It starts with an excitement and fades very quickly. Sometimes you have to replay the day because it is difficult and buggy in some places. Still, the idea and atmosphere are good.

Too long for a game with boring gameplay. Story is slow to unfold. Game would be much better if condensed. While it is compared to Papers Please I think what makes Papers Please the superior game is emotionally gripping decisions and 5 hour length.

Beat Cop is a cool, pixel production based on old cop movies and serials. It has interesting gameplay, great dark humor, and entertaining characters. It's one of the best retro adventure of 2017.

+ Interesting game design concept that's fairly well executed..

Beat Cop is an intriguing and entertaining re-imagining of the police TV shows of the ’80s, with a clever design, some action and lot of choices for the player. There are always too many things to do, and too little time to do them, and as any real cop knows, boredom is part of the process.

Beat Cop’s gameplay foundations are very interesting, but the initial tension fades quickly, the game becomes repetitive and its humor is crude to the point of being embarrassing. [06/2017, p.42]

Beat Cop is less “Dirty Harry” than it is “Police Academy” or “The Naked Gun”, which makes for a good contrast with This is the Police – another “dirty cop simulator” of late. [Issue#220, p.62]
