    I have had this AC for a few days now, and I am already totally immersed.The game is a HUGE improvement over the last game (which shall not be named) Black Flag takes the naval combat from AC3 and makes it more or less the main aspect. The controls for maneuvering your ship are responsive for the most part, sometimes trying to use your fire barrels may be a hassle. There is so muchI have had this AC for a few days now, and I am already totally immersed.The game is a HUGE improvement over the last game (which shall not be named) Black Flag takes the naval combat from AC3 and makes it more or less the main aspect. The controls for maneuvering your ship are responsive for the most part, sometimes trying to use your fire barrels may be a hassle. There is so much content on the map.Finding buried treasure and collecting songs for your crew are some things to do. Hunting from AC3 has been kept in the game,you can use the animals for crafting or sell them.But hunting gets really repetitive after a while. The new addition of harpooning sea creatures helps add variety but this too gets repetitive.The story is not the worst nor the best, and that keeps my review from getting a 10.… Expand

    A great continuation of franchise. A lot of time can be spent with it, a lot of opportunities and fun. The only thing I was missing is a good story outside of the animus. But he was fine anyway.

    This game is last good Assasins Creed (AC). I have enjoyed all AC since the first one which i though was regular back in the day i gave it a score of 7.0/10, then AC2 blew my mind with an insteresting story and some how a lovable main character 8.0/10. AC Brother Hood was more of a continuation for me 7.8/10 and AC Revelation was like the same but with more darker atmosphere 7.5/10.

AC Brother Hood was more of a continuation for me 7.8/10 and AC Revelation was like the same but with more darker atmosphere 7.5/10.

    I skipped AC3 entirely because its bad optimization on PC. The I played AC Unity which i thought was a very boring game 5.8/10 and AC Syndicate 6.0/10 I unistalled both games after a few missions because the story and mechanics were a pain in the ass.

    Then today Ubisoft (company that i dont like since they scammed me with The Division) gave away for free a copy of Assasins Creed IV Black Flag and ohh boi i have to tell you people this AC is GOOD, its like AC2 meets the first Pirates of the Caribbean, playing this game is a charming journey for single player campaing, i rate the game 8.5/10 (Metacritic dont allow that score so i gave it 9.0/10 to be fair).    … Expand

    This is my favorite Assassin's Creed game. I completed it 6 times and would be happy to do it again. Amazing graphics, wonderful atmosphere, breathtaking views and fantastic story. I love how everything works together in this part. It is pirate game and somehow it is totally canonic Assassin's Creed title. It is like previous ACs but in different setting and with additional mechanics. 10This is my favorite Assassin's Creed game. I completed it 6 times and would be happy to do it again. Amazing graphics, wonderful atmosphere, breathtaking views and fantastic story. I love how everything works together in this part.     Honestly i'm not an assassin's creed fan at all, but this game has really taken my attention..
    I enjoyed the entire story line and the awesome graphic; I have appreciate a lot the crew's songs too (it could sounds stupid, but yep, i enjoyed them sailing the sea).. Maybe to easy

    As I've grown older I've lost interest for the Assassin's Creed series but the one game I still have fond memories of is Black Flag. It still has the main gameplay loop of every other game in the series but it balances it out with the great ship combat.
    Closer to a 7 than a 9

    As of right now i like Black Flag and Valhalla equally. Valhalla obviously has more content and better graphics, but Black Flag was also incredible game in 2013 terms and still holds up both graphically and story wise.

    The Assassin Creed Franchise has had its up and downs, but ACV is absolutely an up. This game is extremely fun and I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the previous games. The ship combat has improved and the graphics are beautiful. This game is probably my favorite in the franchise so far.

