings to the table is what most lack; intest, moving story dialog. The story and it's characters are amazing. From unique looks to great voice acting the game can really draw you in. I must play and instant classic in my book.
-
-
JasonR.Oct 25, 2007If video games are uniformly not considered "art," then Bioshock proves that "art" is worse off for it. Combining engrossing gameplay, peerless atmosphere, and brilliant storytelling, Bioshock sets the bar for the medium. And it sets the bar very, very high.

VinceB.Oct 15, 2007Bioshock tells a very mysterious and turbulent story that has twists and turns around many a corner, the biggest twist tying the whole story together, justifying some unavoidable linear game-play. With lush visuals and a great sound scape, Bioshock deserves a 10 by all means.

S.K.Oct 11, 2007Unfortunately, this game's user score is marred by people who can't grasp the simply astounding story and great narrative mixed with beautiful visuals and great FPS gameplay. They say nothing new, they say linear, but this game offered something more only certain gamers can understand.

GlenV.Oct 10, 2007Great graphics and a fairly interesting story but far too easy and far too much of the same thing each and every level. Nice underwater setting (really believable that a constantly leaking city is still habitable! really!). Ok - was probably dumbed down for the console boys?

RiccardoC.Oct 10, 2007not worth the hype, on a not-top compurer it won't go smooth and that will bring playng bioshock quite a pain. If u're low on money get orange box, much better.

AndrewC.Oct 9, 2007One of the best and scariest games I've ever played. A worthy successor to system shock 1 and 2. In fact, I daresay in many ways it surpasses them. The only game I've played in YEARS to make me scream out loud... not once, but twice! A must own. Period.
-
-
LIJOct 9, 2007A great single player game, however a bit short, a lack of diffrent Big Daddies and way to many vitachembers makes this game lack a bit.

S.S.Oct 8, 2007Great story line, exploring is possible (not always one path to follow), addictive game play has remapped my reflexes (right mouse button!). KatO.Oct 4, 2007It's a mediocre game. Many of the "new" features were made ages ago, and about 8/10 of the "revolutinary interactive gameplay" has already been made in Dark Messiah of Might and Magic! This game has kinda sorta some decent graphics, kinda sorta a decent storyline - but besides that? Well... I wouldn't quit my day job.

BenC.Oct 2, 2007If it feels good running all the graphics on low, then it must be good. Great fallout-esque setting, genuinely freaky setting and great storyline. Journal logs work very well at telling at giving backstory similar to the PDAs of Doom 3, but done better.

-
FotisJ.Sep 26, 2007Impressive grafics and interesting game play on the plus side, on the negative side is the fact that we play a dumbed down version of System Shock. Certainly a game you shouldn't miss but no real milestone in the genre history.

-
-
GrahamG.Sep 26, 2007This experience is over pretty quickly for a 50 buck game. BS gets repetitive very quickly and unless I'm missing something there is little point in replaying the game. On the good side; no bugs, bad side; too many ways to kill stupid enemies. The endgame punch up is obvious and unsatisfying yet the actual ending is better than most. All in all - rather disappointing.

TobyB.Sep 25, 2007The story alone makes this worth the purchase alone. The design is also exemplary, the "set peices" are outstanding, the pacing is just about right and it does, of course, look gorgeous. Also, if you're slightly feint of heart, don't play it at night with the lights off, few moments where I either jump or just felt downright spooked out. Fantastic.

A dark and astonishing masterpiece...I spend my career, and my gaming life, waiting for a moment when a game just astonishes me, when I can't believe what I'm seeing, what I'm doing. BioShock has five. [Sept 2007, p.66]
-
The hours spent playing this masterpiece were the perfect encapsulation of why videogaming is such a favourite waste of time for so many of us. Thrilling, terrifying, moving, confusing, amusing, compelling, and very very dark. BioShock isn't simply the sign of gaming realising its true cinematic potential, but one where a game straddles so many entertainment art forms so expertly that it's the best demonstration yet how flexible this medium can be. It's no longer just another shooter wrapped up in a pretty game engine, but a story that exists and unfolds inside the most convincing and elaborate and artistic game world ever conceived.
-
There is art here, despite what many would say isn't possible with games, from Roger Ebert to game designers like Hideo Kojima... BioShock stands as a monolithic example of the convergence of entertaining gameplay and an irresistibly sinister, engrossing storyline that encompasses a host of multifaceted characters. This is an essential gaming experience.
