    Original Review------
All I can say is i'm enjoying playing the game, the combat is fun and the world is a nice size and looks amazing. There are so many javelin build options and different loadouts can be saved which keeps me wanting to try different play styles. So far I cant see why the game has such a low score. Yes there are things that can be improved like some of the UI and tweaks to the loot but these so far for me have been far from game breaking and things they have said they are working on to get the balance right.

i've probably got about 50 hours in so far of mostly solo play and still feel like I have allot of hours left to play. Also during that 50+ hours I've had 1 audio glitch and lost connection once which is no where near as bad as other games I own that no one moans about. Allot of bad reviews seem to be from when the game was in early access and the game has had allot of patches since then and the team seem to be hot on updates.

There have also been many suggestions from the community that they have liked and want to implement in updates, so the game has even more to look forward to. I just think its sad that most games have big day one patches and patches after release to fix issues and they dont get loads of crap about it but for some reason everyone seems to be wanting to jump on the hate train for EA and Bioware.

Just to add as well about the hate train, which is happening, I have watched allot of youtube videos which have been full of hate for things that had already been patched before their video was
even made, or things that are not true and just internet rumours stating they are fact with no sources to back it up.

I thought it had similarities with Destiny 2's campaign except for this arbitrary named power that we have no understanding of and being sought after by another arbitrary vague enemy. This helps. The fort is quite nice to see the different people. Customization is extremely deep with both javelin loadouts and fashion. The only thing they need to add in my opinion is more content. The controls are pretty solid, takes a bit of getting used to, but are quite good once you get used to them. The music is phenomenal and the art design is top tier. Expand

Anthem is a great game for those who enjoy the looter shooter genre. You didn't come here to hear detailed analysis that you've already heard 100 times over. Let's get down to it.

    Pros:
-The combat is punchy and difficult. At times it can feel extremely hectic and disorienting, but pulling off those combos and last minute evades is what separates the Freelancers from the Sentinels.

-The story is actually interesting. This story is not the most deep dive into a narrative as some other bioware classics, but it is engaging and the cinematic scenes are well shot, and well animated.

-As you continue through the game (as many reviewers would know IF they actually played the game) you get to watch Fort Tarsis grow, become more populated, and hear and feel the sounds of a bustling city. It's a rewarding experience

-Each of the four available classes feels unique, and has a distinct purpose in team composition. The build diversity available allows for memorable team synergy

-FashionForge is on point. Some of THE best player character customization out there in any third person game. You don't even have to pay for color palettes.

-The flight system is just plain fun. The combat is fun. It's just fun

    Cons:
-As of the official release, there is a distinct lack of mission variety in regards to your contracts. Your quests and agent contracts, however, do help to breathe new life into the repetition of these mission types.

-Optimization is poor. If you don't have a good system, don't expect to get past the medium settings pre set

-There are still occasional audio bugs. I believe this is related to the newest nvidia driver (as it happened to me after updating) but can't confirm.

Honorable mentions and things to remember:
-Load times have been reduced by 25-30% in the full release (per angry joe himself)

-No one has reached the true end game of anthem. It simply isn't possible. While it may be true that there isn't a lot of original content at end game, no one has reached the highest possible loot tier. Don't trust people who tell you otherwise.

-Masterwork and Legendary gear is unique (many reviewers would know this well if they'd bother to get past uncommon gear score)

    In Summary:
Anthem is a blast to play solo or with friends. When you're killing trash mobs, it's a god simulator. When you're fighting legendary and elite enemies, it's a challenging and harrowing experience. The only times anything except your enemy's shield should feel like a bullet sponge is if you don't know how to play the game. This game isn't perfect, and if had launched with some additional content, and many more QOL changes regarding technical issues, I would be able to give it a higher score. I imagine in a week or two, it will easily be an 8. I'm hoping we get there, and keep on going up.

    Strong Alone, Stronger Together.

Having played Anthem since the launch on Origin Access Premier last week, these are my thoughts on how Anthem lives up to the hype and hate for those who care about my simple opinion that is.

