Sep 20, 2011This is an amazing game for such a small game. The design is such that you can play the game in small sittings, but the game is good enough so that you'll never want to. I spent about 12 hours one day and beat it. It's not very often I play a game that evokes that sense of wonder I had playing games as a child.

Aug 24, 2011A product of good design and excellent creative direction. Its gameplay is fantastic, and the story, visual style, and soundtrack all work perfectly with it.
-
Sep 2, 2011Great visuals, amazing sound and narrative. Maybe a little too short - I've completed it in 3 hours, you can extend that time to 5-6 hours with the 'New game+" mode, but still - I've expected at least 7-8 hours for the first playthrough.

Sep 3, 2011This game is completely mind-blowing. 10 out of 10 for story, graphics, and dialog; 9 out of 10 for combat; and an overwhelmingly beautiful soundtrack make this the best indie game I have ever played, period. Do yourself a favor and try it out.

Sep 5, 2011Bastion is amazing. I initially bought the game for the soundtrack after hearing some of the music. The music is just that good. The game is even better. I enjoyed every minute of it. The story, narration, music, art, and gameplay. It all fit together perfectly. Game of the year for me.

Nov 13, 2011One of the best games I've ever played in my entire life. Period. The graphics, the narraration, the gameplay, the story, THE MUSIC OH GOD THAT SOUNDTRACK IS AMAZING...everything is just perfect. Worth every penny.

Jul 29, 2013Amazing graphics, presentation and overall style. It's just that the game is too arcade and primitive. Also, the idea of the path appearing under your feet may seem cool at first but is actually quite annoying: you don't see where you can go and where not.

Dec 22, 2018I couldn't get past the mind-boggling amount of poor game design. From broken visual cues to quirky menus to unnecessary distances to run slowly along to the unspoken wackiness that is the save system, it's like the devs asked themselves "how many ways can we unnecessarily waste a player's time?" Sorry Bastion, you're a crappy host, and no--my time's a little more valuable to me than nothing.

Aug 31, 2011Maybe someday developers will learn that making games look good and sound good is not enough to make them be good. This game plays like something from the deep dark past of gaming hell. It is really a shooter not an rpg.

Sep 3, 2011One of the most enjoyable games of all time and most certainly the most enjoyable downloadable game ever. Kudos to Supergiant Games. Keep up the god work!

Nov 23, 2012I seem to be in the minority on this one and am still trying to figure out why I didn't enjoy Bastion more. The art style and story line were both intriguing and original. I enjoyed the narrator gimmick. The music was superb. The gameplay was varied and had a reasonable amount of RPG elements.

Sep 11, 2011A compelling example of what happens when story and gameplay are correctly integrated. If you hold artistic pretensions for games, then you do not want to miss Bastion!

Dec 9, 2011An amazing, original presentation but completely hollow gameplay that feels like it only gets in the way of the storytelling. Very disappointed, the game certainly had potential but unfortunately to me a game, however beautiful it is, just cannot be lacking a solid core gameplay and still be enjoyable.

Nov 9, 2011Dunno what all the fuss is about, this is just boring and pointless. These kind of games should have disappeared a long time ago. So you walk around and shoot things, pick up loot, and repeat. Just about on the level of zelda from the olde days. Lame.

Aug 16, 2011The game is ok, combat can be fun and not too simplified, tons of destructible environment is also a plus. What i didn't like was annoying "off-screen" voice and price. 14 bucks could be fair price if Bastion had multiplayer and/or was replay-able, but as soon as you complete the main story you will never play this game again.

Sep 7, 2011This game is so good that I played through it twice back to back and each time I was sad the story ended. Beautiful music beautiful world, excellent story telling and great gameplay wraps this up as a fantastic game.

Jan 7, 2012i don't know what i must to say. This game so boring. This looks like WB wind the rating. Good music, good art. But gamplay so stupid. Where is the story? This is so stupid game.

Dec 29, 2013This was by far the most impressive indie game I have ever played, as well as one of my favorite games in general. The game's incredibly beautiful. The narrator is amazing, his implementation into the game really makes this game amazing. Narration in games is usually just some extra spice but Bastion wouldn't be Bastion without it, the narration is what makes this game.
-
Nov 1, 2011I played the demo and had a bit of fun. It's a cute game, I'd say if you never played a top down action rpg before it would be a great place to start so i will give it a six for some creativity and fairly smooth gameplay.

Jan 27, 2012One of the best games of 2011. Every thing is tied together perfectly, creating a seamless, coherent experience. Everything about the game - the music, the art style, the gameplay - ties into the theme. A perfect, perfect game.
-
Jan 24, 2013Beautiful musically and visually. Interesting combat system that continuously challenges you. Great story all the way through as well as fantastic narration. Still, the best part of the game was the incredible music.

