Despite the grim subject matter, Before I Forget isn't just about the pains of living with dementia; it's a deeply emotive tale that highlights an extraordinary life. [Issue#349, p.105]

    Before I forget
    Sadly Easy to forget
Before I forget is a 45 minute long walking simulator styled adventure game where you play as a woman with dementia, alone in your house searching for your husband, the gameplay consists of you interacting with items, hearing narration behind the items as you go through the little memory you do have left, until you’ve seen enough to progress the story.. and sadly the experience was pretty forgettable despite its great concept… the ending I saw coming from a mile away, the voice acting didn’t feel genuine, and the overall pacing was so slow that i couldnt wait for these 45 minutes to be over… which is crazy to say.. 45 minutes is such a short time… but it felt like 2 hours…
I wish this concept was expanded upon.. I wish the story telling and vocal delivery was more impactful, to make me really feel the grand reveal, but sadly It wasn’t..
Before I forget is a great idea for a story telling based game, but the overall experience is just okay, and ironically very forgettable.
    I give before I forget
    a 6/10

The game is short, you can finish in a single session in less than an hour, but every minute worthy the experience. This game expanded my little understanding on the subject (of mental illness) and gave me a better vision on how these people experience their lives. Also, made me think and enriched my empath about those people who take care and live with them. The game has a sweet narrative starred by a brilliant character which is brough to life by good voice acting. The visuals and gameplay mechanics are simple, but well done and fits the game’s purpose. I encounter some performance issues, but that is ok, nothing that compromises the gameplay experience. I just enjoyed the brief experience with “Before I Forget” and is that kind of game that made me thoughtful after I finished. Full Review »