    Economy:
Microtransactions have been a black eye on the gaming industry for a while now but BioWare seems to walk the tightrope here. Currency consists of Shards and Coins, Shards can be purchased with real-world money while coins are earned in-game. The purchase of 500 Shards, for example, translates to $4.99 in real-world cash. The most Shards a player can purchase right now appears to be 4,600 Shards for $39.99. In other games like Destiny 2, Silver goes up to $50.00 dollars and Fortnite has a $100 dollar option. Coins are earned in-game by completing contracts and missions and you seem to get a fair amount, in just under five hours I have amassed over 10,000 coins, not to say someone who is better at the game wouldn’t earn more at a quicker rate. As of right now coins and Shards can only be used on crafting materials and cosmetics so no real pay to win right now.

Loot: The loot feels boring and honestly needs to be done better, you fight and win the enemy drops a glowing triangle and that is all you see until the end of the mission. That is when you find out what exactly you got. I understand why they did this but, when the loot is so underwhelming to begin with, this waiting doesn’t help. A rare pistol looks exactly the same as a common one of the same types just a different color.

    Load Screens:
Here there is a problem with this game as loading screens can take far, far, too long and break all sense of immersion. Want to launch a mission? LOAD SCREEN, need to fix up your Javelin? LOAD SCREEN, Die? LOAD SCREEN, and you get the point. The load screens wouldn’t be such an issue, but it can take minutes for these if you are using a standard HDD and not an SSD. Hell, Angry Joe had to wait over five minutes for his mission to launch. BioWare has promised to fix this issue before the main launch of the game this Friday so we will have to see if they keep that promise.

    Environment:
The game looks amazing when you leave Fort Tarsis and enter the world. Plantlife, wildlife, and enemies are varied and look amazing. BioWare clearly put their best foot forward here as this is where the game shines.

    Enemies and AI:
The enemies of Anthem are varied however a little predictable as you have all the boxes checked. That isn’t to say they aren’t fun to do battle against and the AI makes them a challenge as more than once I found myself being flaked by the AI, which will also take cover and attempt to dodge.

    Story:
Sadly, Anthem’s story isn’t the greatest, especially when compared to BioWare’s other works like Dragon Age and Mass Effect. That isn’t to say it is bad it just isn’t very strong though it can evolve as this game does over time. I have a personal theory that Anthem takes place in the Dragon Age Universe but there is nothing official about that. If BioWare were to weave the two story arcs together I think it would be a stroke of genius but only time will tell if I am right.

    Missed Opportunities:
This game looks and plays how Mass Effect Andromeda should have but BioWare and EA would never admit. It is my opinion that Anthem took resources away from the Mass Effect franchise, Development of the game started in 2012, immediately after the release of Mass Effect 3, under the supervision of Casey Hudson, the executive producer of the original Mass Effect trilogy. So to say BioWare put Mass Effect on the back burning isn’t a big leap of faith. We all know how that turned out for Mass Effect and time will tell how it will turn out for Anthem. Part of me loves the fact that we are getting a new IP from BioWare and part of me wishes they would have stuck to the format that has worked from them this far.

    Final Thoughts:
Anthem is a fun game when it works, and combat is fast-paced and smooth. It needs polish right now and we will see if BioWare fixes load times and bugs. The story isn’t a typical BioWare one but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing but if you buy this game thinking it will be like Mass Effect you are going to be disappointed. As much as I want to recommend you go out and buy this game I would hold off until at least two major patches are live or until the loading issues are fixed. My score for this game at today is a 6/10 and if they fix the loading issues this game is easily an 8/10 and a must-own for anyone who loves third person shooters with some RPG mixed in.

-You hit end game and there is no PVE or PVP incentive to continue playing
-Making new friends in game is not really possible
-The playstyle you fell in love with is incompatible after GM2
-The story is like nails on a chalk board you hate most of the characters (I DESPISE Dax with a deep seated hatred that I cannot understand)
-The world is dead until the gods randomly port stuff for you to shoot

All in all, I am glad it was only $15. I will cancel for now and just wait for the rest of the game to come out of the oven. Two can play at this "live service" shenanigan. I appreciate the "promises" of future content, and I look forward to coming back when it's out of the oven. But I am not paying for them to finish their dev cycle.

