    I have been with AC on the PC since it first became available, having previously been a big Forza and Gran Turismo player until all my peripherals became obsolete on the next-gen consoles. The problem with AC is that it becomes a different game with every upgrade - sometimes better, but usually worse.

    A big attraction for me was the ability to be able to use, create or modify cars and tracks made by normal users, although it does involve quite a learning curve. It gives the opportunity to be able to drive some of the more unusual or classic vehicles on equally unusual or classic tracks. Some of these 'Mods' are very good, but many are downright awful. The situation is further complicated by the fact that after most of the game's many and frequent upgrades the 'Mods' need to be updated to allow for new tyre models or new physics or, in particular, revamping of the engine sounds - which will have disappeared. Understandably most 'modders' get totally cheesed off with this and simply abandon the whole affair.

    The handling was pretty good from the off. At about version 1.3 it was excellent. We are now, at the time of writing, on version 1.10 and I'm afraid to say that it has gone right down the toilet by now. There seems to be some weird universal tendency for racing games (or sims) to go for the 'boomerang effect', whereby the back-end steps out, either deliberately or through over-enthusiasm and no matter how much you try to correct with less throttle and opposite lock, it just suddenly swings violently back the other way. This can either throw you right off the track facing the wrong direction or you will continue fish-tailing down the road.

    Front-wheel-drive cars also seem to have too much grip even when you reduce the road surface traction and are very difficult, if not impossible, to chuck about. Which is another great shame.

    You really need a wheel and pedals for this game too. The graphics are very good, although the latest version has just mucked up the screen resolutions so anything above full HD isn't fullscreen anymore. Bear in mind that some user-created tracks and cars are never going to look good no matter how brilliant the game gets.

    Gameplay as such is pretty mundane. Tune-ability and paint/livery changes require intensive evening classes as you have to doctor the code.

    All-in-all Kunos have shot themselves in the foot as far as making it a game for the 'modding community', which must be feeling quite betrayed by now.

    I get the feeling that porting the game to the Xbox and Playstation may well have been the kiss-of-death for AC on the PC, which is a great shame.

    A spiritual successor to the original rFactor, Assetto Corsa both lives and dies by the community modding scene. Combine this with objectively hostile developers who seem to have great disdain for the community that propelled them into the spotlight, childishly insulting those who suggest improvements or compare modding to the molestation of their own child, and it's hard to give AC high marks. The saving grace, even if you avoid every last modification imaginable, is that the stock content drives pretty well. But as with all sim racing sandboxes, your mileage may vary. Expand

    AC have great potential. Graphics is quite nice, although nowhere near leading edge. Physics is very solid, which makes it great for hot lapping. Mp has it's issues but it's being worked on.

    My biggest problem lies in single player experience, other then modding or hot lapping, there's pretty much nothing to do. Career mode as such is totally silly, using word "special events" would be more correct as well, as there is really no career mode, only couple of time trials and "racing" against AI opponents.

    I'm also missing a lot of actual racing content, racing rules. Being able to define a racing series and even better multi-class racing series.etc.

    overall to me it's just feels unfinished, rushed.
    Yes the driving experience is great - which for most is probably the most important thing, but everything else isn't there yet. Starting with car models which on first look great, but they you see little mistakes, wrong assignments of textures, broken lights, etc.

    absolutely wroth the price, but could have been so much better

    pros:
    sublime tyres physic, best in class;
    improved and scalable graphic;
    best force feedback ever;
    laser scan tracks are almost perfect;
    high level sound;

    cons:
    damage system is not complete yet
    no weather conditions
    poorly structured career system
    A.I. is wildly improvable

    I give it a passing grade on physics and feel but as a functioning simulation game it fails horribly.Despite saying updates every 2wks(not a maybe or should be),nothing of the sort..no real good tracks ,hardly any cars..lots of repeats though with a gtc or s here and there..and multiplayer is a damn farce.If your looking for a great racing sim to unwind on the internet with and feelI give it a passing grade on physics and feel but as a functioning simulation game it fails horribly.Despite saying updates every 2wks(not a maybe or should be),nothing of the sort..no real good tracks ,hardly any cars..lots of repeats though with a gtc or s here and there..and multiplayer is a damn farce.If your looking for a great racing sim to unwind on the internet with and feel satisfied after racing(even when losing..lol) then this is NOT the sim for you. For sure, not the BEST SIM EVAR!!!!!! But good enough for 40€.

    The developers announced new features that will come with the 1.1, so maybe it will start to be a good sim... MAYBE...

    Due to past glory I decided to give Assetto Corsa shot on PC in 4K. Overall the experience was a bit disappointing due to single player and most of the extras being a complete bore. Once you're done upgrading your car and have made your way through the tracks, there is no extra or exciting content that is offered. I do have to give praise for the graphics however, they are truly amazing and as far as realism goes I would say it ranks close to the top. The realistic driving control may be fun for some but I find it far too unresponsive to be as demanding as it is. Turning and overall control is difficult at times, but especially frustrating on harder courses. It will take time to get used to the tight controls, which once you do it doesn't seem the content is there to warrant continued play. On any future release I would like to see more single player and online content offered. Expand

    The best racing game in PC, just a few mods and thus game is a 11/10, it's a 9yo game and still with one of the best physics ever.

    This game is normally not that good game but with mods this game become a super good game. BUT when we check multiplayer we cannot say that. Dirty drivers, Only GT racing servers(because ACC supposed to be like this), Don't have a rating system. Hard to create server(not like AMS2). So yeah my rating is 6/10.

    Despite some thorns in the AC racing rose bouquet, Kunos has created an auto game that is definitely worth taking for a spin.