Jan 23, 2014Thrilling gameplay, cool weapons and upgrades (RPG elements), love the style and narrator. There's a free demo on steam so try it out first. The story is interesting but also confusing and a bit aimless.
Great game, sometimes the controls will throw you because of the diagonal platforms. Relatively short, takes about 9 hours to beat, more if you choose to replay it. -
Sep 30, 2013A game with great story, atmosphere, and heart. I love the narrator's voice and the way he unfolds the story. The ending(s) of the game is an amazing experience that I would recommend to everyone. It drops just short of 10 because I only give that score to games that I consider very replayable. After experiencing all the different endings to Bastion I don't feel much urge to replay it.
-
Mar 19, 2013The game itself looked interesting and unique at first, but after playing a while I got bored. Never finished the game, there is no point. This game has graphics, great narrator's voice, but overall it is poorly designed.

Dec 9, 2013I loved this game. Beautiful scenery and levels. The soundtrack is just fantastic and really adds to the feel of the game. The voice-over narration is easily one of the most memorable and best parts of the game. Worth every penny you spend on it.
-
May 20, 2014A good game, with a great story and art style, the only thing is that the gameplay is lacking a bit, although i also have a dislike to the hack n slash type of games

Dec 23, 2013Bastion is beautifully made. Beautiful graphics. Epic narrator. The combat system could be improved but other than that, its awesome. It's pretty simple like that.
-
Dec 29, 2013Bastion is one of the best games I've ever played. This simple RPG is a must have. The unique game-play, custom layouts, and beautiful soundtrack all intertwine to make Bastion a great gaming experience for anyone.

Jun 4, 2014One of the best games I've ever played, definitely in my top 5, maybe even on my top 3. Really great story, as well as a wonder ful artwork and amazing music, even though the combat system was quite simple, I don't think it made the experience worse or even of less value
-
Sep 4, 2016Bastion is a nice little game, but not as good as many of the other reviews mention.
The gameplay is pretty bland, story is ok, never really inspired me.
Graphics are bad in my opinion. It can be fun, but I played lots of games much better than this one.
Not sure if playing this game in 2016 is making me biased, but I can't see anything special in it. -

Oct 27, 2018voto 70/100.
Carino il gameplay e la nota artistica, ma a mio parere gioco molto sopravvalutato, non capisco i voti così alti.. -

Nov 7, 2011An excellently crafted experience, good core mechanics and a narrator that will give even Morgan Freeman a run for his money. The setting is well done and overall the game has alot of polish.
Id say that using a x360 controller is the easiest way to play it. Happy gaming -

Feb 25, 2013as close to perfect as you will get in this generation. a great story; enough choices with weapons and with the story goes. And the original soundtrack pushes it over the edge.
You can get it dirt cheap anywhere and it's well worth the money. -

Jul 21, 2013Truly an awesome game, from the confusing but complex lore to the surprisingly exception soundtrack for an indie game. Most harp about the combat being boring, but try turning all the shrines on and you'll see how difficult and challenging the game can get.
-
Jul 7, 2012Fluid and addicting game-play, great story with wonderful presentation, amazing graphics and style, awesome soundtrack, lots of innovative and great ideas. Simply put, this game is amazing.
-
Dec 20, 2011This game is easily in my top 5 games for 2011. The gameplay, narration, and music are all brilliant. The game is absolutely beautiful and I think it proves that you don't need to push hardware to make a visually stunning game. It is such an enjoyable game, do yourself a favor and buy it. Can't wait to see what these guys do next.
-
Dec 7, 2012The game is very fun, I didn't expect much of it. But after playing it, it grows on you & the music & narration are done so well. The choices at the end, are very good. I recommend this game to everyone who likes a good story & strong mechanics in gameplay.
-
Feb 13, 2012An incredible game that is both mechanically satisfying, rewarding, fun, and innovative. The narration is fantastic, moments of the storytelling and music are genuinely emotional. One of the few indie games I give a full 10/10 to.

Nov 24, 2011Narration is amazing, the game play is amazing, the graphic style is great. Really the only problem I have with the game is that some of the more fun weapons are just damn near impossible to properly use when you start utilizing the shrines on later stages.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Oct 30, 2011Visually stunning independent action RPG impresses you with a captivating world but will disappoint you with a dull and boring combat system. [Oct 2011]

Oct 9, 2011Bastion hides a fun traditional gameplay under gorgeous and innovative visuals, that on the long run could come short in variety.
