    Ever since this game released in early access I have had a lot of fun with it, the map is quite big and detailed too,

    Comparing it to the demo of when it was first shown there are differences but quite frankly if the level of detail/fidelity was left that high, this game would not be playable on consoles nor would it be playable on most low end PCs.     Game play is fun and fluid, playing with a full group of friends also makes it more enjoyable, the different Javelins feel and play different from one another wich is great, if you ever go from playing the Interceptor to the Colossus you really feel the weight that Javelin has.

    There is plenty of lore to get through, ranging from collectables that get added to the Cortex (an in game encyclopedia almost), side conversations in the fort, both with you interacting with NPCs or from just passing by and listening into their conversations.

    The main story has a couple of moments where it catches the player off guard and the ending is satisfactory and provides closure to the narrative provided while leaving room for what is coming next.

    The dreaded microtransactions seem pretty fair and are cosmetic only as well as you being able to acquire everything with in game currency too, wich if you do the challenges and daily/weekly/monthly quests you will have more than enough.

    Most people complain about issues that are no longer an issue with the game, they were patched on launch day. Things such as the loading screens, these on a regular hard drive are around 20 seconds right now, wich is well within tolerance. This is not to say that there are no bugs or areas to improve but so far the developers have been very transparent, responsive and took action swiftly to fix any game breaking bugs or mechanics.

    Road maps have been revealed, couple that with free DLC/Expansions and the actors being back in the "recording booth" for extra content already and that shows a lot of promise.    … Expand

    Blows away expectations. I've never had more fun PLAYING a game. The gameplay is outstanding. Is there flaws? Of course. BioWare has been the quickest, most responsive developer of any modern day looter/shooter/GaaS, and I look forward to the longevity of this amazing title.

    People wanted this to be the new Mass Effect, but old Bioware is long gone. What we have is just an entertaining and excellent product that deserve far more than mediocre reviews. Mtx aren't aggressive, cosmetic only and totally purchasable with normal playing. Coop is disgustingly fun as is the whole gameplay experience. It has the potential to grow immensely, and the developers arePeople wanted this to be the new Mass Effect, but old Bioware is long gone.     Wow, the hate train is real. This game is fun, and their ware many hours of enjoyment to be had here (bare minimum of 30-40). That neither equates to empty or unacceptable. It is in no way deserving of such a low average, except when compared to people's demands for what they want, instead of what they got. I would probably guess 7/10, but giving a 10 to counter the unreasonable peopleWow, the hate train is real.     Anthem is not Destiny. It is unique, and although there are some bugs, for those of you who play other games of this type, name one that had a flawless launch. I will save you the time - there aren't any. Anthem is visually superior and the combat is fun.     Frankly, I have to wonder if some of the bad reviews are agenda-driven. As one other review stated, there are plenty of negative reviews that do not specify exactly what is "bad" about the game. Also...I have a feeling that some reviewers do not play long enough to really get a sense of how the game works.

    Regardless, my measurement is simply this: is the game fun? Anthem is fun, in my opinion, and I will be playing it for a very long time.    … Expand

    Loving it so far. It's not perfect but by looking how devs responded so far with updates and bug fixes I know that this game have a lot of potential. Can't wait for the first content updates and events!

    If you rush to end-game, like most people do, of course you will finish it in 20-30 hours. This holds true for 60$ single player games as well.

    This game is breathtaking. The visuals, sounds and combat is top-notch.

