    A very good game, but with far too many bugs, some of which are progression-blocking. Most insultingly, WB Montréal has announced they won't patch the game

    Despite more negative opinions about the game than other games in the series, I found it to be a success. Gameplay and story were not bad at all.

    Amazing prequel to the critically acclaimed Arkham Asylum.

    The game's story perfectly captures the relationship dynamic between Batman and the Joker. The gameplay is fun and additional gadgets keep the puzzles and combat interesting, although at one point for me it started to become a bit overwhelming, but I guess the main problem in my case was that I had big breaks between plays.    Amazing prequel to the critically acclaimed Arkham Asylum.

    The game's story perfectly captures the relationship dynamic between Batman and the Joker.

    Had the previous entries in the Arkham series not set the bar so high, this game would be much more well received. The story is intriguing, but at the end of the day, the change in voice actors tended to pull me out of the narrative. The gameplay is more of the same from Arkham City, but it isn't and doesn't feel like a main line Arkham game.

    Disappointingly, this entry in the Arkham series falls short and fails to live up to expectations. Here are several reasons why it missed the mark:

    The once valuable Detective mode has been downgraded to the point of near-uselessness. The game's visuals are excessively dark, making it difficult to see, compounded by convoluted pathways, dead-ends, and misleading textures. Numerous    Disappointingly, this entry in the Arkham series falls short and fails to live up to expectations. Here are several reasons why it missed the mark:

    The once valuable Detective mode has been downgraded to the point of near-uselessness.

    The game's visuals are excessively dark, making it difficult to see, compounded by convoluted pathways, dead-ends, and misleading textures.

    Numerous detective mode "puzzles" rely on tedious rewinding and fast hints that are easily missed, with no option to hear them again. The lack of map indicators adds to the frustration.

    Bugs plague the game, such as following a sniper trajectory, losing it after a misstep, and never finding it again. Again, the absence of map assistance exacerbates the issue.

    Script overlaps occur frequently, interrupting bomb defusals with sudden triggered crimes or cutscenes, while the bomb timer continues to run.

    The game unnecessarily expands its complexity, leading to moments of extreme frustration. Searching for hidden paths becomes a repetitive cycle of jumping, sliding, and looking around with no apparent solution, thanks to a poorly designed detective mode. It's a frustrating experience.

    Contrary to popular opinion, the story fails to impress. It is as lackluster as the overall game, and attempts to justify it as a redeeming factor would be disingenuous.

    Boss battles prove exhausting, particularly the infamous encounter with Deathstroke. Many players have abandoned the game at this point, and subsequent boss battles are even worse, featuring drawn-out fights with overwhelming numbers or contradicting Batman's principles.

    Side missions offer little enjoyment. Penguin's crate challenges, enigma quests devoid of riddles, and others feel poorly tested, with difficulty levels spiking abruptly.

    The game suffers from a multitude of bugs. Batman's movements glitch frequently, preventing successful ambushes or resulting in awkward gliding and inability to navigate obstacles. Invisible walls impede progress, while enemies exhibit unrealistic behavior, constantly changing direction.

    Takedowns and combat controls are frustratingly imprecise. Ground takedowns often fail, auto-locking glitches in critical areas, and silent takedowns take too long to execute effectively. Environmental objects are poorly placed and fail to incapacitate enemies adequately. The grading system for fights often provides inexplicable and unjust ratings.

    The story revolves around rediscovering familiar villains, perpetuating a tiresome narrative trope.

    An inconveniently located bridge at the town's center hampers efficient travel to mission objectives, with an obstructing building that forces circumnavigation.

    While more points could be raised, it suffices to say that this installment stands as the weakest in the Batman series. Even Sega's "Batman and Robin" manages to outshine it, which speaks volumes about the game's overall quality."    … Expand

    Not the best batman game but definitely not the worst. It has all the same mechanics as all of the Arkham series games do, the only thing I personally don't like is the setting. It is a very boring and depressing open world. Another thing bringing this game down is the amount of bugs and little issues on the PC title.

    Batman games are a triology and they have this parody game called origins... Weak comperated to other Batman games in every way,fights are less fluent puzzles don't require using your brain story at first was alright than went **** real fast. at first i was going to give like 3 or 4 but final mission was alright and just that mission itself raised this game to a 5 for me

    My fears about new dev team were put to rest as soon as I started to play this game. Excellent original formula renewed with minor additions gameplay-wise, online multiplayer mode (which is actually fun), and quite a strong story makes it a true successor to previous Arkham adventures. I hereby recommend this game to every fan of "Arkham" series, you won't be dissapointed.

