Dedicated servers, and all of the other features you would expect in a PC game, are all in Bad Company 2. The fun multiplayer will have you coming back, and back, and back.

Great Game. Right now there are a lot of connectivity issues. And it takes FOREVER to load the server list (I am on a very very fast connection so it isn't me). The game is very well balanced among guns. Gun fights are very fun since you don't get shot and just die right away. I understand this isn't realistic... duh.... but war in real life isn't fun. That being said, at times it gets veryyy frustrating with how many bullets it takes to kill someone. You almost have to empty a whole clip in their general direction to kill them. Even burst firing for accuracy will mean you use most of a clip to kill anyone. Tanks and personnel carriers are very fun. Helicopters are reallly stupid in this game. Get in a helicoper, and every 50 cal from the whole map is firing, tracers blazing up at you. So entering a helicopter is a death wish. And it isn't fun to fly at all, its been really dumbed down. The gun fights are very enjoyable and the game will keep you occupied and glued to your screen for hours! Go out and support this developer, they are making the game with pc-specific options, rather than just console porting it like everyone else these days. BUY THE GAME IF YOU WANT PC GAMING TO SURVIVE. Let's just make one thing clear: if you bought/are going to buy this game for the singleplayer, you are insane. I've heard too much crap from reviewers saying that the singleplayer isn't good enough, and lowering the score for that reason alone. Nobody really cared that BF2 had a weak singleplayer when they tried out the multiplayer. The multiplayer will knock your socks off, though, and THAT is the reason why everyone should get this game (computer permiting). The multiplayer is, to say the least, intense. I basically only play Squad Deathmatch, which is 4v4v4v4, and I gotta say, it's something to shoot your enemy, who happens to be shooting at another enemy, and then kill the other enemy with a rocket launcher. All in all, this is an amazing game. The audio is top-notch (being designed by Dolby Digital), and the graphics are stunning. Sometimes there are some small graphical problems, but nothing that can't be overlooked. I don't know what the people are smoking when they say that it's just copying MW2, because it isn't. This game is better in almost every way. MW2 is going to become an alternative to BC2, and not the other way around. BC2 is following in the footsteps of the BF series: they're raising the bar once again, and I hope they will be for a long time to come. Expand

@ Trevor The 8600GT is far from being "fairly powerful" by today's standards. The recomended settings include a Quad Core CPU and a GTX 260 GPU with 512 MB VRAM. The only place where you meet that requirement is in your physical RAM. Don't downrate a game just because your 4 year old rig can't play it properly.

Trevor fail. The nvidia 8600 is not a high end graphics card. It's very poor. The minimum spec requirement is a Geforce 7800. Even though the 8600 sounds higher, it's actually a bit lower. And you say you can't play the game. What were you doing for an hour? Just staring at your desktop? It's your fault for getting a game you know your PC can't handle.

Honestly the most fun I've had playing an online shooter in a long time. This is what Battlefield 2 should have been, and it's definitely worth the cash I spent on it. (Cheaper than MW2 and way more entertaining.) The only downside I've seen is the single player, but if you're playing Battlefield by yourself you're playing the wrong games. The Controls are fairly easy, and being able to fly helicopters is truly satisfying. TLR gives this a 10/10

Best squad base modern warfare games ever. Not realistic, but not ridiculously fake. BFBC2 is what CODMW2 should have been in terms of successor upgrades and improvements. Hands down the best online FPS this decade. No further explanation necessary, just buy it already. @ Trevor, an 8600GT is high end? It was midrange 3 years ago when it came out. We're four generation ahead (in terms of video cards) ahead now. And a decent gaming PC will run you about $600, not $200. Simply make a smarter choice next time instead of getting an overkill processor with a crap video card. Also, if you were lagging, that's a network issue, not a PC issue.

I would have given it a 9 because of the unfortunately glitch in single player mode where your ai buddies just stand around for no reason instead of following or continuing on until you hit the next checkpoint that triggers them to warp to you and the cutscene plays... It's pretty annoying because it happens kind of a lot. If my rating was just based on the single player I'd I would have given it a 9 because of the unfortunately glitch in single player mode where your ai buddies just stand around for no reason instead of following or continuing on until you hit the next checkpoint that triggers them to warp to you and the cutscene plays... It's pretty annoying because it happens kind of a lot. If my rating was just based on the single player I'd have to say 7 just because of that bug because it's pretty game breaking sometimes. For example, I'm stuck in one of the latter missions because though all the enemies are dead in an area it won't trigger my team or the game to continue so that I can walk down into this valley instead it keeps telling me I can't go that way and I'm stuck. Blech... Anywayz, the multiplayer is where this game shines. First off... this isn't a crap console port. That alone means that us PC gamers can fully enjoy all that our gaming rigs can manage. We spend a healthy wad of cash to keep our rigs up to snuff I'm sick and tired of having a rig that has to puke out a console port at half the graphics beauty/physics/gaming ai and depth of environment (Metro2033) that it is capable because ghetto consoles can't hack it. The gameplay is awesome - beautiful control, realism, DEDICATED servers... imagine that... dedicated servers unlike CODMW2 hello? This game is obviously not built to cater to crappy consoles and then ported to PCs but the other way around as it should be... and even if it wasn't designed with PC as priority it sure as heck seems like it and what you have is genius gameplay where if you have the rig you can have a graphical masterpiece where AI is SMART and you can see detailed models for miles... rock and debris from explosions falling to your feet and sound changes that reflect your environment perfectly. If you have less of a machine you can scale back on graphics and it's still beautiful - they've really perfected the scaling ability so that you still have a wonderful looking, smart ai having wicked fun game. It's Battlefield at its best. A really well-done game. Should seriously start playing this over CODMW2 - you won't regret it. I don't understand how mass effect 2 can have a higher rating... except that it must be consolers voting more or that the editors that vote are in the console gaming industry's pocket because this is a better game. Less movies and more playing. Seriously... can we get out of the console gaming industry's pocket to give appropriate reviews because I'm tired of relying on the editors' votes to find that I'm stuck with yet another lackluster crap console port. My PC was built with hard earned money - Bad Company 2 delivers so that it is well-worth it. Thank you DICE! Expand

