    Aliens: Dark Descent is a fantastic addition to the iconic Alien franchise's vast and often disappointing collection of video games. The story is seamlessly integrated into the universe, and you'll come face-to-face with the iconic Xenomorphs that have instilled fear in fans for decades. While the game may have flaws, such as limited squad commands, a lack of grandiose music, and poor sound design, it is still one of the best Aliens video games that immerse fans in the beloved universe while providing thrilling action that they'll remember for a long time.

    Dark Descent is a generic XCOM clone with brief moments of engaging puzzle-piecing strategy. The horror is underused and feels wholly out of place as it pushes you further and further into action. Music is adrenaline-pumping and clearly designed to compliment firefights, troops yell ‘LET’S GO TEAM’ every time you move, and xenomorphs are easier to mow down than avoid. Nothing about Dark Descent wants you to be scared, but everything about Aliens does. Mix in the cocktail of performance issues and thin mechanics, and what you have is another disappointing entry in the catalogue of Alien games.

    I absolutely love it. This is the Aliens game I have waited for since 1986! As a lover of the X-COM games, blending squad-based strategy withI absolutely love it. This is the Aliens game I have waited for since 1986! As a lover of the X-COM games, blending squad-based strategy with Aliens (and they really nail the feel from the film) it is perfect for me. The references to the films (quotes etc) are all tongue-in cheek - an homage rather than being cheesy.

It's so much fun to play smart and effectively. This game rewards smart players who think before they leap. With the modest price tag of $40 it is more than worth it. It's a tough game sure, but only if you go in guns blazing and play on higher difficulties. The developers should be commended for crafting an original and FUN experience. A sequel that builds on the strengths of this game would be amazing. The only thing that could make this game better for me is more robust marine customization options, but it is a minor gripe at most. Bravo focus entertainment, bravo indeed!… Expand

ADD pulls a lot of inspiration from a lot of really good games and combines them in a setting that's respectful of the source material while doing a great job of feeling like an actual Aliens bug hunt. The mission objectives get added on as your squads discover more of the colony/infestation, and it really does have a great , progressive feeling of being a dynamic campaign that is changing in scope as you learn more about it. I've never played a strategy game before where I'll go in expecting to accomplish x objective, but will instead discover some valuable items then fend off a brutal alien attack and need to extract - then come back the next day with a fresh squad and finish what I came to do. It just feels good.

    The only really major thing that I don't like is the stealth. When your squad is detected, the xenos will begin hunting you for a period of time, and I don't feel like there's enough options to avoid being spotted. That said, this isn't Thief, this is a game about state-of-the-badass-art marines blowing up bugs, so I understand why sneaking around isn't a huge focus.

    they should just made it as alien isolation in firest person would be EPIC. not bad game but if they did it in FPS it would be a sucessor to alien isolation.
