    The best game for passing together. This is a whole story told to us about friendship, loyalty and family values. My friend and I went through it twice - each time for a different hero. That was great.

    I really can't believe the hate on this game, I just found it outstanding. it's really just a work of art and the most brilliant experience I've had in a while. 10/10 100/100 this game is just **** awesome

    If you don't like this game, you don't have feelings. This game is an actual masterpiece. Some people actually blamed this game because of its coop but this game actually focus on the story part. Desicions were effecting this game enoughly for me. At the ending part, Me and my friends where actually would cry.     I've also never had a Metacritic account but felt the need to give a short review on this game. Amazing co-op experience. The best co-op game I've played. This gave made me realise how good online co-op games such as A Way Out can be and how much potential they have. The split-screen is great and I would like to see more co-op split-screens in the future.    8.7/10. (rounded up to 9)

The split-screen is great and I would like to see more co-op split-screens in the future. Brilliant storyline and ending. Mini-games in the game such as baseball and Connect 4 are so enjoyable too. Price of the game is good due to the free friend pass and because of how short the campaign is. That brings me to the games downsides: length and some bugs. I would have loved for the game to be longer as its only a 6-hour campaign, but those 6 hours are action packed. I would have loved more time in the actual prison aswell rather than escaping fairly quickly. I definitely recommend this game - it lived up to the hype despite a short campaign IMO!    … Expand

    Its one of my new favorite games!

    There are too less good coop games out there with a good story. The game is only like 6 hours game play but the whole time exciting. I wish there where more time in the prison but that doesn't matter. Epic coop, slow motion scenes and a totally emotional ending. Gonna play it again with another friend.

    The forced co op is a bit of a draw back though, its hard to find someone willing to tolerate you and your hilarious jokes for a full 5 an a half hours that it takes to finish this game.
    I played the arrogant, cocky and short tempered leo and my partner played as the calm and in control Vincent.
    this game is basically the grown up version of the rugrats,
    you get your trusty screwdriver and as a team you have to find a way out of prison to go after a mutual enemy.
    this is a lot of one person distracting and finding a way to take guard attention from an area, while the other player inches closer to the target, coming up with clever ways to sneak tools back to your cell and look out for eachother while getting it done..
    This game doesn’t fully take place in prison though, youll find yourself on a farm as well as getting to know these characters and their families..
    making you care how the story plays out for each..
    there are moments of driving and third person shooting..
    the gameplay is constantly pulling the narrative forward..
    you never feel stuck or stagnant..
    constantly going..
    the 5 and a half hours flies by…
    And throughout the story there will be choices to make that are either more passive or more aggressive..
    choices that need to be agreed on by both players before you can move on..
    its tough to go into detail without spoiling, but I loved the journey this game took me on.. I loved the story and all of its twists..
    I loved not knowing where the game was going to take me next…
    this game shines during the moments where communication is necessary, where you have to use timing, hwere you have to watch for and distract guards while your partner gets to work…
    there really is no negative here other than again, this game has to be played with another person…
    you cant switch back and forth between controllers, there are moments here where that just wont work.
    This is a great game to sit down and spend some time with someone with
    especially if both of you can get lost in your characters.