The game can't motivate to come back and explore the world and play the game.

There is no fluidity in the game and loading screens really kill the pace (I can watch a movie alongside playing anthem - that says enough)

Anthem is a good game. It's not awful and it's not great either. It is "good" with the potential to be great. Many of its good features such as combat and customization are enough to mask most of the underlying flaws to have a fun time with it. I've had fun playing Anthem and will continue to play it for a while moving forward. But I'm not extremely addicted to it like most had hoped to be and it's not the sole game I'm playing right now because it's not good enough yet. The game has good bones and I expect it to evolve well in the next months. Comparing it to The Division would be unfair as it's far better at launch, but it has the same kind of potential to grow into its shoes long term.

    Pros:
Most Beautiful Open World Game Available
    Great Combat/Combo System
    Great Customization
Good Story (Nothing groundbreaking but good for the genre)
    Great voice acting
    Great Face Animation
    Microtransactions are Purely Cosmetic

    Cons:
    Just OK Quest Variety
    Occasional Long Load Screens
Weapons Don't Feel Good at Lower Levels
Graphics felt a bit unoptimized. You'll need serious horsepower
    Menus are clunky
Content is sparse at launch (15 - 20 hours)

    At launch, this is a $35 - $40 game

Despite all of the issues I still have a lot of fun playing the game. Many issues reported after the launch (15th) have been fixed (not all tough) and in my personal experience, they weren’t that gamebreaking to begin with - but I guess I was lucky not to encounter them.

The game is faaaar from perfect, but not even close to the buggy, underdeveloped, cash-graby asset flip of Fallout 76.

    Pros:
    - Fast paced and dynamic gameplay. Jumping, flying, dashing, charging, shooting - it all feels very fluid and responsive. Blasting hordes of enemies with your abilities, dodging incomming attacks by doing barrel rolls midair or flaying inches above the ground still feel fresh and give me a ton of fun, even after 90hours of game time.
    - Characters are played very well and animations in in-engine cut scenes are realistic and fluid. The actors did a great job, even if writers did not.
    - Best served with friends. Even if they're new people you've just met on a Discord you've joined a day before the launch. Ton of fun to be had, lulz, facepalm moments, mutual support and cheering for other team members. If you want to get most of the game - join a Discord server and start playing with others.
    - Up until certain point, the progression is rewarding, with first couple of masterworks or legendaries bringing shouts of joy. Unlocking higher levels of gear, abilities and components is fluid and natural (until Masterworks rank.)
    - Cosmetics can be obtained with in-game currency. Challenges (and there's a lot of them...), alliance system, daily, weekly and monthly challenges, world chests and even some monsters drop coins all the time. There really is no need (at least now) to spend a dime on "premium" currency.

    So-so:
    - Main story: Too many forced puns, predictable turns of events, short. Actors playing the characters redeem it somewhat, and the final ending of last fight caught me by surprise. So yeah, even tough it’s bland it has its moments.
    - Cosmetics: so far only 2-3 additional skins for every Javelin and some semi-interesting vinyls. We still don’t know the pricing of legendary skins, so it can turn out, that those 200k coins I’ve accumulated so far are not enough (epic skin sets: 61k, rares: 52k.)
    - Small amount of masterworks and legendary items. Some inscriptions (main mods of a weapon) need rework - they’re either meaningless or game breaking overpowered.
    - Sound: music is great, with vibe and ambience perfectly suited for the environment (my personal opinion…) Sound effect could use a little work, especially weapon effects sound hollow or flat in some cases.
Chatter in the city or soundscape in the wilds is also lacking.
    - Although the graphics are great, they are at times a far cry from what we saw in the first trailer, especially when it comes to lighting and world details.
    - Masterworks components are locked behind disproportionately high grind. Odd, given the fact, that using masterworks weapons unlocks their blueprints quickly.
    - World is nice, but lack variety and life. Exploration and world events can only last you so long, but first dozen or so hours is fun.

