If it was up to me, i think they should go back to something that would be combination of Black Flag story/combat and Unity parkour. But i take Valhalla and Dawn of Ragnarok any day over AC 1. You shouldn't care at all what some youtubers think, you should decide what you like. Valhalla was great and this is also solid, best out of all expansions imo. So my advice for AC fans would be - Ignore negative youtubers and enjoy great games, easy. Expand

Thank you Ubisoft for releasing another fun, entertaining video game, that doesn't have bosses that take 7 hours to beat. Lmao IGN review is hypocrisy at it's finest. They complain that while story is good, it still feels like Valhalla and they give it 6/10. But when Elden Ring feels like Dark Souls 3, then that's completely fine? lmao. Good game, just avoid negative reviews i guess, especially IGN apparently.

In times where gaming is pretty much dying and bunch of gamers (hopefully it's minority) think that every game should have only Souls combat (because apparenly game is boring, if it doesn't take you 20 hours to fight one boss), i'm glad that there's still Ubisoft. Honestly without Ubisoft i might give up gaming and only come back when Rockstar releases something (and that's like once every 8 years). Capcom is always hit or miss and there really isn't much else. Maybe Dead Space remake delivers (hopefully), Days Gone was amazing, but didn't get a sequel, because it was an actual game and not enough movie. Sony movie games in general don't interest me, it's like playing interactive cutscenes. Ubisoft is only one of those companies who actually makes lots of games every year. Of course not all of them hit the mark, but ones that do, are great. This is one of the good ones. Expand

Amazing world and abilities. The raven shapeshifting is the coolest thing since Zelda BOTW glider. More AC Valhalla is more fun for me. Good game, doesn't reinvent the wheel, but as game reviewers have already stated, innovation is completely overrated and even unnecessary as Elden Ring got 95 on Metacritic by using the same animations and graphics from Dark Souls 3. So it's only fair, that Ubisoft doesn't really need to make completely new mechanics either, as Valhalla already was solid game. This is a great installment in the already large Valhalla. People say they don't need fantasy, this is not AC, this should be included in the gamepass... I say this is an incredible expansion with enough content and new features to be sold separately. Kuddos for Dawn of Ragnarok!

Ok just competed the game and it’s totally half baked. the story is finished where I thought it’s only half of this game! wtf Ubisoft finish this game with a second part also it’s not 40 hours long it’s around 20ish ..

Well, technically a 9.5/10 due to bugs but a solid DLC and well worth the money. The writing is very solid, the quests are solid, exploration and combat are much better, especially exploration which isn't good in the base game. Good stuff, easily the best paid Valhalla DLC so far.

The first time I'm annoyed to have spent money on an Assassins Creed. These "dream" fantasy worlds are nothing new in the last trilogy, but this one I didn't like at all. The game world is built more vertically and you need the new skills for different tasks, but you can only have 2 equipped, so you first have to find the matching skill again and loot it from the enemy. Also, you can run out of energy in the process and have to gather it first. This all makes the game bulky and cumbersome and you are constantly slowed down in a rather annoying way. The travelling is convoluted and bulky. The puzzles, switch locations just stand around and offer nothing motivating to complete them. You can get away with it all because it's a dream but it's now pretty far away from "assassin" gameplay and I didn't enjoy this world, character and content at all. Too bad, Ubisoft. Expand

Only company that actually releases multiple games each year and each time certain type of "gamers" try to sht on them, while actually everyone buys their games anyway. I bet Ubisoft haters are those same losers who think that Elden Ring is most innovative game of all time, 2013 graphics and 2016 combat, "innovative at it's finest". Ubisoft at least tries.

Just cause you have bad taste in video games, is literally your personal problem and honestly i'm not surprised that Ubisoft fans are finally making new accounts here to protect their favorite games, because compared to Sony Movie games, Ubisoft fans have never cared for user scores on some sites, these games sell millions anyway, people are too busy playing these games than caring about some useless user scores on some websites. But it has been pretty obvious that in recent years some 40 y old virgins are endlessly trying to hate Ubisoft games (for whatever lame reasons they have), so i'm absolutely not surprised that Ubisoft fans are finally trying to say that "this is not okay basically, this mindless hating has literally gone too far", so they are clearly making new accounts, so they could express that they DO like this game. I know it might be shocking concept to some people, but gamers actually have different taste in gaming. I almost feel it's kind of cringe that i have to explain something so obvious, but why not i guess. Either way, solid DLC. Expand

Ubisoft said it's "the most ambitious expansion in the history of the series". in my opinion, this is a blatant lie. In terms of scale, this addition was not even close to the Fate of Atlantis from Odyssey. Their attempt to sell this DLC not in a season pass, but separately, citing its scale, also does not stand up to criticism. In terms of scale, this expansion is the same as the previous Siege of Paris DLC. Nothing justifies releasing this expansion on its own rather than in the Season Pass. The plot is frankly weak, throughout the DLC there is only one strong cutscene, but it does not justify a separate sale. And the DLC itself is frankly weak, like Valhalla itself. 6/10.

This stuff is just insufferable. No wonder the writers are striking - companies don't want to pay them to come up with this nonsense as it just ticks people off. Automatic huge negative hit to the score for anything woke like this in the game. This stuff is why I haven't paid for a Ubisoft game in over 5 years. I'll keep borrowing copies of games I want to check out until Ubisoft course corrects on this kind of silliness.
    * This mystical dreamworld stuff does not belong in an Assassin's Creed game. Ubisoft really needs to stop copying Witcher 3 - they've made three of these in a row now. Let's get back to actual Assassin's Creed at some point, please.
    * The new mechanics for "Hugr" (special powers you get in the dream world) are pretty annoying. Not fun, and a number of the objectives are tied to gaining and using these goofy powers like flying around as a Raven, etc...just bad mechanics overall that, again, have no business in an Assassin's Creed game. I remember when Assassin's Creed developers wouldn't even give Altair a crossbow in AC1 simply because it wouldn't have made realistic sense for the time period. Would love to see Ubisoft get back to having things make sense.
    * Requires Ubisoft Connect to launch the game.
    * Inexplicable use of your raiding crew in this dreamworld...no real narrative explanation so it doesn't fit very well at all as an activity.

    Pros:

    * Hunting down the different Shelters was fun. Would like to see more integration with Assassin lore, though in future games as these last 3 games have not felt even remotely like Assassin's Creed games.
    * Thought the "Rage Axe" skill was awesome outside of the lightning effect - I love when the fighting has cool moves put in that you can use - I just don't like the mythical nonsense with forces of nature like lightning, fire, etc.

In terms of its size Dawn of Ragnarok is a full-fledged, traditional expansion we used to see back in the day rather than a typical modern DLC. It offers a surprisingly good story but the mythological setting didn’t bring any substantial changes to the gameplay. It’s just more of Valhalla and while I enjoyed the base game I’ve simply had enough of Vikings by now.

Dawn Of Ragnarok is an extremely ambitious expansion that could be categorized as a stand-alone game. With a significant playtime that fluctuates between some very funny and somewhat tedious, the gameplay can be very unique and immersive.

While Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok has some brilliant ideas, it's far from the epic expansion that you'd want it to be. It's hampered by reused mechanics and a story that's woefully disconnected from your main character's arc.
