Nothing is perfect. But this game is close to perfect in Multiplayer. A lot of quality seen in different aspects. Many weapons, combinations and setups to chose in-between.

They should nerf the bazookas (Carl Gustav & RPG-7). Those dealing damage on infantry and killing them with 1 shot. That should be impossible. A little delay on all servers. All in all, nice flow, fantastic

Mostly, negative comments on this game are from those who are disappointed with the single player mode (although many of them don't see any harm to make comments about a game they didn't buy, didn't installed one single patch). Bu it's unfair i think. DICE was never assertive about the single player mode. This is a game which shines with its multiplayer mode, and i think, this is the greatest FPS multiplayer game of all times.

Nowadays, i see many people around which are amused with the destruction engine and the sounds and the animations of the Battlefield 3 trailers. They don't even know that lots of content like these exists in Bad Company 2. Maybe this is the weak point of this game. ADVERTISEMENT! Even local newspapers were mentioning about Black Ops when it came out.

Anyway, this is the greatest FPS Multiplayer of all times. "Fun" factor is incredible. Millions of gamers didn't even try this game -will never try probably-, but it's loyal players know that they witnessed the biggest fun of a video game.

But, as in everything, there are some flaws.Single player is fun, but repetitive. Most of the missions are "Go here, kill these guys, go there kill some more guys" which is fine, if you like that kind of thing. You may also have graphical issues if your playing on a lower end PC. However, the afore mentioned destruction completely makes up for these flaws. And whats better, it carries over to multiplayer. Yep, thats right, no more getting raped by noobs hiding behind walls with knifes. You can just make that wall disappear. Building with a sniper? C4. Tank raping your team? C4. C4 is the solution to all problems in this game. And its damn fun. Vehicles are balanced, meaning that if the opposing team gets a helo, it only takes about three people to take it down. Which brings us to the thing that sets Bad Company 2 apart from most modern shooters. Teamwork. Yes, you have to cooperate with your team to win. Going lone wolf is also completely ineffective. You will need to help you team to win. You can spot enemies, rain hell down on the enemy base with a tank, suppressing them until your team can destroy the objective. This game is much more than another CoD clone. Expand

I've been playing this game for years. I just recently picked it back up after upgrading my system to modern standards. Obviously, it rips through this game like a beast, though DX10 is still inappropriately taxing. Whatever, it doesn't matter. Anyway, you simply won't find a multiplayer experience better than this one. I think BC2 is better than both BF3 and BF4. To be fair, EA deleted my BF3 account because it had a different screen name than my BC2 account. There was no appearance of impropriety on my part - they just wanted me to have only one PC EA account. They essentially wiped over a year of BF3 progress, so I stopped playing the game. That likely colored my opinion of BF3.

But I digress...BC2 is awesome. The game control feels a lot better than that presented in both BF3 and BF4. In the latter two, I always felt like my character was a little drunk or high or something. He seemed to lag when aiming down the sights, and pretty much everything else for that matter. The squad system is great, and is pretty identical to that in BF3/4. The weapon upgrade system is great. It gets pretty tough to get promotions once you get into 30s, however, that might be my fault.

The graphics and sound are great. The maps are huge. Hit detection is top notch. Even when you feel like the odds are totally stacked against your team and you scarcely stay alive for more than 10 seconds, there's always another angle or kit to play that will provide you the edge you need to not only survive, but thrive. I highly recommend this game to any person who's a fan of FPS multiplayer games.

The exception is the Recon (Sniper) class. Due to Gravity effecting every projectile the most commonly played class is recon. 80% of your teams failures are due to too many recons who cant it the red on a barn. The only downfall that denies the game a perfect 10, is its flaky cloud implementation. Occasionally, your stats (and thus your available equipment) aren't correctly downloaded from the cloud, and sometimes a lost connection to EA's authentication servers will drop you out of a battle, losing you whatever points you've racked up.

Totally worth the money, this is the thinking man's Call of Duty. If you grew up on Counter-Strike and have a modern gaming computer, this is a no-brainer.

