    So is Arktika.1 that ground breaking VR experience all the promotion material would have you believe? On the one hand no not really, it’s a good looking single-player FPS that’s a VR version of Metro when being really cynical. However, should Oculus Rift owners buy Arktika.1, then that’s a definite yes. There’s a good eight hours of gameplay on the easiest setting, with the hard difficulty just making progress all that more brutal. 4A Games has created a highly refined, polished videogame that’s a joy to play from start to finish.

    In some ways, ARKTIKA.1 feels like a step backward for 4A Games. Puzzles can be a chore to play through and the story doesn’t come close to matching the studio’s previous efforts. Despite these issues, there’s a ton of fun to be had in teleporting from cover to cover, blasting off bandits and monsters with cool guns. There’s little reason to revisit the campaign after one playthrough, but while it lasts, it’s a blast.

    Arktika.1 falters somewhat with a thin story line that doesn't match up with the grandiosity of the game's impressive visuals. Shooting is a natural and genuinely fun experience and level design is immersive, although enemy types and puzzles can start to feel repetitive at times.

Not only is it more atmospheric, it also has some horror elements thrown in for good measure. Using shadows and light in creative ways to change the mood and feel of the different locations and how you handle them. For instance, the more open boss-like areas are always well-lit. While the tunnel passages are dark and gritty, with enemies to match. It gives the game great diversity.
    I love the gun customization options. You could argue that the game is a bit on the easy side. But to be honest, that is how I like it. I just wanna feel like a bad-ass! Touch controls are really well implemented. Puzzles are also quite good, although a bit on the easy side. But I guess that's to be expected. It is a shooter after all. But easy as they are, they are quite creative in how to let the player manipulate the surroundings.
    My only real gripe is with the teleportation system. There's no other option than that. No free locomotion. I caught myself wanting to move all the time, but you can't. Or, rather, you can, but only to the few fixed teleport locations. It's not that it doesn't work, because it does, it's that I miss the freedom to explore. In other words, there absolutely no exploration in this game. And that's a bit sad.

    Looking over the existing VR games, this is definitely one of the gems. If you buy this and Lone Echo, you are set for many, many hours of fantastic VR gaming.    … Full Review »

    ** Хорошая русская озвучка
    * Есть разрушаемость объектов. Не Red Faction, конечно, но тоже неплохо
    * Вроде какой-то сюжет...

    Минусы:
    **** Только телепорты только в определенные места. Сильно урезанная свобода перемещения мною сильно чувствуется, из-за невозможности перемещаться стрейфом, мир не ощущается таким объемным, эффект погружения сильно падает
    * Руки проходят сквозь стены. Очевидно из предыдущего пункта, но тем не менее.
    * Липсинк в русской озвучке. Более отвратительного липсинка я нигде не видел, а это VR игра, в которой мелочи очень заметны.
    * Фонарик. Почему-то все разработчики игр думают, что фонарик - это лазер, способный рапространять свет в очень ограниченном радиусе, вне которого вообще никакого освещения не происходит. Я не требую добавлять поддержку RTX для реалистичного освещения, ведь достаточно же сделать крошечное освещение вне радиуса фонарика, чтобы он выглядел более-менее реалистично
    * Фонарик. Свет от фонарика - спрайт. СПРАЙТ!!! В VR игре! Боже, кто это придумал?!

    Игру может быть и стоит попробовать, если вы новичок в VR, но покупать её я бы вам не рекомендовал. И четверти своей цены не стоит.
