But the game runs clean and looks nice enough in action. For a budget price, you could do worse. Yeah, it’s not a ringing endorsement, nor is it meant to be.
  2. Nice for beginners, but veterans should probably pass on this one.
  3. Battle for Europe will sap any enthusiasm that you have for the game from the very beginning and won’t do anything to generate any fun or excitement if for some reason you decide to stick with it. Look for your flight thrills elsewhere.
  4. The flight controls, overall, on the keyboard were solid enough, but as I’ve stated a few times before, the game may just not be challenging enough for flight veterans.

Unfortunately, many of the things you'd expect to matter in an arcade flying game simply don't apply here.
  6. A big disappointment for me. The control was unreliable and I could not configure it to my liking. In addition, a game of this type should be easy to pick up and fun to play. Instead, Battle of Europe is uninspiring, boring and ultimately very frustrating at times.

Repetitive action and a poor engine ground this flyboy. [July 2006, p.102]

The ride is quite fleeting, however, and most experienced PC prop-jocks will whip through Battle of Europe in a single afternoon. [Aug 2006, p.90]

This isn't an awful game, but it is an unnecessary one: "Secret Weapons over Normandy" and "Heroes of the Pacific" have full air superiority in this sector. [Aug 2006, p.91]

Typography aside, Battle of Europe is an enjoyable game that simply fails to distinguish itself as a particularly great one. [Oct 2006, p.65]
  11. I recommend this game only with the caveat that you find it available at a budgeted price point.
