I give AC: Fight Back all the respect I can as a standalone expansion, but when you take a close look at it, it may only appeal to hardcore fans.
-
The wargame complexity requires a certain degree of unit and structure-building micromanagement which will appeal more to the dedicated RTS player or wargamer, rather than someone looking for a fun genre game that distinguishes itself with an additional layer of realism.
-
It does not offer an overly satisfying experience, for while it is rife with large-scale battles, containing literally thousands of units, it also contains a lot of superfluous micro-management that just does not quite fit in a game of this variety.
-
The strategy, combat, and even history lessons are excellent.
-
If you played American Conquest then you've already (essentially) played Fight Back, and if you havent played American Conquest yet, Id recommend you play that game instead.
-
Appeals to a more dedicated fan of this genre. It requires some reading of the manual and experimentation. There are many nuances and frustrations that will lead the casual gamer to frustration and ultimately to other games.
-
Fans of the American Conquest and history buffs can look forward to more grand battles on a truly epic scale. For everyone else, there are plenty of better RTS games to play.
-
This brings me to my main complaint about the game: the ridiculous level of difficulty. Even on easy mode, the CPU will trounce you, and there's almost nothing you can do about it. This is due, in part, to the highly aggressive AI, but it's mostly the game's weak interface and awkward gameplay mechanics that hinder you.

-
Fight boredom and micromanagement by avoiding this lame stand-alone expansion.
