Im a big fan of all Battlefield series and this one has not disappointed me. It is a fresh change to BC2, with new well made environments.
Gameplay is exactly like BC2 but the lack of scopes in most weapons makes combat distances shorter.
    CONS
Only five maps and not much choice of weapons and vehicles as opposed to BF Vietnam.
Hopefully they'll make more than the 5 existing maps.

I always loved the BFBC series (even though there is only 2) but I was a little disappointed with the lack of humor in the second one but this DLC redeems it with nice new fresh weapons, new maps, and vehicles. As the BFBC franchise moves on I believe this will be remembered as the best DLC of the games.

One of the reasons I decided to do this was because I simply got bored of MW2 and BO, and with MW2 riddled with hackers and aim-botters and BO lag/stutter issues, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with Bad Company 2. To keep this short, BC2 blew my socks off, and I haven't played any of the CoD games since. The graphics looks stunning compared to either MW2 or BO, and it run smoothly on my machine. I picked up the Vietnam DLC a few days ago, and I was, and still am, extremely impressed and the work put EA/DICE has put into this expansion. Where CoD DLCs are usually recycled maps from older versions with a dab of a few new maps here and there, this expansion transforms the whole game and experience of Bad Company 2. The maps looks amazing and it retains the extraordinary audio fullness of Bad Company 2 (BO guns sound like toys). The maps immerses the player into the Vietnam War setting, which includes great camouflage environments, and don't get me started on the music selection (can't get the songs out of my head!). For a $15 DLC, this is well worth the money, as it could easily be a standalone game. But one has to wonder where EA/DICE got the whole Vietnam era theme from... Expand

Vietnam has an intense atmosphere with beautiful maps, vehicles and weapons. The maps are very sniper friendly, so expect to have some trouble with pushing forward, the maps are also quite linear, since you get a warning really quickly if you try to move outside of the main combat area, so there are no ways to flank/ambush. The music is also a huge plus! It's a game inside a game!

Perhaps it's blind fanboyism at work since Bad Company 2 is indeed a great game. The atmosphere in the game is very nice and the new Huey helicopters are good fun and most of the texture work, models, and sounds are great. The maps generally look nice but could use some tweaking for a better balance not that original BC2 had all perfectly balanced maps (a couple are quite bad balance wise), but overall the Vietnam maps aren't a con. The real issue is the tweaks they've made to the general gameplay/balance of the game. The balance just feels awkward, it's similar to a middle ground between normal and hardcore mode in regular Bad Company 2 damage wise; this doesn't sound too bad (maybe even good) but it's the weapon accuracy that makes it a problem. For some reason all the weapons in this DLC are ridiculously accurate which is rather problematic in an open game where enemies and allies drop so fast from a couple bullets especially in rush. The MAC10 is literally more accurate than most of guns in BC2 which just seems wrong and the recoil is almost non-existent. The machineguns are more accurate than the assault rifles which also seems odd. I don't mind accurate weapons typically, but why are almost all the weapons in this DLC more accurate than any of their modern counter-parts? Regardless of the reasoning it doesn't work well for the gameplay and ends in far more frustration than the enjoyable moments that original Bad Company 2 readily supplies. If you do in fact enjoy extremely accurate weaponry and don't mind getting randomly killed from across the map with an automatic pistol then this shouldn't be an issue but for me personally it is. Tanks are much less useful which is acceptable considering the Vietnam terrain isn't suited for armored combat but the helicopters are much more potent than in the original, which is nice because I thought the air support was far under played and it's one of the welcomed changes. On a last note the flamethrower is very weak overall due to it's extremely short range and that is indeed rather disappointing (I've even been knifed while durrrflaming someone in the face with it). All said and done with balancing tweaking I think the DLC could be at least equivalent of the original game in quality but for now it's sub-par. I only recommend this DLC if either what was said above sounds fine to you or if you're a hardcore BC2 fan and need another injection. Expand

The game is fairly well done overall, however it is nothing more than a re-release of "Battlefield: Vietnam" as it is the same game with updated graphcis and destructible buildings and unfortunately feels like not much more than a skins mod for the original Bad Company 2. The maps are well thought out, the combat is fast paced but still well balanced, e.g. a sniper isn't penalised for being sneaky/camping, the assault class isn't easily picked off by snipers, etc. The only gripe I have with the game engine is the helicopter, as yet again with the battlefield series, it lacks realism, its not hard to keep in the air (minus the fact that people will be shooting at you), it is however hard to be deadly on a long term basis. After playing a few team games I saw the helicopter as nothing more than a diversion for the enemy on the ground to be unnecessarily worried about and shoot at while the rest of your teammates on the ground sneak past/knock them off. Sad to say that the "Desert Combat" MOD for the original "Battlefield: 1942" was the last in the Battlefield series to have a realistic approach to the helicopters, they took time to tame, but were absolutely lethal in the hands of a veteran. All in all Vietnam is worth a purchase....if it's on sale...maybe....if you're in the mood, but in all seriousness don't expect anything more than the original "Battlefield: Vietnam". Expand

Compared to BFBC2... it's a pile of **** Four(4!) maps, few vehicles and american soldiers with AK-47s... yeah... Worst thing is that maps are grenadefests (only one, a village map is very good). They don't make use of destruction mechanism at all, and Vietnam is just utterly boring. Can't recommend, sorry DICE, next time try harder.

Also, instead of retarded future conflict in BC2, you

Also, instead of retarded future conflict in BC2, you should have made a single player about vietnam. That'd be awesome. But no, you have to compete with Call of Duty. meh.

One of the best Games of the Series and a true cornerstone to the Battlefield Franchise! Buy!

This is still the best DLC in franchise history. An entire era with five new maps, new vehicles, and new weapons made this DLC worth more than its price. As of 2020, BC2's Vietnam DLC is not active enough to warrant a purchase.

Not as good as Battlefield Vietnam, but the new physics are superb. Love the flamethrower...

Besides the general look of the game graphics, sounds, and whatnot. the game play falls short from the previous titles. played Bad company 2 for 500+ hours, BF3 for 700 hours, and this game for 80 hours and I'm already sick of it. Multiplayer is rage inducing experience nothing will works out the way you think it would. spawn camping seems easier on this one than other ones, and the maps…Besides the general look of the game graphics, sounds, and whatnot. the game play falls short from the previous titles. played Bad company 2 for 500+ hours, BF3 for 700 hours, and this game for 80 hours and I'm already sick of it. Visceral game changer that provides almost too much bang for 15.8591 bucks. No innovations that further the title, though. [Mar 2011, p.104]
