It seems fairly clear that nobody ever gave the game a good play-through – both to see how blatantly unready the game was for retail in terms of testing, but also how bland and uninteresting the core gameplay is.
-
A completely unrecommendable mess. Even if you can get past the glaring errors, issues, bugs and problems, there is little that make the game different or more worthwhile than any other FPS ever made.
-
It's buggy, it's ill-conceived, and it's even totally unplayable on some systems in its current state. If you think Bet on Soldier is a recipe for a game worth skipping, you're exactly right.
-
Edge MagazineBet On Soldier’s non-linearity of progression, its riot-shield combat and internationally ranging scenarios suggest a game that might well have looked exciting on the drawing board. The final production, however, will leave anyone better off putting their money on the dogs. [Nov 2005, p.112]

Computer Games MagazineAt least you can thank Bet on Soldier for making it easier to go back to boycotting Starforce. [Dec p.62]
-
BoomtownThis is an ambitious title that tries to be original but fails on almost every level due to poor design. An odds-on failure.
