I didn't play a lot of tactical games before, but I really like this one. The storyline keeps me interested in winning the fights, and almost every fight feels like a challenge - the win itself feels really rewarding. The cards are also cool - it's really interesting to prepare for the battles and think about the combinations that will let you win.

A disappointing follow up to a decent game. Ash of Gods went from tactical RPG to a soulless card game with terrible writing and a terrible story. It would be one thing if there was at least some originality to it but 90% of the artwork is literally just copied and pasted from the first game without any of the context. It’s just… very bad…

The combination of deck builder and story heavy (with choices) works really well for me. The game takes you along different tournaments, all with different puzzles you can tackle trough deckbuilding. If you are really into the deckbuilding part of card games, this is the game for you!

Excellent art, good branching story line and a very unique new take on the turn-based tactics genre. Every battle feels different from the last and there are multiple ways to go about winning them.

The mechanics of the Champion battles can at times feel a bit gimmicky however, and require some trial and error from the player, which doesn't always feel great.

A very lovely take on the card game genre, which by now I was burned out from. From what I understand it is different from the previous game: Redemption. Also a big fan of art in the game.

Ash of Gods: The Way is a solid strategic deckbuilder; its strength very much lies in its ability to generate a puzzle-solving feel through a straightforward base ruleset and a wide variety of combat scenarios and conditions. While it ultimately may not last too long in the memory after the fact, the time spent with it is enjoyable and it makes for a pleasing mental workout.

It seems that the producers decided to take a different path instead of making a sequel to Ash of Gods: Redemption. As a result, a nice hybrid of card game and turn-based strategy emerged.

Ash of Gods: The Way from developer AurumDust sets a new standard with how deck-building games should be made. It has the core structure that makes the deck-building fun and familiar, while also adding a thoughtful narrative and a variety of gameplay structures to keep the game engaging and entertaining.