The people who gave this game a 0 are just CoD fanboys. This game immerses you in the battle, to the fullest extent. tactical thinking is required, not just fast reflexes (unlike SOME contemporary InfinityWard titles). if you stop shooting your extremely realistic gun for just a few seconds and look forward and up at the sky for a little bit, you see what real soldiers see: mortar shells falling from the sky, anti-aircraft fire being thrown back up at the sky, helicopters demolishing enemy infantry and armor, or ironically being shot down by that same infantry and armor. snipers are laying down suppressing fire on the enemy team, vehicles and helicopters are skirmishing with each other or moving towards new targets. stray shots, from rifle or cannon, are flying around, hitting whatever they can find. after staring at such destruction and war with awe, your senses come flying back to you and you immediately take cover, supporting your teammates in their attempt to move forward on the front, or moving forward yourself. you might be repairing a tank, or driving one. you could be laying down fire from a Blackhawk helicopter's mounted miniguns, or shooting down that same helicopter in a gunship. you might be calling in a mortar strike, skirmishing with an enemy squad, outnumbered 4 to 1, or attempting to take out a hidden enemy sniper in a battle of not only aim, but of wits. you could be advancing in a quad bike, or suppressing enemies with a Humvee's 50. cal. i give it a 9 because EA couldn't maintain the servers for a full week to save their life, and the singleplayer campaign. is a pile of sh*t. But its cost today of roughly 20 bucks on Steam makes it an ENORMOUSLY good purchase idea. If you are wondering if you should get it or get MW3, GET THIS GAME! MW3 is a royally screwed piece of crap compared to this game. at one-third the price of MW3, its the deal of a lifetime. i would buy this game for $70. Expand

You complain about "unloading a whole clip and not killing them, then they turn around and kill you"... Dont you think if they can hit you that maybe you just suck lol. The engine is beautiful! Graphics look 100x better than MW2 or Black Ops and if you can run it, upgrade your POS 8600. Are you serious? Most of the issues people are complaining about (disconnections, graphics, crashes, etc) are all things related to your PC, not the game. For those of us who actually know how to optimize settings and make our integrated sound card work on Windows 7 there are no crashes, great sound, great graphics, and fun game play. And no controller and Joystick support?!? LOL! Play with a mouse/keyboard like a man or you will get dominated. If you are going to play with a controller than why dont you have an xbox? And for all the b*tches who complain about the weapon and gadget unlocks. Are you serious? Every game known to man gives you the sh*t first and you get better as you play. When your a newb, you die... As you play and get better you dont. Thats like whining because you fell of your bike the first time you tried to ride it. Grow up. Everything takes practice. If I used all the very first guns of this game and no unlocks, I would still kick your a**. Dont believe the haters, the fan boys, and the morons. This game is a solid shooter with a level of intensity you cant get anywhere else. When the side of the building you are hiding in gets blown off by a tank or apache and you have to run for your life before the building collapses! Thats fun, not getting knife raped by people over and over with overpowered "perks" of other games. Oh and also, If you have ever used a knife or a gun for that matter, you dont ALWAYS hit what you are aiming at. If you miss, reload and try again. Welcome to reality. To summarize: BF:BC 2 is a console port yes, so there are some things that make it not as good as the other BF games. But most of the things people are complaining about are because they dont know what they are doing or they are 10. Amazing game, very fun, very good looking, and you cant touch leveling the entire battlefield and having tanks and BMP's roll up on you. This game is what its supposed to be, exciting and functional. Yes the multiplayer outshines the single player and was probably intended to do so.there has been a few glitches online with minor things and like any game it does have it's flaws, like when you are revived by a medic, sometimes it's all too often easy to get killed instantly, which battlefield 3 improves on and will give the dead player the option to be resuscitated or not. grab yerself some mates, (if u have some) get yerself a squad and start playing like a real team. The destruction is very well done, it looks great! There are a lot of vehicles to drive the other faction has completely different designs for the vehicles. The game play is great for a FPS shooter. Everyone is balanced, even a level 50 is easy to kill because they are not overpowered. The only things they get is new guns and items which only help a little bit. The spawning is great, you rarely get spawn camped unlike Call Of Duty where you sit and get spawn killed. The squad is fun and great, playing with friends or public is extremely fun, conquering flags, killing players, shooting vehicles down, riding tanks, flying helicopters. It's so much fun! The destruction: If you shoot a building with a rank or shoot RPGs, rockets, grenade launchers, etc it will break windows, doors, fences, objects, and blow holes into the building, after the building has enough damage, it falls Vehicles also have parts to come off if hit in certain spots, such as the tank. When the tank is hit on the side, the armor plating falls off, if hit in the back, the parts on the rear parts fall off, etc. All vehicles are balanced, the 4x4 is fast but weak, the jeep is useful for traveling and shooting down helicopters and shooting players quickly and running them over, a tank is useful for destroying buildings and killing players, helicopters are good against tanks and are good for destroying players and buildings. There are also stationary weapons and sea vehicles that add on to the wonderful experience. Almost everything about this game is good. The 1 element that is missing though is customization, you can't change your color, you can't select your face or helment or armor or anything like that, although all characters look different. Overall I give it a 9, the game is very close to perfect. Expand

Team play is the best I have ever found. 32 players are enough to fill a battlefield but teams are not too large so you can get to know the players.