    Super fun game. I play it with my girlfriend and it's great because it's not an extremely challenging game with a steep learning curve and skill charts and blah blah blah. It's just a fun drama-filled game that we can enjoy together. Split screen games are a dying breed and I am so thankful it's split screen on PC too and not just through online but local. Runs great, no glitches and isSuper fun game.     This game isn't a technical marvel (maybe except how cool the camera works in some co-op scenes) and the graphics is not the most beautiful these days, with animations sometimes not being as smooth (mostly sneaking), but all of that is easily forgotten and looked past once you start playing.
    There are however pros which will make you enjoy the game a lot:
    - the game's really cheap: $30 for around 6-8 hours of gameplay is really fair IMHO
    - EA does not get any money, all of it goes to the developer
    - You only need to buy one copy of a game and your friend can join you to finish the whole story together, I think it's an incredibly generous move
    - both characters are way different from each other, you can pick the one you'd seem more fitting yourself with
    - writing is not exactly perfect, but the story is interesting and intriguing, I really like it how smooth the transitions are and how smart the story was told, switching between the different scenes was really thought through and made sense without breaking the immersion
    - because the characters are so different from each other, it creates a bunch of funny dialogues
    - gameplay wise there were many funny moments throughout the game just because of how fun the gameplay is, I don't remember playing a game with a smile on my face for the whole time
    - there's a huge variety of locations and tasks you'll be doing, they are simple for the most time (I'm around 3 hours in the game), but fun and rewarding once you pull them off
    - the amount of work they've put for creating different animations and assets for different scenes you'll only get to see one during your playthrough is really amazing and worth the appreciation
    - there's a bunch of different and fun interactions, simple games and challenges that you can participate in, but are completely optional and I think it's nice of them that decided to put their resources in adding that into the world
    - you can interact with NPCs and talk to them, usually, there's a few in each location (which makes sense of course, so you don't meet them in the forest for example), both Leo and Vincent have different dialogues and dialogue options, which is cool
    - Leo and Vincent approach different situations in their own way since Vincent is calm type of a guy, while Leo is more rough, which means some tasks can be completed slightly differently depending on who's taking action
    - there are moments where you get to make a decision and chose which path to take, which will make for a different path to your goal or the situation play out differently. From what I've seen it progresses the story in a certain way that doesn't change, but still, it's nice to have an option to take different paths
    I can't recommend the game enough, it's such a fun experience and a refreshment I really needed from all the cookie cutter games. Also, I believe that Josef Fares, his brother and the team behind the game really deserve the support, because you can see how passionate they are about what they're doing. It might not be the most impressive game technically, but it makes up with the amount of enjoyment from the gameplay it provides.

    * Takes about 6 hours to complete, and as for replay value:
    * Limited replayability. There is some, as you have to pick "Leo's way" or "Vincent's way" several times in the game. Enough to play one more time, at least for me.
    * I wish more choices on the way could influence the game ending.

The fact one person can buy it and the other person downloads the "game pass" from origin for free makes it even better.

    What a journey. First time I've played a game for 6-7hrs straight (apart from a 30-40 min break for dinner).

    Some of the sweeping camera moves was just mindblowing, some reminded me of david fincher. Can't recommend it enough. 2 friends will have a blast with it.    … Expand

    Seriously one of my favorite games to come out in recent times. It's truly unique and I can't really name any games that come close to it. It shares some elements to other products like Telltale games and Life is Strange, but it completely takes its own liberties and makes something new. The split-screen feature adds so much. Also, Vincent and Leo are very likable and even relatable characters. The story buildup is crazy, and leads up to one of the best endings I've ever seen in a video game.

    The game isn't perfect. There is quite a bit of jank in there, clearly from low budgets and it being from a small studio. But a lot of it adds to the charm, and doesn't hinder the experience. When you play this game you need to suspend your disbelief, and really engage yourself in this journey. If you can't do that, then it's not the game for you. Also make sure your co-op partner is the same way. This game is meant to be played and enjoyed by two friends. DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME SINGLEPLAYER! The charm comes from experiencing it with a friend. So PLEASE take advantage of the Friend Pass and experience it the right way!

    I honestly can't believe that I didn't even pay for this game. I used the Friend Pass version to play with a friend who bought it. The fact that you can even do that is unheard of in today's video game environment, and I hope it inspires other companies to do similar things. It's so generous, and on top of that the game is only 30 dollars for what I would consider one of the best video game stories ever told. I'm going to go out and buy myself a personal copy of this game to put on my bookshelf, because the dev team behind this game truly put their hearts into it and they deserve success. I just hope this game gets the success that it deserves.

    The Game is really the best game me and my buddy have played for years, the beginning you had no clue what would happen. and then in the end it hits you like a truck. finished in 6 hours complete session with no brakes, well i couldn't take a break even if i wanted to because of the story. it had action all the way throughout and i loved it.

    Amazing game, great twists, combat is smooth, the story was thrilling and kept you interested the whole way through. Amazing last hour of game-play, never felt that in a game before and the coop works extremely well. A lot of laughs, a lot of action, a lot of tears, a lot of fun!

    This game was absolutely awful! The voice acting was terrible, it felt like it was a 10 year old game but really it was quite new, and the puzzles (if you even call them that) were jokes.

