It is wonderful that there are still really entertaining games you can find in this genre. Fans of adventures and the Victorian England should try to solve the riddles about Sir Williams' corpse.
-
While Black Mirror was a great game from Future Mark, they are struggling to follow up to their hit ever since. Alter Ego "convinces" with inconsistencies in the story telling department as well as dated graphics.
-
Alter Ego offers a thrilling story combined with simple puzzles. If you are willing to accept a lot of walking around and old-fashioned graphics you'll be rewarded with an entertaining game.
-
Alter Ego would make a nice starter adventure title for someone new to the genre but for someone seeking a challenge it wouldn't be my first choice. It's definitely worth a play though.
-
Ultimately, although it definitely suffers for its extremely ill-conceived finale, Alter Ego shows significant improvements on some of the problems that plagued Future Games' previous projects, and in fact is probably the best game the developer has produced to date.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Great screenplay is downed by overall playability. Splendid moments take turns with boring ones and even the final shocking conclusion will not remove the overall bad taste. [Issue#195]

Jun 5, 2011Alter Ego has a good basic gameplay but everything else is riddled with flaws. The puzzles are too simple, the ending is disappointing and the animations just aren't impressive.
-
If this was the final project of a programming student who waited to the last minute to complete, then we can at least chalk up all the errors and poorly written storyline as factors needing improvement. Sadly this is not the case.
-
A boring story, a dreadful ending, and easy puzzles bury this dull point-and-click adventure.