Solid core gameplay and servers with rules that prevent annoying kid's tactics (like way too many recons, camping and base-raping) provide awesome gameplay experience. Not to mention well balanced weapons and vehicles.
Graphics are good, not amazing (textures are rather low-res), and yet you'll have so much fun playing it you wouldn't notice.
Let's hope next BF is BC3...
of course this is a MULTIPLAYER review. Singleplayer was boring and the story is messy and confusing. Got bored after 2 hours (and I'm rather patient.)

bottom line worth those 30$. Go buy it.

And, what I mean by that is that the destructibility in this game is incredibly realistic and chaotic, making the multiplayer matches intense and fun. And, it's weird, but I play this game more than I play Battlefield 4, because, even though Battlefield 4 is fun, it just lacks an aspect that BC2 has, and that is immersion. Whenever I'm playing BF BC2, I always feel like I'm in the battlefield. The soldier that you control actually has weight and I dare say that the sound design in this game is better than BF4's one. And, of course, the shooting is great and the weapons are very well designed. Also, the maps are beautifully designed too, and they are really fitting for epic gunfights. The vehicles are varied and very useful for all the classes. And, unlike BF3 and BF4, this game features an actual organic single-player that's really interesting, even though it's definitely not perfect. Do I recommend it nowdays? Yes... and no. It has a great single-player, but the multiplayer isn't the most populated and is slightly dead, to say at least, even though there are hundreds of people playing the game. But hundreds isn't enough. It's slower paced than future BF titles but is still fast enough to keep your attention.

Singeplayer: It's not as good as BC1 but much better than any other BF singleplayer. The plot is easy to follow, creative, and well written.

Map design: they were designed exclusively for Rush which made most of them not very good experiences on conquest. The theme chosen for the maps were excellent and were used again for future maps in sequent titles.

Core gameplay: classes were much more different than before but were very balanced because each had notable strengths and weaknesses. The vehicle-infantry balance was good despite a common misconception of overpowered attack choppers.

Pitfalls: certain multiplayer mechanics are unbalanced (eg. Gustav + Explosive perk, Circle strafing choppers), but it's the most fun I had with a BF game. I've played it as recently as 2017 and had quite a bit of fun, but the servers are mostly dead by now.

Squads are an excellent feature as well: when you die you have the option of spawning directly behind any one of your squadmates. Because of this, battles around capture points can get really messy as squads get decimated but then respawn around the survivor. I can recall many times when it seems like an endless flow of your guys and their guys are running around a single capture point. It gets really fun. However, this excellent gameplay is marred by some of the most buggy login systems ever. You have to make an EA account to play online (which is linked to your CD key to prevent key sharing) but EA's servers cannot support the server load that Bad Company 2 is obviously having. I spent so much time trying to fix the "Cannot log in" errors and the "Your account is already logged in" errors that the would-be 10/10 review is reduced to 8/10. All in all: Go for this game for the multiplayer gameplay. It's fantastically frantic and fun, typical Battlefield style, but a buggy login system takes away a lot- if you're willing to brave it, you will be rewarded. Expand

As much as i disliked MW2 and the "you will walk down this path" game play i feel that MW2 does the single player better than BC2. Infact BC2 plays more like Frontlines Fuel of War, which isn't too bad as i really enjoyed that game, but then i only payed £5 for that game. That's not to mention occasional graphical glitches, sound glitches, random deaths from mortars as you run for the canal on one level. It's too short as well. No, the multiplayer is where this game excels. Think BF2 with great graphics and effects but without the pot luck aiming system. The rolling map design, where new areas open as you achieve objectives is inspired. The game play is fluid, fun and quite tense at times. It's very enjoyable, apart from the disconnects just as you hit your best kill streak!!!. Still i'm sure that will be fixed soon lol. I would recommend this game on multiplayer only. I would have preferred it if they had modelled the single player on BF2 as well, with bots replacing people on an essentially multi player experience. If they had done that it would have been a 10. As it is the Multiplayer is designed by experts, the Single player by rookies. Very disappointing. Single player = 5, Multiplayer = 10. Expand

If you stay put anywhere, you will get blown up or shot. The game pace is pretty good. My only major gripe is the spawn points. If you choose to randomly spawned you will often end up directly in front of someone, only to die and wait another 10 seconds to join again. This can happen many times in a row. It also seems like they see you before you spawn, like there's a delay between when you appear and when you can move.

