Yet Bandle Tale a League of Legends Story works really well, at least for video game lovers who don't engage their minds too much. Its calming and relaxing power is undeniable, and lies in the combination of pastel graphics and light texture, perhaps too much so in reality. However, the gameplay loop based on improving one's resource gathering, crafting and decoration skills is solid and varied, with objects, tools and accessories to unlock and build. Everything is embellished with an essential artistic direction, which seems "tailor-made" on the chill genre. In short, when an online session of LoL has got you a little too pumped up, a spin on Bandle Tale is ideal to calm down a bit.

Feb 19, 2024Bandle Tale is one of the biggest departures in the League of Legends franchise yet, but it’s a hugely welcome respite from the more serious games in my backlog. It does take a bit of a time investment — somewhere between 40 and 60 hours — but it’s enjoyable to amble from objective to objective, taking breaks to host epic parties. It’s a shame that with the end of Riot Forge, we won’t be seeing these experimental titles anymore. While League can be an intimidating prospect, I found myself wholly welcomed by the comfy, silly nature of Bandle Tale.

It too often gatekeeps the fun behind skill tiers and layers of crafting that never felt totally satisfying to me, but at least the constant repetition etched the beautiful pixels onto my eyeballs. That’s good. I think?