    I love the way you experience the story as single-player, but combat is PvE multiplayer. Fighting intense battles and then relax and experience/explore Fort Tarsis for the story. I am having a great time with this game. PS: I am disappointed with all the hate this game is receiving. Especially from YouTube    This game is breathtaking. I'm definitely one of those people. I have a couple of friends on my various gaming app lists, but none of my friends on Origin bought Anthem yet. So I've been matchmaking my story missions and actually kinda enjoying that the pixar quality cut scenes are forced, and that I don't have a friend on the line talking my ear off while it plays out. If I had a friend complaining about "cut scenes in general"(or whatever) in my ear while the story was playing out, I think it would be taking away from the experience quite a bit. Don't get me wrong I love my friends, but I really love my journeys to Bioware's glorious narratives as well. I hope to get some Anthem playing friends along the way to the end game, because I think it would be a fun multiplayer game at that point. I've got about 19 hours in and I just hit level 14(WOOOO!), no rushing here as I stated earlier. Picked the Storm first but I'm now in love with my Interceptor. To put myself in context just let me tell you that I finished all of the main content in ME Andromeda, I think that makes me a Bioware fanboy. However, I'll admit it was drab in storytelling and I skipped the epilogue because the characters had not developed the identities that previous ME games have. It's hard not to give the game a 10 with all the hate, but if I could give it a higher rating I would. I've really enjoyed every moment, and I can't wait to get back to it. I own somewhere around 350 pc games and I know a jewel when I see it. It's not a rush to level 30, there is a great somewhat interactive movie in there. Enjoy it!… Expand

    I guess we all can agree that Anthem has issues... but in it's core, it's actually a real gem. I like this the game. The potential of this game for the future is enormous... time will tell what Anthem grows into...

    Anthem is a game that I have been waiting for a long time. I don't mean Anthem specifically, but rather I have been waiting for the kind of game that Anthem is at it's core. A loot shooter with engaging, addictive combat and absurdly powerful loot that comes at the price of countless hours spent.

    The world is breathtaking. Even while playing on my rig that is nearly a decade old and the graphics turned as low as they go, the vistas and scenery found while flying around the open world are some of the most awe inspiring views I have ever witnessed in a game.

    The combat is the perfect blend of exhilarating, challenging, and rewarding. Rather you are zipping around slaughtering monsters you over gear or going up against foes you have no business attempting while clinging to cover praying you don't get flanked, I always find myself craving more after the last mob falls.

    The abilities, guns, and javelins are surprisingly diverse in meaningful ways for a game at launch. Want to focus on freezing enemies and setting your team up for devastating combos? Check. Want to weaken the enemies resistances and cause your whole team to do massive damage? Check. Want to sit back and snipe enemies with a variety of snipers, marksmen rifles or heavy pistols or maybe you fancy getting up close and personal with hard hitting shotguns. Don't worry, all that and so much more is all here.

    My most ambitious hopes never expected the loot and grind to be so close to my ideal set up. With a, perhaps, too wide array of stats and rolls that range from nearly useless to OMG I'm a god now and a drop rate that I wouldn't budge an inch, you can be guaranteed to spend countless hours taking your freelancer from a barely capable newbie to a being of pure destruction.

    Now, of course it's not all sunshine and rainbows. You move to slow in the hub world. The story is engaging, but nothing exceptional. Load times are excessively long if you are not playing on an SSD. Certain loot affixes are unclear. There is no detailed menu to let you know what your stat values are. There are bugs, varying from minor graphical, to audio canceling, to mission breaking, although, in my experience, they are not overwhelmingly common. Perhaps the worst problem is not getting loot drops when an enemy, even a boss, is killed while you are downed. While none of these problems ruin the game, all of them together are noticable.

    (TL;DR) Bioware has a game here that is exhilarating, addictive, and has more potential for the loot grind audience than maybe any game has ever had. There are problems, yes, but even its current state, the game is easily one of, maybe the, best loot shooters I have ever played. I cannot wait to see what the future of Anthem holds.    … Expand

    To be fair right now this game is a 7/10 with a lot of potential, its direct competitors started similarly lacking a lot of content and had their fair share of bugs too (Division, Destiny, Warframe), the exception to this is Borderlands    Ok, so is this game perfect, ground breaking or a must have?     To be fair right now this game is a 7/10 with a lot of potential, its direct competitors started similarly lacking a lot of content and had their fair share of bugs too (Division, Destiny, Warframe), the exception to this is Borderlands 2 which I still regard as the gold standard of content inside the disk. This isn't an excuse for Bioware though, they shouldn't aim for mediocrity just because their peers under delivered too, but at least it's something to have in mind, but since it's published by EA nobody wants to cut them some slack.