    That being said, me and my friends enjoyed how absolutely awful all these things were. We had quite a few laughs at the expense of the game and the terrible scenarios we were put in. We did have a hoot    This game was absolutely awful! The voice acting was terrible, it felt like it was a 10 year old game but really it was quite new, and the puzzles (if you even call them that) were jokes.

    That being said, me and my friends enjoyed how absolutely awful all these things were. We had quite a few laughs at the expense of the game and the terrible scenarios we were put in.     Let's start with the good things. Only one person needs to buy the game for you and your friend to play it, that is amazingly good practice, especially since the game is tied to EA, the most greedy bastards ever. Graphics are good, stylised and nice to look at. Music is also good. I have not seen any major bugs and a few I did saw I wasn't able to reproduce, so that's a good thing.

    But none of that matters as two major aspects of this game are terrible - story and gameplay.
    If you ever saw any action movie you can predict every single thing that's going to happen with ease. Cliches and tropes abound in this game and I see no replay value whatsoever. But even that could work if the game was fun... It's not. Did you ever want puzzles with answers so obvious you'd need to be a toddler not to get it? Well, you're in luck! Shooting mechanics are clunky and feel just wrong all the while the enemies are bullet sponges. Doesn't matter if you aim at their toes are do headshots, 20 rounds per enemy... But wait, there's more, as the game basically plays itself with little to no input needed therefore removing any and all challenge and completely nullifying satisfaction. This is nothing more than a movie that requires your occasional input and that would be okay if the story was interesting... but it's not!

    "A Way Out" is a waste of time and money. Technology and the idea were there, but the implementation of gameplay and writing of the story got lost on the way. There's nothing here! Nothing but that empty space where the hype lived once. Sadly, I recommend you avoid the game.    … Expand

    Had high hopes but this game is so boring.
    You can barely ever actually play the game as most of your 'played' hours is just watching cut scenes.
    The game is also ridiculously easy, there is almost no way you can fail.
    Would've been better if they just made a movie instead of this failure of a game.

    Never been this happy to get a refund.

The game is fairly fun in the first half but after that, it tapers off, honestly the best part of the game is the minigames.ontop of the game only has about 6 hours of gameplay that is ridiculously easy that never challenge you (the most difficult thing is probably pressing e at the same time as your partner). In the end, I didn't really care about the characters because The characters survive quite frankly ridiculously unbelievable things from getting shot 20+ times and surviving to the main villain sending his best hitman after you and him missing either of u from about 5 feet away with your back turned. and during the finale, none of your choices matter with it just being who can mash e the hardest, which for me was incredibly annoying when I beat my friend in all minigames except arm wrestling which is who can press e the faster.… Expand

    Por otro parte in game hay 3 momentos en donde se congela (breves 5 seg max) pero solucionable.
    Quitando estos detalles un juego muy bien optimizado.
    Una duracion de 6 horas, mi perfil es: jaga-9403, Me tarde eso ya que saque sus 2 posibles finales.
    Un apartado narrativo, que cumple con tus espectativas, con mucho suspenso.
    La banda sonora, no destaca por esta caracteristica muy pobre, pero se trata de un indie y no es su fortaleza.
    Jugabilidad estupenda, hay partes en las que se vuele un shooter, hace falta pulir esto en cuanto a la precision, hay escenas en donde conduces vehiculo, lo hace bien nada destacable pero muy entretenido.
    Y es que su jugabilidad es co op offline y online, me lo he pasado offline, y es un juegazo, se extrañaba la sensacion de coordinarte con tu compañero, muy disfrutable, decisiones que tomar en co op, es de ponerse de acuerdo, simplemente maravilloso a pesar de sus carencias.
    Es un videjuego rejugable, y con la maravillosa opcion de tu elegir que captirulos quieres rejugar y cambiar esas opciones que afectan la experiencia de juego.
    Desde mi punto de vista, si tu alguna vez has jugado los videojuegos de telltale games, A way out, es mucho mejor que estos titulos, creo que A way out es una evolucion del genero novela grafica.
    Un juego que lo recomiendo al 100% si tienes un amigo con quien pasartelo, te traera recuerdos.
    Yo lo compre en $27 de salida, y valio la pena, espero re jugar por completo el titulo esta vez con un amigo on line.