That being said, I only play squad deathmatch. I've tried the other gametypes, where you have to take and control objectives. The matches are extremely one-sided. You will get killed over and over and over again. It might be fun to play them with a buddy, but it's just not for me.

Now here's the Major negative. The game says it's XP compatible. What they don't say is that it doesn't work on XP-64 bit. It took a few hours of digging through forums before I found this out. It doesn't say anywhere that XP-64 is not supported when you go to buy the game. That is false advertising and should not be tolerated by the gaming community. It isn't even legal. I don't know how they get away with that.

A decent single player game, but a little on the short side and not much plot. Multiplayer is a blast; a superb alternative to Black Ops, although you will have to spend a significant amount of time leveling up before you can be anywhere close to competitive. The building destruction physics is what really stands out the most to me.

As far as gameplay is concerned, not much has changed since Battlefield 2 - why fix what ain't broken. There is a new game mode (as far as I know at least) called rush, which makes for a fun, fast paced round. The levelling up system is well thought out, you gain unlocks as you progress, yet none of these perks or weapons seem to be overpowered or game changing, a lowly private shouldn't find themselves particularly handicapped by their limited arsenal. There are two problems I have with this game, albeit minor ones. First, you can no longer lie down (particularly annoying when one of the weapons tells you how well it works when prone). The second problem was the dumbed down orders/squad commands system. All 'socialisation' is done with one button, you can spot, tell people to attack or defend etc. however you do not get to choose which. If you want to spot a man near an objective the chances are that you will just tell people, "hey, look thereâ Expand

The competitive multiplayer is unsurprising good, given DICE's history with the Battlefield series.

The multiplayer shines in this game, it only has two modes which is pretty disappointing but it's enough to get you wrapped up in this game for a couple weeks, the graphics are okay, nothing really special at all, destruction is a nice addition, and it's fun to play around with (although some indestructible objects are still there). Now as for online balancing, their is none, so get prepared to get demolished if your facing a stacked team of level 50's and clans while your stuck with moderate levels and lower levels, also, their are some camping spots which are nearly impossible to get to without getting killed by the camper per say. Other than that, this game is very fun, and i recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fun multiplayer experience. Final Notes: Very fun game, should be played in coordination with teammates in order to secure a winning streak and get points.

Let me start off by saying that after all these years, I still love to play Battlefield 2 because of its Squad/Commander-System. I find the mixture of FPS action and tactical strategy appealing. Sometimes, though, it felt too sturdy: Players would not play by the "rules", abide to orders (whether I was commander, squad leader or simply a soldier), and generally would only play the "lone wolf". This is what made me stop playing the game for quite many times. I wished for a Battlefield which largely keeps this system while tweaking it towards dynamics and speed, so it can please both the fast shooters as well as the more tactical thinkers (without the extreme realism of, say, ArmA2). Also, I wanted to play an entertaining, simple FPS single player campaign, which is more or less neglectable tough. Main thing is an entertaining MP experience.
What can I say; Battlefield: Bad Company 2 delivers on all levels for me.
The single player (which I have not yet concluded) is fun, challenging at times, and the personal dynamics in B Company add a Hollywood-like, cool touch to it ("Why do you say Fiddy Cent, instead of just Fifty Cent?"). The multiplayer is solid, with fluent gameplay, interesting maps, as well as a rewarding rank/equipment system, which is well balanced: Players on lower or even starter ranks don't get blasted into oblivion fifty times in a row simply because more experienced players have the bigger guns. The game features the vehicle team-play I loved in BF2, and reduces the squad system to a simple, yet effective respawn-point-and-communication function. While I miss the commander role to a certain extent, I dislike the (apparent) missing of a proper communications system such as BF2 had it. Press Q to spot an enemy or give orders is simply not enough for me. Who didn't love the frantic repeated "Bail Out!" after a vehicle had been hit? I understand that the game's increased speed makes it hard to deliver spot-on comm to teammates without getting killed all the time, but still, it could've been a plus.
Overall, an outstanding game, which is sure to keep me entertained for quite some time. If you're fed up with the always recurring Modern Warfare MP system, give BF:BC2 a try, you won't be disappointed - especially not if you love BF2 just like I do.