    However, Bioware will be updating weekly with a ton of new monthly content and Quality of Life fixes, and they will be providing FREE story and world expansions. This for me is their saving grace, but people see EA and instantly start flaming, I can 100% relate to that but I decided to give this game a chance and I've enjoyed myself for quite a while now, around 10-12h in 4 sittings.

    The gameplay is super fun, as repetitive as you can expect in any other looter game TBH, it's like criticizing Diablo for just mindlessly clicking on enemies you know, and yes the first 24h after launch I encountered about 4-5 bug/glitches and I noticed that this game doesn't like to run with an overclocked GPU, after I returned the GPU to default settings I haven't encountered a single bug.

    TL;DR it's hella fun, albeit not for everyone and not content rich as any of the previous Bioware RPGs, but it can only get better and better month to month. Personally I don't regret my day 1 purchase since I know that if I get bored I can stop playing and come back when more content is released, but right now I'm really hyped each time I jump in one of my 3 Javelins, each one is a joy to pilot.    … Expand

    Can't understand the low rating, the game is awesome. Flying feels fun, javelin customization is awesome, missions offer enough challenge, the abilities feel really fun, the story is cool, voice acting's real decent with some AAA voice actors too.

    Now the good stuff. First off the ideas that come to life and the size and beauty of the open world is exciting. No other game has ever been like it. The world feels like way Avatar would be. The javelins are painstakingly detailed and every movement in flying, sprinting, walking, and fighting looks amazing. The creatures feel and move realistic.
    Fights and battles feel punchy and great. It is fluid and it keeps you on your toes, dodging, floating and flying to new cover or screaming down from the sky like a crusading angel raining firey death on an army of bugs. You are in a battle suit and when you use supers, the enemies feel it. Animations are perfect, you can really feel your armor. It is well balanced though. Get too carless and the giant alien ape will smash you into pudding like a 3000ton gorillia should.
    The characters are individuals and well rounded, they dont feel generic. The battle banter feels good too, it makes you smile when your charcter makes the bad guys irritated. The conversations in Fort Tarsis are amusing and adds some flavor to the world that Bioware has built. It is a fronteir fort and it feels like one. While Fort Tarsis can feel a bit slow collecting missions there it is ridiculous to throw the game away for it.
    There are a few glitches and frame rate drops here and there but time will take care of that. It is already a very, very finished game. A little bit of tweaking and Bioware will have it down pat. Since it is an online only game maybe the issue is with internet connection. After all a phone line probably just wont cut it. From my experience, if you have reliable internet it plays great. From the sheer quality of the game i could see how bad internet would ruin your day.
    This is really an amazing game. IMHO it is way better than Mass Effect which everyone loved. Anthem really does blow Destiny out of the water, sorry. Anthem is super open world, you are not contantly stuck in a tiny room or on some little path. Anthem has jet pack armor that actually feels like jet pack armor. It feels really real, not cartoony. Mechanics work great and there are no pvp criers nerfing your favorite guns and armor when you need to hit that really hard boss level.
    Do yourself a favor, dont listen to anyone. Be your own person, have your own opinion, and decide for youself that you like the game. Buy it and have a blast.    … Expand

    Played about about 10 hours so far, I haven't had any technical issues, and loading screens don't seem long like many suggest (Possibly because I use SSD?) I really enjoy this game, don't see where the hate is coming from.

    Great game so far, they fixed most of the issues from the open beta. Storyline is good so far, flying and combat is great. Ignore all these 0 reviews, its just anti EA fanboys that probably havent even played the game yet

    Like another complex multiplayer game, have some bugs, but it's funny how we can spend more than 50 hours in a game with a score like this. Destiny 2 got a avarage of 8.5 of critics and 3.0 of users...
    I played thousand hours on destiny 1,2 and the division, the most valuable similar anthem games. Anthem is in right direction.

