    Freedom Cry is brief and provides more or less what AC4 already does. Because of this, it still suffers from AC4's sometimes chaotic and flimsy combat, and fails to improve upon the stealth system which isn't entirely bad but could definitely be better. The experience is mostly enjoyable, but the story feels stale to me. The idea of gathering forces to rise up against tyranny and revoltFreedom Cry is brief and provides more or less what AC4 already does. The experience is mostly enjoyable, but the story feels stale to me. The idea of gathering forces to rise up against tyranny and revolt has been an ongoing theme that's been done to death in past AC games, and so it feels pretty same-y or unremarkable in Freedom Cry. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and you never really get to see the effects of your liberation.

    overall its a good dlc, but it isnt as good as the base game and lacks features that the main game had. the game doesnt feel as open as the main game. i get that the this is a dlc but the world doesnt feel as engageing and interesting as the main game. the dlc lacks features like secret maps, crafting and few more. this lack of features makes it feel not as good as the main game. there areoverall its a good dlc, but it isnt as good as the base game and lacks features that the main game had. the game doesnt feel as open as the main game. i get that the this is a dlc but the world doesnt feel as engageing and interesting as the main game. the dlc lacks features like secret maps, crafting and few more. this lack of features makes it feel not as good as the main game. there are less locations and they feel pretty bland. in the main game every location felt unique but in freedom cry the islands are bland and feel the same. the exploration is also not as fun and there arent a lot of collectibles. aside from these shortcomings, the game is pretty similar to the main game, which is great. fighting animations are great, and the new machete and gun are awesome. the new story could be much better, but its still good. the games cutscenes are great, and there were really sad and good story moments in them. dialogue is good, making for pretty epic conversations and speeches. the narrative is much more serious than in the main game, and its nice to see such a huge developer make a game on the slavery subject, which isnt explored enough in video games. the music is great and feels appropriate. the dlc is a bit buggy, but nothing major.
    overall its a good dlc. on the one hand, it feels like ac4, but it gives you a bit of a different narrative, which sets it apart. by taking some features away it does loose some of the greatness that the main game has. i get its a dlc but i think the features should have been here, in a smaller scale, and locations should have been more varied.

    For an extra 10 bucks I can't complain too much. Its just simply MORE black flag only your not Kenway and its more focused on slavery than piracy.
    If the story had been more driven like the base game or if it had introduced something that was not in the base game already, I would have rated it higher.

    I played the standalone and for the price you get a decent but short Assassin's Creed adventure. The story and character are a bit more interesting compared to Black Flag and 3. All the original gameplay elements are still there for better or worse. The stealth is still mostly broken and the combat is way too easy.     PROS: + Way more interesting main character than AC4 + Eliminated the stupid fleet minigame + Fewer "Optional Objectives" missions
    CONS: - 9 missions is short - Grinding for ship parts didn't go away - Most frustrating optional objective ever to appear in AC: "don't kill anyone" - Weird "instant combat" bug where guards will sometimes instantly attack    PLATFORM: Steam (XBOX Controller)

    Even the basic concepts of the game seem fundamentally retarded. When attacking a plantation, the slave masters start killing their own slaves. This does not make sense. Can you imagine a farmer shooting his own horses or his own cattle when his farm is attacked? Historically speaking, the most dangerous jobs were not given to    I can't get into the story. A slave is an investment, so the slave owner wants a broken or dead slave as much as they want a broken and dead horse. Dangerous jobs would be given to regular employees because nobody really cares if employees die or get injured. The game comes across as ridiculous historical revisionism. Yes I'm aware that Assassin's Creed games are not supposed to be historically accurate, but this just seems really odd.    … Expand

    Well....basically you do the same as in the main game, but this time you play as a friend of Edward, Adewale. Some new mechanics related to slavery. Story felt not so interesting. Felt a bit rushed, had some logical quest errors.

    As usual for Ubisoft DLCs, I cannot recommend it. Be happy with the main game, this is only more of the same. Zero creativity. The known assassin gameplay from AC4 is present, obviously, since it is just an expansion, but incorporates some new animations for Adéwalé's.     In conclusion, "Freedom Cry" is a great addition to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, thanks to its exceptional protagonist and well-integrated gameplay. Adéwalé's character alone makes the DLC worth experiencing, as it brings a unique perspective to the world of pirates and assassins. However, other elements of the DLC, including the story, may not leave a lasting impact.     This is an average to above average DLC. What I didn't like is that you play as Adie, I hate games where in a DLC you play as a side character, either make a new game or let us continue our adventures with the main character. Hated in in Bioshock Infinite and hate it here. But you can get over that, there were much bigger problems than this.

    Secondly, there are bugs, in the city you get to a hideout, unfortunately for me it always bugs out and it puts me in the air. I also fell under the city once and some of the textures would bug out and disappear when combined with other out-of-zone bugs.

    The add-on also gives hope for what's possible when blockbuster-driven creators take risks with material. There are missteps in Freedom Cry, more ethical than mechanical, but it hits as often as it misses. That's undeniably an important step forward.