Pros: BF BC2 is absolutely astonishing in almost all aspects. The graphics are superb, gameplay is fair and exciting, the environments are vast and well designed, single player is a blast, and online play is addicting and fun! Exceeds COD and my exceptions

Cons: The Team-Play factor is reduced in comparison to BF2. The game seems to be dumbed down a bit in regards to control and gameplay

Cons: The Team-Play factor is reduced in comparison to BF2. The game seems to be dumbed down a bit in regards to control and gameplay commands but for anyone who hasn't played BF2 that shouldn't be an issue. Also, this game is very demanding on your PC.

Summary: Amazing game and certainly one of the best current multiplayer FPS games released. Lacking some of the Pro's from past BF games but makes it up for it in other areas. If you have the money and good enough PC buy this game. If you are debating between this and COD...This wins hands-down. Very well developed game.

*NOTE* Bare in mind that a majority of the bad ratings that are holding this game back are because the user did not have a computer that could handle the game...For anyone giving this game a bad review because there computer can't handle the game is utterly moronic. I'd rather have a good quality game rather one trimmed down just so people with out-dated computers can play. To even review game that you haven't even played is pointless...So I recommend everyone just ignore those comments and just make sure your system meets the recommended requirements.

Best title of the Battlefield series, with destructible environment and incredibly addicting multiplayer.
The single player is good but its only 10% of the fun this game has to offer.

This game is a huge amount of fun at a good price. It is cheap, enjoyable and they are still updating it and fixing bugs (absolute opposite of the cod series). I enjoyed the campaign alot, but the multiplayer is definately the strong point. Great fun to play with friends as you can all be in a squad and drive like lunatics on quad bikes.

Easily one of the best shooters ever. I like how you can cripple entire buildings so they crumble down on your enemies. One of my favorite moves...

Weapons selection and a great leveling system with weapons upgrades keep you playing.

I cannot wait for Battlefield 3. I do miss the Commander mode and I do miss bigger maps and flying jets. I hope in the next BF game that these things come back. This is probably the best multilayer FPS game in 2010. The multilayer is extremely addicting and would guarantee at least 100 hours (or 2 to 3 months) of intense 'fun'. This game might seem like another COD/CS shooter, but the large maps and vehicles makes it far superior than the usual death-match shooters. I strongly recommend it for $20 when it is on sale. ....However......

I don't play this game anymore because the multilayer lags, rubber-bands, stutter and freezes like crazy. Any servers that is not 100 miles near you will lag. Any system that is not built with modern (2011) Graphics card and a quad core CPU will lag/stutter. My PhenomX4 940, 4Gb ram, ATI 4850 and 7Mbit connection stutters like crazy online (optimization and overclocking are useless for BC2, forget about it) . NO dedicated servers...this means that you are stuck with cheap data center servers that are not equipped to serve 32 players...And you Can't host a LAN game. NO custom maps: playing the same maps over and over again gets boring real fast. I really tried to enjoy this game...but the bugs, glitches and all sorts of performance issues just got so frustrating that I uninstalling it...

BFBC2 is one of the most memorable FPS I have ever played in 2010. unfortunately, the multilayer is practically unplayable unless you're running it on a exotic gaming rig.

The gameplay is perfect in my opinion. I am definitely a fan of realism as opposed to alien-shooters like Crysis. It makes it much more emotional and true to life. The vehicles in the game are especially useful and fun, and each one can counter another. Such as: tanks can shoot down helicopters, to counter the fact that each helicopter can have two mini-gunners to mow down enemies that are afoot. I can't say much about campaign mode because I didn't play all the way through it. Expand

This game may have some silly graphical nonsense, but the surprising complexity of each round is absolutely outstanding and it never, ever gets old. The real adrenaline you feel escaping the building you were once sure was safe as it starts to crumble around you, the satisfaction of hopping on to an anti-air minigun and mowing down a dozen ground units, the beauty of guiding that AT4 guided missile into that tricky helicopter pilot's ride, the thrill of turning that ATV into a guided missile with some C4, the ego-boosting traps you can set with C4 around the other team's objectives, the satisfying clang of firing a shotgun slug into a guy's face, and a damn near infinite supply of other satisfying situations make this game unparalleled with modern multiplayer shooters. It's clear that DICE is one of the few great companies that still know how to make a great FPS game. I can not wait to see what they are able to do with the jaw-dropping-ly beautiful BF3. Expand

  1. The new single-player mode isn’t that interesting, but the multi-player part is fantastic. With new destructable environments and new game modes Bad Company 2 is the best Battlefield game so far.
  2. Do you like first-person shooters? If the answer is yes, buy Battlefield: Bad Company 2. If there's a weakness it lies in the slightly brief single-player campaign, but the brilliant, potentially Modern Warfare 2 beating multiplayer more than picks up the slack.

Though it occasionally stumbles, there's one thing that Bad Company 2 clearly demonstrates: DICE has graduated from the, "can only do a multiplayer FPS" class, and is perfectly capable of making a great all-around game.