I think that when it released it was truly terrible but, I can see myself playing this game time and time again. They said that the game is not finished and that they want to fix what is here. Да, диалоги не дают никакой вариативности, но ведь это кооперативная игра , а не сингл. Да, хаб у каждого свой, но открытый мир то общий. Как вы представляете себе, что один игрок пошел по одному сценарию, другой по другому и....что? Как игру у них потом синхронизировать?     Anthem is beautiful and great fun. Playing with friends is a joy. Random matchmaking can be a pain with no way to communicate with your team mates except for specific sections - which is being addressed in the April update.
    Overall the gameplay is a blast.

    Most of the negative reviews come from the ever popular EA bashing. I am not a fan of EA but a fun game is a fun game.

    ... yes, game have bug but patch fix really good, loading screen slow ? go bye SSD guys and a better PC...

    Magnificent, beautiful and huge world! Set of secrets! Dangerous opponents! Very not simple fights which are not simple to be undergone a command and it is already alone even more difficult. I was captured by this game! The only serious shortcoming is an optimization. Still it is necessary to work on it.

    I understand the game is not for every one. and some bugs are not excusable. however the reality is, Bio-ware has released 4 updates since the release and as far as i can tell these updates have corrected most the bugs that i ran into. Also these updates have completely been reliant on community feedback.     If you don't like games the have you repeat content for rewards that make you more powerful, so that you can complete that content on a higher level(Loot Pursuit) then you won't like Anthem.

    However, if you enjoy games like destiny, The Division, and Borderlands, then this is what I'll say,
    the core game play in Anthem is like nothing Ive ever played. Fast pace is an understatement. they nailed the iron man feeling. the 4 classes (Javelins) you can play as all feel extremely different.
    playing with a Storm vs. playing with a Ranger is nearly 2 different games.

    The Story, well i liked it. is it on the same level as a single player game? No.

    is it as good if not better then the other games in the genre. Yeah, i would say so.

    in my opinion there are 3 types of people that are reviewing this game poorly.

    1- Those who hate Loot Pursuit games.
    and for good reason they just don't like this type of game and that's fine.

    2- Reviewers that wanted to get a review out ASAP, and rushed through the game in 2 days.
    Yeah, i would hate a game too if i played it for 60 hours straight.

    3- People who expected a Story driven loot pursuit game, and are disappointed that its not that.
    Which is also a perfectly fine reason, However i never remember that being part of the pitch from the developers, but i could be wrong.

    Anyways, my opinion on Anthem is, it's a beautiful work of art, that has me hooked like no game has in about 5 years. The game play is addicting, the Story is interesting, the world is unique, and i can tell how much Bio-ware cares about this game
    my head says, "Okay, its fun but it has some flaws, give it a 8 or 9 at the most."

    But, when a game is able to bring me back to the days of staring at the clock waiting until i can go home and play it, and that felling of " Okay, just one more" at 2 A.M. How can i not say that this game is a 10? ........ FOR ME.    … Expand

Im over 45 hours in and loved every minute. Have not had any problems with the game crashing. Loading times on my ssd are more than acceptable.     been playing since the game lunched and been having a blast. combat is the best in any looter shooter ive played so far. storys really good, had a twist I didn't see coming. would highly recommend this game. now back to playing some more

    The game is amazing. It allows a very interesting gameplay. The javalins are very different, allowing a new mechanic and adapting to each game. Game with great potential! And I'm very happy so far.

    The game is amazing all the bad reviews are people who haven't played it (or only played the demo). I'd just like BioWare to admit that this was intended as a single player game but EA insisted that it be an MMO.

    I enjoyed this game so much, I swear. I have nothing to complain about the game, it's natural for us to have issue at the first day but I enjoyed it.

    I'm now a Masterwork Storm and I'm grinding for more Legendary items and to complete all the challenges.

