  1. It's the realism that makes the supernatural elements seem so menacing, the beautifully designed, multi-layered puzzles with their much-appreciated clues, the dark atmosphere, lovely graphics, and the restrained, perfectly pitched sounds that make this game an experience.
  2. There is nothing in this game that you can point to and say that it was a breakthrough, but it is all consistent and consistently good. It is thoroughly enjoyable and doesn’t turn south on you half way through.
  3. Absolutely "worth playing." Pick up a copy, turn out the lights, and get yourself some quality heeby-jeeby time.
  4. It’s a little short, and it doesn’t have much in the way of puzzles, but it’s an intriguing game, and it’s fun to play through.

Despite the rewarding journey, the destination is rather disappointing. If the journey, and not the destination, is what is important to you, then Barrow Hill might be worthy of a pick-up.

A creepy, slow-paced point ’n’ click adventure. The plot is fine, and so is the simple yet efficient user interface. The most annoying thing is a time-consuming mushroom hunt in a dark forest. The ending is not especially rewarding, either, but the realistic puzzles and the smooth gameplay make up for it quite nicely. [Dec 2006]
  7. Meticulously designed, Barrow Hill delivers a Cornish sojourn definitely worth taking.
  8. Don't let the word "independent" concern you; this game is an excellent adventure that everyone should give a chance, especially those who like their horror mixed seamlessly with science and history.
  9. While the graphics are only serviceable, the game has a strong sense of atmosphere.
  10. Barrow Hill is another solid addition to the point-and-click genre. The genre will never go away, especially with quality titles such as this one coming out.

It has menial graphics, a lackluster storyline, and some of the most irritating and grinding gameplay I've ever experienced. The only credit to the game was that occasionally the surroundings would get a bit creepy... until they would play one of the horrible taped clips that made the entire thing a joke. As a huge fan of adventure games, this left me severely confused at to how people managed to scrape joy from this empty barrel. Full Review »

I wish the big budget blasting games could boast that they are bug free and will run on all systems. They can't. Also, why do rags like PC Gamer and Strategy informer play these games when they obviously hate them so much? They even state that they dislike 'these kind of games'. Morons. The annoying reviews they write are very easy to ignore when indie adventure games are this good. Full Review »