The game is 70% cutscenes and 90% timed button-pressing (seriously). The characters and dialogue are corny and the emotions are forced which just makes the whole experience a joke/painful.     This is the funniest game I’ve played in ages! Unfortunately, it’s not because the game is by itself funny, more so because it’s so bad it’s funny.

    This is supposed to be an immersive coop narrative game, in which you play two convicts trying to escape a prison, then looking for revenge on a common enemy. What we expected was a great story, good graphics and an immersive environment.    This is the funniest game I’ve played in ages! Unfortunately, it’s not because the game is by itself funny, more so because it’s so bad it’s funny.

    Story-wise, all characters are stupid and make poor decisions, starting with the protagonists themselves:
    “Ok, here’s the plan. I talk to the two guards and say that I need to talk to them in this corner over there, so you can sneak through the door. I don’t see why they’d refuse!” -- They didn’t. They even fell for the “There’s a fight over there, you should both go!” trap, leaving the door unlocked, open and unguarded.
    “Let’s use this wooden boat to escape the cops, I’m sure we’re going to be faster by rowing on this river than them with their cars!” -- It worked. Maybe the cops went upstream.
    “My wife just gave birth. I know we’re known criminals with our face on every newspaper, but I don’t think cops will go to the hospital, right?” -- Cops were there. So unpredictable.
    The game is filled with these unrealistic decisions and NPC reactions.
    It’s also reusing all movies tropes you can find in any prison escape movie, they’re just missing the file in the cake, that’s all.

    Well, the story is bad. How about the other aspects? Graphics are not great, but not too bad. Some animations on the other hand are so bad they’re hilarious, which is really hard to understand knowing they used motion capture for the game.
    The different gameplay phases are poorly done, it sent me back in the early days of 3D gaming when driving games had ridiculous physics and broken collisions.

    At first I was nitpicky about some unrealistic things, because I thought the game was serious. Like how can the toilets be moved so easily in the cell, aren’t they connected to the plumbings? But after a while, I understood the developers just didn’t care about immersion… Or did they? The ending unfortunately confirms their intention on doing a good immersive game with a good story, which is not. That’s kind of sad for them.

    Ok, I’ll drop here some cool things. First, the split-screen is interesting to follow both sides when the characters are not in the same place. Also, some camera transitions are cool and really gives the impression we’re watching a movie. There we go!

    A Way Out is a true nanar, a game so bad that it’s good.

    I thought it was a "escapist" type of game, but no, and then the ending is so much dog trash, that i don't recommend, you even spend 1 penny on it.

    Ànd this just makes me hate EA, even more, cause holy **** a way to kill a game, that i was sooo excited for.

    If its the latter then those people need to first watch a good prison break movie like Shawshank Redemption then try to complete a few wheres Wally (or in the US Waldo) puzzles. After that come back to this game and tell us its either a thrilling prison break movie or the puzzles are challenging.

    You'll find neither to be true.

    Not saying the idea or even the concept of a cooperative game is a bad one but the way this was executed was as if the target demographic was for children who either haven't seen a prison movie or find anything more challenging than counting to 3 a struggle.

Причем, вы всегда видите что делает ваш напарник и что он говорит, из-за чего смысла проходить игру за другого персонажа нет. Причем оба персонажа делают идентичные действия с окружением, которое вообще не нужно. Смешно и то, что игра рекламировала себя как побег из тюрьмы, что мы делаем в первом же этапа. Ну и сюжет. Такого плохого сюжета и непроработанных персонажей я не видел давно. Придраться можно ещё много к чему, но я для себя понял одно Юсеф Фарес это Томи Вайсо мира компьютерных игр, не понятно хотел ли он сделать хороший продукт, но то что получилось, вышло настолько безвкусным и плохим, что очень стыдно что я купил эту ужасную игру.… Expand

    Never mind the bugs, the game is short (less than 4 hours) and extremely boring. The interaction is all a bluff, since you only get to interact for an extremely limited time (in the prison). Once you complete the game there is zero scope in replay.

    When this game was announced at E3 2017, we were all excited. The premise of this game was that you had to escape a prison in fully tailored co-op game. They showed us renewing gameplay, in which you could see that you can control your character, while the other player is in a cutscene. It set really high expectations. So, has it been able to live up to those expectations? Nope.