    Cons:
    - After 90 hours I’ve pretty much consumed all there is to the game… Cataclysms, legendary contracts, new strongholds, new loot. I know it’s been less than a week from opening access to wider audience, but if one week of hardcore gaming led me through everything there is…
    - Most legendary weapons and abilities are underwhelming at best, flat out useless at worst.
    - Affixes (additional modifiers to every item) are pulled from one table, regardless of the item type. Example: you get a masterwork weapon you wanted, but every single affix rolled affects different weapons… BW already promised to fix that in near future, but for now - no point in crafting, as it’s a crapshoot.
    - Loading times: on HDD they’re bad, on SSD they’re comparable to other big world games. Still - there’s a lot of them, especially when switching between different UIs.
    - Speaking of UI - both UI and UX are baffling at times. Example: you load into the Forge to equip your Javelin, you remember you wanted to finish couple of challenges, which require you to use a certain ability or weapon. You can’t access the Journal to look them up, you need to exit the Forge, check the required weapons and abilities, load back to Forge and pray to God Emperor of Mankind that you remember the names right…
    - Repetitive missions and world events. It’s really only a handful of scenarios, which differ only in narrative, while the main loop boils down to: fly there, shoot stuff, do something, fly there, shoot stuff, do something…

There is only one unacceptable and unforgivable crime this game commits. It becomes boring.
After around 4-5 hrs of gameplay I found myself staring at the map and realising I just don't want to choose the next mission. The magic just suddenly ran out when I saw how much I have to grind to move further. I was lvl 13 or smth and it just was no fun at all. I didn't even care for story anymore, that was what that awfully unimaginative grind mechanics did to me. I'm sorry Bioware, I love you and I tried to love this game.

it is presented good, the world looks amazing, the suits look badass, the sound thats captured is good too, when youre the collossus the footfalls of your walking tank shows that its just that, a bloody tank.
the gunplay is simple, as stated simlar to mass effect 3 but with the addition of a jetpack, which is awesome, the enemies can be tough, when you think about it who in their right mind would be able to take on an outpost that has defenses and such solo? sure with gear its easier but the game is a bit more difficult solo which is alright as it wants to be played like a coop shooter.
the customization you can do is awesome, i applaud bioware on what they did as to me it almost feels like your customizing a car from saints row 2, i do like the customization
the content, this is were everyone could have an issue, i know i do.
the story seems kinda goofy, i understand they heard a lot of complaints about destiny 2 and warframe so they tried to lay it out for everyone plainly, which again is understood but im sure they couldve come up with a better way to show the story, or have it play out but thats me.
sure they dont have a whole butt load of weapons or javelins yet but as stated in the beginning, neither did warframe, i think before we write this off solely because its EA, we should give bioware a chance to put some effort into it, the game has potential, and i see that becuase i can see where they are trying to make it accesible to everyone, but yes they do need more content, more of everything essentialy but i have faith in them
the freeplay mode i think i can best describe as a squad going out on patrol, the world events that happen are cool concept as you could just be flying around collecting whatever or exporing and a random attack or whatever will happen, yes there are only so many things that do happen, like 4 different world events or something i dont know im guessing here, but has any game really made you feel like your out of the safety of the city walls to make sure nothing gets close enough to destroy it? i really do feel like me and my squad, be it friends or randoms, are tasked with patrolling the area essentially and i do admit it does feel kinda cool.
again i am saying i am NOT a fanboy, just a guy that has played the game and enjoys it for what it is, it does need a lot of work yes, but we have to give them a chance, they choice comes down to the person buying it, if it appeals to you check it out, in time im sure it can be a really fun game with raids even happening that needs not just a squad of 4, but maybe a unit of 8 javelins to win

Overall Anthem was a fun experience. The gameplay out in the world is very exciting & fun to play. Inside the fort feels kind of unnecessary. This game could do with a lot of streamlining, but the foundation as far as the actual Javelin gameplay is extremely solid.

For reference this is after 25 hours played & reaching level 25. This score could go up over time as small issues get resolved, but many of the "issues" like loading screens, were a non-issue for me (never had a load screen over 15 seconds on PC, most were done within 10). They will need to keep bringing the content, but this game felt significantly more *FUN* on launch, than when I tried Destiny 2.