I felt that depressing feeling during the opening cutscene and tutorial island when the game wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped. Once I boarded my ship and headed to Havana, things improved and confidencePeople are funny (or is that just PC gamers?). Greatly improved from AC3 and with so much to do and collect, it's gonna take a while to see all of it. This is my new favourite AC game. Enjoy.… Expand

It is HUGE in scope, a fully realised open world. The companion App on iPad works like a dream. As of now this is my personal game of the year.. It is a true video game classic a must buy and the best thing toA lovingly created masterpiece.     Among all the AC series that had been released, this sequel by far is the best one ever. No doubt Ubisoft seems to have done a very good job in fulfilling customer's request for features in game that was first unveiled in AC3 but was not polished well which was naval warfare. Honestly, when AC3 came out, the naval warfare was one key feature that really attracts me the most but I was a bitAmong all the AC series that had been released, this sequel by far is the best one ever. No doubt Ubisoft seems to have done a very good job in fulfilling customer's request for features in game that was first unveiled in AC3 but was not polished well which was naval warfare. Honestly, when AC3 came out, the naval warfare was one key feature that really attracts me the most but I was a bit disappointed because it only appears as side missions and players don't have much choice to sail to other places and uses it as a mean of transports for exploring. However, AC4 really revamped that whole concept and brought my wish to real. For me, the open sea free-for-exploration with a ship is the best selling point for AC4. Never in my entire life have I seen a game that managed to handle naval warfare very well. It is too awesome. The ability to sail across the sea, stop by islands and explore them seamlessly without any boundaries, engage in epic naval battle and board the ships are the best key features for me. Playing the game somehow kind of reminds me a bit of Pirates of the Caribbean especially during the naval battle. Plus the new engine in the game which allows for spontaneous storms and huge waves to occur really added to the realism and epicness of the game. Seriously I wouldn't mind if the next AC5 continues on the sea exploration concept. In fact, I really hope they would retain naval exploration in the next installment. For anyone that has not played any Assassin's Creed series before, I think this installment is the best way to start with. It's like GTA but in a pirate settings in the caribbeans.… Expand

    The game mechanism are so dumb down, even a monkey could play the game. A lot of good features from the predecessor games are missing. Specially from the combat... this game was build around it, but still this is the most unpretending part of the game... Everything that was good in AC3's naval combat, devs just trashed all of it.

    - There aren't any diffirences between ships... a 3500 tonne man of war will be as fast as Edward's small ship. The legendary ships are some kind of freaking jokes... they accelerate at 80 m/s and they are equipped with jet engines. WTF?
    - Canon reload time is so low... it takes (even for the man of war's 100 canons) only 3 seconds... just spam full boardside volleys, that is the only thing you will do in combat. Frigates and man of war ships have some future tech gatling canons... they can fire up to 5 volleys in quick succession (under ~10 seconds)
    - You can no longer change canon rounds like in AC3.
    - Ship sails no longer takes dmg, chain-shots lost there whole function... oh wait they've got a new one, now they STUN ships like in damn WoW...
    -This game is so arcade... you have the option to repair your ship AND loose all you notority after you board a ship.

    Melee combat sucks also... Thee E is your ultimate key used for anything... counter, dodge, parry. HP potions removed entirely.
    Edward regain heatlh automatically.. The fast-travel option added to the game, it has some nice side effects too, it can be used anytime, even in combat. Also recharges your full ammo supply (smokebombs, darts too) Eagle vision now tags enemies like the annoying wallhack in Far Cry 3. Assassinte missions are so arcade, you can run straight to your target, don't worry about being detected, because it's no longer cause desync. (mission fail, not even in story mission)

    The world looks big on the map, but its feels empty even towns and also lacks detail. Side activities are so few and even those are so boring, just a tons of ridiculously easy assassination contracts.

    This game won't provide any fun for whose played the older games. Black Flag is a huge disapointment. Made for 10 yrs old console-kids. This game probably don't deserve a medicore score.    … Expand

    Game on PC is unplayable, tearing everywhere, even if i can play most games with high detail, this game is barely playable with low settings. While AC3 was a bad porting but was at least playable, this one is really not worth the money. I really don't think PC gamer deserve a poorly optimized game like this.

    THE FACTS: the controls are the same as in prequels, made for the console, you have 8 buttons to do everything. If the view changes you're not running forward but sideward with the same button, making impossible some difficult moves and finishing 100% (if you care about it). If a reviewer never mentions bad controls, it means they never played the game. Read carefully.

    There are no savegames, but checkpoints. So if you scrw it up because of the bad controls, you can start all over again. Is it really that difficult to make a good port to the pc? I don't think so. But Ubi cares about money not about fans or gamers. On the long run this will prove an epic fail.