    A very underrated game in my opinion, even though the voice actors were not the same as other 3 Arkham series, they still did a great job, the biggest thing I really loved were the boss fights, all unique and very enjoyable, even the Mr. Freeze DLC was a good story.

    Not as good as the first two but that doesn't mean it's bad. It is not really a big improvement from city as city was from asylum, bu still it is an excellent game with what might be the best story and atmosphere in the series and of course boss fights. It should not be ignored by people who are planning to play this series.

    With the limited time the team at WB Montreal and the severe limitations they had while making the game, it's amazing the game we got came out this good. It's not the best in the series, it's more like an Arkham City 2.0 in regards to the gameplay. The story here is really the main attraction and it's really cool to see the origins of the arkham universe. Лично мне ещё понравилось, что игра перестала глючить на максималках, как это делала Arkham City, а также уменьшили количество трофеев загадочника (точнее это не трофеи, а файлы с компроматом, но суть не меняется). Из всей серии игр, в этой лучшие битвы с боссами, они реально офигенны. Конечно, не одна из них не сравнится с битвой против мистера фриза из Arkham City, но это была всего одна битва, а тут каждый босс очень крутой, за исключением боссов из дополнительных заданий. И джокер из этой части мне нравится больше, чем в остальных. Здесь он какой-то более безумный, но при этом не похож на клоуна-приколиста, а действительно на опасного поехавшего преступника. Несмотря на лучший сюжет в серии, в геймлейном плане игра не привносит почти ничего нового по сравнению с предыдущей частью. Графика тоже лучше не стала. Мир хоть и стал больше, но контента и дополнительных заданий в нём стало меньше. Тёмная и мрачная атмосфера Готэма сменилась на предновогоднюю, она мне хоть и нравится, и под Новый год играть в эту игру одно удовольствие, но бэтмэну всё-таки больше подходит мрачный стиль. К сожалению, для меня - это худшая часть в серии, но это не значит, что это плохая игра. Это до сих пор отличная игра про бэтмэна, но на фоне всей квадрологии она не сильно выделяется, даже не смотря на лучший сюжет в серии. Но на одном сюжете далеко не уедешь. Мне кажется, что разработчики могли сделать игру намного лучше, но сосредоточили много сил на мультиплеере, который, по-моему, очень странный, и вообще не нужен бэтмэну. Если бы мультиплеера не было, и разработчики потратили больше сил на компанию, то скорее всего, это была бы лучшая часть из всей квадрологии про бэтмэна.

    I played this game in 2022 and it's kinda embarrassing how many bugs it has. They definitely get in the way of your fun. Enemies teleport around, the cape gets crazy and little bumpers on the ground block your way.

    It's not at all a bad game, but its definitely the worse on the franchise

    I don't know why this game gets so much hate but this game is fantastic and a true gem. The villain lineup is fabulous and the Black Mask reveal comes with a twist. I loved this game, the game has 8 assassins hunting Batman for $50 Million bounty. The DLC is average but the Batsuit is amazing. The only reason I don't give it a 10 is because of the hype they created in the trailer forI don't know why this game gets so much hate but this game is fantastic and a true gem.     I don't know why everyone's hating on that part so much, but Origins truly one of the best games ever created, with insane attention to details, descent plot, a lot of additional content after credits, awesome dark city vibe etc. Yeah it's lose comparing to Arkham City and Knight as iconic masterpieces, but still must play and better than 99% games nowadays.

    Excellent game. I do not understand all the negativity abut this game. It is well done Batman game with well done combat, cool gadgets and awesome boss fights. The game holds its own graphically even today. It is definitely good super hero game to play

    I actually really like this game but the bugs are absurd. I had to break the game in order to get past one of the glitches, and I couldn't finish the final encounter with Joker because the game wouldn't give me the prompt to dodge his attacks. The fact it's been 8 years and the game still doesn't work is insane. I heard it works better on console so maybe try it out on that.

    Foi muito criticado pela galera só por que é outro estudio que fez.
    O primeiro a ser dublado pt-br, a dublagem do Coringa é de arrepiar. Todos os dubladores das animações e do filme do Nolan estão presente.

