This is a great game, it have had some launch issues but those are temporary, it's not a perfect game (hence the score of 9) but IMO it's one of the best FPS games released lately, as long as EA gets the whole server issues under control it will be an absolutely awesome game. It is more an arcade then a simulator for sure, not something for the super hardcore simulator player I think.

Although the system requirements are fairly high, anything bought/build in the last year with a decent GPU (8800 and up for nVidia users) will be fine. As for the game itself, it absolutely rocks. There are a few multiplayer connection issues at present, but they are being fixed (as it stands, all I have to do is maybe click "Join" a few times before it actually works, no big deal). Destructible environments make all the difference. If people claim MW2, they are absolutely wrong. When you never know if the building you are in is about to fall down on your head (P.S. - watch out, they do.), it forces you to move around a lot more. This is NOT a game for campers. This game has got to be one of the most realistic war games I've ever played. Although, the spawning is horrible, you have to unload a full magazine to kill some one. (If you aim for the torso.) The Controls are fairly easy, and being able to fly helicopters is truly satisfying. TLR gives this a 10/10

What it does do extremely well though is create a feeling of involvement through the sound and graphics, as well as the destroyable surroundings. It plays out well on these maps and its actually good you don't run into hopelessly huge enemy groups. Destroyability of the environment makes the game actually alot of fun and you thinking twice about using that thin wooden fence as cover for too long. You can blow huge holes into houses and even totally destroy them, killing everyone inside. Gameplay is fluid, weapons are imho balanced and there's a ton of combination of weapons, gadgets, spec items and native class abilities. There's four classes: Medic (LMG+healing), Recon (Sniping+Mortar Strikes+Detecting Enemies), Assault (Grenade Launcher/Ammo) and Engineer (Rocket Launcher/Mines/Repairing). IMHO all of those are fun to play, and if you're bored with one class weapon types, you can always pick some weapons that everyone can use, like shotguns and some rifles. All in all a very addictive title for people that like Multiplayer. Havent looked into the single player yet, but I think you shouldn't buy the game if that's the only thing you're going to play. A reboot of Battlefield 2, if you will, the multiplayer component is spectacular and absolutely will make a battlefield Veteran happy. @ Trevor who gave this game a 1.... @ Trevor, an 8600GT is high end? It was midrange 3 years ago when it came out. We're four generation ahead (in terms of video cards) ahead now. And a decent gaming PC will run you about $600, not $200. Simply make a smarter choice next time instead of getting an overkill processor with a crap video card. Also, if you were lagging, that's a network issue, not a PC issue.

  1. The new single-player mode isn’t that interesting, but the multi-player part is fantastic. With new destructable environments and new game modes Bad Company 2 is the best Battlefield game so far.
  2. Do you like first-person shooters? If the answer is yes, buy Battlefield: Bad Company 2. If there's a weakness it lies in the slightly brief single-player campaign, but the brilliant, potentially Modern Warfare 2 beating multiplayer more than picks up the slack.

Though it occasionally stumbles, there's one thing that Bad Company 2 clearly demonstrates: DICE has graduated from the, "can only do a multiplayer FPS" class, and is perfectly capable of making a great all-around game.
