In the end, A Way Out is without a doubt the most satisfying coop experience I’ve ever had. It’s a superb experience made from the ground up to be purely cooperative, and it creates a unique sinergy that even coop classics like Left 4 Dead can’t come close to achieving. The truth is, A Way Out not only holds itself alongside the best coop titles out there – it surpasses them.

A Way Out mixes the cinema and video game languages in a tale about two strangers that must break out of prison. Cooperation between these two characters and the players are essential, with a powerful dramatic sense.

Hazelight’s interactive movie sets a new standard for co-op games. It’s varied, thrilling, very pretty and enjoyable for both hardcore and casual gamers. It evokes tons of positive emotions and I can’t remember last time an action game moved me so much. [05/2018, p.50]

A Way Out hits the heart of thriller fans and combines an intricate gangster story with simple co-op gameplay that welds gamers together.

While it's not as memorable as it could have been, we had a good time playing A Way Out. Clever co-op mechanics and a novel presentation are diminished by an underwhelming plot and rather shallow gameplay.

Messy, varied and inadvertently hilarious: A Way Out is an unusual but uneven tandem ride.

It was a beautiful aspiration: to make a co-op game that encourages people to work together by means of original gameplay. But in the end, the manner in which A Way Out is played is seldom original and it's written like a poor action movie out of the 90's.

The direction, mix of gameplay style, discovery with games within the game itself, homages and throwbacks, characters, settings, variety - and that ending jesus christ. I can't recommend it enough. The fact one person can buy it and the other person downloads the "game pass" from origin for free makes it even better.

What a journey. First time I've played a game for 6-7hrs straight (apart from a 30-40 min break for dinner).

Some of the sweeping camera moves was just mindblowing, some reminded me of david fincher. Can't recommend it enough. 2 friends will have a blast with it.

Also, we think that the plot of this game is totally shocking and impressive. For this reason, "a way out" is the best-est cooperative game in the world. We wont to congratulate Josef Fares to lead this masterpiece. Expand

ItSeriously one of my favorite games to come out in recent times. It's truly unique and I can't really name any games that come close to it. It shares some elements to other products like Telltale games and Life is Strange, but it completely takes its own liberties and makes something new. The split-screen feature adds so much. It's not just some feature they threw in, they built this game around it. Being able to see two different perspectives of one world really does change the way the game is played and experienced. Also, Vincent and Leo are very likable and even relatable characters. The story buildup is crazy, and leads up to one of the best endings I've ever seen in a video game.

The game isn't perfect. There is quite a bit of jank in there, clearly from low budgets and it being from a small studio. But a lot of it adds to the charm, and doesn't hinder the experience. When you play this game you need to suspend your disbelief, and really engage yourself in this journey. If you can't do that, then it's not the game for you. Also make sure your co-op partner is the same way. This game is meant to be played and enjoyed by two friends. DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME SINGLEPLAYER! The charm comes from experiencing it with a friend. So PLEASE take advantage of the Friend Pass and experience it the right way!

I honestly can't believe that I didn't even pay for this game. I used the Friend Pass version to play with a friend who bought it. The fact that you can even do that is unheard of in today's video game environment, and I hope it inspires other companies to do similar things. It's so generous, and on top of that the game is only 30 dollars for what I would consider one of the best video game stories ever told. I'm going to go out and buy myself a personal copy of this game to put on my bookshelf, because the dev team behind this game truly put their hearts into it and they deserve success. I just hope this game gets the success that it deserves.

Thank you for this great experience that I am still thinking about days after beating it.
