    Unfortunately after twenty years, the engine of the game remains the same, there is not a single curve, there are no different angles besides the same 90 ° ones, it's pity. It looks like a expensive Anno 1404 mod, with huge maps limitations, which will be filled with DLCs.

    Its just another Anno. Yes it looks cute but the fps drops and the bugs are just so bad! Yet another failed start of an anno. We do remember the first launch of an anno where people couldnt even start the game for days before they released a patch? Good old times! People are way too hyped over a franchise. Also they removed the whole battle on land. No more soldiers or any tactical aspectIts just another Anno. Yes it looks cute but the fps drops and the bugs are just so bad!     After a few hours of play, I hit a bug that prevents progressing the campaign. The issue is there since the launch of the game, with no acknowledgment from Ubisoft and plans to fix it. Since there is only one save slot you can't roll back the game state, the only option to restart the whole campaign with the hope you will not hit the bug again. It kills the joy in the game.

    Would love, but I cant review this game without talking about Uplay. It is a requirement for this game, no more Steam support. This decision probably helps to improve some financial report but also kicks out from the platform anyone without infinite patience setting up Uplay. The biggest difficulty in this game is to fight your way through the ridiculous payments/install system of Uplay. Prepare your evening for this nasty first round.

    - There are so many progress-breaking bugs in the campaign that it feels like an alpha version (try to enter the new world as early as possible or don't be in war with anyone when you arrive there!)
    - You can't change the game speed in multiplayer, while the game feels so slow that it sucks the life out of you.

    - The Ship AI is terrifying bad. The ships will chase anything forever, dying in enemy harbours (default stance)

    - The Enemy AI is practically non-existing. I don't get how a big company like ubisoft can release 7 Anno games and still not be able to program a half-decent enemy AI.
    --- Basically the enemy plays by cheating their a** off, making any kind of strategy pointless.
    - Trains are super disappointing (if their announcement got you excited), the only thing they transport is oil

    In this current state i can not suggest this game to anyone. It has a lot of bugs, especially in campaign mode. Bugs preventing you from successfully finish the campaign. This bugs were known from the start of the game sales. 5 months have passed but they still have not fixed this bugs.

    Un jeu très décevant qui ne montre aucune évolution notable de la série, mais nécessite une configuration titanesque pour tourner. L'interface est assez brouillonne et les personnages peu charismatiques. Le doublage en français en catastrophique, il n'y a aucune synchronisation labiale.

    Le coeur du jeu lui-même n'est qu'une énième répétition de ce que l'on faisait déjà sur les versions    Un jeu très décevant qui ne montre aucune évolution notable de la série, mais nécessite une configuration titanesque pour tourner. J'ai dû recharger une très ancienne sauvegarde, et c'est très gênant quand on passe des heures à régler les choses au millimètre.

    Dernier point, les révoltes de paysans ou d'ouvriers sont très pénibles : à vrai dire, il n'y a aucun moyen réel d'agir dessus. Je regrette vraiment mon achat, et non-remboursable.    … Expand

    DON'T BUY IT. CAMPAING UPLAYABLE FOR MANY PLAYERS SINCE 2019 TILL NOW (NOV 2021). Just bought complete edtition. Started campaing from scratch with all DLC enabled. First mission with ship was ok. Next mission impossible to complete. No tasks/no possible to progress. Have 1000+ population, can't remove any ruins, can't upgrade houses, etc...     I was able to play it for about 2 hours. After that it just keeps crashing to desktop if i try to start it.

    Bought the game 2 days ago.

    Still doesnt appear on my uplay.

    Wrote to customer support, received automated reply saying a human will reply to me in 24 to 48 hours during "opening days" so 2 days later since it was on saturday.

    I m never ever buying a ubi game in my life again, just put your games on steam instead of running the slopiest digital game platform ever.

    I started with the story and found the story was overshadowed by the gameplay. I wasn't interested in the story, but it did give the game some much needed structure for someone who has never played any Anno before. The game took a couple of hours to learn and at this point it feels like second nature.

    There's a class system which begins at farmers, workers and moves up all the way to tier 6. In order to fulfill the needs of higher tiers you'll have to send out a ship on an expedition to South America, this way you'll be able to crate an intercontinental trade route and supply your population with goods such as rum, coffee, cigars and cotton.
    There's a nice complexity to this game, it shouldn't be over whelming after your second playthrough. I'm on my second play through and I'm working on optimizing my main island by refining trade routes and delegating certain island to specialize in certain goods, such as having farmer only island or an island that specializes in heavy industry (steel weapons ect).
    Once you've learned an optimal build pattern then you'll find the game becomes quite easy, as untidy management will slowly become an insidious killer, not just because untidy=not optimal, but become the mess will overwhelm and confuse you.
    Take your time, play the game on easy, you're meant to be able to chill and play with a slight bit of stimulation.
    I found myself unable to sleep as my mind was abuzz with planning how I would structure my settlements. I planed to remove all farmland and low tier industry and delegate production to my lesser islands for import, this would create more room for housing while simultaneously improve the attractiveness of my city by remove ugly industry.    … Expand

    My problem which was not solved today that i currently can't play the game due to the Ubisoft Launcher, i can't start it, i opened a ticket it was solved but after 1 week same again issue happened,

    im sorry Ubisoft but this is a big negative for you as now i bought a game which i can't play.. and unfortunately i was out of refund

    When you start the game you'll be confronted with a dozen DLC's you need to buy, since it's a Ubisoft game.

    Game can be nice, but the "Ubisoft Connect" force is the worst.

    And even more worst is the ubisoft "Support". I payed such a hugh amount of money for the complete edition of this game (150€) but im not able to play it and the support dosnt help me. i switched my mailadress with the ubisoft support years ago. and now they force me to verify with my old emailadress which was allready    Game can be nice, but the "Ubisoft Connect" force is the worst.

    Anno 1800 is a visually stunning, incredibly compelling management-strategy game. One thing of particular note is just how great and addictive the gameplay loop is, hooking you in as you watch your cities develop and expand, made all the better as you unlock and build a wide variety of buildings. There are slight issues though, with an unintuitive UI and trade system, which due to the way resources are spread around the game can be irritating. Simply put, Anno 1800 is an incredibly addictive and engaging game, with a few flaws, but nothing that stops it from being a great entry in the series.

    Once, RTS were a challenge that required quick thinking and foreplanning, never afraid to humiliate inept player. Today, they’re exact opposite, eager to please paying client. Anno 1800 is a perfect example of such strategy: good-looking, predictable and forgiving. [Issue#238, p.48]

    A great strategy game from a gripping period of our history which is remarkable when it comes to building. The rest of the game elements aren’t as good, but they do the the game and the authors justice. Anno 1800 is a safe bet. [Issue#295]