    I'm tired of the fandom bringing great IPs to the ground. Even though this game has its faults, the feats this game has accomplished with networking is great. It's evident that the fandom is desensitized to good taste and if it's not an overly polished IP that can be played on a potato, they're not in for the long hall.

    Игра действительно хороша. Я искренне не понимаю то количество хейта и низких оценок в ее сторону. Большую часть косяков и багов исправили и теперь игра доставляет еще больше удовольствия чем в демке, а та мне тоже невероятно понравилась.     I dont care who the publisher is i care about how i spent my time. This one looks really promising though it has flaws like sadly allmost every game (exept Apex Legends) perhaps has at start. Its download times are big - but the story for me is interesting and the gameplay it self is huge +. Looking more from the updates too but still really a game worth to play and try.

    Unfortunately what may well become a great game, is being hammered by people who hate the publisher (Electronic Arts), while ignoring the fact the game developer (BioWare) has launched an original, fun and high quality product. Since the demo, early access and worldwide launch, BioWare have been exceptionally responsive and have demonstrated that that they are both aware of emergent problems on a technical and gameplay level, and are also committed to solving them in the shortest possible time with an eye on a bright future. The road map for the first few months looks very encouraging and they have plans for over a decade of updates.

    All AAA games have bugs and patches galore on release - without exception - and so with Anthem.

    In summary, Anthem had a great foundation on which to build a strong and enduring story franchise - it is fun and interesting, with endearing characters and a fantastic visual look that is miles ahead of anything else I've played. I am enjoying it immensely.

I don't think this is worse than any other game freshly released today and most of it can be probably fixed within the first couply weeks.
    - The story may not be a masterpiece or will receive any academy awards BUT is still better produced and staged than the story of most other games in the genre (like division or destiny) in my opinion
    - Yes there could be more diverse content in the game like more weapons and more different mission or enemies. But if the game really gets regular new content as promised this will get better and better. (And compared to that the other games in the genre like division or destiny also startet with very few things to do, very generic generated missions or doing the same ones over and over or have very few enemy types and had to first get content via dlcs, content patches or add ons)
    - That you always have to leave the open world for new missions is no doubt annoying (especially regarding the long loading)

    Pro:
    - Even though I had this also on the negative side and I could be better but I think the mission design is still quite fun and very challenging on higher difficulties especiallies the strongholds (the dungeon kind of mission) are well made. Overall this can at least compete or is even better than what I have seen in many most other rpg type of games.
    - Kind of the same goes for the story it is still not that bad and compared to other game in the direct genre even quite good
    - The game has for sure one the the most beautiful looking and designed world out there. The graphics are amazing and at least on my system runs perfectly smooth on ultra and 3440×1440p
    - Also I like the sound and soundtrack of the game
    - The ingame store system is one of the fairest stores out the when it comes to real money. First you can buy everything in the store for ingame money (and not even for too much) so the real money is completely optional. Second the stuff you can buy is only cosmetic so it has no impact on gameplay whatsoever.
    - And the really big strength (and what I think is also the most important in a team based grind shooter game): The action combat and movement are for sure one of the most fun I expereienced in games!

    So as a conclusion if you like looter shooter, you will have some fun with game, at least enough to be worth the invest (you can also try it for one month for less with origin access). If you like the genre but your not to sure wait for some updates or discount.
    One thing I can say for sure this is not a completely bad game by any means even though If by far not perfect in it's current state. But this has has an absolutly amazing base and potential to work. And only a couple content patches and improvements could quite easily make this one of the best games out there, at least for that genre.    … Expand

You don't have to spend a dime on MTS. I actually went and spent about 10£ and I have nothing to spend it on. One also have to love the fact that some skins are only for coins and coins can't be exchanged for premium currency.

    It is definitely more fun and engaging than Destiny. And definitely better than The Division. So I really don't get where its the hate comes from.    … Expand

    The game is an amazing looter shooter with awesome and fluid gameplay. It's a live service, so a lot of content will be added later on - for free. Sadly it's cool to hate-bomb games today, so don't believe anyone - try the game yourself!!

