    Got it through xbox Games Pass
    Experienced several crashes, and the game is rather short. The music is interesting in the beginning, but gets old pretty fast. Gameplay was fun though

    Meh. It's very flawed. All levels feel exactly like the first level and no new elements are introduced. It's supposed to be a Hotline Miami clone but it fails at being fun and exciting like HM. Often induces game rage and it's one of the signs of a poor game design.

    Aesthetic and music is great though.

    Ape Out is a wildly intense and colorfully stylized smash ‘em up about primal escape, rhythmic violence, and frenetic jazz.

    Ape Out is one of those hypersimplistic games. You can move, you can smash stuff with your big ape arms, and    Ape Out is a stylish top-down game about being a gorilla escaping from some sort of holding facility. The game has unmistakable visual style, an improvisational jazz soundtrack… and less than an hour and a half of gameplay that involves no more than two buttons and your joystick.

    Ape Out is one of those hypersimplistic games. You can move, you can smash stuff with your big ape arms, and you can grab stuff (people or gates) and then toss them at things. That’s about it.

    The gameplay, thus, is very, very simple, and the enemies, too, are pretty straightforward – just a bunch of dudes with guns, with some minor variations. Really, in the end, it matters only a little; all of them die with one smash into a wall (or another person), and while there are some flamethrower guys who you kind of want to stay away from, by and large, the challenges in the game are mostly very samey.

    And this is really the problem. The game has a really neat top-down style, with very simple but cool looking graphics and a neat soundtrack, but the actual core gameplay is very much “just OK”. There isn’t very much variety, and even at its length, it was starting to feel kind of repetitive.

    That’s not to say that it isn’t challenging; the game does have a sense of challenge to it, and the semi-randomized but still mildly themed levels get increasingly difficult as you progress. But given how limited your ability set is, the game runs out of things to show you very quickly, and it ends up being rather samey, just in a slightly different environment with a new theme.

    As such, it’s really hard for me to recommend this game to anyone. I got it for free on Epic Games, and it’s hard to complain about a free game. But at the same time, it was nothing more than a palate cleanser, and for all its style, it is hard for me to really bring myself to care about it all that much.

    Overall, I can’t really recommend this game. It’s not terrible, but it just kind of lacks substance. If you are interested, know that it is very short and doesn’t have a lot of gameplay tricks to throw at you. It’s all about keeping moving, and smashing.    … Expand

    Juego entretenido, para echar unos piques viene bien, duración de dos horas más o menos dependiendo de la habilidad de cada uno, la carencia de potencia gráfica la suple con un estilo muy particular, acción frenética, a veces es complicado salir de los laberintos, pone bastante a prueba.

    As a jazz lover myself, this was a wet dream come true. The music and the way it is incorporated into the gameplay is definitely the best aspect of Ape Out. Perhaps the difficulty curve is designed quite abruptly, but, in spite of this, you can get a very fun experience out of this game.

    Nudna i brzydka. Długo sie ładuje. Nieprzemyślany kursor. Zawsze mam go gdzieś w rogu. Powinien być zblokowany zaraz przy małpie żeby było widać kierunek ataku. Gra polega na wylosowaniu mniejszej ilości przeciwników na mapie. Czyste losowanie.

    Ugabuga opice pryč, to je hádám vše, co potřebujete vědět o téhle hře. Hra je zábavná, ale prakticky stačí urvat dveře trezoru a vyhrál jsi hru, což celkem tu hru kazí.

    Ape Out's art style and gameplay are unique and fun with excellent adaptive music. The only problem is that the base game is rather short. There is however unlockable harder variants of the which are difficult in an unfun way. Leading you to see the flaws in the game such as it's bad map generation system.     and fun only at the beginning because with the progression of the campaign this game gets so difficult that it loses fun

    Ape Out is the kind of game that makes you glad the indie scene exists. It defines the type of game that is very easy to pick up, but it takes some real practice to conquer. It places pure action over story, with the reward for surviving every encounter being pure satisfaction. Failure is met with an immediate desire to try again instead of groaning in frustration. It's a gorgeous game, but more importantly, it ends way before the premise wears thin. In short, Ape Out easily goes on the list for one of the best titles of the year.

    Ape Out is grueling. Constantly, all in movement and speed, the game will make you live something very satisfying. It is like a little walk before turning into a jam-session that will seem very messy from a distance, for the uninitiated. You'll enjoy replaying it, in the manner of a single good vinyl.