    I give 1 for the score because exactly that much they improved the game from AC3 (some flashy effects and a bigger map). If you are not payed by Ubi, you would never score this game above 3 or 4 (on the PC).    … Expand

    I love this game, but the Pc version has a lot of Framerate issue and Ubisoft said they will not patch it for economic reasons, what a software house. PLEASE DON'T SPEND ANY MONEY ON IT, UBISOFT MUST CRY FOR THIS

    It has the same problems as the earlier ACs, nothing changed, a bad port to pc. Make a bad game, spend tons of money on advertising, fake reviewers and there you are. I was so hoping after the 2nd part, that they will fix issues, but Ubisoft is only out for money. It's a shame.

    Honestly, this game is an unoptimized cop out on ubisofts part. Runs absolutely terribly on pc, and the fact that atl east half the missions are recycled "stealth" get to point a to point b without getting detected. Literally, tailing simulator 2012. The "NAVAL STEALTH" was the last straw, if you are gonna get this game, i suggest pirating it.

    I hate it. Its very poorly optimized. Its as buggy as it can get. Then the genre should have been action adventure because there is no stealth in this. Ubisoft has not done justice to a game which had a lot of potential.

    They up everything, they have trashed the story of the game, the amasing story build in assasins 1 and up at revelations and got worse at assasins 3 now its over IT THATS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF WHATS HAPPENS WHEN A ENTERPRIZE WINS TONS OF MONEY WITH A SERIES AND THEN TURNS IT TO A NEW THING JUST BECAUSE IS MORE LUCRATIVE

    really good that there are in the game so the naval battles, because otherwise contained in AC3 and sameness more so this time worsened. the killer already starts strong and does not even need training to matar.fora the pessima optimization that in certain parts falls to 17 fps.ubisoft shot himself in the foot with this game, that really turning this fighter nickel

    Easily one of the best of whole series, if not THE best. This game is just huge. Specially considering the fact it came out in 2013, yeah skyrim and red dead were earlier, but even then. There was absolutely no game that did ship sailing / combat better than this. No competition even. Music (soundtrack) was absolutely fantastic, parkour was better than ever. Still holds up.

    Ну це вже остання гра з тих самих Кредо Вбивць, ігра симулятор пірата, яка довела до розуму механіку з 3 частини. Дуже велика завдяки морському контенту, але головне не перестаратись у їх дослідженні, бо можливо перегоріти і закинути гру, не треба так. Ну - 8 з натяжкою.Ну це вже остання гра з тих самих Кредо Вбивць, ігра симулятор пірата, яка довела до розуму механіку з 3 частини. Дуже велика завдяки морському контенту, але головне не перестаратись у їх дослідженні, бо можливо перегоріти і закинути гру, не треба так. Ну - 8 з натяжкою.

    Il gioco era davvero bello ma per sbaglio ho cancellato i dati di salvataggio quando ero al 70/80% e non ho avuto più voglia di ricominciarlo.

    L'ho giocato diversi anni fa ma mi era piaciuto molto, con ottime ambientazioni e interessanti soluzioni di gameplay, come le navi e le esplorazioni sottomarine.

    Non è un "vero" Assassin's Creed ma è un gran bel gioco.

Ну есть моменты которые очень порой мешают, порой боевая система особенно во время абордажей работает кривовато. Для прохождения игры на 100% нужно будет потратить много времени около 70-80 часов. Игра изначальноОдна из лучших частей серии в которую я играл, большой открытый мир, красивая графика на 2013, интересный сюжет, много разного контента, который в туже очередь очень однообразен.     This is by far the best assassin's creed game I've played, probably because it's mostly a badass pirate game with some boring assassin **** randomly thrown around throughout the campaign. Looking forward to Skull & Bones, where Ubisoft promised to create a new black flag without the boring assassin stuff.

    Best game in series after AC Brotherhood. If you don't view it as an assassins creed game its better because feels more like a pirate game . Story is fine and game-play is on point .
    Easily recommended.

    This game made up for the problems with AC3, namely the lack of fun. ACIV strives to be fun in everything you do, and it succeeds. Even newcomers to the series who just want a pirate game would most likely enjoy this game. Music, graphics, exploration, combat, everything feels excellent. Even in 2019 this game is worth picking up and trying out. You won't be disappointed!