    For me, nothing really wrong with the game functionality or it's quality as an overall thing. No game is perfect, yes there have been minute graphical glitches, but I wouldn't call them major issues.
    It overall worked just fine for me. My gaming specs and internet connection are within the right requirements to play the game. Just because the game may not work for you doesn't mean it's a bad game or that it doesn't work, because it has worked just fine for others.

    As a word of advise always check that your platform and connections are updated and within the required specs to play.

    Graphics look great with a lot of attention to detail in the environment and attention to detail with each character, with fluid and natural movements. The game play mechanics is fun and easy to navigate when playing, taking on some of the game play mechanics of MEA, which has been effective to use when engaging with fight tactic and creating strategies for attacks and combos. The story it self is inspired and engaging with a lot of mysteries in the lore that I want to unlock.

    Anthem isn't some half baked product that was put out. There was effort put into making the game and the developers have been transparent about any issues that people had.

    If anything Anthem deserves a 10/10. The game is more polished than MEA in regards to it's production and final product and many major issues have already been addressed and fixed.    … Expand

    After putting about 40 hours into the game, all I can say is that it's excellent. If you love shoot and loot games like Warframe or Destiny, and love the idea of customizing and flying around your own personalized Ironman suit... this is the game for you.     This game, like any, has problems, but the potential for its greatness outweighs those problems. Do not be swayed by the negative reviews here who are really just targeting EA and BioWare is getting screwed in the process.

    Think about destiny 1 and 2, or the division at their launch... They were not finish at all but now they are pretty good. I think the same thing is gonna happen with Anthem, a bad launch but a great life.

    Have been captivated by Anthem since the first login, the game runs smooth and looks awesome. have had no issues so dont see what all the negative feed back is about just see EA haters. Bioware has a real winner here BIG THUMBS UP!

    P.S. For those with load time issues you should invest in two things, A good SSD and faster internet. 90% of your issue lies there...

    Loving it so far. It's not perfect but by looking how devs responded so far with updates and bug fixes I know that this game have a lot of potential. Can't wait for the first content updates and events!

    As of right now i have 30 hrs. Into gameplay: with that being said this game has been this far worth my $60. I have read a lot of negatove reviews on this site and some of them as i had thought are just people who hate EA and want the game to fail. Welp, i can give a crap less.     The game isn't finished! They have big plans to continue to add content, improve gameplay, and are actually responding exactly how you'd want a team committed to their project to respond!

    There's planned and already developed content and they are listening to the customer base to make quality of life improvements. 15-30 hrs of content will likely become 40-50 as new stuff is released.

    This mindset of having to have a fully fleshed out game on release is archaic and problematic for games like this. If the game is fun and playable, why not start playing while it develops even further?

    The largest crowd funded game (Star Citizen) has raised hundreds of millions and doesn't have a released product yet. Its BETA is playable, and I've happily committed $ there too, but I have happily paid for the game knowing what the game COULD become with my support.
    Athena isn't any different. It's a game that they want to grow and continue to evolve. Invest now and support it's development. Enjoy a fun game that's just going to get better.

    All these haters just want to be seen as important nay sayers and are simply restating what each other say... there's no creativity or imagination to their complaints. They're dry and repetitive. Now if only they can evolve with the times. Fully developed games were important to have fleshed out using old technologies like floppy drives.

    Most of the best games of our day continued to evolve. World of Warcraft, Destiny, Borderlands... the attention the game was given post release in each of those cases was far more important than the initial release.
    I'm all but hoping this game has the opportunity to become what it should become before the haters just looking spread salt have their way.

    This game can improve in somethings its true, have some bugs and maybe is slow in the loading. But the game feels awesome with some changes can be a very good game. Maybe its a 8 of score or less but the people with 0, or 1 ? To much haters in this game i cant understand.

    One of the best new games of the last decade. No idea why people are giving this game bad reviews. Solid 10/10 from me and that's with 48hrs+ /played since launch. Gameplay is super fun, graphics are amazing, story is great, this game does not deserve any score less than 8/10. Outrage culture gone too far these days.

