  1. With great graphics, excellent sound effects and some of the most fun and hilarious characters I’ve seen in any recent PC game, Bandits: Phoenix Rising is one of the best car combat games you can get for your PC.

If you've ever wanted to venture "Beyond Thunderdome," look no further, for this is action driving done right.
  3. A truly fresh and fun experience. While the plot is nothing to write home about, the furious combat action - which is far more mobile than in most action shooters - is utterly addictive.
  4. Multiple tasking with multiple weapons makes for a wild ride, and I like that, boy does it get hot and heavy at times.
  5. We are well aware that this game has a very simple story, but thanks to the crazy action, a competent AI and great graphics and music, it managed to create an interesting and involving atmosphere which will make you eagerly anticipate what comes next.
  6. The game is fun and plays incredible precise. With the great sense of speed, and total chaotic action that surrounds you, your heart will be racing after the missions have completed.
  7. There’s nothing new or innovative here to help revitalize this stale genre, but if you like your action fast and furious (and a bit mindless), then look no further.

Don't be ashamed if you find yourself gleefully yelling along with dialogue like "Eat crap, flaming craphead!" [Apr 2003, p.99]
  9. It’s the ham sandwich of shooter games. It won’t knock you on your ass with an explosion of flavor, nor will it bore you to tears with plainness, but mmmmmm, when the ham combines with the mustard, boy is it tasty.
  10. 72
It isn't deep, it isn't innovative, and it isn't particularly remarkable, but it is a fast paced and fun shooter for those looking for a new car combat game.
  11. The game's arcade-like action can be fun at times, but its difficulty level and lack of mid-mission saves will quickly make it too frustrating for many players.

I can also forgive the fact that at times, it's just too damn hard, even at the lowest difficulty level. For $20, though, you can get a lot of bang for your buck. [Aug 2003, p.77]
  13. Good enough graphics, good enough sound, good enough mission design, and good enough action.
  14. Computer Games Magazine

Even with its sometimes infuriating difficulty level (think the last 45-minute-no-break-boss-battle from "Serious Sam"), Bandits is an out-of-left-field action game that satisfies your inner Mel Gibson. [May 2003, p.83]
  15. An extremely fun game with very difficult controls.
  16. 60
Although the flaky sense of physics and controls bring it down a couple notches, Bandits: Phoenix Rising is still an entertainingly destructive auto combat game.
  17. 40
The racing in Bandits: Phoenix Rising is not that compelling, and the shooting loses its appeal after the first mission.

Single-player missions load very quickly and the graphics look really good for such an old game. I still play this game in 2016, 14 years after they released the game and i still like it.

The only thing that i didn't like that there is no sequel or anything that adds to this game, which is sad..
    Great game!