    Why is this game so underwhelming? The flow of the story is totally off, and it has way too many clichés. Let me elaborate. What do you expect when they tell you the game is about escaping a prison? Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I expect that it’s about escaping a prison. Well, according to these ******* apparently only one fourth of the game is about escaping, and the rest is about (spoiler alert) the main characters taking revenge. The time that you are in prison is not really that exciting. Most of the time it just comes down to quicktime events, or sometimes, as I would like to call it, semi-quicktime events, where all you have to do is walk and press the right buttons. These events on itself can be fun or exciting, but when you sink your teeth into them, you realize they make the game quite shallow. The game is also heavily scripted and linear. You can’t walk around the prison and you’re not really able to get to learn anybody besides the main characters.
    The second type of gameplay this game has, are puzzle-like sections where you can walk around and can interact with people and objects. The goal is usually to find something or do something to progress the story. During these sections you CAN do a lot, however, WHAT you can do is mostly boring or just stupid. In my opinion they are just added mini-games to lengthen the game. There is this darting mini-game, you can throw hoofs or play piano and there are a bunch more. These can be fun, but it’s just a shame that the game feels so limited and restricted in terms of exploration, while they did decide to spend time making these mini-games, when they could’ve added some more depth to the game. The last kind of gameplay are the epic action sequences, where you have to escape, drive, run, shoot or do other kinds of exciting stuff. These sequences are a lot of fun and are about the only reason the game can be found entertaining.

    As for the story: as I mentioned before only one fourth of the game is about escaping the prison. The rest seems like more crap to lengthen the game. There is a part where you have to repair a car, which takes forever. There is this part where you have to catch fish, which adds nothing in terms of story. Uhm, you have bond with your boring son. You’re forced to learn about both your backstories, which, quite frankly, I didn’t really care about. For Leo, I think that it mostly has to do with the way Leo was introduced. As for Vincent, you can read that he is the educated one, so that spoke to me most, but the submissive way he talks to his wife just put me off. And as for the bond between Leo and Vincent, I didn’t really feel it. That probably has to do with the terrible cliché dialogue between them. The usual: “Euhmagud you have to tell me what’s going with you blabla”. Just, **** off.
    The story has some parts where you can make some choices, but, as you already know beforehand, it doesn’t really matter what you choose, as many games, like the Telltale-series, have shown us before. This led to me mostly picking the one that would be the funniest to see.

    So at this point in the game, it was really hard for me to get through it. I had read online that the ending would be very disappointing, so I didn’t had high hopes. I won’t spoil it, but let me give you sense of what the ending is like. For about half an hour you think the game is over, but it keeps going on. I had never experienced something like that before and it was rather annoying. It does get interesting at the end, but at some point during the ending, I was thinking to myself: GOD JUST IT ****ING END NOW, JESUS. That is not something you want as a game that is solely about the story.

    The game is below expectation. It has great action sequences, but that’s about it. The only thing new in terms of gameplay is being able to walk around, while the other person is in a cutscene. The rest is just boring, repetitive crap like quicktime events and basic puzzle-solving. The story is too less about the prison and too much about other random crap. It has an interesting ending, but it is too long, making not even the ending fun. The dialogue is cliché. There is nothing really interesting to learn about in this game in terms of characters. There is zero exploration. And the only reason why the game is five-and-a-half hours long, is because of the extra non-content they added to lengthen the game. The only reason this game was kinda fun, was because I was goofing around most of the time with the friend I played this with. I'm very disappointed.    … Expand

    The game tries to be story focused and based around choices that you and your partner make but ends up taking a huge dump on those principles at the end for the sake of trying to be provocative but just looks poorly written and thought out.
    The ending is one of the worst endings I've have ever witnessed in a video game, some will probably find it original, I thought it was nonsensical to all the previous event (90% of the game) and insulting to the people who thought it was going to be a bonding experience between you and a friend.

    If you are passionate about games and their stories, etc, put your graphics setting to the minimum for this one because at some point, you are going to fight your own friend using the worst 3rd person gunplay, and the story progresses based on that outcome, so basically, if your friend has a great pc and you have an old piece of trash, that will most likely affect the outcome of the story, which is one of the worst concepts I've ever seen in gaming, and especially in a coop game.