    Pros: + Carribean is living and beatufiul + Huge map full of sites for discovery journeys + Edward is great + Great    Assassin's Creed at it's finest, probably the best part of the whole serie. Pirate theme suits the game well and the surroundings of Carribean are simply beatiful. Ship battles were done in a very funny and complex way. The last true part of the Assassin's Creed serie.

    Pros:
    + Carribean is living and beatufiul
    + Huge map full of sites for discovery journeys
    + Edward is great
    + Great sidequests
    + Excellent ending, probably the best in the whole serie
    + Ship battles
    + Kenway's fleet is interesting and entertaining feature
    + Shanties (great pirate atmosphere at all)

    Cons:
    - Some technical issues (not that drastical as it is described in some reviews here, I needed restart the memory just once, the game didn't drop at all, just few bugs and glitches, better optimalization could be great tho)
    - From the half of the game you don't know what to do with money (it's really easy to get enough of them)
    - Beggining of the story is quite boring and storytelling could be done better at all
    - Presence of typical AC missions like follow the target, listen the target a then kill him, no originality in main missions
    - not challenging puzzles (all of them are really easy)

    Time spent to finish the game: Sth about 40 hours to obtain all collectibles and finish main story.    … Expand

    One of my favorite games of all time and possibly one of the best games Ubisoft has ever made. Their open world design has been hit or miss lately, but back in 2012-2015 they were masters of creating beautiful, interesting open worlds, that were so fun to explore. Very atmospheric game, amazing soundtrack and overall just very good game!

    Siempre me ha gustado la temática pirata y este juego es una maravilla a nivel de personajes e historia.
    Quizás está demasiado centrado en las batallas navales pero no se puede esperar otra cosa de un juego ambientado en la edad de oro de la piratería.

Only problem was optimization. I had cool graphics card when playing that but it get very low FPS. I played ARK Survivor Evolved after that with same PC and get better fps.     Setting: I love the pirate setting. I really got the feel I was sailing the high seas, flying the Jolly Roger. Everything looks great visually. They did a great job designing this.

    Game mechanics: This is my first Assassin's Creed game, and it took me quite a while to get used to the controls, mechanics, and general flow of the game. Vets of other AC games will probably pick it up faster. I loved the mechanics once I got used to them, but the learning process was frustrating at times.

    Complaints:

    Complaint #1: Animus. I hate (is there a stronger word than hate?) the unskippable Animus walking simulator. Some of these scenes are 15 minutes long or more and have nothing to do with the main story. Who in their right mind thinks people want this in the middle of an Assassin's Creed game? Animus is seriously irritating, and almost ruined an otherwise great game. I sincerely hope whoever thought of Anusmus was immediately sacked with extreme prejudice, and permanently banned from the video game industry. Read this, Ubisoft. All we want or need is quicksave, autosave, and save game. Animus and the progress meter sucks.

    Complaint #2: Convoluted "Progress" save game system. This is such a bloated unnecessary mess, and all it does is force people to unnecessarily replay content. If Ubisoft would just use a traditional quick save / autosave / save as system, it would eliminate so much of my frustration in this area.    … Expand

    AC4: Black Flag was first Assassin's Creed game i cared about. Going back in time to 1700's was amazing to say the least. After that i checked out AC 3 and i didn't like it. But AC 4 made me fan and i still play this masterpiece time to time.

    Story is really long and very decent, but to avoid spoilers, i can't really write anything else about that. Main character "Edward" is easily one of the best Assassin's in whole series. He has very good looking Assassin outfit, it has a lot of details and just looks good.

    Sound is okay, but main shining point of this game is it's musical score. Phenomenal score for an 2013 video game. Graphically also stunning by 2013 standard and even by today's standards.

    This is without a question my favorite Assassin's Creed game of all time. Almost feels like it was ahead of time. There's so much to do and explore, graphics are amazing by 2013 standards. Fun story, likable characters, one of the best music they have ever done for these game. Highly recommended!

    I found the character story very well done and the supporting characters followed their historical pattern (for the most part) quite well. The simulated water was very well done. I have played this title several times and have never managed to get through an underwater section without being attacked by a frikkin' shark (with or without lasers). What was disappointing was that the game was heavily boat-centric and levelling up your Jackdaw was far more important than levelling up your Edward gear.