What really caught me, however, was the multiplayer. I've been playing some CS and CoD before this, but never really enjoyed their cramped gameplay, but the open areas and vehicle battles was a good change. The graphics are good, most of the maps are OK although some of the Rush maps seem to have been poorly designed as there are alot of chokepoints were you'll quickly loose if you're team is slow moving. The squad gameplay is a nice addition, which is even better if you play with friends and can infiltrate enemy spawns just to wait for them to spawn on you and then make your move together. Most of the maps are also open enough to let you find your own way, not just simply alley A or B to reach C and you know there'll be someone with either a machinegun or a sniper rifle aiming down that killzone. If you enjoy playing multiplayer FPS games over large maps this is definitely a game you shouldn't miss out on! Expand

The multiplayer is not too dissimilar to Bad Company, albeit a few minor improvements and some more game modes. It's a lot easier to find action now even on 8 player servers in Squad Deathmatch. Impressive, considering the scale of the maps. You'd almost be lucky to get away with not being spawn killed. I'm still personally divided over the Battlefield concept. On one hand, the graphics, big maps, vehicles, sense of teamwork and simulating realism make every kill satisfying, every win earnt, every point of XP rewarding. But on the other hand, I rarely die in a gun-on-gun firefight knowing that I died because I deserved it- because a mistake was made. Deaths feel so random due to the large maps and the nature of spawn points. That said, the game has a strange, addicting allure to it. The class-based multiplayer and progression/unlock system does make it a bit unfair on new players who don't have all the best weaponry and upgrades, but the game is still playable and balanced for the most part. This game does what many people want in an FPS- as close to realism as possible but without making the game unplayable. For that, it deserves credit. As for the campaign, it is very much similar to Bad Company 1 but with less emphasis on large-scale battles and more focused on variety of environments. The campaign is fairly linear, lacking ambition and the plot is almost non-existent. Overall, if you can't afford a supercomputer to run Battlefield 3 but want something just like it, you can't go wrong with BC2. There are lots of servers and people playing it, and the campaign isn't great but worth playing if you're bored. You just have to be patient with the multiplayer to start enjoying it. The multiplayer makes use of rewarding you for staying loyal to one of four classes, with upgrades and some iteration of perks. While it's still easy to understand what you're doing in the battlefield, the game could do a better job of explaining the unlock progression. Perhaps Bad Company 2's greatest achievement is its uncomprimising combination of stunning graphics, wide variety of maps and modes and gives the player incentive to play to unlock new gear and rank up. The game is rewarding, yet for such a demandingly hardcore and realistic shooter, it's remarkable that one can enjoy this game after a short period of game time online. By its very nature, teamwork is promoted and feels satisfying. The title of the game is Battlefield, yet you can take a break from long-range, vehicular combat in Rush and engage in more hectic, seemingly arena-based mix of free-for-all with teams in Squad Deathmatch. Whatever the case, Bad Company 2 does nearly everything well. Certainly it differentiates itself from other shooters but still implements some of the conventions of modern shooters without losing its identity. Expand

The multiplayer is limited to 32 players, which is a little disappointing, but the maps are still quite large and the vehicle battles feel gritty and intense. The weapons feel much more punchy than BF2, even it the amount of recoil can sometimes be off-putting to my enjoyment, especially as longer ranges. The guns are fairly well balanced, although the tendency for everyone else to rush off with a sniper rifle remains; leaving you with the sole responsibility of actually doing the work. Another gripe I have is that the vehicles handle extremely badly and are frustrating to control; often flipping over if you so much as lean it too far. 1. The new single-player mode isn’t that interesting, but the multi-player part is fantastic. With new destructable environments and new game modes Bad Company 2 is the best Battlefield game so far.
  2. Do you like first-person shooters? If the answer is yes, buy Battlefield: Bad Company 2. If there's a weakness it lies in the slightly brief single-player campaign, but the brilliant, potentially Modern Warfare 2 beating multiplayer more than picks up the slack.

Though it occasionally stumbles, there's one thing that Bad Company 2 clearly demonstrates: DICE has graduated from the, "can only do a multiplayer FPS" class, and is perfectly capable of making a great all-around game.
