Game InformerThis iteration is good enough to make Matt holler with delight, but the action seems to have been turned up to a frantic pace. [Oct 2002, p.93]
-
This title doesnt advance the series; its really more like a watered-down version of AVP2.
-
PC GamerThe story's perplexing, the AI is unimaginative, and the Predator and Predalien missions just aren't that interesting. [Nov 2002, p.146]
-
I imagined many cool innovations in terms of gameplay - and let me tell you, I found only a few. But then, sometimes I have a vivid imagination and it's a shame that this expansion pack cannot fulfill even the slightest portion of it.
-
If you found the first game to be very challenging, this expansion has the potential to frustrate you to no end. It also lacks the elements that made the first game suspenseful and packed with atmosphere.
-
A serviceable expansion pack but casual fans need not apply as it can in no way be considered essential to the original.
-
With aliens preying upon predators, it becomes brute force upon brute force, making it less about finesse and more about action. That in itself does away with the horror and terror that the franchise, both film and game, is known for.
-
Boring, stale, frustrating, and plain, Primal Hunt tarnishes the good AvP name and pulls us further out into a cartoonish and overtly straightforward sea.
-
This expansion seems to ignore most of what was good in the original and instead concentrate on fast-paced, frustrating, and nearly mindless action.
-
The single-player campaign is frustrating and boring in equal measures, and nothing really noteworthy has been added to the multiplayer game.
-
Computer Gaming WorldPrimal Hunt is going to take the Best Blueballs award for not delivering on what could have been a great expansion. [Nov 2002, p.118]
-
This is one of the poorest expansion packs for any game in recent memory. Its so bad, in fact, that I want my money back.
-
Middling level design along with an over-reliance on mobbing the player with nearly impossible situations make Hunt a disappointing release.
-
Offering no new gameplay styles, limited map enhancements, and unorthodox NPC AI, Aliens vs Predator 2: Primal Hunt seems to be just that, a primal update to an excellent storyline driven series.
-
Computer Games MagazinePrimal Hunt is a collection of annoying "Quickload" moments resulting in a thoroughly annoying game. [Nov 2002, p.84]
-
First off the Solo Missions, suck. There is no suspense like in the first, and just jumps into BORING action.