    Pirating other ships was also annoying in that your crew were as useful as a chocolate fire-guard. "I need help here!" F**k me, Jacob! Why bother? Well, taking gunboats, schooners and brigs was simplicity in that the swivel gun was capable of eliminating this entirely. Offing    … Expand

    It's far from classic stealth AC, but I've enjoyed every single bit of it, from leveling up the Jackdaw to crafting the weapons and outfits. Also Edward is quite a character as well.

Some reviews stated that they didn't like the main missions or the main story but for me, it was exciting: Dropping in the middle of the Templar plot and sabotaging their plans, and finding out about the assassins and the secrets that the Caribbean islands hold was a nice trip.

    I always recommend playing older AC games on PC as the console counterparts are way inferior in graphics and performance. This was solved since Valhalla, and I'm pretty sure future AC games like mirage will solid perform on consoles, but older AC games have a brutal difference between PC and consoles.    … Expand

    - Very outstanding protagonist

    - Lots of extra content to do
    - Pirate Ship gameplay is a very high point in this game
    - Aveline's Extra Mission is a no-brainer, but fun.
    - Side game Fleet Kenway fun too
    - Although the Special clothes that give some bonuses are very ugly, they are interesting to be collected and the bonuses are very good.

    Cons:
    - Completely Useless Collectables (Animus Chests and Fragments)
    - Need to disable some graphics functions to run Smooth even with powerful PC
    - Fair to bad BR subtitles

    So far Black Flag was the best game in the series due to the gameplay that is sensational, but the story is still not as good as Ezio's.

The singular disappointment (for me) is the deep sea dives. What should have been a chance to explore shipwrecks in a gorgeously rendered environment ends up a clunky and confusing race from scores of sharks and eels which give you no time to enjoy the hard work that went into these moments.… Expand

    Easily best Assassin's Creed game ever made. I never cared about earlier games, i always knew they existed, but they just didn't interest me. Black Flag changed everything and made finally fan. This huge map full of secrets, pirates history and beautiful graphics for 2013 make it near masterpiece!

    Oh my gosh... assassin´s creed is getting more boring again. First ones were pretty good and AC 3 was the best, but these "pirate thingies" are not so good. Oh yeah... the game also gets easier and more boring, but still... they did a good job.

    The Assassin's Creed series has had a hard time during the last few years, the first few games with Ezio and Altaïr were a huge success and a really fun, enjoyable experience. But during the last few years the experience has become less enjoyable due to a poor story and bugs and glitches.     It's hard to rate this game, although it's the best game of the franchise in my opinion. First of all, the setting is great (nice open world and places just look beautiful) and I really like the way the story is told. The storyline itself is different compared with the other Assassin's Creed games and this makes this game so special (the story which is placed in the background (in the "reality") follows on the events of the third part, but it's as bad as before and occupies only a small part in the whole game) The gameplay is solid and sometimes it seems to be too easy. And now for the problems: The graphics are great but I just don't get it why Ubisoft isn't able to develop a game, since Assassin's Creed 3, which runs smooth on good hardware GTX 680, Intel Xeon E3 1230v3 (30 FPS and worse on max settings)). I'm able to run Battlefield 4 and Crysis 3 on max settings without any issues, but this is a joke. Another joke is the recycling of older games. Almost the whole movement of Edward Kenway is copied from Connor in Assassin's Creed 3. I can believe that they don't have much ideas left, but this is ridiculous. Next thing: Optional objectives. I really like the idea of optional objectives, but sometimes I don't know if the developers even tested them (and don't tell me I'm just a bad gamer).
    At large it's a really good game, but it definitely doesn't deserve 10/10, because it's nothing new, they just changed the setting.    … Expand

Perhaps the locales were too "new" to support one of the big draws of the Ezio series: uncovering mysterious tombs and retrieving artefacts.

AC:Brotherhood took some knocks for its silly villains, but I'll take that camp theatrical scene-chewing over a story that thinks too much of itself any day. AC:R's writer does a much better job this time, supplying a story that carries you along well enough, with many nice little touches in the dialogue and some touches of daft WTF-ery. There's not enough there to make you really invested, and you'll see certain twists a mile away, but as games go it's decent.    … Expand

    Fans that were bummed out by Assassin’s Creed III will most likely find Black Flag to be a welcoming return to what they love about the series, with a great story, amazingly crafted world and smart additions to the sailing that make it a refreshing part of the Assassin’s Creed formula.