    For the love of God, please no more Joker. The execs were like: Joker is the most popular Batman villain so put him in every game. The main story was really short and nothing special.     It's a shame to put this note for an Arkham game as a fan, but this game deserves it
    the script is very good and offers us incredible sequences while leaning much more on the detective side of Batman, the scenario is very well paced between action scene, infiltration and detective phase
    but the problem are the graphics, the game is less beautiful than Arkham Asylum while it comes out four years after Asylum (it shows that the game was made by Warner Montreal and not Rocksteady)
    all this without talking about all these bugs of textures and the terrible sound design of the game (sometimes you can see that the characters open their mouths but we do not hear what they say, or sometimes the speech of some bandits is shifted compared to the movement of their mouths) but THE BIGGEST WEAKNESS of the game is well the number of glitch, sometimes you can teleport below the Map, and remain stuck in a door without being able to open it)
    The animations of the characters are less fluid than before

    So this game is completely forgettable,''Osef'' as we would say in France, a game that seems to be a demo so it is not complete, thousands of bugs, the game that crashes almost all the time and graphics that sometimes seems atrocious because of many bugs textures
    and it's a shame because the scenario is good and very well written
    but Warner Bros Montreal did the bare minimum, not very encouraging when you see that they are going to make Gotham Knights, which is not part of Arkham Verse, so at least we can be relieved that they are not going to ruin a flagship license of video games    … Expand

    I love the story, second best from all the Arkham games a 9 out of 10, but the combat is kinda off. Asylum had a good start with it, city got it a good flow, but here I don't really know sometimes it just feels to slow, a 7 out of 10. If Warner Games Montreal had the same combat like Rocksteady did it with Arkham city it would have been a 8,5 out of 10, but with that combat system, saddly not.

    Batman: Arkham Origins takes place in Batman's early years of crime fighting. On Christmas Eve Batman learns someone has put up a bounty on his head, and now all the future big villains like Deathstroke, Killer Croc, Deadshot, Lady Shiva, Firefly etc are looking for him to kill him. He finds out about a killer named Black Mask, and decides to catch him. It is later revealed that the villain was Joker. Joker tried to commit suicide to escape Batman, but Batman stopped him immediately. From there Joker learnt about Batman's no-kill rule, and he told all about it to Dr Harleen Quinzel when he was sent to the Arkham Asylum.

    This was the first Arkham game that I had played. I only played it to the part where we have to fight Deathstroke and then I watched the video of the gameplay afterwards, since I didn't legally own the game and it would be wrong to enjoy a game through piracy. I played all the other Arkham games recently, about two years after Epic gave them all. And it was only after playing those did I decide to watch a few videos and take a look at it.

    Although one of the complaints towards the game is that there is barely any story, it is very gripping within itself. The part where Bruce and Alfred have an argument whether Batman should go out or not was a really emotional one, and when the Batcave was attacked I actually thought for a moment that Alfred died. My heart almost skipped a beat, but then later on when it was shown that he's still alive I realised how obvious it was. Another complaint about this game is the poor graphics, which are nowhere even close to the ones that Rocksteady makes. I mean, I can't support this argument, other than the fact that as long as my potato PC can run on anything other than the lowest graphics I'm happy with it. Also because I'm gonna try the game on the lowest graphic settings anyway, the graphics don't matter to me.

    The main menu of this game is pretty dope. I don't see why no one seems to talk about that. It's like if Arkham City had been able to do it properly. Batman's costume is one of, if not the greatest original Batsuit to ever be shown in any media. The voice acting by Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker are also really great (this could be my bias speaking since I like both of them). The fights are very bad compared to the other games, but as "games" itself they are pretty good.

    There's no doubt when one says that even the "worst" Arkham game is actually pretty good. The only reason why it's so criminally underrated is because people tend to compare it with other Arkham games. I had played it before having played the original trilogy, but after trying them I got spoilt. So I think the best way to play this is by playing it without any memory of a previous game.    … Expand

    Despite a great story with some of the best boss battles in the series, the bad open world and a jarring visual style bring the game down greatly, and most of the new gameplay additions aren't anything to write home about. The gameplay is still extremely fun, though, and WB Montreal did a decent job of bringing a new layer of violence to Batman's combat through the animations and sound.