    We finished the story in 6 hours and If we took the short way without wasting time we could finish in 4 hours considering the price of the game definetly not worth it.

They used motion capture for this game and they look SO BAD! This game will repeat some of the most familiar action film cliches and will just NOT STOP repeating them.

    Well...what about gameplay? Non-existent!
    There is no gameplay, just some random clicking in the middle of this TERRIBLE film that is A way out.

    I will give this game 1 star instead of 0 because it was so bad that we actually had some laughs from it, plus the fact that it was just about 6 or 7 hours so not much time spent on it nonetheless.

    Action driven co-op game.
    It is not a must play or strongly recommended game, but overall for the 6 hours span it is mostly fun to play.

    Animations are stiff, sound is not top notch but graphics are nice and runs well even with two separate rendering windows.

    Story: 8/10

    If I had to describe "A wat out", I would say it is cinematographic adventure, with action and stealth, for exactly 2 players. And this is the most important thing about the game. If you can't play with someone else, this game is not for you in the same way as if you don't like FPS, Doom is not for you.

    On the other hand, many people complain about the difficulty, saying that this is a very easy game. Yes, it is easy, you won't die too often, and when you do, it happens more because you dind't understand the situation rather than difficulty. But think about it: if you died more often, the story would advance too slow. And the story is one of the most important things here.

    The choices are not relevant for gameplay, but for the story the game is telling you. I will put an example: you can either threat someone or lie to get some information. Is it relevant? Well, it will tell you this story in different ways depending on your choice. It is not relevant in the same way as The Witcher 3, for example.

    The ending is absolutely mindblowing. Doesn't matter if you like it or not, you have to recognice is one of the best things we can see in videogames.

    The reason for not giving it the perfect score are the graphics. Overall, they are really nice, considering that the game was made by a little studio. And the graphics are not that important here, except for one thing that I missed: facial expressions. Someone might be laughing, screaming or just talking and they always have the same face. This puts me out of the context. Also, even though I speak, write and understand English, and the game has texts translated into Spanish, I would have enjoyed voices too, specially during the action parts of the game.

    Overall, I highly recommend this game, just bare these things in mind not to expect what the game is not.    … Expand

Overall I liked the story, though I wish there had been more meaningful choices: the game is incredibly linear, with only a few decision points that have almost no actual impact on the plot (not enough at least for me to want to do a second walkthrough). Gameplay wise, the game is very easy and just requires you to push buttons when asked to: it'sIt's a fun game to play with a friend.     I am not sure why people are so hard on this game. It is cheesy and dumb af, yes. But it is very well-polished and packed with action with varying game-play. It is a co-op only game, it doesn't really need to have an outstanding script and there hasn't really been anything like this for PC in many years. Great entertainment per dollar spent value. Especially given you only need one copy.

    I enjoyed playing this with my friend, but it had some problems.

    The story was fantastic, the characters and acting was really well done. The visuals and audio were good. Game runs well. Sadly, it's just a little bit clunky to play at times, and there's some in-game mechanics and scenes that make some sections play out very boringly, such as the boating /driving sections which feel    I enjoyed playing this with my friend, but it had some problems.