The game is not bad at all. Very dynamical fights and pretty damn good picture quality even considering it was nerfed a lot from E3 trailer. But that's all what is positive in game right now.
Dull story full of cliché; empty world; uncomfortable inventory; etc.
It should be a hybrid game (game service if you want), but as of now, it looks like a pack of multiplayer maps with same bundle of activities.
There are no script-scenes, good story and story twists, variable of missions and step-by-step world exploration where you can get something new with every new mission.
There is no scoreboard, big hub / socializer for players, no proper stats exploration and comparison with others, no clues on what other characters are wearing, you cannot identifier player's level or equipment. Indeed there is a freaking good suit customization, but that's pointless as it serves only as cosmetics.
The only service that is offered is grind for now. Not really good to call it AAA complete release.

I do not know how the endgame will be but so far I enjoy it, and the action part is very well done.
I didn't want to spend 60 bucks for the whole game so i bought the origin premium access, so playing for 15. and probably will cancel the subscription next month.

I played the game since launch and after a few patches the loot has gotten better with more better equipment dropping but to be honest all the weapons and equipment are almost the same and the added stats or bonuses are pretty "meh". 15% ammo pickup, 5% repair pickup and some generic stats...compare to games like The Division, this seems laughable but I could be wrong because I haven't got any legendary gear yet even after finishing the story.

I saw alot of people complain about the loading screen but to be honest it isn't really that bad although there is quite a lot of loading screen from 10 sec to 30 sec. It is not game breaking but just seems unnecessary and still bearable.

Bugs is probably my only concern for this game because of its mechanics. Loots collected during game will only registered after completing the game and going back to the completion menu. There are times where finishing games will not go back to completion menu or in the middle of the mission you will be disconnected from the server. It is pretty frustrating seeing all the loots you got just disappear. Met with a few game breaking bugs where I just fall into an endless pit and never was able to finish the mission. Even the last mission the whole team was stuck behind a door mid way fighting the boss and we all have to quit.

Well everyone is saying Bioware makes great story and decision making game but sad to say I skipped most of the story here because it is pretty boring and nothing memorable.

All in all, I think a normal person will still enjoy this short game and don't expect the loot to be like borderland or The Division. Anthem is designed to be itself, and if play it without expecting it to be anything other than itself, you will not be disappointed but is it worth your $60? I would say yes if you have no other games to buy and no if you wanted to buy The Division 2.

I can only review the experience I had from 15 Feb 2019:

The Good: amazing graphics, especially the world; flying about firing off abilities
The Bad: unbearable loading times, constant server disconnects, bland missions, rubbish Strongholds, worthless loot, weak guns, awful city hub full of vapid dialogue.

Things had improved by 22 Feb: but overall it's still an unfinished, beautiful mess.

The game play was neat but ultimately it felt a lot like bullet soaking. There was a lot of 'variation' to abilities and guns but it ultimately just felt like a knock off version of Destiny.

You walk everywhere in between your 'quest grabbing and talking' you do a lot of 'flying' to your locations and it just felt slow. If you play with your friends then you have to also wait for them which could really burn a lot of mins if someone goes afk to get a soda or something along those lines. While that's not a fault of the game it still make things just slow and monotonous. Getting good gear is well I'm sure you've heard about how that is by now...

If you just want to kill time and play with friends then go for it I guess.

There are too many on the web and I say it with regret, hypocrites that praise what makes them comfortable, while destroying games that could give and want to give a lot.
The community has become a mess of false ideas that follow the mass without giving voice to the reality of the facts. For me this game also deserves a 75, those who rated 0 in my opinion should sell PC / console and go to make embroidery in tailoring. I'm outraged.

First impressions the game is the best looking I have ever seen, after a while you start seeing some bugs but not game breaking, clunky character models in combat, glitched boss loot and the long load times of 40 seconds plus. At this stage of the game its would be a 4 or a 5 rating.

22nd day one patch was released and it improved every thing in the game, all issues that i had encountered all fixed even with 10-15 sec load times, bioware also just released a road map for the game with all free dlc. It takes other devs longer for these things.

The missions are interesting to complete, but they are all like twins, in the middle of the story there is a feeling that you are doing daily missions).

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