Not only were they often a cut-scene of the cinematic type, which does not use the graphics from the game at all, which means nothing about it, but I was rather annoyed by the appearance of the characters. Alfred was fine for me, but maybe Batman was quite weird, but especially the Joker. What did they do to him? It wasn't really bad, it wasn't, but he looked a lot better before. But the Joker no longer plays such a role here as before, because the main role of the villain was taken over by Two-Face, which you probably already know here that the game will simply not have the previous ones, because at least no one has a Joker for me. What I also praised the previous games for was the so-called I call it scanned scenes in the manner of Far Cry, although I don't like to say the comparison myself, but I don't know what else to compare it to. I honestly don't even know if they were here anymore or not, but probably not, because if they did, they would be etched in my memory.     Gameplay of course, this part is not far away from Arkham City. But the developers did work on the bugs. The city is divided into sections and we do not have so many hiding places of the Riddler. This made it easier to find them, and the tests on the caches themselves were not surprising. Most of it is simple. There are interesting additional missions. The mission with the mad Hatter and Alice sends us into a flashback of the Scarecrow.

    First, you should know this game is riddled with bugs. Pun intended. Some of these bugs are game breaking and require a fresh start after 20 hours or more in a session. Some are tedious invisible objectives that take walking around until you find the place to click.

    I think this game has little turning off from previous two games. It's kind of silly because if it's a prequel why does batman have better suit and gadgets. But it's still tireless like every batman Arkham series.

    Шикарный приквел к оригинальной трилогии . Сюжет возможно даже лучше чем в них . Однако в ПК версии есть баг , который мне мешал продолжать игру . Но из-за своих проблем я не вижу повода снижать оценку

    The game is graphically beautiful, but is not envolvent as the previous games. There are some bugs who makes the experience of playing frustrating, but I have to admit that Scarecrow and Mad Hatter scenes were amazing.

    A fine enough time to wander around and be batman. The plot and missions didn't grab me but the open world gameplay was satisfying enough.

    First thing I want to say, is this is not a bad game. If you've played the previous two entries in this series (Asylum, City) and enjoyed the combat, there is plenty to be enjoyed here. The free-flow mechanics are as tight as ever, and there's even a few new enemy types to be thrown in.

    It was not bad at all but still had many many problems. Joker is weird and feels pretty unpolished and rushed and like an unnecessary game overall. But I still had a good time with it.

    This game is fully bug free now, so ignore all people giving low rating just because of bugs.
    It's a beautiful game, a solid successor of arkham city, definitely better in every possible way.
    It's very playable, fun and challenging, especially if you try to complete all challenges.
    Rating 10 to compensate for the misleading reviews, I would still give this a 9.

    It is a great game. However, we can see the difference from a rocksteady Batman game and a Batman game from another developer. It's definitely not a bad game, but the worse Batman Arkham.

    This game in 2019 is perfect! I played twelve hours in this game and I wasn't bored at all. I liked it more than the previous two because it had it all! The bosses were great and their battles were very good. Also his gameplay is as we know it, very good and fast with all the gadgets of course.     *GRAPHICS*: Origins is visually superior to the previous two, but there is no noticeable improvement over Arkham City, which ages better and was graphically impressive in its year of departure, which Origins does not.

    *SOUND*: Origins also offers the best soundtrack of the seventh generation Batman Arkham, with a perfect main theme, which captures the essence of Nolan's Batman.

    Felt like a much better story than the previous two games, even if it's a prequel and has logic gaps like Batman having cooler gear in this adventure than others that would come later in the timeline. It's also the same city from the previous game, but the action and fun here is top notch, on par with previous games, just not different enough from the previous games.

Unfortunately the design and game mechanics were so popular at the time of release that it simply encouraged    There has been plenty of Batman games ever since the franchise first took off, many of those games fell into either an action adventure or a side scrolling beat-em-up arcade game.

    When Arkham Asylum first came on to the scene, it changed a lot of what we expect for Batman games. Unfortunately the design and game mechanics were so popular at the time of release that it simply encouraged game developers to continue to copy the play mechanics for every iteration going forward.

    While this is an enjoyable game, that doesn't mean there aren't glairing issues with the product. The biggest being that it's simply a mimic of it's predecessors. You really aren't going to find anything new or unique with the game if you've played the previous installments.

    "Detective Mode" can be a frustrating experience. It often involves you just wandering around a crime scene, scanning objects until you meet a certain percent of the current investigation and then using Batman's seemingly magical technology to reconstruct the crime scene, to the point you can even reward and fastforward it. It's tedious and boring. It would have been better if they had just changed these into cutscenes or something. As it is right now, the only thing I can see this mechanic as, is filler to pad out the length of the game.