Первый связан с перманентным ощущением, что игроков ведут за ручку и не дают сделать шаг куда-то в сторону, из-за чего даже открытые локации с кучей активных действий порой
    воспринимаются душно и линейно - у разработчиков, к сожалению, не получилось создать иллюзию свободы, или же эта иллюзия теряется где-то к середине игры, когда ритмическая структура становится однообразной: открытая локация - погоня, драка - уникальная активность (заезд на машине, плавание на лодке) - открытая локация - погоня... И так до конца. Когда к этому привыкаешь, становится и очевидной повторяемость - меняется лишь форма - активностей: то бейсбол, то дартс, то на инвалидом кресле покачаться - каждый раз здорово, да, но с каждым разом все меньше удивляет. Улетучивается и ощущение хоть какой-то необходимости в диалогах со случайными прохожими (хотя необязательность их очевидна ещё в самом начале) - да, прописаны эти диалоги интересно, мимолетные лица разнообразны и порой забавны, но никакой нагрузки это не несёт, поэтому я даже почти не подходил к ним, чтобы не терять динамику происходящего.
    Но, несмотря на то, что игра неубедительно предоставляет свободу, несмотря на бесполезность некоторых активностей и откровенную идиотскую сущность пары сцен - "Way out" это замечательное кооперативное приключение, может, одна из лучших игр такого рода, что успели создать игроделы.
    Первая половина игры - это действительно увлекательный экшен, когда интересные механики только раскрываются, ритмическая структура ещё не ясна, а иллюзия некоторой свободы присутствует, даже qte ещё не приедаются своей однообразностью (можно же было сделать хотя бы сочетания кнопок, а то всегда заранее знаешь, что нажимать придётся только две)...
    И ещё. В игре, на удивление, достойный сценарий. Хорошее ремесленническое достижение - персонажи получились живыми, мотивации ясными, а финал каким-то чертовски трогательным. В конце понимаешь, что не проиграл или выиграл, а что произошла какая-то неизбежная потеря - один из игроков, кто выжил в конце, как и выживший персонаж, остаётся с грузом на сердце, ведь потерял хоть и, скажем, врага, но того врага, который столько времени был напарником в самых залихватски поставленных сценах игры; так же каждый персонаж остаётся с невыполненными задачами, которыми нагрузили их сценаристы - это своеобразное многоточие тоже привносит дополнительное дыхание жизни в эту историю...
    Несмотря на то, что какие-то составляющие игры приедаются по ходу прохождения, тем не менее, все хорошо скрепляет хороший сценарий, драйвовая постановка и уникальный опыт совместной игры, который на моей памяти один из самых интересных и увлекательных...

    Игра - шедевр, лучшая в жанре ко-оп за последние лет 5. Геймплей на сплитскрине вызывает только положительные эмоции, разве что я недоволен дартсом, где дротик летит ровно в цель. Ещё чуть смутила часть с перестрелками, где целиться с помощью геймпада вызывает трудности, так как сенса сильно уж велика.     A Way Out is one of the most perfectly put together games I have ever had the joy of playing coop made for coop. It feels like a AAA game that is extremely well optimized and with consoles in    I only bother to write reviews when I think the existing ones are wrong and they are. (xcom2, skyrim, witcher, mass effect tril, COH2, stellaris, GTA 5, Divinity Original sin 1/2 are our favs).

It has incredible variety of mechanics for a SHORT game. We felt very compelled to finish it in one setting.

    I dunno guys.. why doesn't it get 90? My GF and I have to give it 10 marks. Great job Hazelight.

    Очень интересная и необычная игра. Очень удачная идея с полным кооперативом и неожиданная концовка. Жаль, что игра одноразовая, но пройдя её вы получите огромное количество удовольствия.

    Отличная игра для двоих. Графика конечно слабовато, но не режет глаза. Сюжет интересный, персонажи получились отличные, за них хочеться переживать. Концовка меня расстроила, надо было хотя бы 3 альтернативную добавить. Сам геймплей интересный, рассчитан над командую работу. Единственная игра для 2 которую я видел вообще.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. “A Way Out” was developed by Hazelight studios. This game was released on March 23rd, 2018 for Playstation, Xbox, and PC and quickly sold over a million copies within two weeks. It is actually the very first game created by Hazelight Studios! When you think of Hazelight Studios, you also think of “Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons” but what most people don’t know is that “Brothers” wasn’t made by them. A lot of the developers from Hazelight were on the team of Starbreeze Studios and “Brothers”, while not under Hazelight’s name, had many of the people from there working on it.

    The game has overwhelmingly positive reviews ranging from 4 to 4.5 out of 5 stars by Microsoft! The graphics on it are very beautiful and cutting-edge. Everything looks as if it would be in real life, with no unrealistic proportions or sights that we do not see in our current world. You can hear birds chirping and turn to the direction of their sound and locate them, you can hear the leaves rustling under your feet as your walk over them and you can even hear, in very clear detail, how your feet walk while submerged in shallow water. To put it in simple terms, the game feels very real. Whenever you’re maneuvering the story, your characters never make any unrealistic moves, the game takes into account that they’re only human and won’t allow them to, for example jump really high or climb steep walls without outside assistance. The action also helps this point as not only the gunfights, but also the fist fights are not exaggerated in other games. While this isn’t supposed to be in the fighting game genre, it still has moments where the fighting done by the player and by quicktime events are super flashy, but once again, realistic. The gunfights feel smooth and the bullets function as they would in real life, not entirely hitscan but with a slight bit of travel time.