    Coming from games like The Division and Destiny, I can say with a level of confidence that this game is in a much better spot to be a knock out. The mechanics are refreshing, with the added mobility of flight that can make the difference between walking away a champion, or lying in a pool of your own blood. And there is always that moment of suspense when you hear a slight ding, letting you know you just got loot, and your dying to see what it is. The world as well, utterly amazing, You could easily just fly (Yes fly) around and find new things for hours, I would know as I have almost 50 hours at this point invested into the game, although I would say 2-3 hours of that is purely in customization. The color options and options available are amazing, and the premium items are so easily earned through in game grinding that you will never have to spend a cent more unless you cannot be bothered spending 2-3 hours grinding out the coin.

    The story is a little generic right now, and the contracts can seem a bit repetitive, and after a little bit you may want a break, and the load screens can be....painful at times (If you are on PC load it onto an SSD, will cut the load time down substantially)

    If you want a game that is like hey day Destiny, or the Division, then this is not for you. If your after a game that looks to be in a much better starting spot then the two, with a greater possibility to expand due to how the lore and world is set up, then this will be by far the best option out there, just dont go in expecting to find the diamond without allowing some polishing to happen first.    … Expand

    I genuinely do not understand the hate directed at this beautiful - richly narrative - experience. While it may not reach the high soaring narrative heights of other Bioware story oriented titles, I found the story compelling and backed up with incredibly interesting codex entries. It takes months of LIVE TESTING to get things working right, sometimes longer.

    It should also be noted that it is a "looter-shooter" game. Looter-shooters are NOT for everyone. They are prone, by function, to monotony, repetitiveness, and, yes, grind. If these are things that bore you, if the nature of the game play itself does not hold your interest, it will not be for you! I HATE Dark Souls - the overwhelming learning curve and stiff-feeling controls make it a horrible experience for me - but that does not mean I think it's a horrible game; on the contrary, I see where some people find it appealing. So why would someone give this game a poor rating if their biggest problem was "I hate the grind"? The answer lies in two letters: EA.

    There is this culture going around the internet lately that involves hating a developer because of the crap their publisher pulls. The amount of hate that EA has garnered lately makes people put an EA labelled blanket over everything they release so that they don't have to look at the actual product and only have to see that "oh, EA made it...must be garbage". Small problems are compounded into HUGE problems to justify this hatred and suddenly these people have reason to feel sick to their stomach at the mere mention of the publisher. It doesn't matter how good they did, it only matters that the sins the publisher has committed in the past are unforgivable in the present.

    Take Origin for example. The Origin Access service is subjectively one of the best deals in PC gaming - $50 per year for a really good (and ever growing) library of fun games. Games that got excellent scores on this website. Yet, because the service is one provided by a company owned by EA, the term "Origin Access" has become taboo in the gaming culture. "What? You have Origin Access? How could you? That's horrible!" You're treated like a leper for mentioning you have it. Why? Because it's cool to hate EA.

    If people remembered that Anthem is a game that might not be for them, if they look past the fact that it's labeled with the two most dreaded letters in gaming, if they forgive it it's flaws for being a live service game, then maybe they could see the gold beneath all that mud. Maybe people would notice that the developer chose not to monetize anything but cosmetics and are actually listening to the complaints of the player base and TRYING TO FIX IT. Maybe people will see that the game is actually fun to play if you're "into that kinda thing". Maybe.

    Or, you know...the scores could chase away future players and we could lose an actual fun game to the annuls of time. It should be noted that I actually thing this game deserves a 7 out of 10. It's fun, but not "YOU MUST PLAY THIS GAME BEFORE YOU DIE" fun, as a 10 out of 10 would suggest. But the OVERWHELMING number of crap reviews must be balanced to bring this game to it's actual deserved score...and my 10 will help in that endeavor...if only a little.    … Expand

    After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

    If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

    It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