    Combat can be satisfying at times, but relies on a lot of context senestive situations and as a result, players are often going to just find themselves mashing buttons instead of engaging in any sort of meaningful combat. This problem is often compounded by the fact most boss fights in this game are really nothing more than a series of quick time events.

    It's not a bad game by any means, but it features many repetitive mechanics in the game that can make it long winded and tedious. If you are a fan of the other games, it's likely you'll enjoy this one too, but I recommend you wait to buy this game until it's on sale.    … Expand

And in between fighting there are moments where a direct approach most be avoided and you need to be stealthy and use your brain to stay alive, something that could be even more challenging and rewarding them the fight itself.
    You have a lot of side quests to do, and things to collect and some of them are really challanging to get. Basically this game uses the same formula that worked so awesomely on Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City introducing us to the history of Batman and his allies (not going to spoiler anything for you guys).

    The game mechanic are intuitive, and the progress is rewarding. Each level you unlock more fighting moves or more gadgets to improve the possibility of success.

    Visually the game his very good for a 2013 standards. Enemy models are diversified and well constructed, in a fight it is frequent to appear a diverse number of models of enemies. But where the game graphics really shine are in the "bosses". Joker its the most impressive one, the facial details and animations are superb.

    My only complain was optimization, despite never have issues on the previous ones and my computer is up to date to the 2018 standards I get a few crashes and frame rate issues. I feel the game is not so optimized like the previous ones since I did not have problems to play them.

    Overall the game is fantastic, you can easily spend more them 25 hours to explore all the quests and side quests available, to get an idea, I focus on the story only and I only complete 25% of it. Fully recommend it, like all the other games of Batman series.    … Expand

Прокачка унылая, интересных или новых комбо нет, все перекачивало из прежних частей, повторюсь, что боевая система хуже в плане зрелищности. Что касается сюжета и миссий, то здесь тоже много огрехов, все происходит в замкнутых помещениях, на локациях, которых мы уже бывали (я понимаю, что эта часть приквел), но это не оправдывает, Точь-в-точь повтор локаций. Сами миссии тоже мало разнообразны, унылый стелст, с багованными болванчиками, которые телепортируются или в упор не слышат и не видят,ну и сражение с боссами, самый первый файт самый долгий и глупые, просто закликивание, да еще и в несколько фаз, ты побеждаешь, а в кац-сцене показывают, совершенно другое,сам графон хуже чем в прошлой (красивой City), перелеты стали невозможные, туман, мыло, короткий крюк, вышки, нет тех перелетов из (A City), там было зрелищно и чувствовался масштаб, здесь же им не пахнет. Удивительная для этой части отсутствие выполнение побочек и загадок и всего прочего сбора, с одной стороны наконец-то, но с другой, как то пусто. Единственный плюс это истории, становление персонажей, было интересно наблюдать за ними.    … Expand

    I really enjoyed Arkham Origins, it has probably the most fun story out of the Arkham games, nevertheless in the grand scheme of things it is just more of the same. It's a bit clunky and the gameplay is pretty derivative and redundant after a while. It's still a fun game, but it lacks the innovation promised by the new development team, which in turn makes it a sort of unremarkable game.

    У нас тут приквел. Много неизвестных злодеев. Таже самая карта, только с мостом и 2 частью города и покрытой снегом. Появилось куча разных противников. Герой странно себя ведет, невозможно контрить удары. Сюжет мне понравился. Мне понравились кат сцены очень. Но баги, и карта таже самая. Плюс они добавили оценку боя. Меня это бесило всю игру.У нас тут приквел. Много неизвестных злодеев. Таже самая карта, только с мостом и 2 частью города и покрытой снегом. Появилось куча разных противников.     This game is way underrated.
    Sure, it wasn't a Rocksteady game, but it is still a decent prequel to Asylum.

    There are a few scenes with bugged graphics, including multiple disappearing assets and the audio cutting out at moments, but those get fixxed by a quick pause of the game.

'Yeah, I'm the guy who turned a 96 into a 60, that's my claim to fame,’ said Arkham Origins’ producer Ben Matts a couple of days before the game’s release. Turns out, they did exactly that.

    There's definitely some re-tread going on with Batman: Arkham Origins, but the combat, the relatively good story (B-list villain aside), the powerful feeling of being Batman in video game form has only muted my enthusiasm for the franchise by the smallest of margins.