    The protagonists in the game are Vincent and Leo. Vincent is a former banker who got involved with organized crime and was arrested soon after for fraud, embezzlement, and a murder he didn't commit. He is calm and rational, and was just arrested at the start of the game. Leo is an experienced thief who went to jail for armed robbery, assault, and grand theft after a diamond heist went terribly wrong. He is confident and aggressive, and had been serving for six months already at the start of the game. These two are the main characters, but there are other important characters throughout the game such as Harvey, the antagonist in the game. Vincent and Leo actually formed their bond over their mutual hatred for Harvey in the beginning.The other characters aren’t especially important but add value for the two protagonists and help the players relate to them such as Leo and Vincent’s wives and their kids.
    “A Way Out” is both action and adventure as it has a plot that is filled with high-quality combat scenes. For instance, once you and your friend(other player) make it out of prison, you find an elderly couple and their house.You and your ally are still in prison clothes and stand out way to easily, so the game gives you a choice: Force the elderly couple to subdue to you or send their farm animals loose so you can go ahead and sneak in their house and steal things you need. Regardless of what option you choose, at the end of that specific chapter, the old man will come after you with a pistol and you and your ally use his truck to escape. Once you thought you were safe, police sirens start to go off and suddenly you’re surrounded by cops, this then continues into a high speed chase in which you must escape. This is just one example of how action is portrayed in the game. The adventure aspect of the game is pretty simple to explain as the entire premise of the game is to have both you and a friend escape from prison and venture through the story and world tracking down the one villain that framed you both and put you in jail. Throughout the story, we see aspects of adventure genres coming into play with one of them being character development. At the beginning, one of the protagonists, Leo, has intense distrust and doesn’t like anyone, including the other protagonist, Vincent. Through Vincent’s repeated help, Leo starts to warm up to him and reveals everything about his past, to which Vincent does the same.
    “A Way Out” has numerous amounts of cultural references. It has references to “The Legend of Zelda” when Vincent and Leo are breaking into a house and they find a hidden chest. Vincent walks up to it and pretends to rummage through it, eventually pulling out a toy sword and swinging it in the air as if he was Link finding a hidden item. All in all, “A Way Out” is a game that accomplishes many things that make it a great game: it encourages cooperation with someone who is sitting right next to you, it has many small, funny moments and engages the audience with a nice story that ends in an amazing way.    … Expand

    As my self, on movie or game doesn't matter. I never connect to characters and never cry. But this one, at the final almost made me cry. I really couldn't escape from feelings of this game that gave me about days. I am playing games every day; Witcher, Rainbow, CSGO, Tomb Raider etc. I played almost all games that i heard but that's my best game.     I played this with my friend and we had a lot of fun! The story was actually quite gripping and interesting too us, and the little minigames you could play during the games progression where very fun. I think if you play this game with the right person you will defenitely have a blast. (The ending was pretty damn great)

Some of the jokes are pretty good and the action parts were great.The story was alright and I mostly enjoyed the ending between those 2 characters and the so called twist. Overall a really good co-op game which are hard to have nowadaysI really enjoyed most of my time playing this game.     Your choices affect only on game situations, but not endings. Intriguing start -> HORRIBLE gameplay -> good ending. I would like more if this story would be told in a short story or video, but not in game. It was the worst interactive movie game I ever played.

    Fun game to play with a friend (especially drunk). We loved the mini games and the story....until the ending. What the hell were they thinking that did not make any sense and we were shaking our heads in disbelief. Graphics and voice acting were nothing to write about, dialogue felt a bit stiff.

    On another note : We need more games like this, real cooperative games with a story.

    Fun game, one of the very few true co-op games. Some moments are a bit repetitive, but generally due to being very short it is ok.

    Hazelight’s interactive movie sets a new standard for co-op games. It’s varied, thrilling, very pretty and enjoyable for both hardcore and casual gamers. It evokes tons of positive emotions and I can’t remember last time an action game moved me so much. [05/2018, p.50]
